twofloorsup · 18/08/2017 14:47

WoohooSmile
Better than my wetherspoons breakfast this morning with cold burnt hash browns, cold beans and solid egg yolks Confused I'm so going to enjoy my home made lunch this afternoon !

PosiePootlePerkins · 20/08/2017 08:15

Hi everyone Smile Got back from our camping trip yesterday evening. We had a lovely time and very much needed it was too! I am not going to lie, I have not stuck to NoS religiously, most days I have had some form of treat (and possibly the odd cream tea or twoBlush) however, I have not snacked, and have done way more exercise than usual. Trudging over two fields to wash up or go to the loo was a good start! Have weighed myself and only put on 1lb so am happy with that. Going to get back on it today, I know its Sunday but that's a bit irrelevant under the circumstances Grin
Welcome newbies, I hope you find NoS suits you, loads of friendly support and advice here.

lucysnowe · 21/08/2017 09:33

hi all I am going to join you guys if that's ok. I have put on almost three stone in the last year or so... lots of stress and things going on, but as things are a bit calmer I am going to try sorting myself out now. I do get a bit depressed when I feel fat (not the right attitude I know) so hope that feeling a bit healthier will give me a general boost. Started yesterday and have stocked up on oakcakes and Vogel bread (because am carb fiend). I've cut out sugar before and it really makes me appreciate choc etc more when I don't eat so much of it!!

beela · 21/08/2017 16:57

Welcome back posie, glad you had a good holiday. Hi lucy, welcome.

I'm having a bad day today - I can't seem to stop nibbling! Just when I think I've got the snacking under control Sad I'm drinking a cup of herbal tea right now to stop myself from diving into the cake tin.

PosiePootlePerkins · 21/08/2017 21:34

Bad luck beela its hard when the munchies strike. Hope you've managed to stay strong!

PosiePootlePerkins · 21/08/2017 21:35

Welcome to NoS lucy Smile

lucysnowe · 23/08/2017 12:03

Thanks guys :) ok for the last three days or so. Trying to stay off the booze too although went out with friends yesterday so had a little slip up :)

Venella · 24/08/2017 12:11

Hi all, checking in and hoping everyone's doing alright. Pretty sure I haven't lost any weight yet (still haven't replaced the battery in my scales). Need to be more ware on non-s-days and have started to make my portions smaller. Only a few bites less, nothing drastic, still feel satiated just not quite as stuffed to the gills as I'm used to...

Anyway, I'll carry on, reminding myself that the main point for now is the benefit of feeling more in control of my food. So in a way, at least my mind has become lighter!

EddSimcox · 24/08/2017 21:59

Checking in to confess to a bad week. Eating less than I would have is about all I can claim. I need to reduce my portion sizes too Hmm

PosiePootlePerkins · 24/08/2017 22:18

Lucy I also try not to drink on N days, although my holiday seems to have messed that up a bit! Trying to get back on track though.
Venella great progress! Such a good feeling when you realise you are capable of control around food. I like the idea of a lighter mind, its a good description of how NoS empowers our thought processes with eating.
Edd one step at a time, eating less than usual is progress! Portion sizes will follow in time. And some days you'll feel like eating more, other days not so much. I try and go with the flow and not worry too much. Change will happen over time.
I am back in control after a few extra Ss on holiday, feels good to have a routine which I am so comfortable with. Time of the month for me so my weight is up a pound, but I went for a health check today at our new doctors surgery and the nurse noted that I had lost weight since the last time I was forced to step on the scales! He asked how I'd done it, I tried to explain the princples of NoS, I don't think he'd heard of it.
In other news, Reinhard commented on my 10 month testimonial on the NoS forum, I am more than a little bit chuffed! SmileSmileSmile

DoNotBringLulu · 25/08/2017 07:05

Hi all, can I join you? I am doing Slimming World and struggling.....no weight loss for a while, I go off the boil, and find the group boring. I am training for Great South Run; if I can lose a stone before it will be easier (need to lose about 3 stone). The plan sounds sustainable.

beela · 25/08/2017 12:26

Ooh posie, that is exciting!

I've been reasonably good this week but I'm noticing my snacking / grazing habit creeping back in. Nothing major, but a sweet here and a bite of dd's biscuit there, and they all add up! I think I need another super strict week.

I'm off to my uncle's big birthday lunch on Monday so that will be an s-day, but will try to be good over the weekend to mitigate that.

Hope everyone has a good weekend Smile

Runningoverthefields · 25/08/2017 18:17

I need a super strict week too - this week was really stressful and I lapsed into emotional eating (but no binges, just snacking - so that's something). I have a couple of treats planned in for the weekend then I've meal planned the week ahead.

I'll try to check in here more often for some accountability.

Good luck for this week everyone :)

twofloorsup · 25/08/2017 19:10

Hi all.
I'm still about nothing much has changed except I'm feeling a bit complacent in terms of nutrition.
I'm craving salt over sugar and now eating crisps and cheese and crackers with chutney, things that I wouldn't touch before.
I think I'm going to have to impose a rule on myself that crisps are not part of a healthy meal and limit them to weekends only.
Have a great weekend all Smile

PosiePootlePerkins · 25/08/2017 20:16

Thanks for the enthusiasm beela Grin Sounds like we're all having a few mini struggles, I really believe that every time we manage to stay strong we build up our willpower just that little bit more, which makes it just that little bit easier to say no the next time. Have a great weekend everyone Smile I have saved an oat cookie made by my mum to enjoy tomorrow! Enjoy those Ss.

Ilikehappy · 25/08/2017 22:50

Hello everyone I'd like to join. I've just started No S. I have been doing a vlcd got to my GW but struggled with maintaining and regained 2 stones. I didn't want to go back on vlcd but was just yoyoing, on vlcd for a week then a bit of a binge and regain. I found no S and thought it might help me get into a sensible healthy eating pattern. I must say I was scared I would lose at all on the amount of food allowed but I did lose a lb this week which I'm very happy with, as I was happy to lose even slower as long as I can actually lose. I really like all the helpful advice on building healthy eating habits on the No S site and podcasts. I do think No S is a good combination of strict, simple rules (which helped me on the vlcd) and some moderation and treats that makes it easy to live with.

PosiePootlePerkins · 26/08/2017 07:27

Hello happy and welcome to NoS.

Ilikehappy · 26/08/2017 07:54

Hi Posie it's a bit of a difficult No S week coming up as Dh is off work and we are having a bit of a staycation and going on lots of day trips, plus my Mums birthday. So I will just do my best.

PosiePootlePerkins · 26/08/2017 11:04

Holidays are always tricky happy. I have tried a couple of things which have worked. You are allowed 2 special days in the week per month for things like birthdays that don't fall on weekends. So you could if you wanted to, allocate two of your holiday days as special days and stick to NoS for the rest of the week. This summer I managed to stick to the spirit of NoS, but with a few treats aswell. I think the main thing is to try and keep that feeling of control around food as much as possible, I have always linked holidays with the excuse to eat and drink as much as possible (!) so I do feel I have made progress with NoS.
Good luck and have a lovely weekSmile

bowbear · 27/08/2017 20:45

Hello everyone!
It feels like ages since I've posted but no S and all your lovely positive posts and the struggles shared and overcome are never far from my mind.
I hope everybody is enjoying the summer and managing to stay on track.
School holidays have completely thrown all routine out of the window and I can't lie, I have definitely deviated from the plan a little more than I would have liked. But, whilst I haven't stuck to it religiously, the major positive that I'm taking is that I haven't gone completely off the rails....and, as the holidays are nearly over I'm really looking forward to getting stuck back in. My high point this week was buying two pairs of jeans and two tops....in a smaller size Smile Its the first time I've been clothes shopping this year and I had a spring in my step as I flounced out of the shop with my new goodies...now I need to make sure I dont get complacent and can still fit into them in a month!!

Hey guys - going to jump in here with you all if that's ok :D I have a LOT of weight to lose. Me and DH started this today. I'm terrible at picking food all day long and not eating an actual meal and also bad for snacking at night with DH. He doesn't really have much to lose, a stone or so but I have several, 3 kids, several operations and not looking after myself has taken it's toll and i'm sick of being so bloomin fat.

PosiePootlePerkins · 28/08/2017 16:39

Hi bowbear nice to hear from youSmile and congrats on the smaller clothes, always a good feeling.
Welcome myfather I hope you find NoS suits you. It can be tricky in the early days as you adjust to the hunger, but hang on in there just focus on getting the habits sorted. The rest will follow over time. This is not a quick fix, but is perfect for helping you achieve a normal relationship with food. Good luck, any questions just ask.

bowbear · 28/08/2017 20:35

Thanks Posie, it's good to be back Smile

Welcome to the thread Myfather, it's such a simple, common sense plan. It is a challenge when you first start out but it's surprising how quickly you can adapt to it. I found the biggest challenge was allowing myself to be hungry...I never stopped snacking long enough to be hungry before I started No S! I've found it such a revelation and a really good feeling finally being in control. As Posie says, it's not a quick fix but it really does work. Good luck x

Morning all, and welcome newbies. Keep posting, this thread is great for support.

Well done on the clothes bow. Enjoy wearing them Smile I was the same about hunger.... now I feel a bit annoyed if a mealtime comes around before I'm feeling hungry!

Just checking in to remind myself that it is super strict week this week for me Grin

Weight loss has definitely slowed down over the summer holidays but I have lost a little, and I've kept up the Jillian Michaels habit so I have toned up a bit too. I feel like I need a good few weeks on the straight and narrow now before the Christmas temptations start to creep in Shock
