Four stone down in 2018

Whowhatwhy · 02/01/2018 19:31

After two children and with mid 40s approaching I really need to sort my weight out. I'm on a 4 stone mission for 2018- this time next year I want to be 4 stone lighter. Anyone want to join me on this mission? You're support would be great and we can share our sorrow at the lack of chocolatey goods together

I would like to join in too please!! I am appalled with myself - I used to run & have 3 half marathons under my belt. If I attempted one now I'd probably cause a small earthquake!! I've just got out of that good habit and into bad ones.

I know what to do, it's just the doing it that hurts!! I plan to cut out snacks & polishing off the kids' leftovers. That's my downfall - I get home and I'm hungry, but it feels too early for dinner so I then end up snacking AND eating late anyway. Silly habits.

Going to drink loads more water and exercise at least x3 per week. I'm 13st 10 this morning Shock. I'd like to have shifted a stone by Dhs birthday in March which I think is definitely doable. Then another by my birthday in summer. Slow and steady.

Onwards and upwards (or downwards rather!!)

BeyondWW · 09/01/2018 08:21

Down 6.6lbs total so far. Sounds a lot, but I have quite a bit to lose.
Two stone from here gets me to BMI under 30 :)

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 09/01/2018 11:57

I have lost 5lbs

BUT AS IM HARDLY BLOODY EATING ITS NOT A BIG SURPRISE

But i am not going to weigh over the next few days as i am giving blood today and i know that makes an initial difference to weight

OhHelp0hNo · 09/01/2018 12:26

Totally forgot I'd joined this thread until I saw it in my watched list!
I see some others are doing weightwatchers, how are you all finding it? I lost 50lb with WW about 5 years ago, since then I've got married and had 2 children and it's all gone back on (and more Sad) so I've joined up again. I'm going to meetings because I definitely don't have the will power to do it alone! I joined 2 weeks before Christmas and weighed in at 16.12. Lost 6.5lb then gained 4.5lb over Christmas!! So my first post-Christmas weigh in was 16.10.
I'm going to be 30 later this year, I'd love to be at least 3 stone down by then but it feels like such a humongous task Sad

IamNotDarling · 09/01/2018 22:11

I’m finding it ok but I’m only on week 2. I’m being very organised and prepping food a lot.

9 out of 50 lbs down now. Feeling hungry though!

mayathebee · 09/01/2018 23:43

Can I join too. I have 4 stone to lose and would love to get most of it off before my 40th which gives me just over a year. I am going to try to follow slimming world at home and I've just joined a beginners running club but I'm struggling to get motivated. I'm a new teacher, always tired and struggling to keep up with work never mind meal planning. I need to move my health up my priority list!

glenthebattleostrich · 10/01/2018 07:11

Hello. AF is visiting this week so I'm bloated and feel awful, which is further motivation to get off my arse and deal with my diet as my PMT and period pains are so much better when I eat properly.

Did a 20 minutes exercise video yesterday, hit 12000 steps a day this week and I've done 2 800 kcal days this week. Kept under 1300 kcals the other days too so hopefully Friday scales will ever good. Also not had any alcohol for almost a week as I know when I have a glass of wine or a g&t I start nibbling.

Off to make my lovely healthy breakfast smoothie now :)

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 10/01/2018 08:23

Well done to everyone joining and working hard

I lost about 2 stone innnnnnn think it was january to june 2014, even though ive gained a bit here and there ive not been able to do it again

But i think part of the reason was that i joined one of these threads then and havent done it since

I honestly think that it was partly being in the right state of mind (i was a smidge lighter than now but was the heaviest ive ever been and til i was 29 i weighed 9 stone...i was just over 13 stone 14 years later) and being on the thread and updating regularly

mrsBeverleyGoldberg · 10/01/2018 10:36

I need to lose 4 stone too!

Maverick66 · 10/01/2018 10:46

It can be done.
1lb per week is 52 lb a year (3stones10lbs).
Up your protein, lower your carbs, throw in a few walks a week, and you're there.
I did it 2016/17
Good Luck .

SanFranBear · 11/01/2018 08:07

Weigh in day and 1.4kg (3 lbs) gone.. yay!

Hope everyone else feels like they're having a successful week Smile

IamNotDarling · 11/01/2018 22:03

Well done SanFran!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 11/01/2018 22:15

Congrats sanfran

OhHelp0hNo · 13/01/2018 23:54

Well done SanFran!
My weigh in day was Thursday too, 3lb off this week which is a total of 5lb off and new weight 16.7.
How's everyone doing?

SanFranBear · 16/01/2018 18:02

Congrats OhHelp - that's really good for just over two weeks in!

I'm not cheating this week but I'm also not feeling like it will be a good result Thursday but we shall see. I looked back at when I managed the big loss a couple of years ago and some weeks it was only 0.1kg (about 0.2 of a pound!) down, but it was down so that's all that matters.

Hope everyone else is doing ok - I loved the earlier post about thinking just 1lb a week and that'll be 52lbs over the year!

OhHelp0hNo · 16/01/2018 19:25

A loss is a loss, we used to say in my old WW group!
I'm saving all my weeklies and rolling over 4 points every day for a girls night on Thursday, we're having a curry, birthday cake, probably a few Wine. My weigh in is before the indulging though so I'm thinking maybe I'll have a really good result this week and then not so good next week? We'll see...

ladylambkin · 16/01/2018 19:32

I've lost 3 stones since January last year and my plan is to lose an additional 2 stones this year. I have managed to maintain my weight loss so I know the healthy eating principles are embedded now.

Good luck to you all

SanFranBear · 18/01/2018 14:57

So despite my misgivings, I've had a really successful week and lots 1.9kg (4lbs)! No idea how but I'm not knocking it!

Hope everyone else is getting there slowly but surely - do let me know. I mean, I don't mind using this as my own weight loss diary but it's nice to encourage and celebrate each other achievements Smile

theluckiest · 18/01/2018 21:47

Bugger bugger bugger...Sad

I was so positive 10 days ago.

I have lost..well, nothing. In fact, I've put on. Was 13 st 10 10 days ago, this morning I was 13 st 12!!! How?!!! I have absolutely no idea. Been using MFP and bring completely honest with it. Calculating portions, cutting out unnecessary snacks (my downfall), not drinking during the week. Being sensible at weekends & having 2 or 3 G&slimline Ts but that's it.

The only thing I haven't been doing which I know I am shit at is drinking lots of water. But this couldn't cause a 2lb gain, surely?

I have even started running again.
I am genuinely baffled.

Here's what I'm generally eating daily:

Breakfast - 1 slice toast with half an avocado

Lunch - soup & yoghurt (under 100 cals)

Dinner - generally a homemade chilli or chicken & veg. Stuff cooked from scratch.

Occasional 2 squares dark choc or small handful seeds as a snack.

I do drink maybe 3 teas (no sugar) daily.

MFP reckons this is generally around 1300 cals. At 5ft 5, this should see me losing something surely?!

Am I doing something silly that I haven't spotted? Feeling really shit.

Enuffsenuffsenuff · 18/01/2018 21:54

I'm in!

I'm going to eat way less carbs and much more veg and lean protein. And I'm going to do couch to 5K and track my calories on my fitness pal. I'm hoping for 8lb loss per month, does that seem feasible?

OhHelp0hNo · 19/01/2018 15:13

Weigh in yesterday and I've lost another 3lb making my total weight loss 8lb and current weight 16st 4lb.

How's everyone's week going? Smile

SanFranBear · 19/01/2018 23:32

theluckiest - that makes no sense to me.. you should at least be maintaining but I'm surprised you've not lost anything, I really am.

Has it just been 10 days? Not that it should make a difference but we all weigh different at different times of the month which might explain your small gain? Either that or your scales are squiffy? Are you using digital ones?

Great result OhHelp!

thisusernamedoesntfi · 20/01/2018 11:46

Have read the thread and have joined. I need to lose 4 stone.
I need to cut out snacks, wine and second helpings.

theluckiest · 20/01/2018 14:13

Well I weighed this morning and yep, I'm back to 13st 10 so I suspect it was a bit of bloating!! I've lost track of when AF is due so it could well be that.

Hopefully will post next week with a loss! I'm in a good mindset and determined so we'll see. I've even signed up for a 10k so there's no excuse!!

SanFranBear · 21/01/2018 11:44

Good luck theluckiest - it's going to be a good week!

I had a blow out yesterday as just me & DS home so got lots of nibbley type food in and watched The Force Awakens.. it was sooo good after the last few weeks of moderation Grin
