Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Keto peeps today is first day (10) where I think my body is doing the thing it's meant to. I literally don't feel hungry AT ALL. Nowt. It's the oddest thing. Had bullet coffee this morning and just made cauliflower and broccoli creamed soup and I could take it or leave it. Very strange!!! But good?!?!

dancingmom · 05/08/2019 13:20

Er.... did you all get that?!!! 😂😂😂😂

cheesenpickles · 05/08/2019 13:21

Haha just about @dancingmom. It's SO freeing when the keto kicks in. Smile

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/08/2019 13:36

Har har - that was crazy! Well done @cheesenpickles Grin and @dancingmom Grin Grin Grin

Good luck @suchsweetsorrow82 and @chutneypig

Change in plan here... chicken salad for lunch, so I've had:

hot choc and 2 bites of DC's tiffen that they ordered and then didn't finish Hmm

Chicken and chorizo rice/veg soup - no bread

Planning: pineapple & nuts
roast chicken salad with few left over new pots
2 squares of Lindt dark choc with hazelnuts

Alaimo · 05/08/2019 13:47

Went to a yoga class yesterday, and it was so good. Best one I've been to in a long time. The whole lesson focused on hip-opening and hip-strengthening exercises. According to my physio my weak hips are what's causing my knee injuries, so was great to really target that area, even if it doesn't burn a lot of calories.

Yesterday:
Breakfast: fresh berries, skyr, little bit (15-20g) of cereal
Lunch: 1 slice of toast with avocado and a fried egg
Dinner: home made veggie burger, 1/2 white bun, salad

Snack: latte in the morning & 2 small squares of white chocolate in the evening (was craving chocolate. Luckily there were only 2 squares left, otherwise I would have eaten more of it)

Today:
Breakfast: As yesterday
Lunch: 2 soft boiled eggs w. one slice of toast
Dinner: salad with broad & edamame beans, feta cheese, seeds & avocado. Served with 2 veggie sausages.

Snack: either banana or nuts as a pre-gym snack

@cheesenpickles Clubbercise is the absolute best exercise class I have ever been to. I love that it's dark so if I screw up the moves nobody can really see, and it feels more like dancing than exercise. Hope you have fun.

dancingmom · 05/08/2019 14:36

@MrsJonesAndMe if I had ONE bite I'd have snarfed the lot. Good self control. 💪🏻 @cheesenpickles I'm hoping this continues! Other than that ongoing heart burn... swings and roundabouts etc

Oysterbabe · 05/08/2019 15:17

I drink apple cider vinegar. I have no idea if it does anything but I quite enjoy it. If you mix it with sparkling water you can pretend it's really terrible cava 😂

My OMAD today is going to be kedgeree and I'm practically counting the minutes. Days I work are easy but on my days off my mind turns to food at around this time!

cheesenpickles · 05/08/2019 15:43

I've been to the supermarket and bought a giant pizza for the fam and I've got leftovers. But got myself some sneaky keto friendly pickings. Mini cheeses, pickled eggs (love em, don't judge Grin) and meaty snack galore. I so look forward to dinner nowadays.

dancingmom · 05/08/2019 16:08

@BustedDreams does ACV give you heart burn? I haven't tried it yet

chutneypig · 05/08/2019 17:34

@suchsweetsorrow82 it took me a while to work out the best way to make them. They’re much nicer texture if you make them up the night before and leave them in the fridge. I have the mint chocolate one and really like that. I started with them last year as I was staying in Airbnbs in the week and didn’t always have cooking facilities. I wouldn’t be without them now. I’m going camping next week and have got the ready made versions to take so I don’t miss out.

Ornery · 05/08/2019 17:41

No weight change last 2 days but % fat slowly dropping on scales. No weight change due to Thai take-away on sat Grin I was curious what effect it would have, and with everything else under control am pleased that I can still make those decisions once in a while.
In crap news, my elliptical is broken and I have to wait for a spare part. Was intending to add in some exercise to see how that went (usually my weight tracks upwards if I commit sport).
This thread is busy! I’m still figuring out who everyone is - it’s interesting to see different things working for different people.

StepAwayFromTheChoc · 05/08/2019 18:16

Slept terribly last night which I think has made me hungrier than usual but managed to stick to plan so far
Lunch was homemade butternut squash and chilli soup with some slices of baguette
Snacked on an apple and some chickpea puffs
Tea is going to be italian baked eggs with some veggie sausages (it literally sounds like I survive on veggie sausages but I'm just trying to use them up Grin ) and little chocolate pot for afterwards

Going to attempt my first proper 500cal fast day tomorrow when I'm at work. Planning on 2 hard boiled eggs for lunch and a tub of chopped cucumber and tomatoes and then the leftover soup of tea maybe with quorn cocktail sausages which would come to 509 cals...anyone that is 5:2ing does this sound ok?

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/08/2019 18:21

Hi @BustedDreams It certainly did play up. They had some problems at HQ. Hopefully you didn't get disrupted too much with the workmen in?

@dancingmom I'm really struggling to stuff my face in the way I used to before...a good thing obviously. Ask me again tomorrow as my period progresses Wink

Sounds like a good class @Alaimo and good food diary too.

Well done with all the exercise, resisting temptation and making good choices all!

rushka · 05/08/2019 18:43

Hi everyone! Yes, site was down when I tried earlier - and now i’ve missed so many updates!! Brilliant hearing how everyone is doing, and for getting meal ideas!
I ran with the dog today, and saw two baby deer leaping about in a wheat field so that was rather fabulous.
It’s taking some adjustment eating less! I’ve had1600 today and am done, but could easily keep going! I had:
Porridge for breakfast
Whole wheat wrap with bacon, avocado&salad, and an apple for lunch
Quorn bolognese (homemade with lots of hidden veg) with wholewheat spaghetti for supper. Snacked on pineapple & raspberries.
So, a healthy day but I need patience about the results - my shorts are snug and so it’s easy to feel disheartened... This group is such a help for keeping going!

Foreverlexicon · 05/08/2019 19:39

I’ve reversed tactics about 30 seconds after my post when I became starving hungry.
Decided I’m going to give 1800 calories a go for a while. Bit more leeway than before which will hopefully keep my mind a bit more on track. Also unfortunately I have discovered this month that super cheap food really is generally higher in calories and with my tax issues, super cheap food has to do for a month - especially with packed lunches for work as I don’t have access to any cooking facilities and trying to avoid microwave food as there’s a good 10/15 min queue for it where I work at the moment!

However with 15,000 steps and a 40 min ride on the horse (this is a standard day), I think it will be alright. I’m down 12lb in total so as long as I keep chugging away I will get there!

rushka · 05/08/2019 19:40

Hmm... my weak resolve crumbled and i’ve just eaten a load of banana cake. Grr. Feeling cross with myself, but determined to move on. At least i’m definitely full now, so no longer want to eat anymore!!! 😕 Start fresh tomorrow...

SunshineCake · 05/08/2019 19:44

I'd like to join, am I too late ?

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 05/08/2019 19:49

SW Weigh In tonight, lost 4lbs. 10.5lbs in total. 😊

Somuchroom · 05/08/2019 20:20

@rushka don’t stress, these things happen. I ate my body weight in shite on Saturday.

Had my weigh in this morning and have maintained. Could have been worse really considering Saturday.

Today I decided to fast until 2pm as I didn’t actually feel hungry.

I’ve had 2 rye breads with cottage cheese, a slice on each of left over quorn roast and cucumber.

Dinner was mushroom and veggie bacon rissoto followed by a mini milk.

Just had a low cal hot chocolate.

I’ve got 533 calories left of my allowance so will be raiding the cupboard for a treat in a minute and trying to save a few calories for a takeaway on Saturday.

Evening munchies always get me.

Somuchroom · 05/08/2019 20:21

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa well done that is an amazing loss Smile

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/08/2019 23:09

#MrsJonesAndMe I felt they were negligent diagnosing my problem.

I did gp. Gp again. X ray. Gp's lost x ray. Then found it and phoned me to say all was well. I then self referred for physio. Who spent 10 weeks doing different things. Then was referred to the hospital. They referred me back to the physion to see a chartered physiotherapist. He gave up with me and referred me to orthopaedics. The surgeon pointed at my 3 year + old original x ray and pointed out the problem straight away. Then it was a steroid injection. Then an arthroscopy appt.

All those years of favouring my leg has left it very weak.

I'm sure the exercises I've been given are going to help - but bloody hell! I can't walk today! Whoever said upthread that it would hurt worse today was right. I just hope it's a bit better tomorrow as DD2 (14) has an appt for an introduction to the gym for a junior membership and I will be taking her and at least hitting the treadmill for some fast walking (with air con) to get some exercise in.

Food wise - not awful but not brilliant today. I had a dinner 'date' with a friend and had a bar snack meal.

Well done to all those who are far more in charge of their eating than I've chosen to be so far.

Foreverlexicon · 06/08/2019 06:55

Feeling pretty pleased with myself - just finished a 5km run and Will ride the horse later.
Food will be;
Scrambled egg on toast and a satsuma
Sausage and salad wrap, crisps and a couple of donut peaches.
Apple
Gammon stew with green beans and a slice of garlic bread
Bit of choc for pudding

Seems like a lot of food but I’m confident that if I stick to it then I should still lose; just not as fast as some of us on here but i’ve Come to accept that!

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/08/2019 07:01

It was indeed me who said it will hurt more. Hope it's better today!

Welcome @SunshineCake plenty of time to still lose some weight. What are you planning on doing?

Well done @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa

I'm planning on not fasting today but eating sensibly, so:
yogurt and blueberries
nut and seed bar
seeded loaf with chicken and salad - not in the mood for another salad
nuts
steak with onion, peppers and sweet potato wedges
bowl of pop corn.

Hoping the 3x meals plus 3x snacks will be on balance healthy and filling and get me through a busy day.

Just about to go hop on the scales Smile

Have a lovely day!
