Four stone down in 2018

Whowhatwhy · 02/01/2018 19:31

After two children and with mid 40s approaching I really need to sort my weight out. I'm on a 4 stone mission for 2018- this time next year I want to be 4 stone lighter. Anyone want to join me on this mission? You're support would be great and we can share our sorrow at the lack of chocolatey goods together

Can I also join? I have 4-5 stone to loose to get to a bmi of 25. About 3 of that all gained in last 2 years. I feel massive unhealthy and unfit. Thinking about joining a slimming club or considering going it alone but worried I’ll cave in to big portions and rubbish if alone. Really need to exercise too. Probably walking when weather allows and maybe dvds at home. I’ve never lost weight (other than the odd 7/10lbs here and there) but have been gaining nicer few years and now it feels almost impossible. Determined to do it though!

WFPB · 03/01/2018 10:46

Hello!
I am also mid forties, heaviest ever and looking to lose 4 st in 2018 (and a secondary school teacher!) - would love to join you all for our journey down.
Just transitioned on to a whole foods plant based diet (watching forks over knives, food choices etc on Netflix and reading some books convinced me) and have just started the three month online forks over knives cookery course...I'm very much hoping this is the complete lifestyle change to end all diets (and there have been a lot - chronic yo-you dieter).

Msqueen33 · 03/01/2018 15:54

My stomach is like a huge bowling ball. It’s probably worse than my pregnancy belly as at least I got something from that. Here’s to shifting 4/5 stone by July and feeling good.

mousetrap123 · 06/01/2018 00:43

I'm in too, I have 4 stone to go. I feel so unhealthy and tired all the time. Could do with some support. I just joined mumsnet so don't really know what I'm doing but I'll figure out how to follow this thread.

blackdoggotmytongue · 06/01/2018 00:47

Mid 40s, Three to Three and a half stone to lose (I am expecting to be comfortable at Three, but the charts tell me nearly four - given that I haven’t been that weight for over thirty years, i’m Sceptical...)
I’ve signed up for beachbody (because of the online workouts, even though I despise both the title and the ethos of the bloody thing) but I won’t be resorting to shakes...

mousetrap123 · 06/01/2018 00:52

@Blackdoggotmytounge no i wont be doing shakes. I'm going to do slimming world at home, can't stand the groups, I have the books and weighed myself tonight so I'm good to start in the morning. I weight 16stone 6 at the moment and want to get to 12stone. I'm 40 and 5f8. I will post on here what I loose every Friday.....or gain😔😔.

Super123 · 06/01/2018 00:55

I think I have 4 stone to lose.

Nothing fits me and I feel exhausted and can't bend down easily.

Crisps are my downfall!

Ellieboolou27 · 06/01/2018 06:50

Morning all
I've decided that Friday is my official weigh day, yesterday I weighed in at 13.7 Blush at only 5ft 4" I'm officially obese!
Aiming for 7lb a month off, that way by summer I should be back in size 12's again.

Using my fitness pal and set it to 1500 calories a day, will reduce as my weight does.

My downfall is once the kids are in bed, I am like a nighttime binger, feeling positive I can do it this time.

How is everyone doing?

BoredOnMatLeave · 06/01/2018 06:55

I'm in. Lost 2 stone before Christmas and have 4.5 left to lose.

Have found it hard this week to get back into after the Christmas soon, hoping that next week I will get tough!

Ellieboolou27 · 06/01/2018 07:00

bored 2st loss is fantastic! I've found it hard to get into it too, still have huge amounts of chocolate and Christmas biscuits left, I will be spending the weekend trying to palm them off to visitors Grin

Ideally I'd like to get to 10st but by breaking it down to lose 7lb per month It feels less daunting.

BoredOnMatLeave · 06/01/2018 07:05

That's a good target ellie

I lost quite quickly that 2 stone came off in 3 months but it left me feeling bit saggy so I am to lose 2 lb per week now, should not 10st (target) by the end of the year.

I forgot to say OP, I do clubbercise and love it, it's really fun and you don't have to worry about what you look like. Hopefully mine restarts this week or next as she didn't do it in December

Ellieboolou27 · 06/01/2018 07:18

How are you losing bored I'd love to lose 2st in 3 months Smile

I'm flabby too, going to do 15 mins YouTube sessions per day as my girls are still small so hard to find childcare to get to classes

BoredOnMatLeave · 06/01/2018 08:03

ellie basically low carb high fat. I don't eat any carbs 2 days a week, 2 days a week I eat carbs with every meal but it's things like brown rice, sweet potato and the other 3 days I only eat carbs at breakfast. Then I just exercise for 15 mins a day at home (also have 18mo DD so it's not easy). I try to walk as much as I can. I took up clubbercise as I was getting jealous of DP having a hobby and me being stuck at home all the time to be honest so it's more of a way of getting out the house!

It's very cute though now DD joins in with my exercise and does squats and jumping around whilst I do mine

cheshiremama89 · 06/01/2018 08:10

I'm in!
Or at least I will be once baby arrives!

Really piled on the weight since being pregnant, currently 12 st and would like to get back to 8.

With over 2 weeks to go, I'm thinking I could put on even more.

But will be on the bandwagon once DS arrives x

IToughtISawAPuddyCat · 06/01/2018 09:47

Oooo me too! I've put on 4 stone since DS was born 3 years ago..
Christmas was a car crash food wise.
Sad

Whowhatwhy · 06/01/2018 12:21

I'm struggling to get started this week as we have two family birthdays (cake!!).

Whowhatwhy · 06/01/2018 12:22

Bored can you tell me more about Clubbercise? I am going to start this next week (first class on Wednesday) but I'm over 40, unfit and with a dicky knee. Will I cope? I'm hoping to hide in the darkness a bit until I get fitter!

I definitely need to join this. Pregnant at the mo with baby number two due start of feb but my weight was creeping up before getting pregnant. To be honest I need to loose at least four stone to get to a reasonable bmi. Will watch to see what's working to get inspiration for a kick off at end of feb/start of March.

blackdoggotmytongue · 06/01/2018 15:58

We’ve had birthdays since Christmas, too, who. Smile And we still have house guests for another two weeks so are laying on the wine with dinner/ offering desserts thing, which we never do otherwise.
My kids are older, but that leads to a whole host of other issues - I work full time and they have extra-curriculars most evenings, so I don’t have any set time that I can sign up to a class. Once the house guests are gone I need to actually try and schedule everything or I’m going to spend another year at this weight...

MrsSlocombesPussy · 06/01/2018 16:05

I weighed in on Friday at 14st 10lbs, which at 5ft 4 gives me a bmi of 35. I think I'll aim to be overweight first, rather than obese!
We still have a mountain of Christmas treats left in the house, and it's DD's birthday on Monday, so the next couple of weeks are going to be a challenge!

Overthehillsandfaraway8 · 06/01/2018 16:08

I'm in. I need to lose the same amount, and am planning to do it by the end of July. I have never managed to lose weight in the past with slimming clubs, but am going to give SW a go. In the past i have lost weight on low carb or calorie counting myself, but i have never lost this much weight before. I am the heaviest I have ever been.

BehindLockNumberNine · 06/01/2018 16:12

Can I join please?

I have yoyo dieted all my adult life.
I lost just over 3 stone in 2016. I put 3 stone back on in 2017.
I need to lose 4 stone, really I do.

WORKWORKWORKWORKWORKWORK · 06/01/2018 16:16

Think I need to join this! I’ve lost 1 stone 6 since October & need to lose another 5!
I’m currently on high doses of steroids atm and find it super tricky to lose weight!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 06/01/2018 16:58

I would like to join please

I started a VLCD yesterday as i had some sucess a few years ago

The plan is for it to kick start a better long term way of eating

So it will be 8 days, day off next Saturday (calorie counted day off Grin) then 6 days the following week etc

By mid February i will be down to VLCD for two days a week and calorie counting the rest

Plenty of time to plan that as im just on bars at the moment Grin

Did ok yesterday (though i did have two 40 cal drinks and two packs of crisps Blush)

Ok today but i am out to a party tonight so that will be a real test

Good luck everyone

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 06/01/2018 17:08

Oh shoot

I am weighing myself in lbs so im not too depressed

Weighed friday at 191lbs and this morning (dont intend doing this every day,,,its just dh was getting weighed) i was 188, which just shows how much rubbish i have been eating over the last few weeks
