Hello Lovely People

There are 13 weeks/95 days until 2020. I for one want to greet it feeling my best! Feeling healthy happy and vibrant!

So following on from the previous monthly heathy eating & weight loss threads, here’s October’s. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or are just happy to maintain.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to Septembers Thread

Myself, I will continue to:-

  • follow a Low Carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fasting/IF
  • Calorie Counting
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Drink plenty of Water
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Come on ladies, let’s be awesome 😎

@BustedDreams - I am sure I am not eating enough but having taken a while to learn how to feel hungry and not hate myself for eating, how do I know eat more than I feel I need because it is too few calories ?Confused.

I've made fried rice for everyone else but as I can't have rice I am having jacket potato, left over roast chicken and cottage cheese - the latter added to get the calories up.

cheesenpickles · 02/10/2019 17:11

I have a lot of days where I struggle to hit my calories and I do wonder if I've lucked up my metabolism with it.

Got a nice tray bake from the butchers today but had to pick out the potato and carrots. My new absolute fave is kale fried in butter thoughGrin

I'm almost back down again to my lowest weight. The scales are so all over the place at the moment.

SunshineCake · 02/10/2019 17:15

...how do I now eat....

fallfallfall · 02/10/2019 22:45

I’m in Montreal visiting family; no scales and not counting calories. Looking forward to being accountable next week. Steps will be fine. Although airport days are a wasted.

DownUdderer · 02/10/2019 22:56

I’m really hoping to get to 11st 8 this week just one more pound to go. I’ve been wavering up and down a pound for a few annoying days now!

DownUdderer · 02/10/2019 22:58

Sunshinecake can you add avocado or more veg to your eating? Or low carb yogurt?

Foreverlexicon · 03/10/2019 05:21

I’m feeling pretty guilty about how I’ve eaten the last few days. Start my work week today which will reduce my intake quite a bit. But I haven’t binged or purged which is the main thing - I’ve just been challenging some deep rooted food beliefs.

Food today;
Breakfast - last slice of homemade apple and blackberry pie (hey well it has fruit in it right? And I do figure I’m better off having it as a meal rather than an additional desert)
Lunch if I get a chance - overnight oats with figs, honey and walnuts
Dinner - mushroom, chorizo and cheese omelette, salad and a couple of ryvitta

Probably a couple of biscuits after dinner, apple and possibly a cereal bar for snacks.

Working 7-4 then will squeeze in a quick ride if I don’t get stuck on at work.

Hope everyone has a good day!

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/10/2019 06:40

Sounds fine to me @Foreverlexicon

Wondered where you had got to @fallfallfall How is your hand?

I am tired today. Walked over 5 miles in the end yesterday...all with the double buggy. Today will be a more sedate amount and then swimming tonight for about half an hour or so. Eating wasn't great yesterday and too long a window, but there was pudding to share with DH Blush ah well, still got to live a little.

Have a good day all.

BustedDreams · 03/10/2019 08:17

Good Morning Lovelies

@SunshineCake are you allowed butter with your baked potato? I use butter/cream to up calories if a bit low for the day.

@cheesenpickles if you’ve built muscle, that would increase your metabolism naturally .... now where are my free weights ...

@fallfallfall Wishing you a great trip! Nothing like a catch up with family. Enjoy!

@DownUdderer fingers crossed for you. I find a watched scale is similar to a watched kettle ... So frustrating.

@Foreverlexicon Before I knocked sugar on the head I’ve been known to have a dessert as a meal. My rational was the damage was limited as all eaten within a calorie allowance Grin

@MrsJonesAndMe Anyone would be tired walking 5 miles with a buggy. Well done!

Omelette & salad for lunch and spag Bol with courgetti rather than pasta. 1 coffee with cream, white tea, jug of lemon water.

Wishing you all a good day.

Half a lb off this morning and close to being back at my lowest. Had a lovely meal from the butcher last night and dh has had to go away so tempted to nip over again and get a huge steak for my myself

@fallfallfall can you eat lots of poutine for me pleaseeeeee. My mum was from Montreal and even though I actually don't like chips, poutine one of my faves. Oooh and Tim Hortons (not helping here am I? Grin)

galvantula · 03/10/2019 09:40

Morning all. I seem to have dropped to 60.2kg/9st7 today, despite the fact my digestive issues aren't entirely.. ahem.. resolved. :)

Hopefully this means working a bit harder to reduce my calorie target has helped. Plus I'm making sure I don't get fooled by MFP logging calories from the tracker watch.

I've so much laundry to sort that I've not had time for my walk, need to blitz it so I can maybe do it before I pick up smallest from nursery!

Will try to catch up with the thread later... Maybe at work Grin

fallfallfall · 03/10/2019 13:00

Well Cheese, I’ll think of you as I walk past putines and timmies. Now Dunn’s was classic and amazing (smoked pastrami on rye), tonight’s main meal is my moms lasagna. Mom 87 serves small portion sizes and only eats twice a day. Has her whole life. So as long as I get out and moving and don’t nibble I’ll be okay.
Christmas shopping well underway.
Hoping everyone has a good day.

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 03/10/2019 15:25

Hi everyone

Mixed news from me - after disastrous week 2 on weight watchers, I’d happily only put 1lb on at weigh in. However I’ve been working night shifts and have eaten a universe of crap because I’ve been so tired. Nights are evil. I’m finished them today and going to just draw a line and move on.

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/10/2019 16:13

Not gone to plan here either. Bank card got swallowed Hmm and therefore I had a bacon butty and chocolate instead of soup. Going to drown my sorrows tonight and sit with my book instead of swimming which I know is probably better for me physically, but reading and cosy is probably better for the mind/soul at this stage!

SunshineCake · 03/10/2019 17:52

DownUdderer I've done extra veg for today's tea and I'm having salmon while everyone else has freezer rubbish due to a late appointment and I'm shattered. I'm lactose free so that makes things tricky, as well as gluten free and not being able to have seven other normal food items.

DD was rude earlier and I spied my biscuits. New discovery, suitable for me, realised I was about to eat my feelings and opened the packet anyway but when I saw there was two and not three I shut it up. Only having one biscuit later would have been annoying.

@Foreverlexicon I do wish you could lose the guilt. Dessert as a meal rather than extra course is fine. One thing at a time.

SunshineCake · 03/10/2019 17:53

@BustedDreams I'm lactose free so it can be tricky.

cheesenpickles · 03/10/2019 18:09

Kids are fed and we're starting to do wind down now. I've got a big ol' ribeye steak and roasted soy brocolli all prepped for when they're down. Ocado delivery is arriving later with an absolute fuck tonne of cheese as well Grin

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/10/2019 19:29

That sounds lovely @cheesenpickles I made chicken fajitas and had mine without the wrap and with sweet potato fries, salsa and cucumber.

I read for a bit while waiting on DD to do her club and had a small rocky road thing and water. No coke or hot chocolate - writing it off as a win and a good window to fast as we've got a hospital appointment first thing, so no chance to eat till later Grin

Well done for not eating them there and then @SunshineCake! I must try harder again

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/10/2019 19:32

Do you buy your courgetti @busteddreams? I made some with my vegetable peeler that were noodle like the other day. Have considered getting a spiriliser

cheesenpickles · 03/10/2019 19:38

@mrsjonesandme but a spiraliser. Total game changer! I make a carbonara with Philadelphia and pancetta and it goes SO well.

TinyTickler · 03/10/2019 19:42

I need to join you guys too. I've been trying to lose weight for 2.5 years, but being honest I'm not trying that hard.

Need to. Have to. Just bloody do it woman.

BustedDreams · 03/10/2019 20:37

@cheesenpickles that’s great news! Hope you enjoy your juicy steak ! My grocery shopping arrived today from Ocado today too Grin

@galvantula another success posted! You ladies are doing marvellous!

@fallfallfall how’s your hand & foot bearing up on your trip? I also bought some Christmas stuff today Grin

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt night shifts play havoc with hormones and eating patterns! You have my sympathy.

@MrsJonesAndMe oh crumbs! Do the bank send another one or do you have to collect when bank opens? I make my own spirals from different veg with This Bit cumbersome but makes nice spirals among other things.

@SunshineCake we are very similar. I avoid lactose & gluten due to intolerance. You can get lactose free dairy now which I find makes life a little easier.

@TinyTickler welcome! You’ll like this group, awesome ladies, oodles of support.

As some of you know we been having a crazy anxious time of late. In desperation I’ve posted about it on GN if anyone is interested. If reading please don’t link to this thread as don’t want to be identified or hijack this thread 🙏 Feel free to comment on that thread if you want to. It’s been a pretty bonkers time.

Sounds like everyone is doing really well!
I’ve had a good day and the guilt is gone. Interestingly my belt was sneaking towards another hole up even after my days off which was a pleasant surprise! Work trousers also feel less tight than usual when they’ve just been washed.

I didn’t get to ride as got stuck on at work but got 11k steps in which is something.

Another early tomorrow then seeing the girlfriend in the evening. Too tired to get creative for lunch tomorrow so plan to have;
Protein bar for breakfast
Apple for a snack
Sandwich and lentil curls for lunch
Cottage pie and veg for tea

Feeling positive!

SunshineCake · 03/10/2019 21:01

God my typos are awful. I am blaming auto correct but I love how you all ignore it and chat to me anyway Grin.

Will check out GN when I can, @BustedDreams.

BustedDreams · 03/10/2019 21:18

@SunshineCake my iPad has been really playing. Missing letters out etc. It’s taking me an age to type posts as the screen is increasingly unresponsive. So frustrating
