Beela, well done and go you! Your post is pretty inspiring and it's heartening to see this sensible way of eating does work! I've only been doing this for a couple of weeks but I'm already 3 pounds down and I hope I can follow in your footsteps Smile

FaithEverPresent · 19/01/2018 08:10

So on Wednesday I was feeling a bit frustrated because the weight isn’t falling off (I’ve lost about 2lb since NY). Then I saw Beela’s post and reminded myself I said I’d commit for the whole of January. Yesterday I had a meeting about going back to work. I felt stressed, even though the meeting was generally positive, I thought about having an S day but realised it would be a ‘Sod it’ day and I’d eat tonnes of junk, rather than feel my feelings. So I chose not to and had a normal No S day. It was only when I’d got to bed that I realised how much control I’d had to do that! Even on SW I’d still have said ‘Sod it!’. So I’m sticking with it a bit longer.

beela · 19/01/2018 18:39

Thanks cinnamon, that sounds like a great start!

Well done for staying strong faith. I try to keep extra s-days to truly 'special' days like family birthdays etc. Although I do like the idea of a sod-it day Wink

I must admit I was also frustrated by the slow weight loss to start with, especially when friends are posting about their massive sw losses on fb. I averaged 1lb per week to start with. It has slowed down now I am a more sensible weight! However, I reckon the fact that it is a sustainable long term way of eating counts for a lot, and the weight loss does add up slowly but surely. Keep going.

Have a good weekend everyone Smile

beela · 19/01/2018 19:35

Just realised I sounded a bit preachy about the s days. To put it into context, today is meant to be an n-day for me. So far since I got home I have eaten half a Welsh cake, 3 salted almonds, and a handful of raspberries Blush

FaithEverPresent · 19/01/2018 19:57

Ha ha Grin I guess once you’ve been doing it for a while you can apply some flexibility? I used to do that with SW. Well as long as I don’t flake tonight I will have achieved my first full week on plan Smile (first week I had a snack on the Friday, last week I had a planned S day). That’s an achievement!

FaithEverPresent · 22/01/2018 21:37

Still motoring on here! I indulged at the weekend, enjoyed a guilt-free trip to TGI Friday’s! I keep swinging between getting frustrated that the weight loss is slow but then enjoying the weekend...weighed myself tonight. I’ve actually lost a total of 4lb since New Year which actually is pretty good. Maybe it’s just that this month has felt really loooong?!

healthandwealth · 22/01/2018 23:33

It definitely feels like a slow month here! Well done on your weight loss Faith. 4lbs in 3 weeks sounds pretty good to me! I'm holding steady here. Maybe I need to up the exercise. I'm doing 20 mins yoga every morning and 20 minute walk at lunchtime, maybe that's not enough?

Chipstick10 · 23/01/2018 09:25

Hello been lurking and have also started this way if eating back in October. It was pretty easy but by the end of November I forgot about it because I was busy with holiday and Xmas.
Starting again now. Reading through this thread everyone sounds so good at the weekends. When I did it the first time I didn’t restrict myself at all. I ate a slice of cake saturdays . Takeaway sat night and cake on Sunday. That’s bad isn’t it ?

healthandwealth · 23/01/2018 18:30

I wouldn't have thought that was too bad Chipstick. Weekends are about being more relaxed and enjoying yourself. And some weekends are going to be more indulgent than others

Chipstick10 · 23/01/2018 20:20

Thanks healthandwealth. One more question. I have two cups of coffee a day with a small spoon of brown sugar is this allowed ?

FaithEverPresent · 23/01/2018 21:21

Chipstick I believe that’s fine. It’s not no sugar but no ‘sweets’, so a bit of sugar on stuff/in stuff is okay, just not desserts etc.

I’ve gone a bit mad my first couple of weekends (started at NY) but I can feel myself calming down a bit now.

Chipstick10 · 23/01/2018 22:35

Thank you Faithi shall check in from time to time.

beela · 25/01/2018 12:22

Afternoon! How's everyone getting on?

I've spent all morning not eating cakes in the office (loads of treats here this week) but just had to eat an emergency satsuma as I'm not likely to get out for lunch until gone 2pm. I don't feel too guilty, on balance.

Trialsmum · 25/01/2018 17:08

Hi ladies, I can’t believe that my chocolate addiction has completely disappeared. It’s the first day of my period and ds just handed me a twirl wrapper whilst I was leaning on a high up reception desk. The smell of chocolate wafted straight up my nose and I DIDN’T even crave it for a second! This is the person who previously ate chocolate instead of lunch every day! I’ve had a few portions of cake recently (on s days) which have also done nothing for me. I’m really craving fruit though 😀 and I’m pretty sure I’ve been fighting a cold all week and I’m sure the extra vitamins are staving it off.

Ruggles · 26/01/2018 16:52

That's fab TrialsMum I wish mine would disappear... I am finding it quite difficult...

Trialsmum · 26/01/2018 21:22

They will, I have been doing this since last April...!

beela · 26/01/2018 22:34

I've been doing this since last January and I still love a bit of cake, more's the pity. Though I will admit that a mouthful is usually enough these days. And I am much more fussy about the quality of the sweet stuff I consume. No more Mr Kipling for me.

Ruggles · 27/01/2018 10:32

Thanks ladies - I find your experiences and success very motivating. :) I had a really good day yesterday and one builds another. I find it difficult after the weekends, so have a slightly different plan for this one!

beela · 27/01/2018 11:38

Well done ruggles.

I didn't do particularly well last week but that's OK. My weight has maintained so it can't have been too terrible. I'm going to make a meal plan for next week full of yummy meals and make it a fully green week.

FaithEverPresent · 27/01/2018 11:44

Ruggles I’m finding relaxing at the weekends quite odd after restricting myself for a year on SW. I’m still on the FB group and I find the guilt surrounding enjoying treats quite shocking now! I love this way of eating, it’s a huge change. I do find it a bit tough to get back on it on a Monday but I’m blowing out less at the weekend now.

So far this month I’ve onlg had one red day which I’m really pleased about Smile I’m going to give it a full month but I do think I’ll have to adapt to have a snack (probably just fruit) because I’m struggling to go from lunch - around 1pm - to dinner at 7.30 (after DD is settled).

beela maintaining is pretty good!

healthandwealth · 29/01/2018 09:00

Faith I'm ex SW too and I found it hard to adjust. I've been doing no S for about 3 or 4 months and have probably only lost a few pounds, but I feel I've got a much healthier attitude towards food now and no guilt about having the occasional indulgence. As someone with long term eating issues that's a really big deal for me.

I work long days and sometimes have to go 6 or 7 hours in between meals, so do sometimes 'cheat' and have a piece of fruit. I get low blood sugar so don't feel too guilty about it! Compared to the mini meals I used to have as 'snacks' I don't think that's too bad. That may not be in the spirit of no s but that's the only way it works for me! And if I can go without a snack then I do.

CarrotPuff · 30/01/2018 18:04

Oh wow Beela your achievements are so inspiring! It's so easy to get demotivated by the slow progress, but these are really impressive changes once you add them up!

Trying to jump on the wagon after Christmas overindulgence and long series of colds and bugs, for me and the kids. I'm fighting off another cold at the moment, but hoping I can restart just doing 3 healthy meals from tomorrow.

FaithEverPresent · 31/01/2018 16:27

That’s good to know health.

I’ve had a total fail day today! I worked across lunch (weird hours due to phased return). Didn’t get a proper lunch break and I’ve been eating loads since! Never mind, start again tomorrow. Only two fails for the month of January so I’m pretty happy with that.

healthandwealth · 03/02/2018 00:19

I had a fail yesterday too. My youngest has had nightmares all week so I was tired and grumpy and without even realising it starting snacking..a lot! When lunchtime came round I wasn't hungry so didn't really eat, but then just snacked all afternoon instead!!

How does everyone else cope when they're tired? I definitely need more food when I'm tired/hungover and I've never found a way around it!

CarrotPuff · 05/02/2018 20:14

Health I'm the same. I just snack for energy and my willpower disappears. Fx for a better night for you!

Well, last week was a complete write-off Confused I'll put it down to being ill... I did go for a run yesterday though, but seem to have strained my back Confused

Today has been pretty good so far, will just make myself a cup of tea and early bedtime me thinks!
