Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Or, we have modifications. Tonight we had pork kebabs. I used wraps as I couldn't find any non allergen containing pitta breads. I had one, with mountains of lettuce, tomato, cucumber etc. He had two smaller ones. I saved myself 172 calories not having the second wrap. Dessert - he had ice cream with DD. DS and I had dairy free yogurt. The KOKO one is only 79cals per 100g. I crumbled a flapjack square over it and it was perfectly decadent.

So... Modify, and get special things in just for you. And tell him to eat his crap elsewhere.

fezzesarecool · 19/04/2018 19:55

I agree with Honey

My oh eats the same as me, he’s wanting to get healthy too. He maybe had a slightly bigger portion than me but he’s happy to go with whatever meals I plan and he’ll make sure he checks the calories on anything he buys now if he has to go out my shopping list. He’s also happy to give my new recipes ago.

He does like to still have a takeaway (down from every other night to once a week) but he will wait until it’s a day where I’m at work and so would be able to allow it on my calorie intake.

We’ll have a different meal to each other if there’s something I want that he doesn’t and he will pick something that I don’t like so I don’t feel like I’m missing out/temped. In these instances it usually some kind of ready meal so I’m not really prepping and cooking separate meals it’s a throw in the oven easy night.

It would be so difficult for me to stick with it if he wasn’t on board.

honeyroar · 19/04/2018 20:12

Hello, please could I join you? I was on the no sugar thread but nobody posted much and I need some buddies! I lost one stone and 9lbs last year, fell off the wagon in winter and put the 9lbs back. I need to claw my way back onto the wagon again..

honeysucklejasmine · 19/04/2018 20:54

Hi honeyroar, welcome!

PostNotInHaste · 20/04/2018 06:38

Welcome Honeyroar

DH is vegetarian and cooks for himself as knew trying to do meals for myself and DS plus him would be too much. His support has made things much easier and I am very grateful.

Am doing weigh in today.

Loss this week 2.25lb
Total loss to date 100.25lb
To lose 9.75lb

Am obviously very happy Grin Am at original goal now but think the new one will be about right fir me as really do want to just squeak into healthy bmi range and will feel happier with another couple of inches off my stomach for health reasons. Shedding my coat with the sunny weather has brought a lot of comments.

fezzesarecool · 20/04/2018 07:27

Well done post and looking at you as motivation!

The last couple of years especially I’ve dreaded summer as when out of the house I sweat away in cropped trousers and cover up type tops. I was feeling a bit down this week as I had thought I would be feeling a bit more confident about being comfortable enough to wear a bit more summer apporiate clothing.

But no, it’s been super hot and I’ve been sweating away in cropped jeans and keeping my arms covered. But reading your post made me think that I’m still better off that when I started and I will sooner or later get to the point about being more body confident.

B1rdonawire · 20/04/2018 08:15

Congratulations Post that's amazing!!!!!!!

Welcome Honeyroar good to have you.

Off for a day outside as DD's class helper today...wish me luck Grin

honeysucklejasmine · 20/04/2018 08:24

Post! Congratulations! Hooray! What an amazing job you've done!!

fezzesarecool · 20/04/2018 10:50

Exercise has reached a new level of torture today, it’s hard enough in this heat.

But ds decided to spread all his lovely buttery toast around while I was doing floor exercises! I do badly wanted to stop and have a bite!

Nobeachbody · 20/04/2018 11:11

AnotherOtter thanks so much for the advice, yes, I think the mini wine bottles are a great way forward. Combined with 4 days off the vino a week should make a big difference.

Post What an amazing achievement, you must feel amazing! Bloody well done! How long has it taken you to lose so much weight, and what size were you at the start/now? You must be utterly transformed!

BreakingSad · 20/04/2018 14:45

Well done PostNot you're awesome

Welcome honeyroar

I'm still on maintenance this week, which has definitely helped me settle back in. I'll weigh in next weight as AF has arrived, but I know I've stayed within target so far. But I'm away this weekend, lots of walking, so hopefully should help counter the eating out.

Completed week 5 of C25K, think my head is finally coming around to the fact that I can do it. But I was finding it a bit of a struggle on the treadmill, but found out about videos on YouTube you can run with, so had a lovely run around Central Park NY this morningGrin

nicknamehelp · 20/04/2018 14:55

Welcome Honeyrosr

I'm not c.c. This weekend as at a friends just going to try not going ott and not snack

eatpuddingdrinkwine · 20/04/2018 18:23

Hi another newbie here. Have just had a shaming time at the swimming pool put my new costume on and it does not remotely fitBlush. Feel so ashamed of myself.
5.7 and 86kg sitting on the benches feeing sorry for myself but this thread seems very inspiring so hopefully the start of a weightliss journey for me.lost 5kg last year but all gone back on with friends.
So have posted here and rejoined mfp . A new me on the way! Perhaps i should name change !

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/04/2018 20:25

Post! You absolute superstar Star - you're such an inspiration!

Will post properly tomorrow but I'm reading everything! Work has not been great this week - nothing my fault, but starting to think it might not be the place for me. Ho hum. Next week is another week though, so I'm going to suck it up and go in with fresh resolve on Monday.

Having a white wine spritzer (mostly spritz, not much wine) and a handful of grapes to celebrate the weekend Smile. Will check in tomorrow for a weigh in.

Thank you all Smile NoBeach I started mid Nov 16 after seeing GP and finding I was to Big to be referred for gallbladder removal and in a whole world of pain so it was highly motivating. Used to wear elastic waisted trousers but think I was about a 22 bottom and 24/26 top. I do look very different, even I can see that now ! Have lost 13 inches from hips, 15 inches from waist, 12 inches from chest and 7 inches from thighs.

I’m not done yet but the change to my life is massive but that started a good few stone back. I just happen to be the first to reach 100lb and am looking forward to the rest of you joining me.

BreakingSad have a lovely weekend. I know I keep say8ng it but I think you’re spot on with what you’re doing with maintenance. Sympathies on the whole AF thing. Mine arrived yesterday somewhat dramatically so how I actually lost this week I have no idea but am hopeful it might show my hormone levels are now dipping. A huge well done on week 5 and what a great idea to have the YouTube videos. Glad your head coming round to the idea you can do it and know exactly what you mean . Heads up, some people find W6R1 a bit weird going back to intervals. You’ve done the worst bit now you’ve done the 20mins, apparently it’s couch to the first mile which is the hardest and that is certainly what I found. The other thing i didn’t know at the start is the program is to get you running 5k or for 30 mins mad very few people get to 5k in 30mins at the end.

Nickname good strategy and have a great weekend. It’s times like this that are the turning points. If you can have a good time and then get back to it rather you will do it, it’s the whole KOKO thing again.

Welcome Eatpudding Stop beating yourself up about previous attempts, you can’t change that but you can change what comes next. And you’re at the size where a couple of stone will make a big difference .

NoTractors really sorry to hear about work Flowers i’m Incredibly impressed at how well you have dealt with all the changes you’ve been through since the thread started. Are you finding that the whole KOKO attitude from the weight loss is helping when things get hard in other bits of life? I’ve definitely found that.

fezzesarecool · 21/04/2018 07:10

Weighing in today

Start 278

Last week 235
Week 9 Exercise Week 5 Calorie counting
This week 229

Week loss -6
Total loss -48

Goal 136
Left 93
Start 142

Surprised by this week’s result, I’m thinking the school run walks (up hill power walk with pram and up hill with dd sitting on the bottom of th pram, heavy,) and walking around while dd’s at her clubs gave me a little boost this week.

I’ve adjusted my goal as I’m thinking I may need to go a bit lower to have a allowance to go up when trying to work out what exercise and calories will work for me maintenance wise.

Anniversary today 😄

PostNotInHaste · 21/04/2018 07:40

Well done Fezzes and Happy Anniversary! Do you mind me asking how many calories you’ve eaten this week? Looking back I can see you said you’re generally at the 1600-1800 cal mark. I hope you don’t mind me mentioning this but I found when I started running that calorie range wasn’t enough to sustain me properly with the exercise.

It didn’t make a difference at first but after a bit my hair started falling out and my energy levels went through the floor. Did some reading and noticed on my fitness pal people talk about gross and net calories. Following that I realised that if I was eating 1600/ 1800 a day but burning off say a thousand then my net calories were 600 to 800 which made sense as to why I was so knackered as not enough to sustain that level of activity long term.

You’re doing really well and I hope i’m not speaking out of turn but thought it might be useful info to have in the back of your mind.

Moonandstars84 · 21/04/2018 08:00

Welcome to newbies and post you are amazing.
So my scores on the board
Sw 226
Current weight 205
Lost 3 pounds this week
Total loss week 8 I think 21 pounds
Target 119
86 pounds to go

Moonandstars84 · 21/04/2018 08:03

Sorry fezzes missed your post. Amazing loss again.

Moonandstars84 · 21/04/2018 08:04

And Happy Anniversary

fezzesarecool · 21/04/2018 09:07

Thanks everyone

Yeah my calories intake is between 1600 in most days now and 1800 on a ‘bad’ day. This is all from food as I only drink water, probably the only healthy habit I’ve ever had. Although I didn’t drink enough before I now have between 2 to 3 litres. I do wondering if this is what’s helping me as I do have a long term kidney problem which improved in pregnancy as I forced myself to drink more. Now I find it easier to drink more as I need it as part of exercising.

You’re not speaking out of turn at all and tbh I’ve started to dread posting my weigh ins the last couple of weeks as I know people are going to start questioning what I’m doing and tbh I don’t why this is working at this rate for me but it is. It’s great though for you give me information to be aware of, thank you. My calorie burn is 700 on a workout day, which I push to eat more and 300 on a just walk with me Day. I don’t count any normal activity. I will start looking at my net calories.

Exercise wise, I’m now doing workouts 3 to 4 times a week and doing the walk with me for 3 miles 5 times a week and 2 miles 2 day’s a week. I’m doing weights and I do feel like I’m starting to build muscle and making sure my Marcos are within limits. I do also make sure I eat something light before exercising and something heavy afterwards.

My current plan it that as my calorie burn is decreasing with my weight, is to work on the strengthening side more and up my calorie intake slightly in the hope that the muscle I’m building do their job, and also I’m still at a very poor fitness level.

I used to get a bus home 2 stops from the school run. I now walk up hill power walking and although I don’t have to stop now, when at first I had to stop at least 4 times in a slow walk, I’m still breathless when I get to the top of my road,

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 21/04/2018 09:13

Well done you losers! I'm 1lb down this week, which is about right, wasn't really expecting anything this week. Interesting about KOKO Post, I do find with everything going on at least this is something I know works, and can keep going. A lot has changed in the last 10 months or so, so I suppose it's natural for there to be a wobble at this point.

Lost this week: 1 lb
To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 48 lbs
Left to lose: 76 lbs

Very well done, Post! Congratulations Star You've been a trailblazer for us Smile How are folk treating you now? You said you are getting a lot of comments in your summer clothes. How do you respond?

B1, did you get your third run? Well done on completing week 5, Breaking. I have completed week 1 and am so chuffed with myself as I really didn't think I would ever manage it. However, I am expecting the weight to be falling off me and that does not seem to be happening... Got to remember that I am doing this for fitness and mood not numbers on a scale!

Welcome Honeyroar and Eatpudding.

Sorry to hear that work's not been too hot, Tractors. That's very disappointing after all your efforts to get this new job. Is there potential that things might improve? It's really hard when things are tough at work Thanks

Well done to the folk who have lost this week and to those who are KOKO regardless.

honeysucklejasmine · 21/04/2018 09:54

Well done all!

I'm almost at the end of my "it's a target, not a limit" week. I'm still on track to lose the usual amount (2lbs) and I feel much better for it. Before I was only eating net 1300 a day. Based on my size, that's bugger all and I was miserable that I was only losing 2lbs a week and feeling deprived. I'm now eating net 1500 a day, my actual target, and feeling much better. I think 2lbs a week is a decent weight loss, and I'm happy eating 1500 net - I don't feel hard done by.

I'm back in the NSV trousers that I accidentally shrank, so that's once again my nsv!

moonlight1705 · 21/04/2018 10:13

Grrrr I've put on 2lb this week. I think I know why but it doesn't make it any easier to look at. Sad

At the moment it feels like I'm just hovering around 130kg with a bit off and a bit on....no real progress.

I did C25K a couple of years ago, I hated every minute of it and didn't lose a pound but I was fitter! Well done if you find it motivating and helpful, keep going!!

Well done Post on your amazing loss!

Notractors must be frustrating with the job, you work so hard and it doesn't feel like a reward.

fezze can I borrow you to be my personal trainer/cook....you are doing so well Smile

Welcome to all the newbies, its such a nice group even.though I'm still doing rubbish which really helps.
