Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

I have been sorting out the dumping ground today, which included a bag of "can't breastfeed in it" dresses of mine. Have just tried on one I wore at my heaviest (to a friends hen do) and it was hanging off me. It's cotton so you can actually tell. Most of my old clothes were jersey so still fit quite well which is quite disheartening.

nicknamehelp · 13/05/2018 07:25

Honey well done x

honeysucklejasmine · 13/05/2018 09:00

ChestyNut · 13/05/2018 09:32

AnotherOtter · 13/05/2018 11:16

Loss this week: 1.6lbs
Total loss: 91lbs
To go: 10lbs

Really pleased with my loss this week. The C25K running has picked my weekly losses right up. I am still doing two 40 minute walks a day too. I completed week 4 and got the dreaded 20 minute run on Friday... will try my best. Thanks for the supportive words here about my binge urges. I didn't binge in the end and the feeling has lessened yesterday and today. Looking back at my diary, this point in my menstrual cycle is where all my binges happened which helps me realise that it will pass.

B1rd, hope the situation at your child's school got resolved and you are feeling better.

Hope the teething and dummy withdrawal settle down soon, Honey.

Nickname, staying the same is a major achievement after all your have gone through with your daughter recently.

Tractors, hope the new job improves soon.

Great news about your daughter, Post. It will be lovely to visit her in your old university city. Really well done on your 10k - that is amazing!

Welcome back, Fezzes.

Well done to everyone who has lost and to everyone who is KOKO regardless Thanks

honeysucklejasmine · 13/05/2018 14:20

Aaaah AnotherOtter, you're so close! Exciting!

Well done Chesty, it must feel great to have less than 50lbs to go!

Welcome back Fezzes love, I missed hearing about your exercises - you're great at siezing the moment to do a few squats etc. I'm too lazy.

Cultofpersonality · 13/05/2018 14:27

Another ahhh so close! So exciting!

NSV today, wore a top that has previously been quite tight and was able to breathe while wearing it! And it didn’t ride up as I was walking.
Going on holiday on Tuesday and all I can think of is not be able to get the belt done up so the top thing has been good for my brain today.

nicknamehelp · 13/05/2018 17:40

Good day today. Went to the gym again then out to lunch and I ordered a salad and had no pudding. Really feeling like now I'm starting to exercise lbs will start to come off.

MegJoBethAmyMarch · 13/05/2018 19:26

Thank you everyone for your lovely welcome. I'm not sure if you have a set day for reporting in. I have been using Fridays - so a couple of days late, here is mine:

Loss this week: 0.5 lbs
Total loss: 45.5 lbs
Left to lose: 58 lbs

That left me a bit meh, but undeterred nonetheless so I'm keeping on!

NamerChangerExtravaganza · 13/05/2018 19:30

I'd like to join please. I got on the scales after avoiding them for over three years and I'm 17 stone. I have been deluding myself about my weight increase. Onwards and downwards! I'm calorie counting and starting to walk every day for twenty minutes until I have the strength and fitness to do much else. Any support from fellow 'losers' would be welcome. I'm ashamed of my appearance. My weakness is emotional eating and using food as a reward eg 'Its Friday! End of the week! SO let's get a takeaway!' mindless eating, leftovers and thinking certain calories 'don't count'!! As I said denial. I'm 27 years old. I have to do this for my health.

nicknamehelp · 13/05/2018 20:23

Welcome namechanger. I am you an emotional eater who loves takeaways but with c.c you can have a healthy takeaway.

I must be feeling good as just been out for an hours stroll with dh

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/05/2018 20:24

Well done Meg! There's no set day for weighing - most of us do it at the weekend but there's no hard and fast rule, whatever suits you best.

Namer, welcome aboard. All sounds like a good plan, so just jump in and get started Smile. If you feel a bit self conscious out walking, then get some headphones in and listen to something good. I get stuck into podcasts and completely ignore everyone else around me (obviously watch out for traffic!).

Happy Monday everyone sun is shining here hope it is whete ever you are x

moonlight1705 · 14/05/2018 09:10

I've had a fab weekend and passed my green tag belt so am onto the next level. After 15 months of doing taekwondo, I can now do 10 sit ups in a row without dying plus we had a go at breaking boards which is great fun.

honey how is teething going today? Hope you've managed to get a bit of rest to enjoy clothes mountain. I love the thought that maybe one day people will admire my clothes and not that I don't look a complete pig in them.

Tractors Well done on KOKO even during work stress - that is amazing control.

Post and Another Wow - how good do you feel so close to target?

fezze - another great loss for you.

B1rd I am so impressed with anyone who gets out to do the running - good luck with it!

nickname Happy Monday to you too Smile its lovely here and I am at work shouldn't be on MN and I cannot wait to get home to be out in the garden.

Meg Half a pound is still a loss - I have to remind myself that I am not, at least, putting any weight on.... but this might kick start your resurgence back into regular losses.

Chesty Wahoo, 50lbs off is so amazing! That's like putting down a 5 year old child. Do you find exercise getting easier?

B1rdonawire · 14/05/2018 11:15

Some fab achievements there! Moonlight have made a mental note to mess with you!

1lb off for me today, and did the last run of W3. Start W4 on Weds.

Luckily the run and the sunshine put me in a good mood (this story might amuse/resonate with some of you): popped into GPs to book apt with nurse, confirmed it was for weight management. Receptionist gave me a hard stare and asked "Is it your first appointment?" No it bloody isn't, it's to show off 11 months of progress! Kept that in my head and smiled sweetly at her. Guess I still look like I have a way to go Grin

nicknamehelp · 14/05/2018 17:54

Achievement today was not eating any choc after a v stressful day at work despite having to go into shop and face temptationx

honeysucklejasmine · 14/05/2018 19:56

Cheeky sod, B1rd! How little she knows.

Moonlight teething... He's also bunged up, keeps grabbing his ear and has pale creamy gunk coming from his tear ducts. Not sure whether to get a GP appointment or not - DD and I are both prone to ear infections so feel I should get him checked. Another night of nurofen ahead I think.

Namer welcome aboard. Hopefully that's the last time you'll see that number.

Nickname well done on resisting the chocolate. Would it be ok for you to build in a small bar here and there, or are you better going cold turkey.

MegJo well done on your loss!

So, NSV today. Condemned a pair of trousers as just beyond redemption baggy. Nothing could be done, they had to go. The pair I am wearing now are also almost too baggy as well but were ok if I pulled them right up.

Think my birthday money might need to go on clothes...

ScaredPAD · 15/05/2018 14:13

Thankyou so much for all your support - I weighed today and a pound down.... but I wasn't wearing jeans (about a pound!?) So stayed the same. I overate at the weekend, even though it wasn't silly lots I was cravi ng carbs :(

Ate better today. Swimming tonight so will get there albeit slowly!!

honeysucklejasmine · 15/05/2018 15:47

Good news Scared. I would advise you take your starting weight again, in conditions you can replicate, if it's not been long. Otherwise you're always going to wonder and be guessing, like now.

Most of us weigh in the morning, naked, post toilet. 😉 Make sure you keep the scales in the same place roughly when you weigh, e.g. the bathroom, not bathroom one week, bedroom the next.

That aside, it sounds like you made good choices. You admit you overate a bit on the weekend, but you've made up for it in the week which is great!

ScaredPAD · 15/05/2018 17:12

I go into boots on a Tuesday as I don't want to have scales in the house. So usually after the same breakfast and at the same time, and until now in t he same clothes!! But now it's warmer I'll be in thinner clothes. I think as long as I keep on with the most unhealthy earing and the exercise for now I just wish it was faster! I can see this weekend I ate more than planned but it wasn't a full on binge as before.

AnotherOtter · 15/05/2018 17:46

Cult, fingers crossed about the seat belt. I know it is stressful when you have something like that hanging over you Thanks

Sounds like things are really picking up, Nickname.

MegJo, I've found the weight loss really variable over the months. Times when I thought I was doing well had pish losses and others when I was bending the rules had decent losses. There's a lot you can influence with your diet and exercise levels by it's not everything. I found it tough to realise that there were aspects of this outside my control no matter how hard I tried. Can you shake things up a bit? Do different types of exercise or try some new recipes? If you scroll back, Honey posted loads of meal ideas. Couch25K really perked up my weekly losses too.

Welcome NamerChanger. I am a big emotional eater too though have learnt some other options to deal with my feelings in the last couple of years. It's tough though and not a smooth road. Keep on keeping on and you'll get there.

Well done Moonlight on passing your exam. How are you finding the 5:2 this week?

Urghgh, B1rd, that receptionist was shite at her job and just plain rude! Good on you keeping your cool.

Honey, how's your wee boy doing?

Hotel Otter is open again this week but I have decided passive-aggressively to try out some new recipes on the family... chickpea pasta anyone? High in protein and fibre so should be good for staying full for me at least. But what will it taste like? Fuck it, there's always toast.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 15/05/2018 19:20

Evening all! Just a quick pop in to keep me on the right track - I'm shattered tonight and just can't be bothered with anything!

I have to go out tomorrow evening, and the last thing I want to do is socialise and make small talk with people I don't know Hmm. Thinking a bath (with Netflix) and an early night is probably the way to go...rock n roll Grin

OP posts:
honeysucklejasmine · 15/05/2018 19:59

Scared well in that case clothes are probably a good idea! 😂😂

AnotherOtter he's over the teeth for now - two have broken through. They are a bit wonky so not sure if they'll straighten up as they come through. To really stick the boot in, both he and DD have gunky eyes. Medication for her (eye ointment + toddler = difficult) and cotton wool and water for him. Yay. DD was proper sad today, she's gone to bed with calpol and lots of cuddles.

Tractors I hate that - it always sounds like a good idea at the time but when it's here, I often prefer to stay home under a duvet!

I'm having a mini flare of my autoimmune disease, my wrist hurts on one hand and my fingers on the other... Crochet aggravated injuries! 😳

nicknamehelp · 15/05/2018 20:38

Well tonight i had a health check at the gym. Was really positive and they gave me some good advice mainly about mixing up different types of protein and cutting down on carbs. Also measured me all over and took fat % which they will redo in 2 months so will be good to see difference.

I'm trying to help my emotional eating by listening to guided relaxation which really seems to be helping relax me and help me control the urges.

No tractors I'm with you I much prefer bath and pjs to socialising with people I don't know.

ScaredPAD · 15/05/2018 21:51

Honey - the image of getting naked in boots has made me giggle.

I don't feel too bad about the weigh in - I've swum lengths and been to aquaerobics and like this new pattern of exercise. Hopefully the weight will come off but the main thing is to keep on exercising and getting better eating patterns!
