Me too Carrot! I had two days off last week and weighed in today, I’ve gained 2lb! Shock Back on it from today but finding it tough.

healthandwealth · 06/02/2018 06:22

Hopefully the weight gain is just a small blip Faith? If you've been exercising a lot that can cause you to be heavier.

DD's nightmares seem to be over for now so I've been sleeping again and feeling far more human, yay!! My willpower has been much stronger as a result.

Hope everyone's having a good week x

Solina · 07/02/2018 08:29

I have decided to give this a go starting from now so wanted to come and say hello!

frieda909 · 07/02/2018 09:45

I just found out about this ‘diet’ from a thread in AIBU and it sounds like exactly what I need. I find I’m most successful with weight loss when I have some kind of rules to follow, but I have some obsessive tendencies and it can be easy for me to get a bit too hung up on things. This sounds ideal as the rules are so simple and they aren’t telling me that particular foods are totally forbidden.

I’m giving it a go starting from today!

beela · 07/02/2018 19:25

Hi frieda and solina. Go for it!

I struggled a little bit in January but seem to have turned a bit of a corner this week and I'm back on it.

Hope everyone else is doing OK.

CarrotPuff · 07/02/2018 19:47

Glad to hear sleep has been better health.

Welcome Frieda and solina!

It looks like my appetite is already resetting, after struggling for the first 2 days I already seem to be coping much better between meals and not thinking about food all the time!

On the down side, I've weighed myself and I seem to have put on 3lbs since last week. Looks like mindless stuffing my face has finally caught up with me Confused

frieda909 · 07/02/2018 21:56

I’ve managed OK with my first day although I’ve definitely stretched the rules and had a few glasses of wine tonight Blush but I managed to resist the chocolate biscuits my boyfriend brought home!

healthandwealth · 08/02/2018 00:14

Welcome Frieda and Solina!

Well done on resisting the biccies Frieda! My hubby eats chocolates/crisps every night and it's taken a lot to resist but now I automatically say no without thinking about it (and have a piece of fruit if I really want something sweet).

I've been having a few too many glasses of wine too Blush

Solina · 08/02/2018 19:22

frieda well done on your first day! We can do this!

My first two days have been easy enough, no real temptation just yet even with all the junk we have in the office. I have had pretty big portions for dinner but I need to get used to the routine first and then cut down the portions.

shouldaknownbetter · 08/02/2018 20:31

I started this diet on Monday and i feel like this could be the answer for me.. I had become very much a yo yo dieter, losing weight quickly through quite strict ketosis dieting (no carbs basically) but then seeing it go back on again quite quickly too and developing very much a diet or binge mindset.

The last straw was christmas when, after losing a stone in the 2 months before i put it all on again and in a crazy, eat as much as I can stuff in while I can kind of way.

I realised that I can't do that kind of dieting again.

What I like about No S is that you're not on a diet or off a diet.. any treats just have to wait until the weekend.

I am the world's worst evening nibbler. I used to say i only eat once after dinner.. but it's a continuous feast from 7 pm til I go to bed. Actually even after I'd gone to bed I would still eat whilst in bed reading.. and even sometimes fall asleep then wake up and eat more.

Well since I started no S I've not done any evening snacking. I have allowed myself to have a small supper of something healthy as I'm so used to eating a lot in the evenings that it's too much from having a relatively early dinner to get through to breakfast. But I sit and eat at the table and it's very much a (mini) meal. Hopefully in time I will reduce /eliminate this too.

I really hope this can be an end to the years of yo yo ing and my way to a healthy relationship with food. I'm about a stone overweight but if if it has to come off slowly to be permanent, so be it. I keep thinking that i can't let this latest weight gain be in vain, so if I come to a better relationship with food and stop the insanity of binging and dieting, it'll be worth it.

ohthegoats · 08/02/2018 23:13

I've just started this properly too. Have dabbled before, but tried to combine with BSD/calorie counting/low carb and all the other things that make me obsessed with food and mentally unhealthy.

Have been going since 29th Jan. Am not going to weigh myself, will go on how my clothes feel. Already feeling a bit 'better' - physically and mentally.

By eating everything (not cutting out food groups etc), I've worked out where I can and can't get away with eating certain things - my body doesn't react well to bread (which is why I went low carb years ago), but is fine with pasta... presumably it's the yeast or something in the bread rather than wheat. So that's nice to know. It feels quite hard to overeat off just one plate. Even if I feel full at the end of the meal (I've been doing BSD most recently), I'm hungry again within a couple of hours or so, so it's obviously around the right amount to eat three meals a day. The no sweets thing is easy.

We'll see. I took photos last weekend, will take photos once a month.

I've also tried to stop being obsessed about exercise. Instead of going hell for leather on everything and overdoing it, I'm going to aim for 3 x running a week (I like running), and two weights/strength sessions - Body Pump probably, since easy to follow.

And just plod on with it all. The year is going to pass anyway, it would be nice if I was a couple of stone lighter this time next year.

shouldaknownbetter · 09/02/2018 13:39

Have you tried edamame pasta ohthegoats? I have to watch my carbs due to diabetes, although I'm trying not to be obsessive about it, I'm allowing myself one carby meal per day. Unfortunately my body just cannot handle much carbs, irrelevant of diets, but in the past I've cut out carbs obsessively and then binged on them when I break the diet so I need to find some way of incorporating them to avoid feeling deprived but without it affecting my long term health either.

So I'm going for a low-ER carb approach whilst doing this plan, and I will allow some sweet treats on the weekend but not go mad hopefully.

Out for a 6 course dinner tonight - booked ages ago for my birthday - so that's not going to be a no S day is it. And it's not even my actual birthday today, my birthday is tomorrow. So I think I'm going to do No-S until I go out for the meal and then count it as an S day thereafter - more of an S evening actually.

What is BSD?

CarrotPuff · 11/02/2018 15:24

Happy birthday for yesterday should!

BDS is blood sugar diet I think - very strict low cal low carb diet that can reverse type 2 diabetes.

So Friday ended up being an S day for me. I don't work on Fridays so it's always difficult to not treat it like a weekend day.

Also not sure what's happening to
My scales, they seem to indicate I've put another 2 lbs on despite my jeans feeling looser. I'm certain I don't weigh 11st, not been this weight for ages and definitely don't feel it.

Couldn't do any exercise as got very painful wisdom tooth 😢 got antibiotics now though so should be on the mend now!

How's everyone else doing?

Singingtherapy · 13/02/2018 13:20

Hi, room for another latecomer? I've known about this diet for a while but have just decided to give it a go, started yesterday. First impressions are good! I really enjoyed my meals yesterday and managed without snacking reasonably easy.

PitPony · 13/02/2018 15:03

I've been lurking on and off for several months. Reluctant to post because I tend to be a thread killer. Shock

I'm considerably overweight. History of issues around food. I tried No S last year for about 5 months, and although it wasn't perfect in that I still had the occasional binge, I felt more in control and calmer around food than I have done for almost 40 years.

Anyway, it's too late for me to start today Blush but I'm in from tomorrow.

Trialsmum · 13/02/2018 22:25

Welcome @PitPony and good luck!

Solina · 14/02/2018 07:46

Welcome singingtherapy and pitpony.

So I had my first struggle yesterday when I really wanted to have some pancakes. I managed to resist the temptation and just have the one portion of a normal dinner instead.

We would normally have a nice meal out as today would be a good excuse for it but we will be cooking at home instead and no chocolates will be in the house.

PitPony · 14/02/2018 08:59

Thank you trials and Solina. Glad I haven't killed the thread!

I'm starting today. I've written down my three meals as I found previously it was much easier for me to stick to when I had a plan.
I did very well when I followed No S last year, but I went off track over Christmas and am still off track.

DH and I aren't going out this evening but there's a possibility he'll bring a special Valentine's Day dessert home. Not sure how to deal with that.

Trialsmum · 14/02/2018 17:44

@PitPony just count it as an S day and only have one at the weekend. I often split my S day’s if there’s a ‘need’ to eat sweet things during the week and also I don’t really feel the need to eat junk two days in a row!

Trialsmum · 14/02/2018 17:44

Sorry cancel the apostrophe in day’s that was my phone!

Singingtherapy · 15/02/2018 14:54

I'm thinking along those lines as well. As a family we're most likely to eat out on Friday evening so Friday and Sunday will probably be my S days.

Solina · 16/02/2018 07:38

I have lost about 3.5 pounds since the beginning which feels good as it hasn't been that difficult to follow with none of the counting or wondering if I can eat something.

I did have seconds yesterday but it was actually salad I had so not the worst it could have been. Not going to be making a habit out of it though!

I have also had to snack twice this week but both times I have chosen a healthy snack like a piece of fruit or veg just to have enough energy for my excercise class I have been taking.

healthandwealth · 16/02/2018 23:18

Well done on the weight loss Solina. I'm feeling a bit frustrated here as I still haven't lost any weight this year Sad. I might need to watch myself a bit more on my S days. I hadn't thought about splitting my S days, but that's a good idea, I'm going to start doing that.

CarrotPuff · 18/02/2018 14:57

I'm yet to lose any weight too, but AF is on its way, so probably won't happen for another week now.

Salene · 19/02/2018 09:00
