New threads ladies!

sweetheart...it's easy to get obcessed about these things...but maybe coming back to the thread will give you your motivation back
Another thread I find really helpful and good is the 10/10 thread.....it's more about health ratehr then dieting...it's about gettting more fruit and vegetables in, and ratehr then aiming for the "recommended" 5 we aim for 10....and the aim on that thread is also to do 10 minutes of exercise a day...at least....

Laloop, hoe you get a Exercise DVD done...

sammac · 13/08/2007 20:03

Now see what you lot have started- I've only now got a davina dvd and waiting to see if I've won a nell one off ebay. I think I've succombed! It was good to see everyone's input and thoughts on the exercise dvds out there at the moment, thank you all

3andnomore · 13/08/2007 20:13

lol...e very aware...exercise dvd's can become addictive

speedymama · 14/08/2007 09:45

Hi all

No exercise for few days due to my time of month so hoping to go for a 2 mile run tomorrow.

Welcome back Sweetheart! I think the key to sticking with a programme is to set realistic goals to achieve in a realistic timeframe. Maybe if you focus on losing 4lbs in six weeks, you will find it more achievable. Also remember, muscles occupies less space than fat so even if you are not losing weight, you will look slimmer and your clothes will feel looser. Therefore, try not to weigh yourself more than once every two weeks..

Welcome to Sammac too. Great to have another exerciser on board. Which Nell dvd are you bidding for?

I've just bought another dance DVD from Amazon and it is totally different from anything I have done before. It is called Danceafreaka and is based on African dance. When I have done it, I'll post a review.

3andnomore · 14/08/2007 11:35

Hi,
that DVD sounds...erm...different, lol....but I bet it's kinda cool, and you will probably be using muscles that you have never ever used before
I suppose I am lucky that even when I am on I can still go about life as normal, including exercise...wold have been well stuffed otherwise, what with me being almost constantly on for the past almost 2 years.....!
Just hoping that now that darn implant is out and I am back on the pill it will sort itself out.Although had already a period dispite being only half way or so through the pill packet...but I suppose it will need a while...
Well...done Tae Bo Energise the basic workout, as I got up a bit late and am off to work later, etc...only a late shift though.

sammac · 14/08/2007 18:21

I've ordered davina power of 3, a reebok big ball, and bidding on peak energy by nell.
About to go to a step class at seven.

Must just share with you- went back to work today after our summer hols- what a brillaint reaction from all my friends at work saying how great I was looking. has taken the long hols for them to see the difference. still getting texts in! Lost almost 5 stones in 4 months so there is a difference1

3andnomore · 14/08/2007 23:28

Sam...wow, what an amazing achievement...and it msut be so cool to get positive reactions.....well done you....
and I see you caught the bug

laloop · 15/08/2007 12:02

Well done sammac

I went for a walk last night after put dc's to bed, was probably about 4 miles or so. Still finding it really difficult to fit in any exercise around the dc's being at home during the day, roll on September...

What's everyone else up to today?

speedymama · 15/08/2007 13:09

Sammac, Wow, 5 stones! Congratulations. Are you at your target weight now and just focusing on toning up as well as becoming fitter?

I lost about 3.5 stone in 7 months after having my twins and it took about as long to lose the last stone.

Yesterday DH and I spent 20 minutes doing crunches, press ups and bicep curls with the dumbbells.

This morning as I was getting ready to go for a run, the heavens opened so I did the Taebo Advance workout on Everybody Get Ripped.

3andnomore · 15/08/2007 13:24

laloop · 16/08/2007 19:44

I'm in lazy bum mode too today, 3anm! Will try to do something tomorrow instead

speedymama · 19/08/2007 22:05

I did Peak Energy DVD by Nell on Friday morning and in the evening DH and I worked out with our dumbbells in the garden plus we did press ups and ab exercises.

No exercise since then.

It must be the weather to explain the paucity of exercise being undertaken.

Hi

Have just typed out a long post and lost it, grrr!!!

Anyway, school hols almost over and I'll soon be back into the gym routine, YIPPEE

Have been walking a few nights a week and that's about it recently. Back at WW again too as feeling out of shape after the excesses of summer (if you can call it a summer after the crappy weather we've had here!). Got a kayak so will be out playing on that this weekend with the dcs.

Have got this month's copy of Runner's World mag and hoping that a read through this will help entice me back out on the running front. There's always loads of inspiring articles and tips to improve times etc.

Hope everyone's well, where are you all??????

Lorns · 27/08/2007 23:11

Hi to everyone - I'm back!!!

Just a quick post as I should be getting to bed. Had a fantastic holiday and glad the weather is not too bad at the mo to come home to....

Well my hopes for a gym were a bit dashed as I found it in the reception of the turkish bath centre (went to Turkey). It was dark and dingy with a very old looking bike and cross trainer, 2 broken weights machines and a small selcrtion of handweights. Needless to say I only tried doing a weights workout once and sweated like a pig as there was no air-con AND had everyone who passed by looking at me!!

All was not lost though as there were 3 swimming pools (a childrens' one, a leisure/general pool and an adults only swimming pool called "Oasis". Well it was supposed to be!

My first trip there was o.k. - once the adults has realised I did so not want them in my way whilst I was ploughing up and down!

On my 2nd trip I encountered (gasp) a child in the pool. I casually mentioned to a man who was sunbathing that I thought this was an adults only pool and then thought he could have been a bit more in agreement with me. Well I soon found out that he had a son that was also using the pool!!! FOOT IN MOUTH OR WHAT!

Anyway although I didn't use the pool every day, those that were staying around the same time as me soon realised that they and their children should stay out of my way - although I still encountered the odd scatty adult who just stood in my way - even though they had the rest of the pool to stand in!!!

You know people who don't exercise are so funny. More that once after swimming I had people come up to me and ask if I was training for something! Er no just keeping fit. Hey look at my body then look at yours..... Does that sound too conceited? Reading back I must sound like a really selfish, pig-headed, single minded girlie.... !!! I'm soooo not!

Here endeth the not so short post!!

Hi to sammac. I teach bodypump and continually notice improvements in peoples' body shapes. Keep up the good work!!

OrmIrian · 28/08/2007 12:06

Hello.

Glad to see so many of you still here. I haven't been because I still have a bad leg. It feels fine and lovely until I try to run or walk up a steep slope. 50 yards down Croyde beach on Sunday and I was limping again. So fed up by this now

Can't find a good sports physio here and the one I used to know seems to have moved away.

speedymama · 28/08/2007 16:15

That is bad news Ormrian. I hope you can find someone soon who can help.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time Lorns..

My exercising has grind to a standstill in the past week due to sore achilles tendon. It feels a lot better now so planning on doing some gentle exercise with DH this evening (dumb-bells variety I should add .

I've just picked up a free VHS copy of Cindy Crawford's workout. Another one for the collection. It's probably dated now but I'll give it a go.

We are going away for a few days in September and I would like to wear a gold slinky dress for dinner in the evenings so need to reduce my midriff (again!). Does not help that I've just baked some chocolate brownies. What was I thinking?

OP posts:
speedymama · 29/08/2007 08:41

DH and I did a great session in the garden yesterday evening. We started with 4 sets of press ups (I did 4 x10) followed by 3 sets of abs exercise. I then did 3 sets of leg lunges followed by 3 sets of squats whilst holding dumbbells. My legs were burning after that. I then did exercises for arms, shoulder and back using my dumbbells. At one stage I was supersetting so I got a really good burn. DH was really impressed.

Felt really energised afterwards and we tucked into a bowl of Tuna polpetine that I had made earlier followed by a piece of chocolate brownie that I had made at the weekend.

Lorns · 29/08/2007 09:55

Hi Ormirian - sorry to hear that your leg is still playing up. Where do you live? If you want I can lokk into who is in your area that may be able to help.

Do you have private medical insurance?

Speedy supersets hey!!!. Where are you off too on holiday?

Hope your achilles is ok and not too sore after the lunges. Can you go swimming or cycling to get some CV without stressing your tendon?

Also have you thought about getting a bar with a weight selection as these are great for all manner of exercises including squats and lunges? If yuo ever do I'd be hapy to let you know of some exercises!!

OrmIrian · 29/08/2007 09:57

Hi Lorns,

I'm in Somerset. I do have a payback scheme that will pay half the costs up to about £300 a year so not great but better than nowt. I would really appreciate it. I can't find anyone here other than the physio that my GP sent me to and he wasn't much good.

thanks

3andnomore · 02/09/2007 10:41

well done on the exercising Speedy
Orm, sorry to hear about your leg still being bad
Lorns, how is it going?
Well, I have not exercised in almost 2 weeks now, and feel rubbish for it (especially as it conincided with eating a lot of rubbish, lol)...but tomorrow I will start again, and get back into my normal routine, i.e. I will have to get up at 5 am....might aswell, get myself back into the swing of things, what with Holidays almost being over.

sammac · 02/09/2007 23:47

Quick update- still on my classes- felt great at this morning's body attack- did the best session ever, and boy was I a sweat monster. Am seeing a difference in my fitness levels for definate. Wish I could go to more classes but life intevenes! Anyway went out this afternoon and bought some tops and bottoms for wearing as my trousers are too big and have to keep stopping to hoist them up! Think dh appreciated the show in my tight fitting numbers at least. Have also found that I have much higher energy levels throughout the day. Thanks for your encouragement, it really helps

speedymama · 03/09/2007 09:42

Hi All

No exercise over weekend because of yukky periods. Anyway, will get back into the swing of things this week.

My achilles is a lot better now so will do a short run later this week to test it out.

A lady at work has been giving away old videos and DVDs. She gave me a Basic Pilates DVD by Lynne Robinson and Shape Your Body video by Cindy Crawford. I look forward to trying them out, especially the Cindy one.
