Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Subway Turkey and ham salad should be fine. You can pick your own dressing and salad.

nicknamehelp · 17/04/2018 17:53

Nobeachbody - have perhaps thought of buying the small wine bottles? That way can still have wine without the need to finish a whole big bottle. I buy them as 1 glass enough for me as I really can't tolerate alcohol (wish I could)

I have felt very tired today but I planned days food and c.c. everything. Planning on going for a walk in a bit.

B1rdonawire · 17/04/2018 18:53

AnotherOtter we can be staggering running buddies! I think it may take me longer than the intended amount of weeks but I really want to see this through. I have any amount of excuses but hopefully I can past those, and the other posters who advised me that this is a mind battle were spot on, and that's really helped me to remember. Yesterday was a good day, today is on track so far (despite a three hour traffic jam, and then a hose flying off the garden tap and drenching me!)

PostNotInHaste · 17/04/2018 19:27

It doesn’t matter how many weeks it takes. Was talking to someone who was several mins faster than me on Saturday and looks like she has run all her life and she was saying it took her about 3 months.

Was out doing the first C25K session with friend and her daughters and noticed that although I had said about going slowly their immediate reaction when we started was to go at it too fast, I spent a lot of time saying slow down. Think your brain thinks running, must move fast. Friend is very thin and does loads of yoga and walking and said she found it hard. However she didn’t look at the near throwing up stage and didn’t look bright red with sweat pouring off her so clearly found it much easier than I did at the beginning Grin

B1rdonawire · 18/04/2018 11:03

Ha, "not throwing up" is my new definition of success! I did run 2 this morning, and it was slightly easier - might have been because it was a lot less muddy, but still, I'd go as far as saying I enjoyed parts of it today. Amazing what a bit of sunshine can do! Fitting in a third run this week will be hard due to childcare but I will work something out.

How is everyone's week going? I hope work is going better Tractors?
Wave to new people (I feel quite new here myself).

Oddsocks I am using SW and it's been about 9 months, I am 4 stone down with a way to go. It suits me because once used to it, there's not a lot of measuring and it fits well with the foods I wanted to be able to continue to eat long term (basically pasta!) I guess any "system" works if you stick to it, but it was the long term sticking to it that I based my choice on Smile

nicknamehelp · 18/04/2018 12:50

Yesterday didn't end well but I c.c. all. Today a bit of a struggle as at outpatient app with my dd and trying to eat healthy in a hospital is not easy 🤔 but I've planned a low c.c tea and so hopefully will be ok.

fezzesarecool · 18/04/2018 14:37

Shit, completely ripped and size 22 jeans and now have to get a new pair 😞

Do I order 22 and not get enough wear out of them (bearing in mind I don’t have a lot of money) or order a size 20 and they’ll probably be tight?

For reference those are Yours jeans so probably would be a ‘normal’ 20 This pair was starting to be lose

fezzesarecool · 18/04/2018 15:20

Sorry I meant a ‘normal’ 24

nicknamehelp · 18/04/2018 15:58

I would try a 20 as will last longer and tightness may act as an incentive.

I managed to be good at hospital 😁 having a rest now as it's warn me out I'm obviously still recovering.

fezzesarecool · 18/04/2018 16:21

So annoying! I may have a dig through the wardrobe and see if there’s sizes to try I wanted my jeans to last for work and my work trousers and getting really baggy

Glad you managed to be good at the hospital, I try to go for a chicken/ham sandwich when I visit as the calories aren’t too bad but it all depends on what there is on offer Although getting better at packing myself a snack/lunch I’d Im going to be out

Some people Balance their calories/save them up through the week? Not sure if that’s any good for you I don’t but only cos it confuses me 🤣 Although if I have a day when I’m over I do think at least I’ve been at target on the other days so try not to stress about it

I think it’s better to be in the habitat of counting and then it’ll be easier as the weeks go on So now I have some go meals around 600 calories if I don’t have time to plan out My favourite swap has been pizza to pizza baguette, half the calories, filling and cheating without being too out of control 😄

Nobeachbody · 18/04/2018 16:32

fezzes I would go for size 20 as long as they are not so tight that you can't wear them!!
Havibg said that I'm
Guilty of always buying clothes then just that but too tight and never being able to wear them. Tho I did improvise last week, a pair of trousers that were just a bit too tight round the middle so I used an elastic band to hook around the button and then tie thro the button hole! Worked a treat and meant I could wear my lovely new trousers! Tho I hope that soon I will be able to wear them without resorting to elastic bands!!

nickname great idea re the smaller 250 ml wine bottles I had a look in m and they have a good selection and reasonably priced too. Will definitely be stocking up tho best if I just buy one at a time!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 18/04/2018 17:02

I really like Matalan papaya curve for jeggings if that’s any good, they’re £14 and true to size.

I personally would get the next size down if they were getting big to begin with

nicknamehelp · 18/04/2018 17:23

This will make u laugh!

Had the idea of some guided relaxation perhaps helping me over come the comfort waiting. While looking on Spotify I find meditation for weight loss - perfect I thought. So I settled down for a bit of me time for Ad at start to be for Ben and Jerry Ice Cream 🤣

Moonandstars84 · 18/04/2018 19:30

That funny fezz I did the same. Didn't realise I had two whacking great tips near the bottom until I spectacularly tripped across the room when I got my foot stuck. I would go for the size 20.

Moonandstars84 · 18/04/2018 19:32

I am refusing to replace them although did buy some size 18 trousers which I just managed to squeeze into.
Much if my excess weight is in the legs.

fezzesarecool · 19/04/2018 08:11

Thanks for the jeans advice everyone

I managed to find two 26’s last night, one was fine but probably a lot of pulling them up as I walk and the second jegging types were skin tight So very confused about sizing

The panic this morning as it’s a day full of school and morning club for the baby and then dance club for dd so didn’t want to be pulling the jeans up and didn’t want tight ones on a hot day

Found my cropped jeans and there was a size 26 and size 20. I was brave and tried the size 20.

It is on and very comfortable around the waist and baggy on my legs! I’m now strutting around the house like I’m a super model 🤣

I haven’t worn this pair since 2009!

Although I’m does call into question sizing as all the jeans were from Yours but I’m enjoying my skinny bitch moment (plus why have I even got all these different sizes?!)

I think I will def go to Matlan as suggested as it would be good to know my actual size

Hope everyone has a fantastic day

honeysucklejasmine · 19/04/2018 08:51

Same, moon. My legs are definitely where I store the most fat! Soooo pear shaped post baby.

I took some photos the other day. Really should have taken some "before" ones but I didn't, so will have to make do with the various unflattering photos of me taken by other people.

Struggling a bit food wise with baby DS. I made some gluten free flapjacks yesterday (100 cals each) and he had one for breakfast. An old school friend has suggested FPIES to me, which is a type of food intolerance. I think it sounds about right, but it's hard because if I present to a doctor about it, he's not symptomatic any more, because we've already eliminated all allergens (to the best of my knowledge). So the classic diagnositic signs of vomiting, explosive nappies etc he doesn't have, because he's not eating the allergen. So yeah, finding something he can eat, that doesn't involve dairy, egg, soya or wheat/gluten... Argh. Going to make some gluten free bread this afternoon I think. Try him on that. I have half a suspicion he can't handle oats either so will see how the flapjacks go.

I love Matalan. I'm wearing a Matalan outfit right now as it happens. They do fab long line tank tops which I love for £4 each. And their "perfect tee" range really are great. Just bought two in lovely bright patterns.

Yesterday I caught my trousers on a sharp bit of a chair so now I need new ones too. No idea what size so will need to go in store to try on. Not easy with two small people! I bought the tops in an 18 and they fit perfectly. But massive thighs so not sure on trousers. My stretchy hareem style ones from there are a baggy 20, but my patterned cotton trousers from there are also a 20 and v tight...

honeysucklejasmine · 19/04/2018 08:53

(I have to make my own gluten free bread as most shop ones contain either soya or egg - I am not an enthusiastic baker.)

moonlight1705 · 19/04/2018 09:36

God, I hate the jeans size thing however I have recently been converted to Evans pear-shaped jeans/trousers. They are amazing as I can get into a size 20 instead of a 22 in these due to the fact they actually go around the hips and in at the waist!!

My taekwondo outfit is beginning to feel a little looser now so even though I haven't lost many pounds then I am obviously losing inches....will measure again soon.

nicknamehelp · 19/04/2018 09:40

Fezz enjoy your skinny bitch moment.

I'm currently cleaning like a maniac as house only been given a spit and a promise for a month by cleaner as I wasn't up to it. I keep thinking of all the cals I'm burning! Hoping from next week to get more active again go back to work Mon so that will help. Going to keep m.f.p on inactive though and see how I go - I do not at a desk a lot but I also run round the office too if things are going peas shape.

This good weather is also v motivating I find.

Have a good day all x

fezzesarecool · 19/04/2018 10:51

Went out a skinny bitch, came home a fat cow that was out of breathe during my baby’s movement class and got the bus 2 bloody stops Home as I was very lazy

Oh well it helps keeps things in perspective. For many year while I was big I convinced myself I was fine, even healthy despite my size and I don’t want to fall into that trap again.

The Evans pear shape sounds like it would be good for me too, once I go proper clothes shopping. I’d like clothes that would fit me well shape wise rather than just size wise.

AnotherOtter · 19/04/2018 12:39

Nobeach Thanks** Regulating alcohol consumption is hard, loads of people struggle with it. I wonder if your original plan of four alcohol free days a week combined with the mini wine bottles would be a sensible starting point? There are good threads on here about cutting down that folk seem to find supportive and helpful. You said that you love the feeling of fuzziness around the edges that you get from wine and that really resonated with me as I loved that too. But that's what I thought was dangerous in that I would become reliant on that warm, soothing feeling. A close relative of mine died from alcoholism too so we've both seen what a terrible road that is. My feeling is that getting a handle on drinking is better done earlier while it is still manageable. Good luck with it all Thanks (2 for 1)

Thanks for the advice, Breaking. Me and Beyoncé will enjoy our runs together.

B1, you are having a run of bad luck with stuff going wrong! Fingers crossed for childcare so you can get the third run.

With the trouser buying, I would get the larger size with an elasticated waist so they last for more weight loss. I can't abide wearing tight clothes. I am very much an apple shape with relatively smaller arse and thighs though. Much healthier to carry your weight there than piled on your abdomen like me. Sizes are not remotely consistent between brands anymore so I think the best you can do is say I am a size X in shop A, size Y in shop B, etc. Sometimes they're not even fucking consistent within the same brand.

How's it going with the new job, Tractors?

AnotherOtter · 19/04/2018 12:40

I think that qualifies as a bold fail.

nicknamehelp · 19/04/2018 19:06

Do your families support you? Tonight I cooked what was a really healthy tea (nothing drastic) dh didn't want much 10 mins later he's darting ice cream. Both dc tried to negotiate leaving parts of it. I refuse to cook separate meals they all had told me I need to loose weight but don't seem all that willing to support me.

honeysucklejasmine · 19/04/2018 19:08

That's not ok. My DH was dieting himself when I started, although he only wanted to lose a stone so not any more. I still cook low cal dinners. The agreement is if he wants to eat shit, do so at work where I can't see it. Works well.
