Hello Lovely People

There are 13 weeks/95 days until 2020. I for one want to greet it feeling my best! Feeling healthy happy and vibrant!

So following on from the previous monthly heathy eating & weight loss threads, here’s October’s. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or are just happy to maintain.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to Septembers Thread

Myself, I will continue to:-

  • follow a Low Carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fasting/IF
  • Calorie Counting
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Drink plenty of Water
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Come on ladies, let’s be awesome 😎

Sounds like you had a human day too @MrsJonesAndMe! Id kill for a hot chocolate lol. To be honest a packet of wotsits and a handful of gummy bears isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things. *
*
Today has again gone a tad awry with a fractious 2 year old demanding cheese on toast at a cafe then refusing to eat it. It's a small indie place and I can't stand food waste so had to break fast at 14 hours and eat it. Carbs ended up being lower than I imagined though and tbh it tasted heavenly. It's dh's payday today so it's takeaway night and aiming for a shish kebab. I went to the gym though, really pushed it and didn't even break a proper sweat which left me thinking argh Christ but calories on my Apple Watch said otherwise so I think maybe I'm just a bit healthier overall?! Either way It's still going in the right direction and I'm 2lbs off from a healthy BMI now so I think maybe if I start adapting to lowish carb with some keto meals thrown in for good measure.

I'm usually absolutely spot on with my fasting windows anyway so I think that should help continue me towards the end goal and I can always readjust otherwise.

SunshineCake · 08/10/2019 18:51

Remind yourself how much you enjoyed the food. That it isn't all the time that you do this. That one day or meal of eating off your plan isn't going to make you put pounds on.

I am not making Christmas cards at the moment as have some left from last year but will be soon no doubt.

SunshineCake · 08/10/2019 18:56

I was going to attach a photo of some cards I've made but my phone isn't showing me them for some reason.

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/10/2019 19:44

Thanks Ladies.

Would love to see them. I'm not crafty well not like that anyway

SunshineCake · 08/10/2019 20:01

These are some I've made yesterday and today

@SunshineCake how lovely those cards are. Talented lady!

SunshineCake · 08/10/2019 22:07

Thank you Flowers.

I have made so many. If anyone needs a card I probably have one for the occasion. Oops.

Just realised why I might not have lost any weight this week and put half a pound on. My period was due yesterday.

cheesenpickles · 08/10/2019 22:15

I you're right @sunshinecake AND you've made me realise mine is imminent, which probably explains the hunger!

fallfallfall · 09/10/2019 00:13

i love the cards! well done sunshine.
i'm home, and will need to be very serious all month to make up for the week of debauchery.
not junk but rich, saucy, cheesy meals from some incredible restaurants coupled with minimal steps.
loads of ongoing aches and pains. i'll need physio or massage help i'm sure.

SunshineCake · 09/10/2019 06:51

Thank you @fallfallfall. When I started my cards were pretty rubbish but I feel I have grown in confidence and so they are getting better.

BustedDreams · 09/10/2019 07:19

Good Morning All

The weather here yesterday was unseasonably warm. Dried loads of washing and spent some time doing garden work. All very pleasant.

This popped up today, so thought I’d share.

@MrsJonesAndMe don’t be so hard on yourself, although I get why you’re cross. I’ve done the same at times. If you’re eating on point 85% of the time, one day off plan shouldn’t undo all the good you’ve been doing. And you have been doing great! Reset and you’ll be fine.

@cheesenpickles great news that you’re inching nearer to a healthy bmi!

My GP upped my thyroxine prescription yesterday so I’m expecting a bit of fluctuating on the scales this week/month. When I started on thyroxine initially I gained then lost it again. Hay hoe, that’s the way it goes.

Wishing you all a good one!

cheesenpickles · 09/10/2019 07:51

Stayed the same this morning but happy with that. Smile

galvantula · 09/10/2019 12:36

Hi all.

Sorry I've not been keeping up and been MIA.

I've been consumed by defeating the constipation issue Blush Blush

After trying 4 different treatments I think (really hope) it's getting better now. Unfortunately (further TMI) it's made my post birth piles flare up, yay.

I was so exhausted and sore and stressed out I actually took a day off work to recover and let the medicine work. I hate calling in sick but I felt really rubbish!

I've done a bit of comfort eating the last week or so because I've been feeling crappy. Still hovering between 60 and 61kg though, so not too bad.

We're away on a family trip soon with lots of nice eating out planned. I intend to enjoy myself, but try to balance nice evening meals with lighter breakfast and lunch. And try not to snack like mad or go OTT on the alcohol. I'm sure this time last year was when I stopped logging properly and started putting on weight. It doesn't have to happen, so I'll try to restrain myself a bit while enjoying lovely food.

My period is also MIA. After a short cycle last month, I'm on day 34 with nothing. Confused maybe ovulated later with stressing.

Hope your cat is doing better sunshine. Nice cards!

Hoping all the colds and sore throats are clearing up too.

This would all be a lot easier if we didn't love food so much Grin🤔

MrsJonesAndMe · 09/10/2019 13:14

Lovely cards!

I don't know how any of this works either, but I've hit the 11kg mark, so down again...

Glad you're back home @fallfallfall

Oh I hope it does the trick for you @BustedDreams what dosage are you on now? Thanks for the kind message.

Food better today. 16hr fast, hot choc and a date/nut bar thing, jacket for lunch, stir fry for tea with rice noodles.

Nothing like hormones hey, @galvantula @SunshineCake and @cheesenpickles

How are you doing @Foreverlexicon? Throat better?

Take care all of you x

DrDiva · 09/10/2019 14:01

Really beautiful cards, @SunshineCake!

To those kicking themselves for coming off plan - remember we’re doing this so food doesn’t rule our lives. So just enjoying every so often is a good thing I think, as long as it doesn’t start ruling again. Which it hasn’t Smile

@BustedDreams hope the new dose works.

I am a bit up due to less movement. Coming off crutches tomorrow and see how I go. 🤞🏼

cheesenpickles · 09/10/2019 14:58

Wise words @DrDiva I've popped to the supermarket today and got some "on plan" snacks and planned out a nice low carb pad Thai for our dinner which I'm excited about.

I've also given my head a good wobble and took an illicit photo of myself in the gym changing room mirror yesterday (tbh I was alone in there anyway!) as I'd forgotten to take photos for a while and I'm gobsmacked at the difference. I think I'm down a total of 52lbs (23.5kg) since June so I've done most of the "hard" work anyway and just need to keep pushing forward.

My dh's weight has totally plateaued over the last 6 weeks, so I guess that's his body telling him that's a good weight for him (he's very tall and very muscular anyway). Hopefully I can get to my happy weight soon and continue to tone up.

Also bought myself a new top for an event this weekend in a size 12 so happy as hell about that! Wouldn't mind seeing a size 10 though... Grin

MrsJonesAndMe · 09/10/2019 16:05

Wise words @DrDiva

Amazing work @cheesenpickles I can really feel it in my clothes, but haven't tried on a smaller size trousers too scared

Well, I'm back on track. I haven't seen below 70kg maybe in 8 years when pregnancy sickness made me lose quite a bit! Don't really advocate it Wink so that is my next goal - Getting under 70 and seeing where things take me. This morning I was on 70.1kg! Grin

cheesenpickles · 09/10/2019 19:12

Eeek! That's so close @mrsjonesandme. I'm on the 71kg mark and I've not been this weight since late teens/early 20s. Just doing my rainy wander round the streets thing before settling with dh and gross peely foot mask Grin Yoga tomorrow and really looking forward to it!

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/10/2019 07:44

OMW, the scales this morning Shock 69.3kg! Hurrah!

Hope you all have a good day.

I'm aiming for hot chocolate, jacket and curry.

Might start a separate thread in Weight loss chat with recipes if anyone is up for that? Don't want to get bored.

Foreverlexicon · 10/10/2019 09:12

I’m in the naughty corner, my lurgy got the better of me and I’d slipped well off the wagon. Combination of sleep deprivation, feeling sorry for myself and 3am team briefings in McDonald’s over night shifts...

Yesterday was good and I had the MOST positive thought - I was thinking right that’s it, back on the shakes, time to do this etc. Then I just thought hmmm nah. Actually I’d rather be this size and cook nice meals with the gf and have team maccers etc etc. Just need to eat a bit better than I had been because it just doesn’t make me feel good. I also didn’t do any full on binging so this is huge progress.

Yesterday was good, I did have a shake for lunch because I woke up at 1pm and I was peckish when I went to ride at 3 but didn’t want to eat a proper meal at that time - I like the shakes and they’re handy snacks so I will use them up - and then leftover chicken, rice and veg and a chocolate mousse.

I havn’t officially weighed myself as I know weight will be up but I hopped on in my dressing gown and think I’m only up about a pound which is fine.

I can see there being a lot of food in my near future; going to a mad hatter cocktail party in London tonight then spending Friday with the gf then a family lunch on Saturday. Also done sod all exercise bar a bit of riding as I’ve felt rubbish but hey, I’m just going to focus on eating reasonable amounts and enjoying it 🙂

SunshineCake · 10/10/2019 09:34

I am a pounds and ounces girl so no clue what kilos equate too!

After the magic two toilet trip I am not down. Though no way was that wee a pound Grin. I am 12 stone 2.2 lbs which I haven't been for a few months. That 11 seems closer now and I was thinking I couldn't have done it without you all. So thank you very much for helping and encouraging me StarFlowers.

Well done MrsJones!🏆

I am especially pleased and surprised with my pound loss as yesterday I ate my first double decker in a long time as technically I am intolerant but I am slower trying the odd thing, my period is MIA and I have at least one square of dark chocolate a day but no more than three.

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/10/2019 12:27

As long as it's going down @SunshineCake I don't care if it's kg or lbs Wink

I agree that you sound like you're doing a lot of mental work @Foreverlexicon and you sound like you're being kind to yourself which we're all so rubbish at.

Hmmm, a brownie slipped into my mouth alongside the hot choc Wink but if I look at how far I come, I know that doesn't have to set me off into a big binge - nothing sweet in the house anyway. About to have lunch and that will take me to tea time.

Hope you're OK @BustedDreams

BustedDreams · 10/10/2019 14:18

Good Afternoon Lovelies

It’s been an hectic few days here, what with health appointments, physio, date night ❤️, visitors ... it’s been difficult to get online.

Had my flu jab last night (I pay for myself) and I’m considering having the pneumonia jab. I think it’s worth £70, it as I’ve had pneumonia before and got a subsequent scared lung, so don’t want pneumonia if I can help it.

Been on track apart from a couple of salted caramels (home made as of requested them) Not been on scales, will wait for my Monday weigh in. Although I’m not expecting a loss as my thyroxine has just been upped and I usually stick.

I can feel my anxiety rising as it gets nearer to Monday night as that’s when we go to the cottage :(

Some great positives to read upthread. You are all doing great.

Wise words @DrDiva 👍 I agree. These threads are all about balance, joy & enjoyment. We just want to live our best life and be the healthiest we can be by following a mindful way of eating.

@SunshineCake how’s your cat? On the mend I hope!

DownUdderer · 10/10/2019 22:17
