Hello Lovely People

There are 13 weeks/95 days until 2020. I for one want to greet it feeling my best! Feeling healthy happy and vibrant!

So following on from the previous monthly heathy eating & weight loss threads, here’s October’s. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or are just happy to maintain.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to Septembers Thread

Myself, I will continue to:-

  • follow a Low Carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fasting/IF
  • Calorie Counting
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Drink plenty of Water
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Come on ladies, let’s be awesome 😎

Positive thoughts Busted.
I’m anxious to get on the scale, almost frightened.
I’ve got a new moulded splint, which I can remove to weigh in/wash etc.
The finger is broken in two spots, I’m feeling whinny. Not exercising :(
But being good on food choices.

SunshineCake · 11/10/2019 07:06

Shucks, that looks like I didn't care that you feel anxious @BustedDreams but I sent you a PM and talked about it there. Hope you feel better now.

@fallfallfall don't be scared. It is just numbers and they aren't your forever ones. I am sorry you are fed up and hope your finger isn't giving you pain.

Having taken over a week to finally lose a pound I was up half a pound this morning. Surprised myself with how down it made me but I will slap myself shortly. Being rational my period is late and I had a cheese toastie with bread I'm intolerant too so I'm blaming that.

Do feel hormonal today. I struggle when I want a concrete reason why and I am not fully sure what it is.

Right, get up and stop moaning Sunshinecake.

Have a good day everyone.

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/10/2019 09:26

Morning all

My mood matching the weather (grey, wet) sorry to hear you're struggling too @BustedDreams, @fallfallfall and @SunshineCake

Had a stressful evening, was hungry and couldn't get to sleep and this morning has involved more stress and puke (not mine)

I am determined not to eat the stress...though I had a slice of PB & honey toast to break my fast. Jacket planned for lunch and tea is anyone's guess as I'm trapped indoors tending the poorly one.

Very surprisingly the scales are now 24.5lbs down. Going to read back through the thread in a minute to see where I started October, but it's a definite downward trend.

Check in with you all later x

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/10/2019 09:29

4lbs off so far in October...

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/10/2019 09:30

Wish we could edit posts. 26.5lbs down in total
August: 12 1/2
September: 10lbs
October: 4lbs

DownUdderer · 11/10/2019 11:45

I’m down 2lbs for October so far. I’m hoping to drop a pound tomorrow morning.

cheesenpickles · 11/10/2019 12:07

Morning! I'm 0.3lb down this morning and have been to the gym THREE TIMES this week. One work out, one yoga class (which I didn't realise was 2 hours!!!) and did BodyPump this morning which was great fun even if I have the coordination and rhythm of a plastic bag in the wind. Had a damn good laugh though!

Here's my totals since starting

June: 204.3lbs Shock
July: 187.6 lbs (-16.7lbs)
August: 175.3lbs (-12.3lbs)
September: 165.8 (-9.5lbs)
October: 161.6lb (-4.2lbs)
Current weight: 157.3lbs (-4.3lbs)

Definitely going in the right direction! 47lbs lost since June. Grin And I've had McDonald's Grin

SunshineCake · 11/10/2019 12:11

I fully plan to stuff my face today and won't feel guilty. I also fully expect that now I have given myself permission to I won't.

BustedDreams · 11/10/2019 16:55

Afternoon All

I went to the hairdressers this morning and had a few highlights put in. It’s made me feel a bit brighter plus they are such a lovely bunch. She forgot to cut my fringe and I forgot to remind her. We are as ditzy as each other Grin. I did try another salon a few weeks ago but on balance I’d rather stick with the young mum hairdresser. At my age I’m not all about precision trendy cutting, more clean and tidy will suffice.

Stayed on track. Might treat myself laters and have a take away for a change. Not had alcohol for months now and tbh I’m not missing it either.

What’s everyone up to at the weekend

Nice day Busted :)
I braved the scale! After oatmeal and tea and with a full bladder. But minus the splint 153.9
I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s dry weight.
Lots on the agenda near the house, so unlikely to get steps in. Dh harvested the grapes and I will complete the jelly today. We’ve had two heavy frosts so I will need to harvest the carrots and parsnips.
Philly cheese zucchini boats for supper as I need to use up my veggies. Last nights pumpkin stew was amazing and I suspect very low cal.

cheesenpickles · 11/10/2019 18:27

We've just had a KFC dinner as the eldest got a special award at school. I've input what I had into my fitness pal and I'm actually surprised how low the carbs are. It's still taken me to around 60g for the day but I definitely had my fill.

Did a BodyJam workout today and it was HILARIOUS. I am so uncoordinated but the people who take the classes at my gym are such a good bunch and really just let everybody do what they need to. When I was leaving she told me I did really well and not to think I "screwed up" because I was laughing the whole way through it and that's what she'd rather see than perfect moves. Burned about 600 calories according to my watch to boot!

Oooh there's nothing like getting your hair done @BustedDreams. I always walk out of the salon bouncing and feeling like a superstar. SmileStar

DownUdderer · 11/10/2019 23:27

I’m down a pound this morning. I’m thrilled.

fallfallfall · 12/10/2019 02:06

Oh that sounds fun cheese! Well done for getting on with it.

cheesenpickles · 12/10/2019 10:11

Same this morning and off for a fancy pants night away with a tasting menu. Hope everybody has a fab weekend!

BustedDreams · 12/10/2019 12:52

Great losses ladies!

I’m weighing on Monday, my official weight day. Fingers crossed 🤞

Had a little crisis today ... upstairs loo sprung a leak. Had a local plumber recommended who was swift and reasonably priced. All good now.

Have a lovely weekend whatever you’re doing ❤️

Hi all

Up a pound after coke, pie and mash for tea and eating over 9 hours.

Today I've fasted 17 hours and we're having Dominos later - oops!

Check in with you all tomorrow when I have my halo back on Wink

SunshineCake · 12/10/2019 15:35

I maintained this morning after having a couple of treats. Really haven't lost anything for about two weeks. Period is actually next week so not late but I'll still blame it. I have decided to try and only weigh myself on a Friday. I weigh daily as don't want to miss the nanny second when I've lost Grin.

fallfallfall · 12/10/2019 20:49

152.8, not so scary a number being the trip to Mtl was all about dining out and my injuries have limited my ability to exercise.
Positive thoughts everyone.

DownUdderer · 13/10/2019 00:24

I think I’m going to have a hike on the beach this afternoon. Need to get a good step count for today after a lazy day yesterday.

The kids go back to school tomorrow and I’m so relieved! We’ve had a nice break from school but they can be quite moany which is very boring to hear all the time. I’m going to get a quick haircut on Monday and a browse around the shops!

Foreverlexicon · 13/10/2019 04:56

I’ve had a good ‘weekend’, despite lots of food related events I feel like I’ve eaten less overall than recently on days off. Much less bothered by food now. However, take away the use of food as a comfort tool and I’m left dealing with my actual issues so I’ve been rather anxious.

Irs my Monday today. The rotten cold is gone so I’m hoping for a more enjoyable week with healthier choices!

SunshineCake · 13/10/2019 08:46

I have decided this should be the week something clicks for us all. Be it food things, exercise goals, getting into a smaller size or a long not fitted favourite.

Yesterday I had fresh bread. This morning I was up. So no more intolerance foods. Well no more bread. I still have a couple of double deckers.

DrDiva · 13/10/2019 09:04

Have had a couple of properly off piste days foodwise. No all I have to do is take my own advice re those moments. Grin

Did I enjoy the food? Yes. Do I need to go on eating that much? No.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

cheesenpickles · 13/10/2019 13:24

Had the most amazing indulgent meal yesterday. Michelin star level but despite how lovely it was the lack of carbs over the last few months and the richness of it did NOT agree with me. Blush totally tmi but any gains I may have had have erm, been cancelled out.

Missed my steps etc out yesterday but did go for a lovely wander outdoors in the rain. Had a cooked breakfast this morning and may have a snack later but back on the intermittent fasting low carbing tomorrow.

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/10/2019 17:59

Ha ha @cheesenpickles It sounds a bit like my reaction to the Dominos

Well done @Foreverlexicon and good luck with the working week.

Good luck driving up and spending time at the cottage @BustedDreams

Same @DrDiva - line drawn!

I had 80% off plan yesterday, today has been 80% good stuff, so hopefully back to normal. Food planned for the week. Still been doing yoga. That Adrienne really does make you work even when you're not expecting it Blush

Foreverlexicon · 13/10/2019 20:21

Good day here. Not the healthiest and I’m way under my step count as despite a 12 hour shift, it was largely paperwork/interview based.

Another long one tomorrow and I can’t be bothered to cook so I’m living off toast and pate but I’m happy with the quantity of food.
