Link to previous thread here: Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3679916-half-a-stone-or-3kgs-off-in-september

Can't quite believe it's time to start the October thread already!!

So here it is, our challenge to lose half a stone in October. Oldies, newbies and lurkers all welcome. We do a mix of diets/healthy lifestyles etc. I swapped ww for mfp last month to help me focus on nutrients rather than just calories and also follow 16:8 most of the time.

As per every month we ask for positivity, encouragement and motivation to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!

Stats for start of October for me are:

Starting weight: 19.3
Loss for Sept: 10lbs
Loss for 2018: 5st 13lbs

Goal for October: 18.7 - another 10lb loss.

See you all here tomorrow!!

The dress sounds great! I want to buy some clothing when I’m a bit slimmer, I’ve got I list of a a few things I’d like when I can fit in the next size down. It’s motivating me. I’d like a colourful pair of exercise leggings for once, usually I get grey or dark blue, but next time I’m going to get something colourful or patterned!

WoollyFoolly · 12/10/2019 10:44

Oh same downudderer! My DD lives in sport leggings (she does a lot of exercise) and she's got a fab pair from sturdybydesign, they are super colourful. I covet them but they are pretty pricy.

Baguetteaboutit · 12/10/2019 15:03

Yeah, I have no stop button with bread but baguettes are another level. Digestive biscuits too but I couldn't think of a name for that!

I've lost a stone since June. Well, I weighed a stone more in June, lost a lot - put a load on over holiday - threw the towel in - then started again about mid September.

I'm just going to have to accept that my idea of eating off-diet is actually just gaining weight. I'm need to be disciplined forever now, I think.

Egghead68 · 12/10/2019 15:36

Just logging...
B - half bowl strawberries & muesli. 2 bites of cake (450)
L - veg & tofu red curry with 2/3 potion of rice (600ish)
D - 3 veg Gyoza, 2 veg tempura & 1 rice ball. Sweet chilli sauce (400ish)
5k jog in the rain.

Ellabella989 · 12/10/2019 17:04

B - 1 hot cross bun with butter
L - mushroom soup with small brown roll. Half a scone with clotted cream and jam.
D - smoked salmon pasta
Snacks - banana, few squares of dairy milk, yogurt.

Not the most low calorie day but I find it hard to calorie count at the weekends when I’m with DP. I’ll go back to being more strict next week

CalmConfident · 12/10/2019 22:27

Last few days have been a disaster...just finished a big beer and a gu salted caramel cheesecake Blush

Tomorrow is a new day....

flowerycurtain · 13/10/2019 07:41

@CalmConfident I adore the gu cheesecakes. I go to conferences quite regularly as I'm in that industry and we get loads of free ones!

Not a great day for me yesterday. I wasn't great at my nieces party - picked at loads of sandwiches, crisps and biscuits. I find portion control really hard at parties.

And we have another one today! Got to try and be better. I weigh on a Monday and the scales are only saying a half pound loss.

So aim today:
B - Greek yoghurt and honey
L - pinch of Nom chicken recipe
T - a few sandwiches and crudités at kids party

Baguetteaboutit · 13/10/2019 07:59

I'm up Confused I'm going to presume that this is a water thing because there's no way I'm over calories. Yesterday was b: banana porridge and berries l: Mexican bean soup d: veg burger in pitta, lettuce and tomato with sweet potatoes s. Black kale and apple smoothie (which was full rank but I was intent on not throwing out the kale).

DownUdderer · 13/10/2019 08:41

Baguette hopefully you’ll drop down again tomorrow.

I’ve eaten well today, I had half a brownie as an afternoon snack but apart from that everything was low carb and healthy! I really hope for a pound off tomorrow morning.

7Worfs · 13/10/2019 09:08

Bah, 0.1kg heavier than yesterday. The only variable is baby is eating less, so I don’t burn as much calories just sitting around producing milk.
Bring on the next growth spurt!

DartmoorDoughnut · 13/10/2019 10:30

Weighed myself this morning and 10st 1lb came up, that’s 6lbs down! Love the first week weight loss, just need to keep it up now ...

Egghead68 · 13/10/2019 10:33

Nice work @Dartmoor!

I can feel that today is going to be difficult food wise... I usually find weekends a struggle. Too many temptations around and too much time to eat them.

cricketmum84 · 13/10/2019 10:47

Well done on all the losses!!

I'm back up to 19.3 today which was my flipping October start weight!!! WTF is going on? I was so pissed off yesterday that I didn't even open MFP. I went to the pub, had 2 big glasses of wine and shared a portion of onion rings with DH, then came home and ordered salt and pepper chips and curry sauce and ate half of it and followed that with 3 gins.

I'm so annoyed that I don't even have a plan for today. DH is roasting a chicken and I'll probably throw some chickpeas in a pan in anger. I think I may have hormones...

Baguetteaboutit · 13/10/2019 12:02

I'm sorry the weight is up after all your effort cricket but, holy hell, your chickpea rage made me laugh! Hormones have a lot to answer for. Grin

LooseAtTheSeams · 13/10/2019 12:38

I have managed to keep the missing pound off but only by doing a 5K run this morning. Hoping for another pound off tomorrow but could just as easily go the other way!
Yesterday was a bit of a disaster - total carb fest. Will have to be very careful this week!
I totally sympathise with chick pea rage Cricket!

Ecci · 13/10/2019 12:57

My sympathies, cricket. I'm up 1.6 lbs, don't know why because I haven't strayed off the diet. Got a UTI so maybe the antibiotics are to blame. Disappointed.

Mrscog · 13/10/2019 17:56

Hi everyone, I’ve been lying low as I’m stuck. I have had a good weekend though and exercised twice, so that’s not too bad.

Scales stuck firmly but, Sunday is my barometer dress day (I try it on weekly) and it is now wearable! Not perfect, but wearable - 3 Sundays ago I couldn’t do up the zip and was majorly bloated. So, I’m going to keep on - I have to wear that dress in 3 weeks and I’m sure I am losing fat even if the scales are not budging. @cricketmum84 I have a feeling you’re going to suddenly have a big loss soon, you’ve been under so much pressure. Are you drinking enough water? That might help? I think it aids fat burning.

Well done everyone to sticking with it even through the boring non losing times - you can do it!

cricketmum84 · 13/10/2019 18:31

I do hope so @Mrscog! And well done on the dress!

I had a spinach and cheese wellington in the end. So no chickpeas thrown at anyone you will be glad to hear 😂. Lovely DH must have sensed my hormone anger and went out to do the weekly shopping, he brought home lots of veggie goodies for me and some of the little edamame bean pots I love.

I've planned food for the next week, only day I may struggle is Tuesday as I'm on the 6am train to London for an all day meeting and not home until 9pm. I don't often have to travel for work so not sure what the best thing to do is food-wise? They are ordering lunch in and I'll definitely need something before I get home at 9!

OP posts:
Egghead68 · 13/10/2019 18:33

Show those chickpeas a hard time @cricketmum84! I hope next week is better. You are coping with a lot.

Big win on the dress @MrsCog!!

Egghead68 · 13/10/2019 18:36

@cricketmum84 the edamame pots might be good train snacks? And you can probably pick up a salad or veg sushi and low-cal crisps or something at the station to eat on the way home?

WoollyFoolly · 13/10/2019 19:55

Good news on the dress @Mrscog! What the scales say isn't the be all and end all.
For those who've gone up, stick with it!! Consistency is the key. (Easier said than done I know).
I had a lovely break with Mr Woolly, delicious meal at the hotel. Fortunately (!) it was a proper posh restaurant so portions were teeny. 😂

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 14/10/2019 05:41

12st 1.7 last Monday
11st 13.4 today

Not exactly earth shattering but I did hit the beer on Thursday after a particularly bad week. I really wish I was one of those people who exercise when stressed. I need to work on that....Blush

I’m still ridiculously happy to be below 12 stone though.

Have a good week everyone Star

Tanaqui · 14/10/2019 06:05

Well done @beerincomechampagnetastes! Also good news on the dress @Mrscog.

I've been off the thread as just cannot stop eating - somehow I feel exhausted all the time and just want to eat toast and cheese (not even cake which is my usual downfall)- I think it might be a combination of menopausal stuff, and a bit of life stress- nothing bad, just a lot going on. However, have downloaded the zero app and going to start on 13 hour fasts and try to work on nurturing my body with good nutrition! And going to bed early!

flowerycurtain · 14/10/2019 07:54

Well done @Mrscog and @Beerincomechampagnetastes!

As suspected I ate far too much at the kids party and as a result have put on 1lb this morning. I'm in the being good mindset but that is really equivalent in my world to not putting weight on!!

I need to get out of thinking that treats at the weekend are ok. So I've got two weeks with no social engagements so I should be able to be quite good.

Today's menu
B - all bran, yoghurt
L - leek soup
T - chicken parmigiana

Have a good day all

7Worfs · 14/10/2019 07:59

Agh, same weight today as well.
And I consciously ate less yesterday.
I’m puzzled, to put it mildly Angry
