Four stone down in 2018

After two children and with mid 40s approaching I really need to sort my weight out. I'm on a 4 stone mission for 2018- this time next year I want to be 4 stone lighter. Anyone want to join me on this mission? You're support would be great and we can share our sorrow at the lack of chocolatey goods together

Right a proper day one for me. Feeling huge so need to shift this lard now.

1sttimeunicorn · 08/01/2018 08:03

Thank you everyone. You’re probably right, too much bread and rice. Time to make some changes.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 08/01/2018 08:05

I'd like to join please, I'm at my wits end with my weight and I'm determined to change things starting now. I've put on 3 stone last year and I'm now almost exactly the same weight I was at 9 mths pregnant with my eldest (who is a teenager now!). I am mid 40s and need to do something now before my health starts to suffer. So it's mainly just common sense slimming world type eating, easy on the carbs because they're my downfall and cutting out the junk as far as possible. I want this to be the heaviest I am this year, it's all downhill hopefully from here Smile

glenthebattleostrich · 08/01/2018 08:11

Hello, can I join you? I need to lose 4 stone this year, with at least half of it by April when we go to Florida (apparently just standing beside overweight Americans isn't a diet plan when you are roughly the size of a bay elephant!!)

I started on Saturday. My plan is a bit like 5:2 but with 5 800-1000 kcal days and 2 1400 cal days. Increase my steps and exercise 3 times per week. Start shred 1 Feb and really try to shrink!

BeyondWW · 08/01/2018 08:24

1st I wonder if you could up the fruit and veg?

Say maybe 1/1.5 weetabix with banana
Veg soup with one bread (or some croutons?) rather than a sandwich
Casserole with half rice and half (extra) veg?

Makes a small change without having to weigh things?

1sttimeunicorn · 08/01/2018 08:28

Ooh beyond that’s a nice idea. I always have bags of frozen veg in the freezer for DS so I could add it to my meals and do half the rice or pasta. Might be a bit less depressing too!

JumpingintoLCHF · 08/01/2018 08:33

1st we ditched all the rice and pasta in favour of veg. It is much easier than you think it will be and is really effective.

KateGrey · 08/01/2018 08:35

sobs in the corner I love carbs. Bye carbs.

gassylady · 08/01/2018 08:44

Will be keeping an eye on here for motivation whilst trying to get my head in a place to go for it. Not going to set a final target just sick of feeling like an old woman, like a pp realise that if I don’t sort it soon then really making myself unhealthy

JumpingintoLCHF · 08/01/2018 09:37

Kate I thought I loved carbs too. It was surprisingly easy to ditch them. Then I realised they're not even the tasty bit of a meal. Now the thought of eating pasta makes my mouth feel claggy

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 08/01/2018 10:20

glen

I lost weight in 2014 as i was terrified of not fitting on the rides in Florida Grin

I weighed less than i do now Hmm

Still it worked

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 08/01/2018 10:23

Hope everyone is ok today

I did pretty well yesterday although i swapped my last bar for microwave chips (there were less calories Blush

Last time i did a VLCD for a week it worked well as i did change my eating habits...i only gained weight when i stopped counting the calories and really upped my crap food and alcohol

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 08/01/2018 10:25

gassy

You are very right about being in the right place, i think thats why ive failed to even make an effort

unicorn

Its incredibly disheartening but really checking what you eat and drink is a really great idea from cheese

BeyondWW · 08/01/2018 10:26

Rufus, even at my skinniest (and a healthy bmi) my arse didn't fit in the seats for Nemesis at Alton towers. Stupid rides. Grin

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 08/01/2018 10:58

beyond

I also think they are making swings smaller

Years ago when i was much lighter than i am now i got on a swing with my little one...AND MY BUM DIDNT FIT

Manufacturing fault i reckon

BeyondWW · 08/01/2018 11:18

Definitely

DH claims my wide arse is why I don't keep breaking slats on our bed, as he does. He weighs less than me, but sits down like a heffalump Grin

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 08/01/2018 14:26

We have two single beds pushed together as i roll over like a heffalump Grin

Pigeonpost · 08/01/2018 14:33

I'm in! I said I would 4 stone before my 40th. That was in July... BlushI'd like to see 2 stone gone by my 41st at least. Covert SW here as the whole bloody town does it so I'm doing in online with support from a friend who has lost loads on it. 5:2 has also worked for me in the past so might chuck a few fast days in to help curb my constant snacking habit (and lack of proper breakfast and dinner) in a way that SW doesn't. I'm swimming 1000m x3 a week and doing what walking I can but have a foot injury so can't run at the moment. It's always been about diet for me though, not exercise. I have a serious buttered toast addiction and a complete inability to say no (apart from on fast days weirdly). I WILL get this done this year!!

SanFranBear · 08/01/2018 15:46

Smiled - a fellow swimmer Smile It's the only exercise I truly enjoy other than dancing and now I'm a lone parent, I get few opportunities to dance as ExH doesn't see the DC very much.

I admire your aim of 5k a week - I did a swimming challenge just over a year ago and whilst I did it all in one go, it was so bloody far. Getting out the pool at the end almost finished me off Grin I must get back to it so am going to try going on my Tuesday night's as that's the only night I have child free. Not going to try for 5k though - just a full hour.

SanFranBear · 08/01/2018 15:48

Should say - my challenge was 5k in a pool!

caprifun · 08/01/2018 22:30

So 8 days into the year and I've managed one 30 min run (though second half more walking than running), first 3 sessions of Adrienne trues beginners yoga on YouTube, and one hour long brisk walk. Not cut out snacking entirely as we still have all the Christmas snacks in the house. Bur feel im tackling portion control at main meal times, eg lunch today was a small bowl of homemade veg soup and one slice of bread, whereas normally I'd have a large bowl and a couple of slices. Not weighed in yet though. Will try to run tomorrow again if I can fit it in between a half days work and school runs.

Badgoushk · 08/01/2018 22:40

Me too please! I have 3 stone to BMI 25. Turned 40 last year, 2 children under 5. Need to lose 4 stone and KEEP IT OFF THIS TIME Blush

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 08/01/2018 23:07

sanfran am not doing the 5k all in one sitting!

Enjoy your lengths - I love getting into the zone - so good for your mood too Smile

SanFranBear · 09/01/2018 00:21

It really is very soothing, I get plenty of time to think and then the endorphins kick in Smile

I just wish I had the lane to myself as there's either someone just that little too slow you can't get past or someone up your tail who's just that little bit faster. I will admit I tend to use the University swimming pool as at least the fellow swimmers are quite fit, young things Blush

ladybirdsarelovely33 · 09/01/2018 00:26

Can I join too please? I need to lose 4 stones this year. I have just joined SW but don't completely get it tbh and need more discipline to sort out my sweet tooth.

It's a big year ahead with a friends wedding abroad and dh has a significant birthday.
