Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Morning! I've completely falling off as been away for work and then a wedding. Am 10.12 after all that so need to get back on it now!

Going to spend some time reading through, catching up and getting motivated!

DrDiva · 16/09/2019 11:45

Lovely to see you @Foreverlexicon!

@cheesenpickles I think new gym gear can underline that this is a self care thing - or I find it does for me.

Term starts today, much easier to keep on the wagon I find when this is my routine. So hoping to see a good loss this week!

DrDiva · 16/09/2019 11:46

Oh and hope your DC has a ball at school @cheesenpickles!

MrsJonesAndMe · 16/09/2019 12:41

Hi all

Good luck for first day of school @cheesenpickles

OMG yes, the fresh bread smell! Sad

I am pleased to report that my BMI is officially 25 this morning. I'm so pleased. The goal now is to keep going and see where things lead. Having to attend something with ex mid October, so a month to get further. I agree @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa best/healthiest I've felt in a while.

Welcome back @Foreverlexicon

Food sounded lovely either way @Knitclubchatter. Do you have an allotment or just a big garden?

Catch up with you all tonight.

BustedDreams · 16/09/2019 15:12

@MrsJonesAndMe that is bloody fantastic. 25 BMI 😮🏅🌟 My dream is to get back to 25 BMI. Currently yoyoing just under/just over 27.

So far well behaved today. Made chicken with avocado salsa for dinner and tucking into some keto microwave bread with bigger now which is actually not bad.

chutneypig · 16/09/2019 20:26

A big welcome back @Foreverlexicon. How was your first day?

Fabulous @MrsJonesAndMe!!

The gym, very exciting @cheesenpickles. I love Sweaty Betty stuff, although I usually wait for the sale. I love the contour leggings, they are so soft and comfy, usually great patterns. And so easy to look coordinated, if only I could manage that generally. What classes are you looking at?

Hope the term started well @DrDiva

Hmm interesting question @BustedDreams. I went on th Bodytrax at work today. It said my ideal weight is 59.3 kg (currently at 62.6). I started at 70 spring last year. I reckon I could get to 59, also build a bit more muscle and lose visceral fat. That would put my basal metabolism up. The weight loss is really helping my running, I got a personal best Saturday and it has been years since that happened. I’ve had good results in the past with low carb but it doesn’t mix well for me with running, although I know some people can manage. I’d love to be looking at building a healthy maintenance approach for the new year.

MrsJonesAndMe · 16/09/2019 20:42

Thanks @busteddreams

well done on the PB @chutneypig

Do you make the keto bread @cheeseanpickles?

cheesenpickles · 16/09/2019 20:51

Looking at mainly yoga, pilates, barre and maybe some of the HIIT classes. Going to see what takes my fancy (and works with my schedule)

It was this recipe gimmedelicious.com/2018/04/07/90-second-keto-bread/. A tad eggy but not bad. I used ground almonds rather than flour.

Foreverlexicon · 17/09/2019 01:09

I’m very impressed with all the exercise people are doing! I rely on the horses as I can never motivate myself to do more than a weekly run.

First day has been amazing both diet and workwise 😂

I’ve only managed to have some weetabix and toast and jam today so not the healthiest and lesson learnt to have a proper meal before work as I literally had a 5 minute break on a 10 hour shift and barely had time to pee let alone think about food which is very standard for the job I’m in but I had the best fun and my team seems brilliant!

Knitclubchatter · 17/09/2019 05:15

i'm pleased with my food choices, lots of veg.
steps in and biking.
tomorrow's plan includes yoga at noon.

chutneypig · 17/09/2019 06:30

It’ll be fun to try and few and see what you think @cheesenpickles. I use the Les Mills app at home now although I used to go to classes. Scheduling got a bit tricky. I’ve got a new yoga class after work today, so looking forward to that. I’m thinking of doing Adrienne’s 30 days of yoga next month.

I’m glad the first day went well @Foreverlexicon. I imagine you must get a lot of exercise with the horses. I saw an old friend who was helping in a yard and couldn’t believe her biceps!

Sounds like a good day @Knitclubchatter.

I was down 1.3kg this morning so definitely suspect some water retention going on there! Hopefully the start of everything heading in 5e right direction for the end of the month.

cheesenpickles · 17/09/2019 07:24

All the weekend weight/water retention is gone plus another 0.1lb off. Happy with that! I need another 5lbs to get into the 10s and I think 4lbs to hit healthy weight BMI. Woop woops!

BustedDreams · 17/09/2019 08:16

Good Morning Lovelies 😊

@chutneypig I can’t remember e question 😮😬. Sorry I’ve looked back and can’t see it either. Well done on your personal best 🏅

@Foreverlexicon Pleased your getting back into it!

Stayed on track until someone put some profiteroles & fresh cream in front of me. It would have been rude to not eat them Grin . Joking apart it’s those little lapses that are causing my stall. After I’d eaten the 3 little buggers I looked up the cals. 300! Then another 100 for the cream. They are going in the dog next time!

Home made veg & bean soup for lunch. Lamb curry & brown rice later. 1 coffee with cream, white tea, water.

151.3!!
Busted I understand! I know what reasonable portions are, and what treats are. but when faced with yummy stuff in front of me, (buffets are extremely hard) I make calorific choices. like you say it stalls or set me back.

MrsJonesAndMe · 17/09/2019 19:41

Hi all

not a great day food wise, but I stuck to an 8 hour window and did some yoga and set the world to rights with my friend this morning in the sunshine, so treating it as a general win.

Self sabotage with comfort eating seems to be something we all struggle with.

Glad it went well @Foreverlexicon!

Foreverlexicon · 17/09/2019 20:04

Good day here
I had a meal replacement bar for breakfast, went for lunch with a friend but controlled myself and just had a ham and cheese panini and a skinny cappuccino- just went to Costa so there wasn’t much choice.

Dinner was a bit of a mash up as don’t have much in; breaded chicken breast (tiny, only 100 cal), a homemade healthy hash brown and lots of veg.

On nights now which is annoying as I end up eating an extra meal when I turn over but I suppose it counters itself out when I come off again so I’ve packed chicken fajita salad - if I get a chance to eat it tonight!

Also did a 5k hilly run which almost killed me and rode the horse.

cheesenpickles · 17/09/2019 21:18

I've had a good day here despite eating four babybel straight from the fridge Grin, it's ok it was in my "macros". Saved some dark choc specifically for during Bake Off tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Came in just under 1200cal and 8gs of carbs. Also, 15k steps. Just waiting for my gym link up to my health insurance to get sorted so I can book some classes. Smile

ChipsAreLife · 17/09/2019 22:14

Good day for me too after nearly two weeks of being off the ball a bit.

1100 cals, 265 more burned through a class and then 12.5k steps. Really busy which stops me eating.

Well done @MrsJonesAndMe that's a great achievement!

chutneypig · 18/09/2019 06:16

Scheduling must be a hassle on nights @Foreverlexicon but the fajita sounds a great option.

Great idea keeping some chocolate back for Bake Off @cheesenpickles. My stomach usually rumbles away during any cooking programmes. I do like watching them though!

@ChipsAreLife I know what you mean about being busy, it’s quiet days that get me the most.

@BustedDreams it was the question about 15 weeks left of the year. It really made me think rather than just focusing on the end of the month. I’ve been doing that a lot because of the short term goal to lose by my next half.

I ate a little over yesterday but had a good active day, short weight HITT, new yoga class and 3 mile walk home from work. The yoga was great but the hardest class I’ve ever done. I did sneak a couple of small snacks at a work thing but it was very controlled and balanced, so a definite improvement on usual. I still had a slight shift down on the scales this morning so all good.

DrDiva · 18/09/2019 07:48

Morning everyone!
I’ve forgotten about GBBO - I’m way behind! Have to have a marathon catch up.

Scales are finally back on the way down - 2lb off this morning.

Have a good day, everyone, with delicious and healthy food Smile

Foreverlexicon · 18/09/2019 08:30

I only had a cereal bar and a cappuccino at work - I’m not intentionally not eating but the nature of the job means we don’t really get breaks until the last hour or so and then it seems pointless to eat when I’d rather wrap up my paperwork so having my fajita salad and an apple now and finishing my ‘day’ on about 1600 which given I’ve been awake for more or less 24 hours is decent I think!

I’m off to bed, I hope everyone has a great day!

cheesenpickles · 18/09/2019 09:20

Scales are down 0.3lb this morning and TOTM has swung in which is a major relief as I was super late and have ditched contraception (cheers DH for taking the baton on that one Grin). I'm usually a few lbs up before then so would explain the grazing but no major weight gain so either that's levelled our or in going to have a bit of a woosh. That'd be nice. Super behind on work at the moment as it's one of the silly seasons for my role, shipped eldest off to school (and drove for the first time ever to it and it was HORRENDOUS!) and youngest is with my father in law while I catch up... on my day off Envy Needs must though. Sighhhh.

Hope everybody has a good day today!

BustedDreams · 18/09/2019 10:50

Good Morning you lovely lot :)

@Knitclubchatter I know. It’s just not worth it. I have treats, but usually within my cal allowance. I know that works. It’s when I go over, even a bit, it seems to stick around.

@MrsJonesAndMe Sounds like you had a great morning. Eating feelings is surprising common. Don’t be too hard on yourself, we all have done it.

@foreverlexicon Establishing a regular eating routine must be so hard for you. Shift work plays havoc with hormones and appetite. I worked the odd night shift joint working with the police and it impacted on me for days afterwards. Hope you get your zzzzs in today and wake refreshed.

@cheesenpickles I love gbbo! I really thought 2 might have been voted off last night. I think the right person went though. I love babybels too and can eat 2 on the bonce Blush

@ChipsAreLife welcome back.

@chutneypig Thank you for explaining. I have a dreadful memory. I’ve just bought Gyles Brandreths latest book, Dancing by the Light of the Moon. I am hoping reading (and remembering) poetry will improve it!

@DrDiva @cheesenpickles It’s a great feeling when you see the scales drop Grin

Enjoy your day lovelies.
