Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017-18 - Part 3

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/09/2017 19:49

Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

Urgh, we always go out for dinner on Halloween and was mentally prepped for Harvester... OH wants to go to Prezzo! Any ideas in lower syn stuff anyone please??

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 31/10/2017 19:30

I'm probably a bit late to the game, but hope you've found something suitable trinity - and if not, if can try to balance it out with the rest of the week Smile

I got a cracking night's sleep last night, so preparing for the same tonight! after GBBO DCs are due home shortly as they are out guising with some friends, so I'm prepared for them to be hopped up on sugar despite warning them it was a bad idea Hmm I never listened to my mother about these things either, so I can't really blame them! Smile

Hope you've all had good days, KOKO!

trinitybleu · 01/11/2017 11:52

Thanks tractors... It will be the latter! Was low syn on Monday and for most of yesterday so fingers crossed it won't have been a huge impact. I did have a salad for my main... And fed 2/3 of my chips to DD Blush

New day! KOKO

Hercy · 01/11/2017 12:51

How is everyone getting on? How is your mother Chesty? My SIL went through a hysterectomy last year so I know the recovery is pretty brutal.

I still haven't found my mojo. This time last year I was nearly 3 stone lighter in a well ingrained healthy eating and exercise plan, but now I seem to keep losing and gaining the same half stone. Le sigh. Just have to keep trying and hope I stick at it eventually.

ChestyCoffin · 01/11/2017 17:47

Hercy she's ok, had a polyp removed, fingers crossed that's it now. Thanks for asking Flowers

It's difficult isn't it. Would thinking about why you started losing help?

BoredOnMatLeave · 01/11/2017 18:52

Hey all, i think ill do a weigh in over the weekend as I'm expecting bad results, although when I checked today it was better than I thought.

My DD ended up in hospital over the weekend, nothing life threatening but she's still not well, although we are at home, so no sleep and a grumpy baby is making it really hard to stay on plan. Plus when we were in hospital I survived on vending machine food. Trying to just put it past me and focus on what I'm eating now but part of me is thinking "you ate wotsits all weekend and still lost a little so you may as well eat those smarties"

PostNotInHaste · 02/11/2017 07:21

Hope your DD is on the mend BoredonmaternityleaveFlowers

I'm having my weigh in today (week 51) as I suspect AF thinking about coming early again, or it might not, who bloody knows these days?!

Loss this week 3.75lb
Total loss to date 84lb
To lose 26lb

Very pleased as that's bang on 6 stone and I started a year ago next week. Big drop this week as back at deficit so glycogen and water on whilst maintaining last month has come off. I've done 78% of it now and am expecting the last lot to take some months and will be building in more maintenance breaks, definitely over Christmas for me. Might be an idea if we think about that a bit and have individual plans as to what we feel will work best to get us through the festive season.

Hercy this may seem counterintuitive but how about now to mid November eat at maintenance, then mid November to Mid December a deficit. maintenance mid December to New Year then deficit for a month? When you're doing it for long periods of time it is psychologically hard and maybe 'break' might lift the load and help you refocus ? Good practice for maintenance too.

@NotaNurse I hope things are ok with your DD Flowers

honeysucklejasmine · 02/11/2017 09:33

Lost the thread in my "I'm on" but found you again!

We're now in our new house, have unpacked the scales and located the battery. DS is one month old and DD is 20 months. I am knackered but other than an ongoing weakness for fruit and nut chocolate, I'm back on the wagon. So...

Loss since baby born: 1lb
Total loss: 19lbs
Loss to go: 83lbs

So pretty much the opposite of Post! I hope I can be where you are this time next year.

I'd love to get back to my "before I got pregnant" loss, which was 26lbs I think, so half a stone to go!

Bit stressed today. I think I've eaten something DS does like as he seems to be in a lot of discomfort when feeding and immediately afterwards, like it's giving him stomach cramps. 😢 Not nice. He's fallen asleep now and DD is watching the Lion King so once that's finished and he's topped up some milk (and cried about it) we're going to raid a shop called Homesense, which apparently is a TKMaxx of homewares. We didn't have them back where I am from so that's exciting, I guess.

I'm after the holy grail - a shower caddy, that won't rust, that hangs off the thermostatic bar. Don't want a wall suction one. Don't want to drill holes in my tiles. Don't want an over door one (it's a sliding door, won't open with something on it). Wish me luck! and that I don't go mental buying silly tat

BreakingSad · 02/11/2017 12:11

PostNot a huge well done to you that really is fantastic.

BoredOnMatLeave hope your Dd recovers quickly.

Honeysuckle hope your stress levels go down and you find the ideal shower caddy.

Chesty glad your Dm ok*

Hercy don’t look back, the only thing we can change is the right now

I’ve had a good week so far, let’s hope that it carries on into the weekend (where I always struggle to stay on track)

I'm really really struggling.

I'm constantly scared that I'm going to get diabetes and go blind (I know it's sounds ridiculous that that's my only fear, I can't explain why, just is)

I have no fit bit and no MFP as I don't currently have a phone that I can download the apps onto and my iPad is just refusing to do it.

I can't seem to manage without tracking my food, I've fucked up so much and I'm scared and completely furious at myself

AnotherOtter · 02/11/2017 17:14

Sorry that things are so rough right now, Lego Flowers I am afraid of getting diabetes too. The media shoves down people's throats how terrible a thing that is and like it's all our own fault. A thing a doctor told me is that there are multiple factors in getting any disease and while you've got to take responsibility for your own choices, no human gets to decide what diseases that they get or don't get. That's just a part of being human. He was talking about my bipolar disorder but it applies to diabetes too.

You can log your food on MFP on their desktop website www.myfitnesspal.com/ by logging in first then selecting 'Food' from the menu bar along the top of the screen.

Hope things improve for you soon.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 02/11/2017 17:51

Sorry it wasn't so self indulgent when everyone else has crap to deal with...I'm struggling with work and some other things and I had such high hopes...I'm 30 next May and so so wanted to have made some sort of difference..

I'm being a moany pain, ignore me!

I had no idea you could do it via desktop, thank you

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 02/11/2017 18:15

lego don't apologise for anything - letting it out is really healthy. We've introduced a dedicated 'moaning meeting' at work for staff to come and moan at someone (and give a wee bit of advice if it's appropriate), to stop people bottling everything up. I kind of feel like this thread is a good example of this Smile.

Sounds like there's a bit of a collective 'dip' going on - remember when we had one a few months back? We'll get through this one too. Someone told me this week that we can't change what has happened, and can't change the future, so we just have to start with right now, which has really struck a chord with me.

KOKO all, tomorrow is Friday after all Wink Grin

AnotherOtter · 02/11/2017 18:59

No need to say sorry, Lego, and you're not being a moany pain! I agree with Tractors that it's much better to let things out. Sounds like there's a lot going on for you. Turning 30 is hard, I hated the lead up to it. Try to be kind to yourself Flowers

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 02/11/2017 19:23

Thank you xx

I am admittedly really struggling with turning 30, I have so little to show for my life-no dp, no dc and currently living with my parents...I completely wasted my 20s and im so so angry with myself

PostNotInHaste · 02/11/2017 20:52

Notanurse, I'm so sorry, that sounds incredibly stressful Flowers I think the stress and lack of sleep are probably a bit part of why you are currently STS, something to do with cortisol I believe ? It's tough when you don't have the weekly reinforcement of the scales moving down but it might help your skin adjust to the weight you've already lost.

Lego sorry to hear you are struggling. I also agree with Tractors best to get it out. My DH has been diabetic since the age of 9 so for the best part of 40 years really. You always hear the horror stories with it. He's needed a tiny bit of laser treatment on the back of his eyes but I think his eye sight is better than mine if it helps to hear. Don't give up, accept that it might take longer than you would like it to but keep going. Half a pound here and another there all add up. Big birthdays are tough as they make you reevaluate your life and it can be very very unsettling. I went through some really tough times when my Mum was ill and I decided to do what I thought of as active appreciation. Each day I would try to enjoy three small things e.g. enjoy a good sing to a song on the car radio, listening to birds sing, mash a banana, mix with oats and chuck it on my face, go scrunching in the leaves. Sounds a bit pathetic and cheesy writing it down but it really lifted my mood for snippets of time when life got a bit dark.

Wasn't our last dip at the end of March? Is it a coincidence that we're having a collective one now when the flipping clocks have changed again?

PostNotInHaste · 02/11/2017 20:55

And more wise words from AnotherOtter too.

Honeysucle hope your stress levels reduce soon and you are now the owner of the right type of shower caddy. I find Homesense pretty exciting too !

ChestyCoffin · 03/11/2017 14:59

Hurrah for Friday! I'm exhaustipated!
Strange palpitationy feeling today, noticed it before my period last month.
I have 50 million things to do but am ignoring it all and relaxing on the sofa Hmm

I'm sorry things are tough for some of us Flowers

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 03/11/2017 15:10

I'm just reeling from finding out about Homesense - how did I not know this wonder existed! Shock There's one not all that far from me, very exciting!

I'm so happy its Friday - I am going to have a snuggly night on the sofa with a book, and then have a few plans for the weekend, but nothing too stressful. I did the bulk of my household chores last night, so don't have to spend the weekend cleaning domestic goddess

Scales look to be STS this week, but I don't mind too much about that. I wonder if there is any link between the clock change and our 'dip' - I wouldn't be surprised at all. I heard one of DD's friends call it 'domestic jet-lag' and was quietly furious I hadn't thought of that phrase myself Blush Grin

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 03/11/2017 23:37

Ive given my head a wobble and am determined to try my best next week!
I cant guarantee I'll achieve anything bit I know where my problems lie and hopefully can work on thise until I have a way to track my eating and exercise again

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 03/11/2017 23:39

Does anyone weigh themselves in the scale at the gym or boots/superdrug?
With such conflicting weighta on my hone scale I'm considering doing this but frankly weighing myself in the middle of a shop around other people makes me want to vomit

Keep going Lego

Interesting theory Notractors re clocks back and dip, definitely see how it pans over the next few weeks

I’ve STS this week, have been keeping on track so hoping a loss will show up next week.

To lose 113
Left to lose 63
Lost this week 0

Due for a nice long walk this morning, but sat here listening to the rain, guess its welly boots and an umbrella then.

Mooey89 · 04/11/2017 08:40

Please can I join? I have about 80lb to lose...

I got engaged last week and thought this needs to be the impetus to finally shift this weight.

I lost 5lb this week. Just trying to make sensible choices, keep roughly to 1500kcal per day and gymming 3-4 times per week.
