Anyone doing one at the moment?

I've started exante this morning. Last year I lost 3 stone with Cambridge but Exante is loads cheaper. No meeting though so I need moral support if any one can give it!

Starting weight 249.2lb. Awful I know so no need to tell me.

17 11 this morning. Would have liked to have gone down again, but hey - didn't gin, and I am still the right side of 18! Wibby, I got used to it after the first week . Its my stupidity that keeps me straying. I will be virtuous all day and keep on 800 cals and not have any hunger, then wolf down a bag of peanuts that are 1000 calories. Its crazy, when its not out of hunger. Stuck to the plan yesterday, and doing all right today. In Superdrug you can buy bags of lighterlife snacks, they do dried strawberry and apple pieces and they are 29 calories a bag. They may keep you going for a little bit!

Buxtonstill · 23/08/2017 12:40

Pinkie, it will be a lot easier once the kids are back at school! Have a good day everybody!

NotInMyBackYard1 · 23/08/2017 12:45

Has anyone tried a VLCD when they are a lower weight? I'm struggling with an injury which means I can't exercise (which is how I normally keep my weight in check) and if course I'm now bored and at home and the kitchen cupboards are calling. So I'm flabby and feel I've lost all tone and just eating crap. I'm 11 stone 7 and rapidly going up, so wondered if this would work for me.

Pinkiepromisex · 23/08/2017 17:59

Hi Notin, I think it will work for anyone - give it a go and see what you think. I am not far from your weight at the minute and it works for me!

NotInMyBackYard1 · 23/08/2017 18:14

That's good to hear pinkie what do you follow and how many calories a day? I think it will be a shock to the system but probably just what I need to get me back on track.

Pinkiepromisex · 23/08/2017 18:17

I used to follow the Cambridge 3 products and a 200 calorie meal but now I buy the bars from Asda - much cheaper! Try and have a bar and a meal and aim for 800 calories a day. The shakes weren't for me but they are popular.

FruitCider · 23/08/2017 18:23

Which bars from asda are these? I'm
fed up of exante, the carbs are too high!

Pinkiepromisex · 23/08/2017 18:47

Fruit - they are Asda own brand meal replacement bars. The white chocolate and raspberry are my favourite. £4 for a box of 4.

FruitCider · 23/08/2017 19:15

I got excited then, but then I saw the carb content Shock

Pinkiepromisex · 23/08/2017 20:11

Yes, just checked. On the ones I looked at 24 grams per Asda bar compared to 21 grams per exante.
I don't really look at the carbs so not sure what to suggest.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 23/08/2017 21:56

Buxton
Have you thought of getting some small snack bags and putting a weighed amount of nuts in there eg 30g of peanuts. That way if you are really struggling you can have some without the temptation of a big packet.

Buxtonstill · 24/08/2017 08:12

17:9 !!! Lowest I have been for at least 10 years; before I gave up smoking. That's a good idea Chaz! I really need not to buy them at all! I have really been strict the last couple of days. Just a couple of shakes and a huge salad at night with some protein, chicken, fish etc. Hope everybody is doing okay! Wish I had an ASDA near me, those bars sound perfect. I do like Superdrug's lighter life range though. They do soy chips in salt and vinegar flavour and have a lot of fibre in which is always a good thing! Have a good day everybody and remember to drink lots of water Smile

Good morning everyone!

So my scales with a shiny new battery told me today I weigh 176.8. I’m delighted. Thrilled!

Started at 189..........I will never be there again. No matter what plan I follow, I’m not going back there. My face looked so puffy and round! And the rest of me was not so great either.

To anyone thinking of following a plan like Lighter Life, all I can say is that it works but for me I’m starving so I’m not sure how sustainable it would be in the long term.

I have a copy of Michael Mosely (sp?) Blood Sugar Diet which is 800 cals every day made up of Medeterranean (sp?) style food....basically no processed carbs at all, higher protein and fat. There is a thread on Mumsnet about it too and I think the results are good – again it’s a tough one but I think when you get on the scales and see the pounds dropping off, you can stay motivated.

I might be eating my words after going to this wedding on Saturday and again next Friday but I hope I can jump back on the wagon. I’ve failed before. I hope my thinking is changing a little bit. Hunger is hunger......it’s not going to kill me! But it is hard.

I’m rambling again!

I’m going to go and swap some of my food packs – I’ve been having shakes and bars. I feel I want something savoury now. Seemingly the soups are quite nice. I know I wouldn’t like the ‘meal’ type packs....powdered chicken curry does not appeal to me at all!

Hi to Fruitcider, Notinmybackyard and ChazsBrilliantAttitude!

17:9 Buxton....wow! Congrats....you must feel great. Keep going. And well done for staying off cigs.....I'm back on them.....Grrrr

Have a great day all....

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/08/2017 10:34

Good progress everyone.

Readytomakechanges · 24/08/2017 18:57

Hello,
I'm on day 12 of Exante total solution (as is DH) and hoping to join that thread for some support.
I've lost 11lbs so far and gone from the obese bracket to overweight.
I've done well on Slimming World before, but when shopping for food, the temptation is too much so always end up slipping into old habits. Hoping I can stay on track with a VLCD.
I thought I wouldn't be feeling hungry by this point, but still am. Is this normal?

Buxtonstill · 24/08/2017 20:43

Wibby ,I have a couple of dos this weekend too, and have good intentions, but if I do stray I going to try and let it be that day only. I am going on holiday in Nov and really would like to lose another 1.5 stone by then, to make it a round 5 stones! Ready, when I get hungry, I paint my nails. It's harder to snack with wet nails! 11lb is a fab loss, about 1 dress size down?

Readytomakechanges · 24/08/2017 20:52

I've not actually noticed a change in size yet. Think most of it's been water weight so far.
I'm definately liking not having to plan and cook meals in the evening.

Wibby · 25/08/2017 09:07

Hi everyone and Happy Friday!

It's great to have a few people to chat to on here.

I weighed in this morning at 176 so 0.8 down from yesterday and 13 pounds lost overall. (15 – 20 pounds more to dream goal)

I left the house this morning without my food packs and had to turn back to get them! I only live a 5 minute drive from work so it wasn’t a big deal.

Yesterday, day 8, was probably my best day on Lighter Life. I had three of the bars and one vegetable soup. The shakes are fine but the toffee bar is really lovely and takes some chewing so I really enjoyed the 3 I had.

Today I’m having two bars, one shake and a vegetable soup.

So tomorrow we are off to a wedding. I will have to eat something before we go. I always find that when I arrive in the hotel after the church without eating and have a few drinks, they go straight to my head. So I think I will eat a healthy carb/protein meal at 1pm and then the wedding meal will be served about 6 - 7pm.

I will probably be hanging on Sunday but I’m allowing myself that day as another ‘rest day’ and then come Monday morning I’ll be back on the plan. I’m not looking forward to it but I’ve a red dress to wear to another wedding on the Friday and it is tight so that will keep me focused.

I love weddings but they are an expensive day out! Two in one week is financial disaster!

Welcome Ready, you’ve done really well. Keep going! Do you have much to lose to get to your goal weight?

Have a great weekend everyone. I’ll be back on here on Monday morning (a few pounds heavier no doubt).

Wibby

Buxtonstill · 25/08/2017 15:06

17 :8.6. Yeah, I'll live with that! Please tell me I'm not the only person who sometimes (always) jumps on the scales if I get up for a wee in the middle of the night? It's amazing, I lose 3-4 lb overnight. But I do drink about 3 litres of water a day.
Don't know what you drink when you're socialising Wibby, but here's a tip: I drink Vodka and soda with a squeeze of one of those mini squash bottles I keep in my handbag. In most places, the only low cal mixer they do is Diet Coke and I'm not too fond of that, plus if it's out of a gun mixer you can't rely on the bartender to press the diet button. Many times my blood sugar has soared after a vodka and 'diet' Coke. Dreadful really as some people could be seriously affected by it. I'm diabetic but can compensate quickly if I realise. Kids and the elderly may not be quite as aware.
Anyway, I digress! Hope everybody has a great day and weekend and manages to enjoy, and be as healthy as you can. Remember if you go wrong, tommorow is a new day.

Readytomakechanges · 25/08/2017 19:45

Thanks Wibby.

Have a great time at the wedding.

My starting weight was 13stone and I'm 5ft 4. Need to get to 10stone 5 to be within the healthy weight bracket, but would love to get to just under 10 to give me some 'wriggle room', so 3stone in total to loose.

That's a great tip for drinks Buxton, think I'll be using that tip eventually.

Does everyone manage to concentrate at work or on sorting DCs out during the day without their mind getting distracted by the thought of food? At work, people are constantly eating chocs and sweets!

Buxtonstill · 25/08/2017 22:01

Ready, I work in a customer facing job so can only eat when there are no customers around. Saying that I used to manage to eat a couple of packets of crisps and also sweets a day, as people often bought us boxes of chocolates. I have just got out of the habit now I think. It's harder when I am off, as I have weird shifts and work for 6 days then 5 off then on for 4 then off for 2 and other combinations. Having 2/3 weekdays off is hard as everything is accessible. That's when I try and paint my nails!

LowCarbHeaven · 26/08/2017 08:57

I am on day 9 of Slim and save. Had a small slip up yesterday 4 haribos and 2 of my sons pizza crusts 😔. Which seems so silly today as sticking to it 100% the fest of the time. I have lost 6lbs so far, but 1 stone 3 overall as I was low carbing for 3 weeks prior. I have 8 stone to lose though, which is terrifying!! It is the water allowance I find hard, SnS tells me 4 litres a day on the calculator think, i am managing about 2.5 and that is really trying! Does anyone else struggle with that?

Buxtonstill · 26/08/2017 10:47

Low carb - forget about the haribos. Today is a new day! Don't look at your loss a the big picture. Separate it into small steps- into a new stone zone, or new dress size fitting. I have 8-9 stone to lose but never think of it like that. I set little goals.

Buxtonstill · 26/08/2017 10:50

17 8 so down just under half a pound. Have a party today and tommorow so will do my best, but know I will stray. Monday morning I am straight back on it! Good luck everybody. Drink loads of water. Lowcarb, I found that quite hard to start with but fill a 2 lite bottle and drink that, plus all the green teas!

Pinkiepromisex · 27/08/2017 18:50

Well done - some really good results on here lately. Wedding yesterday but a pound down this morning s pleased with that. Into ice lollies at the moment, some of the mini ones are under 60 calories and feel like a real treat as well as taking a little while to eat. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.
