Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Well done Nicknamehelp Sounds like a good weekend.

Moonandstars that’s the key, getting back to it. It is a bit of an eye opener about how crap it can make you feel.

Have heard a fair few people say MFP is over generous on the exercise front.

Moonandstars84 · 22/04/2018 22:19

Post you look amazing.

honeysucklejasmine · 23/04/2018 04:34

Wow post! Incredible figure!

B1rdonawire · 23/04/2018 07:45

Very inspiring Post you look great! My legs are looking quite good, but I still look like I have a pillow strapped round my middle Grin

2lbs off this week (so lost last week's gain, and another one). Very pleased with that as I did have cake with the neighbours when they were here - but a slice, instead of a whole cake, and I have Shock thrown away the leftovers after people took what they wanted! Total lost is now 53lbs I think. It's been so up and down the past few weeks months that I'm not sure any more! Three more pounds to my fourth stone anyway.

Have a good Monday everyone, hope it holds good things.

Moonandstars84 · 23/04/2018 11:28

're calories burnt I have just done a 4 and a it mile walk. My Fitness app/ watch says I burnt 227 calories whilst map my Walk says over 600. I expect the actual calories burnt to be somewhere in the middle.

nicknamehelp · 23/04/2018 17:18

Post looking good well done on the running.

I've had a good day managed to go to shop and not buy the chocolate aisle. Small victory for me.

Healthy tea in oven.

honeysucklejasmine · 23/04/2018 21:12

Do you know, I'm really feeling the energy boost of weight loss! Took DD to the park today, did loads of cleaning yesterday... It's getting easier and easier. Things which would have worn me out before aren't anywhere near as hard as before.

I'm having a bit of a flare with my autoimmune disease. In a way I feel vindicated - I'm thinner and it is still affecting me - but also it does suck a bit. Going to GP on Wednesday, need to sort my medications I think.

AnotherOtter · 24/04/2018 17:34

Post, you look great! You look very much the runner in your gear too. I haven't had anyone even attempt to give me the "don't lose too much spiel" that is so common as I still have a very prominent belly. Could easily pass for five months pregnant! I think because of my PCOS, I carry most of my weight on my abdomen. Or maybe it's just me naturally. My final weight goal is really just a guess of what will get my waist below 31.5".

Honey, yes mixed the links up Grin Great that you have more energy and activities require less effort. That has been the biggest change for me and I love it. I'm sorry to hear your lupus is flaring up though, that's no good. Good luck with the GP tomorrow. Do your medications have weight changes as side-effects? I know prednisone is notorious.

Well done Nickname on your pizza swap. Changes like that really add up.

Moonandstars, I can no longer handle ultra-processed food either without GI symptoms and feeling rubbish. I don't how I used to put up with it. Did we all used to just go around feeling terrible all the time?

It seems like it is really hard to estimate calories burnt by exercise. Can do it by time but then that doesn't measure effort. Can do it by distance for walking, running, etc, but then some people's bodies are more efficient than others and again, doesn't measure effort. Fitbits and other fitness trackers estimate by heart rate but then they aren't that great at measuring heart rate accurately and again, some people's bodies are more efficient than others. So really I think you've got to just do your best guess and adapt your guesses over time to your results (the scales and measuring tape). I think Notanurse did some experimenting with exercise calories that worked out well. I find not having accurate numbers unsettling but guess you've got to just work with what you have and try your best.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 25/04/2018 11:25

It occurred to me yesterday that I’m never hungry, not really hungry.

It was a bit of a shocking realisation to be honest, I eat so much and often that I don’t truly know how properly hungry feels like.

I’m now concentrating on the quantity of food and no evening binging because frankly I’m doing a sit job at it

moonlight1705 · 25/04/2018 12:00

That's interesting Lego - I was thinking just the same thing the other day. I don't binge because I am hungry, I binge because I cannot stop thinking about that particular thing and must have it or die.

I barely even have time to have a stomach grumble before the next meal.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 25/04/2018 12:38

moonlight it’s a strange feeling isn’t it!

I feel like I binge because I’m in a situation where you would eat even just as a little snack or treat (a mealtime, curled up in front of the telly, relaxing in the garden) but I just take it to an extreme and it’s got out of control.

Yesterday at lunch, I wasn’t hungry but it’s linchtime, so I ate (a silly amount) then felt like shit

I think I need to train my body to actually feel hungry occasionally

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 25/04/2018 19:12

Hi all - apologies for lack of posting, things have been a bit wild over the last week or so. On track for a lb or two loss this week, which I'd be delighted with. Will be back tomorrow, but hope you're all KOKOing

honeysucklejasmine · 26/04/2018 19:43

I am struggling this week. Judging by my breakdown earlier, I've got PMS again. And I want to eat everything! I've gone over my calories for the last 3 days.

Not sure how the scales are going to go this week. Confused

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 26/04/2018 19:47

Right, I'm back (hooray, I can hear you shout...) Trout (degutted Wink) baked with leeks and samphire tonight - was very tasty and felt most virtuous!

Post you look like a proper runner! Such a poster child for this thread Grin
B1rd that cake victory is such a big psychological step, well done. I've found I used to get almost anxious about throwing away leftovers, but didn't really give a second thought about throwing it down my throat Hmm. Amazing how your mind can compartmentalise 'waste' like that.

nickname and moonandstars well done on the general healthiness Smile

honey that sounds like the burst of energy I had - I've totally spring-cleaned and thrown out bags of stuff. It has needed doing for years Blush but the time and the inclination has never really been there. Hope you got some support yesterday from the GP.

Another thanks for the links, I do like reading things that other people have found.

Lego let me know how you get on - I don't really get hunger pangs ever. Even if I've done an inadvertent 24hr fast. I do get headachey, tired and grouchy though, so that's sort of my signal that it's time to eat, but I really need to work on resetting my body a bit more.

There's an obesity programme on BBC1 tonight, which I'm going to watch, and then it's an early night for me - power through tomorrow and then it's the weekend... Smile. KOKO y'all!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 26/04/2018 19:48

Totally cross posted with you honey - PMS sucks, you have my sympathies! Draw a line under the last few days and start afresh tomorrow.

honeysucklejasmine · 26/04/2018 20:43

Will do Tractors! Your dinner sounds lovely. A like trout a lot with courgette and rice, especially and lots of ketchup

I got a prescription for the right medication, I just need to find a pharmacy that stocks it now.

I also got a prescription for some steroids which I'd rather not have to take butbasva just in case measure. A bit "sledgehammer to crack a nut" plus all the side effects so I'd rather not.

Also got a dietitian referral for the baby, hooray!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 26/04/2018 20:55

Oh that's all good news honey, especially for the littlest honey! Dinner was indeed lovely, and there's enough for lunch tomorrow - I've grated some carrots, and mixed it with some sesame seeds, so it's going to be a sort of salad (I'm sneaking my way around the weird office 'no food' rule - as does everyone else it seems!)

OP posts:
honeysucklejasmine · 26/04/2018 21:18

Littlest Honey has been driving me mental all day. He did not play ball and nap in the car with Bigger Honey, so I had to entertain him quietly in the front whilst she slept in back. (I'm not moving her, I'm no fool.) He's also decided sitting is for chumps and wants to crawl (he can't yet, just falls on his face) or stand (he can't do that either...) so has been very demanding lately. Bigger Honey feels this is unfair so often climbs on my back whilst I'm leaning forward holding Littlest Honey.

I am touched. the. fuck. out. Currently in bed, alone. Bliss.

honeysucklejasmine · 26/04/2018 21:19

Tractors I have visions of you keeping your salad in a drawer and sticking your head in there every few minutes for another bite! 😂😂

ScaredPAD · 27/04/2018 04:37

Hello! I've just found this thread in weight loss and posting as I suspect it's too late to join but would love to read up for ideas and to be encouraged/inspired by you all.

I feel truly overwhelmed at how much I need to lose and feel like it just can't happen. I also worry about cooking and what to eat as it also feels overwhelming... (I suspect finding life in general overwhelming is part of the overeating!)
Well done everyone x

nicknamehelp · 27/04/2018 07:09

Morning all. I have gone totally off the rails. Found going back to work v tiring then my dd got admitted to hospital so I've eaten my body weight in sugar. I had also put 1/2 on due to a period - now been bleeding a week and hoping the mirena will settle down as hate not knowing what is happening to my body.

Going to get dd home then start again.

PostNotInHaste · 27/04/2018 07:19

Just quickly, Honeysuckle hope you got a decent amount of sleep.

Nicknamehelp so sorry to hear about your DD, hope she is recovering. This week really does not matter, blips will always happen and they only matter if you let them continue. Maybe eat at maintenance for a few days till things settle down?

ScaredPAD we’re all at different stages and you are very welcome. Everyone is doing different things but a lot of us are calorie counting using something like My Fitness Pal (free) or Nutracheck (£30 a year for the app). We’re focusing on getting the weight off in a sustainable way so we can maintain for life at the end of it and break the yo-yo thing once and for all. It will take a good couple of years plus for most of us to get to goal, potentially double that but the thing we’re finding incredibly important is KOKO, Keep on keeping on.

AF week for me, a pound on.

honeysucklejasmine · 27/04/2018 09:48

Hi ScaredPAD, welcome. You aren't too late at all. Post has summed us up very well. Just join in, don't worry how long it takes.

Post I did get a decent sleep but paid for it with rock solid painful boobs! Baby honey slept very soundly, I was willing him to wake up and feed tbh!

Still feeling shitty today. Need to look back at dates and see if I would've been on my period now.

honeysucklejasmine · 27/04/2018 09:51

Yep. It was 4 weeks ago I was feeling shit, hormonal and didn't lose weight. Marvellous.

BreakingSad · 27/04/2018 11:17

Morning ladies, still maintaining here, was going for a deficit this week, but felt very lethargic after AF. Still doing the C25K, just finished week 6 and Michael Jordan says I'm officially a runner now Shock never thought that would happen.

PostNot you look fab and very inspiring. Didn't realise either that it was running to 5km or 30 minuets, makes sense as speed and distance will come.

Hop on ScaredPAD we're a friendly bunch

nicknamehelp hope you Dd ok

Sorry quick post have to go KOKO everyone
