Hi everyone!

I’m starting a VLCD (Slim and Save) on 1st Jan and wondering is anyone starting too? Or Cambridge, Exabte etc and maybe we could keep each other motivated?

The urge for lazy day pizza is strong! Keep rationalising one slice, but I know I can't! Ahhh keep getting a proper craving for it! Day 13, weigh in day on Tues. I can stick to this! I think haha

Pitapotamus · 13/01/2019 14:58

I’m on the verge of quitting today. The whole thing is just making me really hangry all the time and the weight loss is so slow (0.2kg in the last 4 days) that it just isn’t motivating at all. At this rate I’m no longer on track to lose a stone by 31st jan and I’m struggling to get through my days because I’m so irritable.

Does everyone else have young kids? Mine are 7, 5 and 18months and the older two are constantly bickering and causing trouble at the moment and because of the littlest one I get no “time off” when the older two are at school (I work p/t). I’m really behind on all my jobs because I’m so freezing every evening that I just hibernate on the sofa. It just doesn’t seem worth it anymore given I’m putting in so much effort and losing so little weight.

BishopBrennansArse · 13/01/2019 15:35

@Aridane yep... and diahorrea 😫

Aridane · 13/01/2019 15:37

No diarrhoea bit, ahem, huge long logs of tarry sticky poo that wouldn't flush without manual intervention...

BishopBrennansArse · 13/01/2019 15:37

@Pitapotamus mine aren't going but they bicker terribly so you have my sympathy.

Try not to cave, you can do this... you don't want to do day 3-4 again do you?

Have you heard of the whoosh effect? That could still happen, stay with it

BishopBrennansArse · 13/01/2019 15:37

going young

Aridane · 13/01/2019 15:38

(am not the poo troll, honest)

BishopBrennansArse · 13/01/2019 15:38

Oh dear Ariadne, think I'm slightly better off, sorry

ClashCityRocker · 13/01/2019 15:53

Ariadne I had that.... And then the diarrhoea came later!

Having to use all my willpower today. Dh and I have blitzed the house and would usually have a takeaway for tea. I'm doing a flexi day today anyway so having chicken kebabs and salad for tea.

Which is kind of like a takeaway anyway, isn't it?

So why the hell am I having to totally distract myself and tell myself off?! It's like I've got a devil on my shoulder saying 'go on... You've done well, you deserve it....'

I keep telling myself I am not a dog, I do not reward myself with food.

Kittensgalore · 13/01/2019 16:01

How much left do you have to lose Pitapotamus? Most of us posting big losses I would guess have a lot still to go whereas you are near the end? So that combined with your under active thyroid ( I think you said? Sorry if I've imagined that!) I guess could be slowing everything down for you?

My kids are not as young but not teens either & the fighting is awful. I also just want to hibernate, have been feeling like a really crap mum as haven't wanted to do anything with them, just want to wrap up in a duvet with a hot water bottle and read my book.

I had some gem lettuce ( who knew gem lettuce could be so delicious) yesterday along with some meat that DP had cooked. He was like ' oh it will be fine, just have some, it's just protein) it was only as I was eating it that I realised it was pork belly, gawd knows how many calories I consumed. It was only a small amount but still. Been good today though.

Kittensgalore · 13/01/2019 16:02

Aridane, I have been quite stinky at times too Blush

rainbowgrimm · 13/01/2019 17:32

Sorry to hear your struggling Pitapotamus. What we're doing is frigging hard, there's no shame in deciding it's not working for you at this time.
Have you considered doing 5:2 if you've got any packs left? Might be more sustainable for you. Wishing you the best x

Kittensgalore · 13/01/2019 17:41

Yes good idea Rainbow, good way to use up spare packs too.

harvlukmad1 · 13/01/2019 17:51

Hi gogojo
I’m jo 14 stone hoping to get to 11 stone
Any tips I read you’ve done well before 🙈

Pitapotamus · 13/01/2019 18:04

Thanks kittens, yes l think it’s partly the fact that I’ve not got much left to lose (7lbs now) that is making the weight loss so slow, they do always say that the last little bit is the hardest to get rid of. I have medication for the under active thyroid so hopefully that’s not contributing.

I managed not to cave earlier when I was at a low point but I’ve decided to have 4 packs rather than 3 today and I’m going to start allowing myself two cups of tea with milk each day too, it shouldn’t make much difference diet wise but it would make the world of difference to how I cope!

ClashCityRocker · 13/01/2019 18:06

pitapotamus I don't have kids, let alone young ones. It must be frustrating to stick to such a tough diet and see so little results....as well as having to deal with little ones!

However, I do know that plateaus are part and parcel of any weight loss regime... Bodies are funny things. Do you think it might help to increase the length of time you go between weighing in? I know it's personal preference.

Pitapotamus · 13/01/2019 18:28

Yes, I should definitely increase the length of time between weigh ins! Or maybe even stop weighing all together and just see where I am on 31 jan given that I’m moving to 5:2 at that point regardless. It’s like an addiction though!

Kittensgalore · 13/01/2019 18:30

I have so nearly caved, a hiding upstairs, have had a shower and about to brush my teeth! Not sure I will convince the kids they should be in bed by 7 but if I could I would. I really do just want to hibernate and wake up in April.

ClashCityRocker · 13/01/2019 18:50

Must admit, I don't have scales in the house for that reason... I just use the ones at my gym

(about the only reason I go to the gym at the minute 😂 😂)

makingmiracles · 13/01/2019 19:31

@daymanchampionofthesun if the urge is that strong, how about a low carb pizza?
I’m having one tomorrow as the family are having pizza and I know I would cave if I sat there with a shake or ate fish etc so I’m making a cauliflower base pizza, a little tom purée on top, some red onion, some mushrooms and a bit of grated cheese, might add a little ham or something for protein. Sounds weird but I love it just as much as “real” pizza

@pittopotamus try sticking with it till end of jan and see what your loss is then as your so near to target, remember, people of a more normal size only usually lose max 1-2lb a week when dieting, it’s usually only those of us with half our body weight to lose that loose 3-10lbs a week!

I’m on day 7 today, managed to resist the party food, just took a small pot of tiny cubed cheese to tide me over, had a shake lunchtime and low carb fish tea and will have another shake before bed later on this eve. Tea was hard as family had pies, veg, roasties and Yorkshire’s but I completely resisted so that was good.

On the subject of poo, I cannot fart in fear it’s not a fart iyswim. Can’t trust this diet so have to keep remembering to head to the loo if I feel the urge to fart as it’s not worth the risk!

@clash can totally relate to the voice in your head thing, have had it myself over the last few days, mostly in connection to seeing cereal or bread being eaten, it’s terrible, like carbs are drugs lol. Each time I get the voice I just think, nope, I’m going to go swimming in the summer with the kids, I will fit in and wear a costume.

Today is day 2 of not smoking for me also, so I’m pleased with that.

Pitapotamus · 13/01/2019 20:42

Hope you’re feeling better now kittens! I am doing a lot better this evening, thanks everyone for the support! This diet certainly sends you on major ups and downs (mostly downs)!!

I think anything minor that goes wrong in the day makes me want to eat, I need to change those habits so I’m painting my nails now!

Littlemissdaredevil · 13/01/2019 22:00

Have my weight on Sat and have lost 11lbs which I am pleased with as I have started my period

lexie555 · 13/01/2019 23:45

ok so as of today we are going on a couples holiday in july with quite a few of our friends😕deffo good motivation lol determinded not to be the fat one over there (cyprus btw) or even the fatter one. 6 months away deffo enough time to lose 3 stone and tone up a little😊

lexie555 · 13/01/2019 23:48

btw we are all 22/23 and all my friends have amazing body's.. even though most of them has a child to...guess im da only 1 who used that as an excuse to get fat😕😕

MissElaineNeus · 14/01/2019 06:45

Ariadne, farting like a trooper here too. It's the meals with loads of soya protein that set me off, like the tikka masala I had last night.

Pita, I do highly recommend not weighing at all! When there's nothing you can change about your diet, what's the point? It just depresses you if you have a bad day and makes you more likely to go off piste. Or maybe just measure each week?

I'm a week in now, around 5 to go before I change it up a bit. I did measure my hips just to make sure something was happening and there's an inch off!

Good luck to everyone, this is tough but we can do it.
