Hi Salene.

I've been doing no s since mid Jan last year, so around 13 months. I've lost nearly 3 stone now (2lb to go!). Started at 12st 8lb.

You are right, it is slow and steady. But I've never felt deprived, and fwiw I'd rather lose gradually than lose loads quickly and then pile it all straight back on.

healthandwealth · 20/02/2018 00:17

Beela keep reminding us of your weight loss as sometimes I feel this isn't working for me but when I read about your progress it keeps me motivated!

Salene · 20/02/2018 08:25

Beela if I could lose my 3 stone in just over a year I would be absolutely delighted

I’ve got everything crossed it works for me because up to now I start off well on diets lose up to a stone then fall off the wagon and put it straight back on this has been my life for last 6 years since putting weight on

I’m 38 and determind not to be fat and 40 so it’s now or never for me I need to succeed at this for my own happiness

beela · 20/02/2018 08:39

I was 38 when I started too Salene. I'm 40 later this year, eek!

beela · 20/02/2018 08:39

Thanks health Smile

I decided to start this diet on Wednesday after just two days back on MFP was making me lose the will to live! I read through this thread last night - well done to all of you who have persevered and got results with this - you are very inspiring.
I'm determined to give this a good go. I am definitely that impatient person who wants fast results but like many of you, I've had short term results on diets like the 5/2 before but find them completely unsustainable long-term.
I don't have loads to lose - ideally about a stone. I'm starting a new job on Monday and when I tried on a dress I bought in early Jan to wear for it, I looked 6 months pregnant! The dress was bought after 3.5 weeks in Australia, where guess what, I lost weight because no one around me was snacking and I followed suit! Came home determined to keep up the new good habits but was soon back on the chocolate at lunchtimes. So I think this diet could be just what I need to break bad habits and get me out of my tendency to binge as well as helping me lose a few pounds.

Welcome Cats and everyone else!

I was off on Tuesday so it was a complete disaster and ended being an S day. However, I've managed to do some exercise! I'll try to make Sunday an N day instead though.

Yesterday was a good day, and I got out for a run too, so feeling very virtuous 😇

Hope everyone is having a good week!

beela · 22/02/2018 10:22

We're away for a couple of days at the moment, with meals out and hotel breakfasts. I'm doing my best to make healthy choices, but I've decided that the weekend will have to be N days this week!

Trialsmum · 23/02/2018 21:54

Hiya, I must admit I’ve been struggling to stick to 2 S days for the past 2/3 weeks. I’ve gone past my target weight and people don’t seem to be very supportive of my quest anymore and it feels rude to say no all the time! I’ve managed to stick to one S day at the weekend but I end up yomping around after ds on his motorbike all weekend and I get so hungry! Plus you kind of have to eat what’s available when you’re in a field. Any tips on how to avoid S foods without causing offense to others?

healthandwealth · 24/02/2018 08:51

If it's someone else's baking and they'll be offended if I don't try it then I take the smallest slice possible, have a couple of bites then pass it onto hubby or the kids.
If it's shop bought cakes, biscuits etc I just turn it down now. I don't know if people are offended but I'd rather that then get any fatter!!

I accidentally had my s days during the week as was craving chocolate. I'll need to be 'good' now over the weekend. I went out for dinner last night and didn't have dessert, only had one drink and had a starter rather than a main Halo

TossDaily · 24/02/2018 08:54

Can I join in?

I need to lose a stone. I was mortified at yoga class this week when my stupid tummy got in the way of my plough position Blush

I'm over diets. Can't sustain them. I need to adopt good lifelong habits and knock the sugar on the head.

beela · 24/02/2018 09:15

I just usually say no thanks and people are polite enough not to question me! Or I say I'm not hungry.

healthandwealth me and you being good this weekend then. Come on, we can do it! I think I'm still full from my mahoosive hotel breakfast yesterday Blush

Welcome toss Smile

pfrench · 24/02/2018 22:41

I've been doing this since the end of January. I've had a week skiing since then too, where I vaguely stuck to things although had porridge with sugar for breakfast most days. I'm now 4lbs down, which I'm happy with. Interestingly, I had 4 pieces of chocolate this evening and feel REALLY sick. Not sure it's worth eating it.

I've swapped my S days to 48 hours from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch. Traditionally we have vice night on Friday, I don't want that to change.

CarrotPuff · 26/02/2018 21:01

I've lost half a lb last week. Only had 3 non S days Blush

Today was going really well and then I just ate the remaining piece of DD's bday cake after dinner. Wtf is wrong with me?

Trialsmum · 26/02/2018 21:18

@beela, I wish people would be polite to me, some have been down right rude! One colleague said she was going to rub some cake on my face! She was joking but still...

loraflora · 02/03/2018 11:39

Hello all, I am restarting with no S after doing it for a short while a couple of years ago. I recall at the time Iost 8lb on it but a lifestyle change threw me and I didn't get back to it.

I could really do with losing 3st to get back to a healthy BMI but right now would be happy with 1. My weight has been consistent over the last year after dropping 9lb from eating out less, so I would now like to do a bit more. My home cooked meals are not that bad, but night snacking is my big issue so I want to ditch that habit.

TossDaily · 02/03/2018 13:44

I've lost 2lb since I started this last week!

I did slip up and have seconds of spag bol last night, but I've laid off the sugar and it's been fine.

So far so good. Well done to all losers!

GottadoitGottadoit · 02/03/2018 23:30

Yay, so glad I found this thread!

Started No S on the 6th Feb. Have about a stone to loose and have been sticking to it pretty well.

Lost 1 lb in the first 3 weeks. The first couple of S days involved mega binges and I think I’m eating too much in terms of quantity and fat in my evening meal as feel panicky at the thought of not being able to have anything else till breakfast.

Since it’s not the sort of diet with loads of before and after pics and gushing testimonials of rapid weight loss on the net, I’m just looking for some reassurance that people do actually manage to get thin on this regime!

So far it’s the best diet I’ve ever been on, but getting a little discouraged since weight loss is so slow.

CarrotPuff · 03/03/2018 07:35

Gotta, if you lost a lb every 3 weeks, you'd lose over a stone in a year. It's a marathon, not a sprint Wink Scroll down for Beela's post if you need some inspiration!

I've lost another half a lb this week. Would like it to go a bit quicker, but it's better than nothing, especially as I wasn't that religious about it!

TossDaily · 03/03/2018 08:42

I have a question. I'm trying to up my fruit and veg intake, so I have a dish of tinned fruit or a piece of fresh fruit after my breakfast and dinner. I find this helps keep sugar cravings at bay, too.

But now I realise I'm not sticking to the 'one plate' rule.

Does anyone else do this and have you still lost weight? Or am I scuppering my weight loss?

TossDaily · 05/03/2018 10:41

Did I kill the thread? Shock

beela · 06/03/2018 14:51

Haha, possibly?! Grin

healthandwealth · 06/03/2018 23:26

I'm still here!

Toss I personally wouldn't think eating some extra fruit would matter too much. Better that than you end up 'accidentally' eating chocolate biscuits later as you were craving something sweet. Mind you my weight loss has been v slow so maybe I'm not the best person to dish out advice Confused
