Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Sounds like an excellent gin festival @cheesenpicklesGrin

BustedDreams · 15/09/2019 08:24

Good Morning Lovelies

Thank you all for the comments re:- the dress. Will be doing a weekly try on to check progress.

@cheesenpickles oups. Sounds like some one had fun Grin Resolve of steel you girl, turning down fish and chips 🍟. Well done 🏅

@MrsJonesAndMe Great progress!

@Cary2012 Kids are awesome. They come out with some pearlers!

@FiveShelties high five ✋. Getting below 10st is a good milestone.

I’m cooking a roast lamb dinner for the family today. Leg of lamb, fine beans, carrots, cauli, cabbage, roast potatoes. The works. Sunday’s for me is generally OMAD and we eat about 15:00. Bacon sandwiches am for rest of family but I can’t often face food in the am, so I never feel I’m missing out.

What’s every one else having? What mischief are you getting up to today? What ever you’re doing have fun!

We have just had steak, couscous and veges. Was very good - I am into couscous at the moment and trying all sorts of different spices with it. I am now sampling a very good red wine - must point out that it is 8.32pm in NZ - I am not having wine for breakfast ------ yet! Wine

FiveShelties · 15/09/2019 09:35

Posted too soon ....

Thank you @BustedDreams, all I have to do now is stay under ten. A month in the UK will be quite a challenge.

cheesenpickles · 15/09/2019 11:09

Scales went up this morning but hardly surprising. Not feeling too rough today but need to do a 16 hour fast today as otherwise I'd be eating at 9pm Grin

SunshineCake · 15/09/2019 12:00

Hello all

I'm okay but mourning not being able to have lovely home made bread anymore. I almost felt breathless when I had a pice last night and have gone up a pound.

Dh made bacon, egg and mushrooms for breakfast and I am making beef chilli pittas but I'll just have the beef, peppers, mushrooms and watercress without the pittas. Have also made oatmeal gf cookies for a snack.

Back to the bike tomorrow.

MrsJonesAndMe · 15/09/2019 15:34

Amazing stuff @FiveShelties

Sounds like a good night out @cheesenpickles Grin

(hugs) @SunshineCake

@BustedDreams had a silly busy day yesterday, so just pulled chilli out for tonight

Have a great evening and here's to a new week!

cheesenpickles · 15/09/2019 15:51

Making the most of this glorious weather and having a BBQ. Perfect for keto Grin

DrDiva · 15/09/2019 16:24

@SunshineCake funnilynenough I was just thinking this morning that homemade bread is my utter downfall on low carb. I made cinnamon bread for DH and DS for Sunday breakfast. BIG mistake!

@FiveShelties my (Kiwi) mum went through a stage of giving us dinner for breakfast. As in a full roast. She’s read somewhere it was healthier, though she never went so far as to give us the wine as well! (You may be able to tell that food was, erm, an ishoo in my upbringing. Hmm Confused Shock )

@BustedDreams I hope we are going to get a pic of your dress at some point? Smile

Roast dinner tonight, then DS and I will go out on yet another cycle ride. The boy is OBSESSED I tell you! (Stealth boast really - he jumped on a bike for the first time six weeks ago and was a total natural.)

Knitclubchatter · 15/09/2019 17:02

Hello, checking in at 152.5 a good measure down. So heading in the right direction.
Cheese, I bet much of the increase is the salt from the pho.
Breakfast over here; oatmeal (slowly cooked) with fresh fruit (peach) about 250 cal worth
Lunch; peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich (I made the jelly last fall and DH bakes bread all the time), I’ll add veggies on the side
Dinner will be; chicken curry, green beans, rice and another veg.
All in all sticking close to 1200 for the day.
Fitting in exercise will be a challenge, it’s raining :(

Knitclubchatter · 16/09/2019 02:28

typing that out looked rather soulless...so the p&j became beef/vegetable soup with spanikopeta (most of the veg from my garden) and supper saw a nice buttercup squash and some tomato again from the garden added to the plate.
i walked and biked.
i hope everyone's monday is productive.

chutneypig · 16/09/2019 04:53

Morning everyone. My weekend wasn’t great food wise but I’m focussed for the week. As I thought my weekly average hasn’t shifted from the previous week. This morning’s weigh in was 0.5 kg down from last Monday, hopefully the start of a downward trend.

breakfast - Huel shake
lunch - tuna, soda bread, skyr and all bran
Dinner - Salmon veg and crisps
Snack - nutrigrain bar

FiveShelties · 16/09/2019 05:40

@DrDiva I love a Roast Dinner, but definitely not for breakfast. Enjoy the bike ride, that will burn some calories offGrin

Everyone seems to be doing really well - cannot believe we are half way through September already. I heard someone on the radio saying how many weeks it was to Christmas this morning - I thought we had just got over Easter.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 16/09/2019 06:24

Good Morning All.

My weekend wasn't great either (well, my Friday and Saturday evening meals) but I've been able to draw a line under them very quickly - blocks technique certainly helps with that - and I was back on plan yesterday morning.

I'm not sure if I've said it on here already, but this is the most in control, consistent, and healthy I've ever been at weight loss and I'm feeling fantastic for it!

Have a great week everyone. 😊

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 16/09/2019 06:27

PS - I had Prosecco at the weekend too, and last time I had a drink (rarely drink due to meds) it completely stalled my weight loss so really interested to see if that happens again.

BustedDreams · 16/09/2019 07:10

Happy Monday Ladies 😊

Stayed on plan yesterday and it was a OMAD Roast Lamb dinner. Today/tomorrow is either lamb hotpot or lamb curry. Home made vegetable soup for lunches.

@FiveShelties sounds delish but alas I cant have couscous as it’s contains gluten. Yes I agree, only 109 days left of 2019. It’s flown by.

@SunshineCake home made bread is hard to resist. I make it my other half in the bread maker and it’s smells so appetising.

@DrDiva I did post a link to one very similar. I’ll see if I’ve still got it open. I love bike rides too! I’m now looking at getting a motorised one Grin

@Knitclubchatter sounds a lovely menu! Congrats on your loss.

@chutneypig Great 1lb loss!

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa That’s great to hear! As well as feeling fantastic I bet you look fantastic too!

Right ladies, there are 15 weeks left of 2019. How will you use yours? So much could be achieved. I for one would like a couple of inches off my waist (proving to be my stubborn area) and to reach a ‘healthy’ BMI. I need to drop 13lbs. Sounds doable in principle but my loss has slowed right down. Yoyoing the same couple of lbs. I won’t beat myself up or put myself under pressure about it, it’s minds eye goal. I’ve lost 2stone being mindful about portion control and eating balanced & nutritious meals. I’m in a better place than I was. I feel healthier, fitter and dropped a couple of dress sizes. How I’ve been eating is a way of life and it isn’t a ‘diet’ iyswim. I needed it to be sustainable and tasty. My OH eats the same foods apart from he has more carbs.

Whatever you’re doing have a great day!

PS 2020 is a Leap year and will have 366 days.

So I’m back 😂

The whole body acceptance thing isn’t working for me. Perhaps I need therapy to deal with it properly but I can’t afford that right now so I’m just going to try and get back to my comfort zone weight wise and see if that does it.

Now is a good time as I’ve just finished training for my new job and I start today- it’s my dream job but it’s tough and it’s going to be a huge learning curve and take up all of my brain space for the next few months (think frontline emergency services) so I won’t be able to obsess over food. And I spoke to the new love interest so I won’t spoil it everytime I’m with her.

I’m staying off the scales for the foreseeable though, I don’t need to know what I weigh right now and frankly I find it quite triggering so I’m going to crack on without and see how I go!

Foreverlexicon · 16/09/2019 07:15

I will read back and have a catch up, I hope everyone is doing well!

BustedDreams · 16/09/2019 07:19

Oups forgot to attach ... Nice piece in the Daily Mail by Dr Michael Moseley. I find his books great. Full of tasty recipes.

Morning all! Welcome back @Foreverlexicon Smile

Scales have gone up this weekend but I'm not overly surprised. Grin I ended up eating more carbs yesterday which I think was a mix of hangover and nerves as eldest started school today.

I did however do 16k steps yesterday and JOINED THE GYM! They have lots of great looking classes and now with my eldest in school my father in law can watch the youngest some mornings while I go and get my work out on. To celebrate I ordered myself some new workout trousers (as all my workout stuff is too big now Grin) and some new headphones. I can also take the kids swimming there for free as well so nice bonus.

Those who go to the gym etc, do fancy pants exercise clothes makes difference? There's so much more range nowadays and I'm tempted to ask for some swishy Sweaty Betty or Lulu Lemon for Christmas.

I'm going to try and keep my OMAD super simple today as I've got some avocados that need using up.

FiveShelties · 16/09/2019 10:04

@BustedDreams - the recipes on that link look lovely - thanks for posting.
@Foreverlexicon - welcome back. I think you are very wise to keep of the scales - I don't know why I need to weight every day, my jeans tell me all I need to knowGrin
@cheesenpickles well done on joining the gym. I would love to join one which has a pool. There is one with an outdoor pool quite close but I cannot imagine swimming outdoors in winter. I am a coward.

FiveShelties · 16/09/2019 10:05

Please excuse typos - watching TV at the same time.Blush

BustedDreams · 16/09/2019 10:22

@cheesenpickles well done on joining the gym, you gym bunny you! I think work out gear can be empowering & motivational, especially if it makes you feel good when wearing it.
