New threads ladies!

Thank you speedymama
I have noticed that I feel taller!!

So although am tempted as do need to lose a small shedsworth of weight to go down the lighter life/ cambridge route, I'm going to stick with my spinning addiction and just see where it brings me!!

You seem to like running, fab. Cannot do as have a rotten back and have rheum arthritis so pretty dodgy joints so the cycling lark is extraordinarily liberating.
Really if i had thought I'd be doing this a few months ago, i'd never have believed it!!

3andnomore · 30/07/2007 22:28

Hi All,
did Tae BO Basic/get ripped workout today and the first Hollywood workout....didn't do anything yesterday, but did do Tae BO and Davina (Core) on Saturday...

Friendlyedjit....what exactly is actually spinning...I have heard about it, but don't know what it is!
Sounds like you are doing great though, so, well done

3andnomore · 31/07/2007 13:31

Did Kate's Cardio combo workout today and really enjoyed it
Also doing plenty of cleaning today....got a friend come to stay, lol!

friendlyedjit · 31/07/2007 13:56

3 and no more- my spinning description!!
Spinning- lots of happy people cycling to loud music-
The instructor leads by getting everyone to increase/ decrease resistance along to the tempo of the music and we do hill climbs both seated and standing- with a few sprints for good measure.
I usually drink at least 3/4 L of water during the class. No stopping with the cycling action, and I sweat bucket loads.. how atractive! I find it fantastic, as cannot manage floor based exercise but feel like a maniac on a bike!
Lots of lovely gals go to the class and seem to go regularly so think they're addicts too!!!
Try it out

3andnomore · 31/07/2007 14:04

Sounds really cool...doubt there will be a class anywhere near here and then there is that whole getting to a class thing (time, etc...) but if I ever do get teh chance then I will give it a go

speedymama · 31/07/2007 14:21

I have a DVD which overall is rubbish but it does have a bike section in the middle which I suspect maybe spinning. I'll have to dig it out and have a look.

DH is working late tonight so I'm hoping to do a DVD after putting DTS to bed.

Hi everyone - beautriful day here - what where you are?

Hi to friendlyedjit - great to hear that spinning is been of benefit to you and not affecting your arthritis. Hopefully you can keep the flare ups at bay....

Aqua is also very good for you. Do you manage to get a sweat up/heart rate up when doing a class?

Ormirian - hope your over your injury soon. Could you stay off the running and do the DVD's instead or go to your ds's gym sometimes?

Just had a thought everyone who does running. Have you thought about investigating if there is a running club you could join near you???

speedymama · 01/08/2007 09:25

Hi Lorns

There is a running club near me but unfortunately, we have no babysitters for the twins and no family/friends nearby. DH tends to work late often so I would find it difficult to attend regularly.

I have a dodgy tummy so did not managed to do any exercise yesterday. I'm hoping to go for a gentle 2 mile run tomorrow (before DH goes to work!).

OP posts:
Lorns · 01/08/2007 13:36

Hi speedy - tht did cross my mind re babysitters. I'm in the same boat and it's always a juggling act!!

friendlyedjit · 01/08/2007 14:35

Hi Lorns- yep love Aqua and do get heart pumping and also turn a slight shade of damson, not quite as good as spinning where get the award for "the reddest person"!.
I try and be as active during aqua as possible so do get a good workout, and the instructor does push us!

it is a fab day today.. so enjoy !

speedymama · 02/08/2007 10:01

I ran two miles this morning and then spent 10 minutes on the exercise bike followed by some toning exercises (lunges, bicep curls etc) with the weights.

Feel really energised now!

HI All..Basitter thing is my reason for not joining a GYm...one day though

Well, did Nell's Peak Energy this morning, but only used 1/2 Ibs weights for teh arm section...still was a killer but only had to flunkpart of one exercise towards the end, lol...and did about 30 of the push ups before dying a slow death and going for some water....lol
bought a GYmball today (was halfprice at just under £3.00...will come in handy for some weight training, but really would like to get a DVD of GYmball exercises...must check out E-bay

speedymama · 03/08/2007 15:44

3anm, Cathe Friedrich uses a gymball in her routines, according to the cover. I have yet to see her DVDs on ebay though.

I've just completed a 4 mile run and boy, it was hard. So hard that I was nearly 3 minutes slower than my usual time. I was so disappointed but at least I completed it. My legs felt really heavy as well and I found it difficult to increase my pace.

I could not believe how hot it was at 8 am. Usually I tend to do my Saturday runs at 7 am but I was being lazy this morning.

Afterwards I did some ab exercises, press ups followed by stretching. That's it for today!

Hope everyone enjoys the good weather whilst it last and that you manage to get some exercise in.

Hi everyone

Away for last week or so, hope you're all well. Welcome to friendlyedjit

Back to the exercise regime for me. Going to give Harvey Walden's workout a try this morning. Also thinking of training up for 10k running distance - have found a women only 10k race being held nearby (it's planned for next year so that should give me plenty of time to up my distance, here's hoping... )

Catch up with you all soon, have a great day!

speedymama · 07/08/2007 13:19

Hi Laloop

Hope you enjoyed your holiday.

DH and I worked out yesterday with our own weights. We did half an hour of squats, bicep curls, tricep dips, shoulder presses, crunches and press ups.

Twas very good indeed.

Hi there...had a friend to visit with her little girl last week, but still did most mornings my exercise Dvd's.
Did Nell's Maximum Impact this morning.
Someone was asking, on another thread, about Body combat, whihc made me look into it, and it seems to be pretty similar to Tae Bo, and there are classes in the local gym....so, will see about the timings and maybe I could join that class....would be nice

Laloop, how did you like Harvey's workout...?
Also, good luck wiht teh 10 K running training.

Speedy....must be nice to work out wiht your dh

Have eaten far far far to much the last week...and am feeling a right bloater.

speedymama · 10/08/2007 20:42

3anm, working out with DH is great because we motivate each other. We worked out again yesterday and it was great. We are both feeling really toned at the moment!

awwwwwwwwww

Lorns · 12/08/2007 19:35

Hi everyone. Been away and then going away again on tuesday until bank holiday weekend!

There was a gym in the hotel which of curse was one of the first things I explored when I got there! It was sooo very small - a closet really with only a bike, cross trainer and some weights. However, that was all I needed!!!

Supposed to be a gym where I'm going next so I'll have to see what that's like! .

3andnomore - I teach bodycombat and it's really great! Once you have learnt technique (which might be slightly different from Tae Bo) then you'll really kick ass!!

The format for the class is as follows:- After the upper and lower body warm up, there are 7 tracks which take you through a multitude of diciplines, boxing, karate, Mui Tai, capporera/ginga etc. etc. Some are designed to get the heart rate up (power training), whilst others are more combat (punches and kicks). You then do a conditioning track which can be abs, chest, triceps, legs and then a cool down/stretch.

There is no continous couting as in Tae Bo, but class participation is encouraged with lots of heys and Kai's!!!!

3andnomore · 13/08/2007 12:35

Lorns that really does sound fab....will call that gym where the classes are held to get more Info about price and when and whatever....so cool

Well, am really proud to sya that I did Nell's Ultimate challenge completely this morning, including the extra section...and I did all teh squats for the whole time, etc....the only thing I bailed out on was some of the push ups...I tried my hardest, but find it impossible to do them all, etc...but I can see improvement and am sure that one day I will be able to do even those all
It's, I think, the first time I did hold all the squats, etc....I never thought I would ever be able to do it
Oh, and it looks like Nell is bringing out a new DVD
here you can pre-order at Amazon

Can I peek in and say hello? I have just started exercising again after losing a lot of weight. I have been going to a step & tone class and yesterday went to a body pump class. I am LOVING doing the classes again. Thought I'd be really sore today but surprisingly am not. Hopefully will keep the 2 classes up and intend to add in a body ba;ance class on friday too. Hoping that 3 classes a week will help me on the way to being fitter, toned and a better shape.

3andnomore · 13/08/2007 13:07

sammac, welcome here and sounds like a good plan

sweetheart · 13/08/2007 16:20

Hello to all of you. Thought I'd pop in and say hi whilst I'm debating coming back to the thread. Not sure if you'll remember me as it's been a while.

When I was last on this thread I was at my thinnest for years! Unfortunatly temptation got the better of me and I've put on about 10Ibs which I'm quite gutted about.

Trouble is when I was on this thread my goal seemed unrealistic and I was really unhappy and quite obsessed with my diet and excercise. Since I came off I've been happier (although fatter!).

I'd really love to reach my ultimate goal but thats now 13Ibs away and I know it's a hard slog to get there. Very strict diet and a whole heap of excercise! Not sure I can do it as I've lost my motivation!

Gotta do something though so I thought I'd pop here and say hi!

laloop · 13/08/2007 18:46

Hi all and welcome to sammac

Sweetheart, it's great to hear from you again ! I can be a bit obsessive about jumping on and off the scales too. I think exercise as well as sensible eating really is the key but I've been sooooo inconsistent lately. Combination of not being able to do much exercise over the summer hols due to dc's being at home all day (in N.I. as the schools are off all of July and August!) and the bad weather putting me off getting outside more. As a result I feel out of shape and I lack the energy I normally have when I'm working out regularly. Keep posting, hopefully you'll find your motivation again soon.

I haven't done any exercise today. Will do a DVD in the morning if I can get the chance. Speedy and 3anm, well done on keeping up your great efforts. Lorns, enjoy your hols - hope the gym where you're going to this time has a bit more space and variety
