Hello Lovely People

There are 13 weeks/95 days until 2020. I for one want to greet it feeling my best! Feeling healthy happy and vibrant!

So following on from the previous monthly heathy eating & weight loss threads, here’s October’s. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or are just happy to maintain.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to Septembers Thread

Myself, I will continue to:-

  • follow a Low Carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fasting/IF
  • Calorie Counting
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Drink plenty of Water
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Come on ladies, let’s be awesome 😎

@SunshineCake poor kitty. How worrying for you! Flowers

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/10/2019 18:26

Ah, poor kitty. Hope he perks up soon @SunshineCake Do you have tablets to fight into him?

Good luck @Foreverlexicon - that sounds like an awkward shift.

Hope everyone has had a good day. I ate strangely today but skipped lunch as I wasn't hungry rather than just eating for the sake of it.

SunshineCake · 05/10/2019 20:10

He has to start on antibiotics by tablet tomorrow. Eek.

Results all came back with mot okay but he has too high a reading for his bilirubin. Will see what the vet says tomorrow. Has only eaten about a tablespoon of roast chicken all day.

BustedDreams · 06/10/2019 06:32

Happy Sunday Lovelies

I had had a really good week. Had a bit of a tumble from the wagon last night. OH brought back a Chinese .... must say it was rather tasty and I’m sure I’ve been glutened.

@SunshineCake is he drinking? Hope he rallies round soon!

Roast chicken dinner today, Sunday’s generally are OMAD. Coffee with cream, white tea, jug of lemon water.

Have a great day whatever you’re doing.

Happy Sunday all!

@BustedDreams I’ve got very lazy plans - after working all week I’ve got today off Grin

I did a 500 fast yesterday to try and reset myself a bit. The WW app is not happy with me but I’m back on my points today and hopefully I’ll be a 1lb down on Wednesday. Fingers crossed.

cheesenpickles · 06/10/2019 09:48

Happy Sunday peeps. Dh is home and we're back to status quo. Made this really good keto fish casserole last night and had some cheese and dark chocolate as a pudding. Also did my first barre class but it turned out to be a Les Mille one rather than a traditional one with a barre. It was hilarious and while I didn't get out of puff apparently I burned quite a lot of calories doing it. Definitely one to repeat and really finding my new gym is SO much nicer than the ones I've been to in the past. Weighed this morning and I'm 1.2lbs down as well. Woohoo!

SunshineCake · 06/10/2019 11:02

I can't get my brain to process food and weight stuff as I'm just thinking about my cat. Overnight he ate a whole sachet except for three chunks. This morning he has had some chicken and 2/3 of a sachet. Doesn't seem to have passed urine and we can't tell how much he has drunk but he has groomed himself and bit me when I stroked him so I think he is doing better.

BustedDreams · 06/10/2019 13:13

@SunshineCake sounds positive!

Foreverlexicon · 06/10/2019 13:32

@SunshineCake glad he seems a bit brighter!

Last night turned into another 12 hour shift. This week is crazy, pray for me that the people of my town behave themselves tonight, I’ve come down with tonsillitis and do not fancy getting stuck on again tonight, I’m exhausted!

Having lots of ice cream and cappuccinos to soothe my throat as I feel like I’m swallowing razors.
Once this is over I’m going to make a push towards making better choices as head feels pretty settled now. I won’t go mad as don’t want to slip back but I’ve been eating a lot of bread and feel a bit stodgy!

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/10/2019 13:52

Seems more cat like @SunshineCake

Hope you feel better soon @foreverlexicon

We're having a roast too @BustedDreams but I've had risotto for lunch too and there may be ice cream involved Blush

Did quite a vigorous yoga session last night so tonight's will be stretching rather than challenging. Also, I seem to be 1lb down so far for October, which I'm gladly taking.

Hope it works @MikeHannigansStripyShirt

Have a good afternoon/evening. Glad DH is back to get you on the straight and narrow @cheesenpickles

SunshineCake · 06/10/2019 18:23

I have just been flamed on my thread in the litter tray. Apparently not looking after DCat properly.

In other news it looks like I might have sciatica.

BustedDreams · 06/10/2019 19:16

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt Happy Sunday to you to :) Hope you enjoy your well deserved day off and awesome resolve doing a 500 day! I struggle with anything less than 800, then I can’t do 2 days on the trot. Light weight aren’t I Grin

@cheesenpickles get you you gym bunny. Barre ... is it one where you can get a g&t ....

@Foreverlexicon those sore throats that feel like razor blades are horrible. Hope it’s easing somewhat! Being over worked and tired will have lowered your immunity. Speaking of which I’ve booked a flu jab for tomorrow at Boots. On top of everything else this year I don’t want flu.

@MrsJonesAndMe Roast chicken dinner this end. Oodles of veg. I didn’t have yorkies or stuffing. Also plated a couple of dinners up for tomorrow so less to think about there.

@SunshineCake what have they said? Who said it? I’ll biff ‘em for you.

My kitchen is now spotless and closed up ready for tomorrow. Enjoy your evenings I’m getting a bath then an early night :)

BustedDreams it's on the litter tray topic. I've had a run in with her before. Haven't read her last post. Just saw something about a drip feed.

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/10/2019 21:27

(((hugs))) @SunshineCake MN is a weird p;ace at times.

I feel like I have eaten non stop today Sad Full of cold and despite having a lie in this morning, I'm shattered!

Have a good week all, we can do this a day at a time.

BustedDreams · 07/10/2019 06:26

Good Morning Lovely Lot

Another Monday and another fresh start. 12 weeks until to 2020. That’s enough to get fitter, healthier & happier if that’s what you’re aiming for.

Stayed on plan yesterday with a roast chicken dinner and same planned for today with the addition of home made soup for lunch. Coffee with cream, white tea and jug of lemon water.

Scales say I’m down slightly. 10st 0.9lb. For October I want to get below the 10 stone again and for it to stick. Then I need to get to work on moving the final elusive stone. I think in my situation stress is playing a part. My cortisol will be sky high which plays havoc with fat metabolism and fat loss. Being mindful to breathe properly to destress my system. Just taking a number of long deep inhales and fully exhaling really does help.

@SunshineCake how’s your cat today? Hopefully purring away.

Morning all! AWOL over weekend but feeling better now, (not least because DS has a really good sleep last night and is back to his sunny self - a couple of late nights and he’s a right grumpy bum).
@SunshineCake really hope your lovely cat is feeling back to himself. Sorry you got flamed - it seems to be a (an unnecessary) rite of passage for MN.
@Foreverlexicon I hope you are feeling better too, and that you get to rest your poor throat.

I can’t say I was amazingly angelic about food in the weekend, though no alcohol. Using crutches makes me hungry! I made my usual sticky baked gammon for dinner, found out too late that the ginger had gone mouldy Hmm so had to rethink the recipe - it didn’t really work, but it was at least edible. I will make the leftovers into a pie or something, as it turned out quite dry.

cheesenpickles · 07/10/2019 07:47

Morning! Hope your cat is doing better @SunshineCake

Sadly no G&T during barre @BustedDreams but there's a well stocked one at the gym for particularly rough classes Grin

0.3lb down this morning which is brilliant. I need to get in the mindset that it's going to slow down a lot more now and it'll be a case of upping activity. Planning on going to the gym tomorrow and have a couple of classes booked this week as well. Next couple of weekends I'm out and eating out so may go off plan a bit but if I make sure I'm on it around it then hopefully I'll do some damage limitation.

The weather is foulllll today and I've got lots of work on so hopefully I can have a super productive day. Have a good one everybody!

Foreverlexicon · 07/10/2019 19:19

My throat is on the mend but I’m all bunged up. The night shift tonight is going to hurt.

The day didn’t start off very healthy - I go to town on comfort food when I’m sick and started the day with ice cream and a few chocolate digestives Blush then a bacon and egg sarnie, crisps and a big bag of Maltesers for lunch. Felt guilty and mentally planning to go back on shakes or whatever but I’ve given my head a wobble. It wasn’t a binge and I don’t need to be all or nothing.

I have a big pot of vegetable and bean soup on the hob so i’ll have a bowl of that before work and have a healthy homemade freezer leftovers meal to take to work. I managed 5 hours sleep this afternoon but I still feel so sleepy and even minor colds feel a million times worse overnight.

SunshineCake · 07/10/2019 19:29

How are you feeling now, @MrsJonesAndMe?. Remember it is starve a fever feed a cold Wink.

Thanks all for asking, my cat is heaps better. Looks completely back to normal. Has eaten well, been out for a visit and is now asleep on the sofa 🐱

Well done @Foreverlexicon

I'm 12 3.2 and having lost for about six days but that's fine.

MrsJonesAndMe · 07/10/2019 19:50

Hi all, thanks for asking. I'm OK but I did eat a whole slab of chocolate over the day Blush Meals - 2, healthy and portioned.

You're doing well @Foreverlexicon just keep plugging away.

How long are you on crutches for @DrDiva?

How's kitty @Sunshinecake?

DownUdderer · 08/10/2019 01:36

I’ve got the three kids at home for the second week of school holidays, we’ve just been to the supermarket and I didn’t buy much at all. I realised that if it had been the me from the last school holidays I would have bought crisps for myself, biscuits for me, Jaffa cakes, and then skittles, twixes, Mars bars and a share bag of malteasers. I would have been stuffing mouthfuls in every moment I could when the kids weren’t looking. That felt normal for me for the last year or so. It was something that spiralled out of control. If I’m lucky enough to get down to a healthy weight and BMI, then I’d like to think I could have a mini mars bar once a week as a tiny treat (without calling it a treat). I used to be slim and eat whatever I fancied, but I wasn’t out of control, I’d be happy with something tiny.

Ok it just felt nice for me to recognise that I prefer my new way out eating because it reminds me of how I ate in my 20’s.

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/10/2019 06:59

Sounds a lot like how I was eating @DownUdderer. I'm now in a healthy BMI and trying to eat well 80% of the time/day.

You can do it @BustedDreams

Have a good Tuesday x

cheesenpickles · 08/10/2019 07:42

Morning everybody! I was a bit naughty last night and had some gummy bears and wotsits. I ate a really healthy dinner though and stuck to 20:4. Woke up this morning and 0.9lb down. I really don't understand how weight loss works!

SunshineCake · 08/10/2019 10:05

. You weren't naughty. Food is not bad. You wanted or needed them so listened to your body. Different to eating feelings imo.

I don't understand either but think it is partly down to not eating enough. It's been five days once my lowest and I've been up for about three days but it is only by half a pound and I keep going.

Trapped nerve seems to be the likely culprit now for my painful back.

I'm just having two boiled eggs with chilli sauce to dip in then going shopping before back to making cards.

Have a good day everyone.

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/10/2019 18:14

Argh, I'm cross with myself. Ate like the old me today. Was going to have a hot chocolate this morning, when I got there, my friend had already got me a large one and a chocolate twist. Then I kind of went into stuff it mode and had a wrap, crisps and Coke for lunch and soup and bread for tea - finished off with a chocolate bar Blush

FFS. I'm MrsJones and I am a food addict. Tomorrow will be completely on plan and GF to boot to beat the bloat.

Hope everyone else has had a better day.

You making Christmas cards @SunshineCake? How was your day @cheesenpickles sounds like yesterday was just a human day...
