Hello Lovely People

There are 13 weeks/95 days until 2020. I for one want to greet it feeling my best! Feeling healthy happy and vibrant!

So following on from the previous monthly heathy eating & weight loss threads, here’s October’s. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or are just happy to maintain.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to Septembers Thread

Myself, I will continue to:-

  • follow a Low Carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fasting/IF
  • Calorie Counting
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Drink plenty of Water
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Come on ladies, let’s be awesome 😎

I’ve thrown my back out! Ow! I can’t believe it! I was trying to get my 4 yr old in his car seat and then pow! My back was agony.

BustedDreams · 14/10/2019 09:37

Good morning lovelies

TMI warning. Yesterday before my shower I removed my Fitbit Versa to find a round oozing burn and surrounded by crusty skin. It’s a proper burn!

I’ve photographed my wrist and emailed Fitbit. I’ve only had this device a couple of weeks (was paid for upgraded replacement for a Fitbit charge that wouldn’t sync, less than a year old). I’m really disappointed.

I have asked for a full refund of both devices as the first was less than a year old and the 2nd device I wouldn’t trust anymore. All in all last week was a bit of a mare. Flood, burn, other stuff. I’m pleased it’s a fresh week!

Enjoy your week ladies ❤️

Oh dear, Busted. I hope you get your money back.

DownUdderer, how are you feeling now ? I slipped while out with the dog but thankfully the pain has now passed.

My weight is up but while I was upset this morning I have moved on. All my meals today will be home made veg and pulses soup to try and kick start a loss. I think I am actually due on this week so maybe the weight gain is that ??

DownUdderer · 14/10/2019 10:02

My back is still twinging. Thankfully DH will do the school drop off tomorrow morning to save me a little bit.

I stayed the same weight today, please let a pound vanish over night!

Good luck everyone.

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/10/2019 12:26

Hi all

Sorry to hear about the Fitbit - I was contemplating getting one Sad Hope that they refund them! Sending you a big hug @BustedDreams

@DownUdderer that sounds painful. Heat normally helps as does moving rather than trying to keep too still.

Bet it will whoosh tomorrow @SunshineCake

I'm back where I was on Friday, so one day's dedication has done the job and I'm pushing on today. Jacket after 17hr fast, milky way bar for a snack and fish, sweet potato wedges and veggies for tea.

cheesenpickles · 14/10/2019 18:00

God that's awful @BustedDreams ! Def not fit for purpose! And hope your back is feeling better today @DownUdderer

I'm up 2lbs but hardly surprising and not massively concerned. Easing back into it with 16:8 and moderate carbs and working my way down. I'm away again this weekend so expecting similar fall out but there's a gym there so I'll make full use of it!

Had a crazy morning and ended up almost involved in an accident, phoning the police ambulance etc. Thankfully nobody was massively hurt which is a relief. My driving instructor who has been giving me refresher lessons just quit due to "personal circumstances" and although I'm driving again I've not been on the motorway yet. Can't decide whether to just go for it or try and find another instructor to take me out for it. Feeling way more confident but the almost crash this morning has shaken me a hit (I wasn't driving and it wasn't our fault etc).

Have bought a load of cheese for snacking tonight so looking forward to that Grin

SunshineCake · 14/10/2019 18:14

Oh cheese. You okay now ?

My guinea pig died today. He was 4.10 years old. We've brought his friend inside to live. My DS is very upset.

cheesenpickles · 14/10/2019 18:16

Yeah absolutely fine. I was more concerned about those involved and the person driving me.

Oh no! Your poor guinea pigs :(

fallfallfall · 14/10/2019 18:18

Busted the Fitbit issue would be concerning. I have had a red spot under my Apple Watch in the heat of the summer. But only the once, I take mine off at night to help the skin breath. Plus I’ve gotten the strap to the right adjustment, a little loose.
All’s well with my food choices, exercise is lacking.
I’m using the finger and ankle as excuses.
In reality part of my lack of energy is lousy weather.

Awittyusernameishardtofind · 14/10/2019 19:02

Rashes etc are a common problem with Fitbits. I’d never get another but your burn sounds awful busted! Hope you’re ok x

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/10/2019 20:38

Oh no, poor piggy and DS @SunshineCake and sorry to hear about the crash @cheesenpickles

Re: driving, is there a dual carriage way you can go on during the day when it's not too busy? Motor ways are just the same really, just bigger.

Food hasn't been too great nor horrendous. Fasted 17 hours, ate in 7, but hungry period due

@fallfallfall I'm not feeling it either. Been very wet and dark here. Forcing myself to walk a few miles tomorrow though.

Hope you've all survived the Monday - catch up with you all tomorrow.

galvantula · 14/10/2019 22:02

Hi all. I'm away just now so I can't weigh myself at all until Saturday. 😱

I made ok choices for first day of the holidays. Porridge and fruit for breakfast instead of a fry up like DH! 😅Then a small pasta salad thing for lunch. We've had takeaway for dinner, felt like way more than I'd usually eat! I have only had one beer and might stop at that. I've got snacks in but I don't think I really need one. Plenty of walking opportunity on this trip, so I need to get moving!

Sorry to hear about your Guinea pig Sunshine :(

Glad to hear you're ok after almost accident Cheese.

And Busted that sounds so uncomfortable! I use a Garmin vivofit type step counter. I broke the first one Blush, the new one is even more comfy I'd say. I wear it almost constantly, just taking it off to clean it.

I'm sure I missed something I was going to say... Too late and tired after travelling. Also an interesting night in a hotel where youngest DC (4) was super excited to sleep in with me. Then fidgeted like mad and was up at 2 am thrashing about for 2 hours. Thought I'd get a great sleep without DH snoring as well. Hmm

BustedDreams · 15/10/2019 08:51

Good Morning Lovelies

I forgot to include my weight yesterday ... up 4lb 😠. I know this is the increased thyroxine and will eventually settle. But still it’s annoyed me as I eat clean and don’t drink alcohol.

Having spicy pork meatballs Pinch of Nom style but pimped up with chilli and in home made Tom sauce, Fine green beans and a few carrot ribbons. Home made soup for lunch.

Nice to see you ladies still having losses. Sorry will respond to individual posts in coming days. Got my hands full this end at the moment.

Wishing you all a great Tuesday!

Oooh that looks fancy @BustedDreams

I'm up to 159lbs but still under 160 and I think I'm due on soon anyway.

I've got some pork mince which I'm not entirely sure what to do with but have all day to work it out. Hope everybody has a good one!

SunshineCake · 15/10/2019 09:44

Thank you for all your good wishes. My remaining guinea pig is very confused and quiet.

I am down 1.4lbs with period imminent so hoping I'll crack into 11 stone this month for the first time in goodness knows how long.

Going out now to buy a plant to put in SunshinePiggy resting place.

MrsJonesAndMe · 15/10/2019 12:46

Hello All

Seems our cycles have synced a bit here. Mine started last night. Up slightly, but learning not to fret too much about the numbers now.

Good luck for the week @BustedDreams

Have a lovely time away @galvantula

Pork mince would probably be meatballs for me Wink You can copy busted's recipe @cheesenpickles

Amazing loss @SunshineCake

Check in with you all later x

cheesenpickles · 15/10/2019 13:11

Hadn't even thought of that! Grin Have round a rather awesome pork meatball with halloumi casserole so may give that a whirl. Smile

Oh halloumi, I’ve got some in the fridge. I love it, but I’d forgotten I’d bought it! I’d better have some today, yum.

I’m going to have scrambled eggs for breakfast. I think I’ll scramble three eggs so I’m really full.

Foreverlexicon · 16/10/2019 00:30

I’m sorry to hear about your piggy @SunshineCake and sorry to hear about your crash @cheesenpickles, sounds horrible 😔

Yesterday I had a few too many biscuits but good overall - good but very long and stressful day at work but overall pleased.

Happy with my food choices today and I got to spend some quality time with the horse which has been in short supply lately with weather and work. Hoping for a repeat over the next few days and then I may brave the scales at the weekend!

Mungomango · 16/10/2019 02:47

Hi there, ok if I join this thread? I've been piling on the pounds over the last few years and have finally decided to do something about it (starting with facing up to my real weight ). I've got about 20 pounds to lose and would rather do it slowly (I don't like getting too obsessed with calorie counting). I was going to try 16:8 IF, any successes here? And I've also signed up to a 2 week trial with Noom.

cheesenpickles · 16/10/2019 07:45

Hmmm, I've been sticking to my if fasting window but my good choices are becoming less and less low carb. I need to give my head a wobble and stop post dinner snacking. I swear it's this weather making me feel snacky. Blughhhh.

SunshineCake · 16/10/2019 10:09

Welcome @Mungomango.. Everyone is lovely on here and apart from me has a lot of knowledge to impart. I am using the Lose it! app but seem to be always under calories so don't worry too much about in putting everything.

I am 1.4 lbs down since yesterday so 2.8lbs down in a couple of days. Very happy. Inspired to keep going.

@cheesenpickles don't be so hard on yourself. The weather is rubbish. Keep busy and have a snack if you want one. Since I know I can eat the pack of biscuits if I want I find giving myself permission silences the life long arguing in my head against the people who never fed me as a child and, stops me hurting myself as I'm certainly not hurting them.

cheesenpickles · 16/10/2019 12:42

Thanks @SunshineCake my work is really busy at the moment and trying to juggle it with the kids is taking it's toll a little bit. I'm starting to see a few habits I kicked creeping back in which also includes food. I just need a chance to press the reset button I think!

SunshineCake · 16/10/2019 14:22

In other news, my remaining Guinea pig has just squeaked for the first time since his friend died.
