Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

*19.5lbs total

BustedDreams · 13/09/2019 06:41

Good Morning you lovely lot 😊

I’ve got a mini goal of about 7lbs before New Year (full goal is a stone eventually) as I have a navy dress I wish to wear for New Year’s Eve very similar to this One Mine has a bit of embroidery around the waist too. I can get it on and zipped up but there is no wiggle room. I have 110 days Grin

My loss has totally stalled plus I’m up one lb. Probably natural fluctuation and I hope it’s gone by Monday (official weigh day).

Having my hair cut at a different salon today. I have been going to a young lady who opened her own salon last year. She’s a lovely lady and has some creative ideas but my hair is craving a decent cut. At present I have a wonky fringe and my layers are a bit random. Also there are ‘blocks’ of colour when I’d rather have very fine highlights (only cut today) I don’t know how I’m going to explain it when I next go back to her iyswim.

Food wise today:- Stir fried veg (not as much butter or oil). Later, Salmon fillet with spicy brown rice. Coffee with cream, water & white tea.

@SunshineCake I’ve seen how you bloomed on these threads and it’s a lovely thing. You’ve come so far!

@MrsJonesAndMe that’s great! It all adds up.

@Knitclubchatter I also struggle to motivate exercise wise. I generally aim for 10k steps but my tracker is down at the moment.

@cheesenpickles sounds delish 😋 Pork mince stir fry is very tasty.

Whatever you’re doing have a good one.

@MrsJonesAndMe your chocolate pudding and custard sounds lovely. I have some dairy free custard in the fridge and when it is whipped it is delicious.

@Knitclubchatter enjoy your hair cut time.

Well done @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa

Thank goodness it is Friday. I am still bothered by what I talked about earlier. Still the first thing I think of when I wake up and then can't go back to sleep so I've been awake since 5 something so will be shattered later.

I'm up 0.8lb since yesterday which is annoying but then I only walked once with my dog and didn't get on the bike as no time then I was too tired. I also had normal milk in my pasta dish. God help me if I'm that sensitive. (I am supposed to be lactose free). Planned on having left overs today so now I have to decide whether to freeze it until another time, throw it out as no one else will eat it or just eat it and hope I don't go up too much. I have also realised I am due on on Monday so maybe it is that .

SunshineCake · 13/09/2019 06:52

Ah, cross posted @BustedDreams. Blush Thank you Flowers.

cheesenpickles · 13/09/2019 07:05

Oh wow! Well done @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa and @BustedDreams. I'm up 0.2oz this morning @SunshineCake and are really well yesterday so it'll probably drop off imminently.

I'm off to an event this weekend that involves booze but I have to remain professional so hoping I won't get too shitfaced many carbs.

Not sure what to cool for dinner tonight. Have plenty in but it's my husband's pay day so hoping he'll suggest getting a takeaway Grin

chutneypig · 13/09/2019 07:11

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa that’s fantastic progress. Great stuff.

@MrsJonesAndMe I don’t have a window as such but I do adjust sometimes for exercise. It’s a difficult balance to get right, so I do top up but carefully if I feel a bit shaky of an evening.

@SunshineCake I find anything that affects my digestion, even mildly seems to shove me up a couple of pounds. I guess water retention? I’ve been feeling like that this week after my run. If it helps with the food chucking, I don’t find it keeps going up, if that makes sense?

@Knitclubchatter the haircut is a great pick me up, good idea.

My weight has settled a bit after my half but no loss overall from last week. A little frustrating as I was very careful to not overdo my eating before hand and have been very careful this week. I’ve even held fast at a couple of work events with delicious food. One came out of the blue that day so I popped home first and ate what I’d planned so I wasn’t tempted at the event. I need to be focussed heading into the weekend. I tend to count on losses in the week when I can really plan, I have to wing it more at the weekend. But I am determined to be down a couple of pounds by my next half at the end month.

chutneypig · 13/09/2019 07:13

Sorry @BustedDreams I meant to say what a glorious dress. That’s a great aim to have in mind. It’s very elegant.

SunshineCake · 13/09/2019 08:20

I am eating the left overs for breakfast and have taken two digestive tablets to help. Will be going out soon to walk with my good friend and she walks fast Grin.

When I have followed other plans I found I lost a stone relatively easily then nothing. I wonder sometimes if our bodies get too used to the regime, be it lower calories and/or more exercise, and weight loss stalls.

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/09/2019 12:14

Hello all

Thanks for the messages, I climbed on today and I'm officially 8kgs down from 30 July 81.1kg Blush to 13 Sep 73.1kg. That's 17.5lbs in old money and 12 1/2lb in August and 5 in September.

I normally do just the yoga which doesn't make me hungry, so the swimming was new.

Tonight, we are having steak, steamed baby corn and sugar snap peas and a ready made potato dauphinoise.

Just about to go tackle my accounts Hmm

Lovely dress and great motivator @BustedDreams

Amazing progress @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa

Hope the hair cuts go well! I need one too!

cheesenpickles · 13/09/2019 14:40

Can I get a well done? Just been for a work related thing and turned down a free fish and chip/stodgy pudding lunch. I may have had to lie to a priest about why I couldn't want to join them for lunch but surely I won't go to hell for that right (also, I'm an atheist so probably shouldn't really matter to me anywayGrin)

Knitclubchatter · 13/09/2019 16:04

Love the dress busted!!
153.3 down .2 I’m good with that
Lots of good food choices!
Lying to a priest is cute, made me smile.
Keep up the good work everyone.

Cary2012 · 13/09/2019 17:17

Hi all, loads to catch up on, hugs to those who need them. We're all doing well though, even if our losses are small, still progress! I swerved the huge packet of biscuits my ex TA left in the staffroom today, so that's good. Keeping within my calorie range, must drink more water because that's lapsed a bit. In other news I have a new year 7 class who are so lovely. I usually teach year 11s, so very different. I learnt today that Charles Darwin wrote 'A Christmas Carol' and he was on the last series of Love Island!! Amazing! Grin Have a lovely evening all.

SunshineCake · 13/09/2019 18:55

Well done @cheesenpickles!

Knitclubchatter · 14/09/2019 04:25

some shady food choices (a lovely scone treat) and potentially a salty supper (a burger and fries, home made small patty on a dinner roll vs proper burger bun and home made fries from one small potato) but i got my steps in at a nice fast pace with my heart rate well in the 120's. tiny bike ride and lots of other little jobs done.
i sure hope the rest of you slept well and are ready for a weekend of good food choices :)

cheesenpickles · 14/09/2019 07:14

We splurged with a takeaway last night and I totally ate the pitta bread and had a cookie. It came under 1400 calories though so was happy with that. On the scales this morning and I'm 0.1lb down. Woohoo.

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/09/2019 07:35

Well done @cheesenpickles that made me giggle too

@Cary2012 that is funny and scary in equal measure

Got lots of boring jobs to get on with today like weeding and sorting stuff and ironing. Baking some cake too - but of course I can't eat it then. Planning chicken, mash and veggies for tea.

Have a great day all of you!

chutneypig · 14/09/2019 07:46

Excellent work @cheesenpickles Grin

That’s a good solid walk @Knitclubchatter. The burger sounds delicious with some great swaps.

I’ve sat down an planned next week’s food out and carved down a little, so I’ve got scope for the odd extra. I think that will help. I’m getting much better at logging everything, we have so much food around at work I do occasionally crack and have a sweet. I didn’t log it in the past, but I am now.

Off to parkrun soon so that should burn a few calories!

DrDiva · 14/09/2019 08:40

Well done @cheesenpickles Grin

@Cary2012 this Darwin fella clearly also held the secret to eternal life!

After a really good day yesterday I fell off a bit in the evening. DS is up for a really long bike ride though so hopefully that will help rectify things.

Knitclubchatter · 14/09/2019 16:19

I love how everyone has a personal way of balancing food and exercise out! It is motivating.
152.9 small very appreciated loss

cheesenpickles · 14/09/2019 16:20

I'm going to be off the wagon a tad tonight. Meeting my friend for a big bowl of pho (drool) and then off to a gin festival. It's work related so like expenses I can claim those calories and carbs back right? Grin

Knitclubchatter · 14/09/2019 16:42

Cheese, I’m not familiar with pho, is it not high salt but relatively low cal?

cheesenpickles · 14/09/2019 17:21

It's actually quite healthy I think but the noodle aspect makes it very carb heavy. I think s big bowl with chicken/veg/tofu/prawns is sub 500. But carb content is in the 80/100gs mark.

Knitclubchatter · 14/09/2019 18:14

yes i understand about the carby noodles. under 500 is good though. don't be surprised if the salt affects the scales for 3 days. bananas help though. something about the potassium helps balance/flush the sodium.

FiveShelties · 14/09/2019 23:48

I cannot believe how swiftly this thread is moving. My weigh in day today and I have actually dipped (ever so slightly) below 10 stone which I am delighted with. It has taken a long time of losing and regaining the same 10 pounds.

I am 9st 13.8lbs and am determined not to regain the 10 pounds which I have lost since 1st July. I have two weeks before I return to UK for a month so I would love to lose a bit more before that.

Off to read all the posts now - have a fantastic week everyoneGrin

cheesenpickles · 15/09/2019 02:59

Just got in the house. I was meant to be home at 9pm. Woops expecting a bollocking in the morning.
