I’m still here, I’ve been doing Insanity Max 30 and I’m so hungry. I guess I’ve been picking at things without really noticing, not unhealthy things but bits of snacks, we’ll not even snacks really just bits and I’ve just weighed myself and I’ve gained 5lbs 😢. Must. Not. Snack. I’m gutted really, might as well not put myself through insanity!

beela · 09/03/2018 14:24

Oh yes!!! I've done it... As of today's weigh in I am officially exactly 3 stone down!

I'm so happy that I celebrated with cake Blush I'm sure that's not what you are meant to do but I don't care. It's been very slow progress since Christmas because I did lose discipline a bit - but if I can eat like this and maintain (which is my new goal) then I'm happy.

Woohoo!

TossDaily · 09/03/2018 14:30

Blimey, well done, beela!

How long did it take?

That's such a great achievement! Enjoy your cake; this is definitely a Special day!

beela · 09/03/2018 16:49

Thank you Smile

It's taken since last January. My eating habits aren't perfect now, but definitely definitely better than they were.

healthandwealth · 09/03/2018 20:46

Beela, woo hoo! So thrilled for you, congratulations. You definitely deserve that cake Thanks. Am hoping at some point in the not too distant future I'll too be able to post that I've achieved my target weight (it seems a long way off at the moment!).

Trialsmum, Insanity sounds completely hardcore! Hope your weight gain is just a blip.

Trialsmum · 09/03/2018 21:07

Well done @Beela!!

@healthandwealth it is pretty hard! But you see toning results really quickly. I weighed again on the morning and was ‘only’ 3lbs up so not quite as bad as I first thought 😂

PitPony · 10/03/2018 08:48

Beela huge Congrats to you. Well done.

Do you have any tips or advice you would pass to No S newbies?
How did you do it? Straight No S or did you add some of your own rules/restrictions etc?

TossDaily · 10/03/2018 10:29

Morning all.

I'm finding this plan really easy - except for Friday nights. It's as if I can't wait for Saturday, and after sharing a Friday night bottle of wine with DP, all bets are off Blush

I ate a leftover jacket spud and two bowls of Crunchy Nut last night - after my dinner BlushBlush

Is this something anyone else recognises?

beela · 11/03/2018 20:34

@pitpony thank you. It's been straight no s for the main part, with the occasional dry month thrown in. Also I upped my exercise a bit from about 3 months in.

Top tips:
Full fat everything.
Drink plenty of fluid. I have managed to convince myself that fizzy water is a treat Grin A glass of milk can help if you really feel you want a snack.
Think nutrition rather than calories when planning your meals.

Mainly though, just keep going and if you fall off the wagon then jump straight back on. It's slow and steady, but the losses will add up. I was frustrated at first by friends posting big sw losses on fb but a year on I have actually lost as much, if not more, than they have.

Good luck Smile

beela · 11/03/2018 20:39

@tossdaily yes! Friday night is the start of the weekend, right?? I think some people try doing Friday & Saturday as their s days, but that depends on how your Sundays generally go!

TossDaily · 12/03/2018 09:58

Sundays usually involve crumble and custard Blush

I do fine all Friday, until I hit the evening.

Must do better!

PitPony · 12/03/2018 16:17

@Beela thank you, good advice there. I’m currently struggling horribly with food. Eating everything in sight and I know it’s because I’ve been focusing on weight loss and restriction. I can’t seem to get started on No S at the moment, although I do want to. Will keep reading the thread until I can bring my head onboard!

healthandwealth · 13/03/2018 06:49

@PitPony i found it really hard to get going too. I let myself have fruit for snacks for the first few months to ease myself into it. I now find my meals are keeping me full for longer (more complex carbs had really worked for me) and now I don't really need those fruit snacks anymore. Good luck!

CarrotPuff · 13/03/2018 19:49

After having an awful eating everything in sight last week, I seem to have put on 1.5lbs. Got really angry with myself, so got my shot together, and had a very good Saturday (still had some sugar and snacks, but quite minimal), and managed to shift a lb. had same on Sunday and good no S day yesterday and lost another lb! Very pleased with that although today have slipped somewhat...

TossDaily · 15/03/2018 14:20

I've had a terrible two days. My period came along and I lost control around chocolate fingers, crisps, crunchy nut cornflakes and I even dug out a horrible little cake from the back of the pantry that has been hanging around since Christmas Blush

I'm back on the wagon today, but feeling pretty disgusted with myself. How does everyone else manage Witch Week?

beela · 15/03/2018 18:02

Today I have mainly coped with my 'it's my period so I need to eat all the food' moment by falling off the wagon. Its been a bit chocolatey Blush

But I do console myself a bit by thinking that at least it's only a couple of days a month, whereas I used to eat like that all the time!

TossDaily · 15/03/2018 21:27

There is that, Beela...Smile

Trialsmum · 15/03/2018 22:22

I only let myself have extra chocolate on the actual day I come on, otherwise it’s like 1/4 of the month 😵

healthandwealth · 16/03/2018 03:27

I had a crazy hormonal had-to-eat-everything-in-sight day last week. I was completely out of control Blush. I just chalked it up to a bad day and moved on.

CarrotPuff · 17/03/2018 09:43

We seem to all be in sync witch wise, I've got mine too. I've also got a cold and an awful cold sore Confused

Hi keepon I guess it's about finding a style that suits you. I really like this method as I've had food issues in the past eg bulimia so this has been a good way of trusting my body to eat what it likes but with sensible rules in place too. The weight loss has been really slow for me but I feel like I have much better practises in place now and I don't obsess over food like I used to!

healthandwealth · 25/03/2018 19:12

Woo hoo, I've lost 3 pounds this month!! Before I've only lost about 2 pounds in 4 months, so I'm really thrilled. I feel like I'm in much better habits now.

How is everyone else getting on?

MaggieMay23 · 25/03/2018 22:31

Hi I'm struggling to find a long term way of eating and tried No S about two years ago but let it lapse. Im thinking of trying again as I feel a mess and I'm at the point of having got into a dysfunctional way around food as I don't know what to eat or how to eat or when to eat. I want to be able to eat "normally" and not worry about being overweight. I've tried loads of diets and read dozens of diet books and all I know is that nothing works and I see people on a cycle of losing and putting it on again.

Is the No S website down - as I can't get onto the forum.

ShortandAnnoying · 26/03/2018 09:42

Hi everyone I have been thinking of coming back to No S which I first had a go at last year for a week Blush before that I was quite successful on a vlcd and lost 5 stones but I have been regaining and have put back on 3 stones. It's so frustrating!
When I did No S I did like it and lost a lb in my week so I thought it would work but it's so slow compared to vlcd that I got impatient right away and started trying to get back on the vlcd plan but I could never stick to it again and keep going off on binges.
I've been reading on the giving up diets thread and that made me think about why I'm bingeing as a reaction to the diet, I can't bring myself to just give up diets though but I am hoping No S diet will be a good compromise as I have heard a lot of people find it helps with disordered eating but still provides enough structure to lose some weight. In fact on the Eat like a normal person site, thats recommended by the non-dieters, she does speak very well of No S.
I was thinking of doing intermittent fasting alongside No S, partly as I thought I could use up some of my vlcd packs that way. I do think 5:2 is a good plan and has health benefits but I think that it might set me off bingeing again so I'm just going to do vanilla No S for now.
When I was doing the VLCD I would have all my packs in the evening so I am finding it a bit difficult to decide when to eat. I work at lunchtime and Dh works evenings so we have our main meal at 3.30pm. So I'm thinking a late breakfast at about 9ish, usual tea, then an evening meal at 7 or 8 might work. Not sure what to have in the evening I keep wanting to either count calories and say a healthy 200 cal meal or go mad and have a lot of my favourites which I do when I'm off plan and often go on to binge and raid the cupboards. Maybe this week I will try to be very vanilla No S and have what I want, a good meal size portion, but just the one plate.
