Super strict week challenge #1: homemade scones and jam in the kitchen at work. I must resist!

bowbear · 29/08/2017 23:35

Thanks Beela! Well done on summer weight loss, any loss over the holiday season is no mean feat Smile

Can't believe we have to start worrying about Christmas treats already...that's enough to scare me back on to the straight and narrow!!

Hello everyone sorry I'm too far behind to mention anyone in particular Blush

I'm having a bit of bother in my personal life but No S remains a priority and I've just acquired some dinner plates the size I'd have had as a child so I'm going to start using those in order to bring my portion sizes down a little.

On a happier note I saw a friend yesterday that I've not seen for a while and she greeted me with skinny Minnie (far from it but I've obviously lost weight and it shows). Happy days Smile

Hope you're all well and happy.

Hi all, I've followed the no s plan since last Thursday & giving myself a green highlighter mark on the calendar for each day....It feels odd to give myself a green mark today as my evening meal was veggie burger and chips in the Harvester! Have I understood correctly? I've had no sweets, snacks or seconds, I've had breakfast of scrambled eggs & beans, lunch of leftover pasta Bolognese then the Harvester meal. I'm really pleased I found this diet though, as it is so easy to follow. Has anybody found it works as suggested and reduced portions?

PosiePootlePerkins · 30/08/2017 22:15

Hi two good to hear from youSmile Sorry to read that things aren't great for you, feel free to post if there's anything you need support with. Well done on sticking to NoS, not easy when life is throwing challenges at you, and fab to have a positive comment from your friend.
Hi Lulu, yep you're following it perfectly, have a read here for more info www.nosdiet.com/
I have lost 2 stone over 10 months, almost 11 months now in fact, it is a slow weight loss diet but it does work, and more importantly it helps you form good habits around eating and a normal relationship with food. Over time you will probably find that your appetite naturally decreases, although I still have hungry days, the temptation to fill my plate with calorific food is less than it used to be. Best advice I always say to people in the early days is to just focus on getting the habits ingrained, try not to worry too much about what the scales say, the rest will follow in time. Good luck!

fannyanddick · 30/08/2017 22:17

I'm in

MyfatheristheKing · 31/08/2017 01:44

Day three finished and tbh it's been so easy. So how the hell did I get so overweight in the first place lol. I'm still terribly confused how I will lose weight doing this lol. Seems too good to be true almost! My DH on the other hand is finding it quite hard as he (like me) is a snacker and could pick all day long.

beela · 01/09/2017 18:49

Hi all. two sorry to hear you are having a tough time but well done on not letting it derail your eating.

My super strict week hasn't been a total success. I had an S day on Monday, perfect days on Tuesday and Wednesday, then slipped up a little bit yesterday (finished off ds's leftover cake) and today (a couple of haribo at the cinema). As slip ups go they weren't massive I guess. Looking forward to homemade curry and a glass of wine for tea tonight.

DoNotBringLulu · 02/09/2017 07:45

I was weighed at Slimming World (paid in advance so still going for another couple of weeks) and I have gained 0.5lb. I am not concerned though as every time I've lost weight with ww or Slimming World it's just gone back on. Nothing's worked. Posie did it take a while at first to see weight loss? Do you exercise as well? Enjoy weekend everyone!

PosiePootlePerkins · 02/09/2017 13:30

Hi Lulu I only lost around 1/2 lb a week in the early days of NoS, then as I got into it sometimes it would be 1lb. I have also had periods of a few weeks where my weight loss has stalled, but just kept going and eventually it came off again. I am terrible for avoiding exercise, I really don't enjoy it! But several posters on here are very good at doing regular exercise. I know I should and am sure it would help so don't follow my example!

beela · 03/09/2017 22:10

I think my weight has been pretty much at a standstill over the summer hols. School's back tomorrow, so bring on the new start and the Christmas countdown. Eeeeeek!!

twofloorsup · 04/09/2017 15:07

Hello all just checking in.
I learned something new today.
Porridge with no extras barely lasts 3 hours before rampaging hunger sets in Grin my usual with added nuts and dates lasts me 6-7 hours !

DoNotBringLulu · 04/09/2017 19:36

twofloorsup I find that with porridge, I never think of having nuts with it, normally sliced banana on top. Will try that I think!

At work today there was a lot of cake, cake and more cake....I didn't have any despite feeling a bit hungry this afternoon. I have bought the No S book on my kindle app and I like his ideas, this is the most sensible and sustainable plan I've followed! He talks about other diets that allow snacks as appeasing a bad habit...that really makes sense.

twofloorsup · 04/09/2017 21:06

I have nuts dates and a banana !

beela · 05/09/2017 10:42

OMG!!! Very exciting news.... I finally caved in and bought some new bathroom scales and these new ones do fancy calculations. Anyway, I've just set them up and they have informed me that I have hit 'normal' bmi!! 24.9! I am officially not overweight any more GrinGrinGrin

twofloorsup · 05/09/2017 14:32

Fantastic Beela well done that's brilliant Smile

PosiePootlePerkins · 05/09/2017 20:42

Wow well done beela that's a great achievement StarStarStar
Hi two hope you're doing OK
Well done Lulu resisting the cake! It will become more and more normal to not have it, although sometimes other people will try and persuade you! I have been known to say 'no thanks I'm not eating treats in the week, can I take some home for the weekend?' Funnily enough no-one has ever questioned it, they probably think I'm a bit strange though sometimesGrin
Hope everyone is having a good week.

ohthegoats · 05/09/2017 21:12

Can I please ask a question about fruit? And packed lunches.

If I want to have a ham salad sandwich with a few tomatoes/slices of cucumber, few crisps and a satsuma, is that an alright meal? Or does the satsuma count as a 'sweet'?

twofloorsup · 05/09/2017 22:32

Hi Posie yes I'm good thanks hope you are too
@ohthegoats as long as it fits on your plate it's absolutely fine. Fruit is not banned on No S Smile

DoNotBringLulu · 06/09/2017 08:51

I have just given myself a green highlighter mark on the calendar for yesterday Smile every day feels like a success, I like this plan.

beela what a great feeling to be in a normal BMI well done. My BMI is 30 something, I think about a stone to lose before I am classed as overweight and not obese.

As the No S plan is a slower burn with weight loss, which is more than OK with me - on slimming world I would lose weight then gain it - how often does everyone weigh themselves on it? I am thinking maybe once per month.

beela · 06/09/2017 09:26

Thanks guys. Now I need to stay in the healthy range so will carry on working on it.

Lulu well done on the green highlighting! I think I need to start doing that. Re. weigh ins, it varies for me but maybe every couple of weeks?

twofloorsup · 06/09/2017 12:57

I usually weigh in when someone on here says they have (competitive much)Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 06/09/2017 22:16

I am actually a daily weigher, I find it makes me less stressed about it as I don't have any nasty surprises and can just keep an eye on it. Kind of takes away the power of the scales if that makes any sense. Works for me, but I appreciate it wouldn't work for everyone.

AristonAndOn · 07/09/2017 08:34

Hello everyone, I'm so pleased to see you all still here. 👋🏼 I've in a bad place diet wise, emotional wise, and have really hidden away, but today I've felt brave enough to peek in. I know it seems silly saying brave, but I don't feel like I can do this, I don't know how I ever did it, my binge eating has been dreadfully out of control, weight back on, embarrassed on the school run, so it took a lot to look back in. I know I can do it as I have before. Why do I repeatedly follow the same pattern? I have counselling starting next week. Anyway, this is a very self indulgent post and sorry about that!
I'm so pleased you are all doing fantastically and I hope that I can get back to NoS as I did really feel much better.

PosiePootlePerkins · 07/09/2017 16:26

Ariston hello! How lovely to see your postSmile You have popped into my thoughts a few times, I have been wondering how things have been for you. Sorry to hear its been a real struggle, I think the counselling sounds like an excellent idea. If and when you are ready to try this again, we are all here to support you. And yes, I do think you are brave to post again, so much easier to keep away.
