Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

notanurse tis a weird feeling yes? The backs of my thighs and bum are currently soft and squidgy. I think its weird if your fat was solid. Or maybe that's me. Either way....hurray for your soft fat Grin

MirabelleTree · 26/05/2017 02:12

Squishy fat does feel strange doesn't it! I am through op and the surgeon said it was a massive stone, the biggest he'd seen. Think he had quite a battle to get it out but did manage keyhole. Impressed on me important to continue losing weight .I said I totally get it and will. He said he thinks I will but shame I hadn't lost it to make op easier which did make me feel a bit shit at the time but I'm just so relieved it is out.

ZestyDragon · 26/05/2017 07:06

That wasn't particularly helpful of him 😒 But on the other hand it's all over and you had keyhole!!

When do you go home? As it's key hole make sure you have plenty of peppermint tea. It will really help reduce the trapped wind over the coming days.

swlondonnanny · 26/05/2017 07:33

Mirabelle glad all went well. If it was really impossible to do the surgery because of your weigh the wouldn't do it... please don't think about what the surgeon said and just concentrate on getting better. Don't push yourself into diet/exercise until you are really ready... oh and take any painkillers available

MirabelleTree · 26/05/2017 08:28

I think he'd had a hard time getting it out and was knackered and I am very glad he stuck with it and managed and keyhole, Also I have a feeling he sees people who lose weight for surgery then pile it back on as they find they can revert to a fatty diet. Tried a peppermint capsule last night and Nearly threw up unfortunately.

I feel surprisingly not too bad at the moment but I do intend to be a model patient and when I feel better will ease back in carefully. Everyone has been lovely and I have new shower gel plus magazines so intend on a restful 2 weeks. DH has time off plus it's conveniently half term. I shall have to do weight loss by proxy through you lot for now ! Hope it's generally going well on that front for you all.

swlondonnanny · 26/05/2017 08:28

Week 11 for me, current weight 119kg ( -3kg). Was due to a woosh as was very little for 2 weeks before...
Off to Greece in 2 weeks time, would be lovely to get down to 115 (wishful thinking me thinks)

BreakingSad · 26/05/2017 09:15

So glad it went well Mirabelle and sounds like you're being well looked after. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Wow Swlondonnanny that was some whoosh! Well done Zesty , the halfway mark in sight now. Hope you had a good night Notanurse and fingers crossed for a pound today. Congratulations on your squishy fat, that has made me Grin.

irishe · 27/05/2017 10:48

Morning all. Weighed in this morning.

Start 277lbs
Loss this week 2lbs (week4)
Current 264
Total loss 13lbs

Welcome to our new people and re joiners! Great to see so many motivated losers (in the nicest way!)

I really wanted to clear my first stone this week but despite sticking to calories it didn't happen. I even took a leafy green salad to a barbecue last night, still the sacrifice was not enough!

Never mind, it will happen next week. Really looking forward to being able to say, I have lost my first stone. 1lb to go for that first mini goal.

mirabelle glad to hear you are gallbladder free, I am really hoping your recovery goes smoothly and quickly. Ignore what the surgeon said, what a twattish and totally lacking in empathy and compassion thing to say to a patient post surgery. You are a star, don't let anyone pull you down.

To all you achey losers, ahem! I am with you, have loads of pain, particularly from arthritis in knees. Hoping once I reduce in size a bit, to be able to start riding my bike again, it is the only exercise that has ever significantly lessened my knee pain without exacerbating it.

Onwards and downwards, here's to another week of great losses.

Well done everyone, I'm also another 1lb down.

To lose 113
Lost this week 1
Lost to date 41

MirabelleTree · 27/05/2017 12:08

Well done Irishe, that is a cracking loss for 4 weeks and that stone will be there next week. I like the idea of being a motivated loserGrin i'm over my annoyance at the surgeon. I guess they see a lot of people who do pile it back on and it must get fustrating. I am so not going to be one though, none of us will be.

Well done BreakingSad and NotaNurse. The lost to date figures are stacking up nicely. Sounds a bit cheesy but I feel really proud of us all.

ChestyNut · 27/05/2017 17:37

Yay for gallbladder freeness Mirabelle
How are you feeling?

Phone won't let me scroll back but whoever asked about pain relief for my back. I take ibuprofen and paracetamol at work.
Got some codeine from GP and instructions to ring the physiotherapist.

Hopefully they can help. I have such bad posture, tend to stand belly and boobs stuck out as it's all heavy Grin

How's everyone one managing the hunger, I've been sooooo hungry past few days to the point of feeling sick and dizzy ?

MirabelleTree · 27/05/2017 17:43

I feel good thanks ChestyNut. Sorry to hear you're feeling so hungry. Is AF due at all? Are you eating a decent amount of protein, that can help. How many calories are yin eating and how much exercise ? I find keeping anything with sugar in to mealtimes helps avoid a blood sugar spike and I have half an eye on foods with lower GI. Sorry to ask so many questions, just trying to get an idea of where you're at.

MsHeffalump · 27/05/2017 17:49

Sick and dizzy may be partly to do with the ridiculous heat? I've not been feeling great with it. Not had much appetite with it either, actually. Which is good because the cupboard is nearly bare but it's far too hot to go to the shops!

MirabelleTree · 27/05/2017 18:11

I forgot about the heat most of you have been battling as I've been locked away and today is cooler! Keeping hydrated is half the battle in the heat I think plus eating little and often can help.

ChestyNut · 27/05/2017 18:19

Think I averaged about 1200 on a week day?

I probably need more protein during the day as eat a lot of fruit.

heffalump maybe it's that "let me stick my face in the fridge right now or I'll faint" feeling Grin

MirabelleTree · 27/05/2017 18:46

1200 is quite low, especially if you're exercising on that. Protein should help a bit, I have some for a mid morning snack and it seems to help level out the hunger a bit and maybe swap a little bit of the fruit for veg to keep blood sugar a bit more stable. But it is probably the heat !

ChestyNut · 27/05/2017 18:47

Not really exercising apart from walking because of my back.

Are you home from hospital?

WorshipTheGourd · 27/05/2017 19:03

can I join?

SW 19.12 (last Oct)
Current W: 17.4
Goal W: 9.12

I would appreciate any advice about how to avoid loose skin.

I am about to join a gym but as I have slipped discs and nerve probs in legs and feet I am a bit worried about it / what equipment I can use. it's a community gym and there is no one to ask.

I am thinking the cross trainer / rowing machine?

I cant do any impact stuff but I do want to work on my core muscles most of all?

MirabelleTree · 27/05/2017 19:44

Depending how many steps you do it can increase the calories you burn really significantly. Looking back at my week yesterday was about 1700 calories burned versus nearly 3000 on Wednesday (19223 steps versus 558 step Steps!) .i think my Fitbit is fairly accurate as my weight loss corresponds to what it says generally. Amazingly I was home 4 hrs 15 mins after I went down to theatre on Thursday evening. I've been for a gentle stroll today. So relieved it is out and nowhere near as bad as I was expecting as yet.

Welcome WorshiptheGourd , great loss so far. I think loose skin is something we'll all have to suck up to some extent but losing weight at a steady pace probably helps. Zesty and I have both lost 58lbs and I think we're both experiencing a bit on inner thighs. My stomach skin goes a bit crepey every so often but then readjusts. Someone has suggested dry brushing too. I think the gym will help but haven't been since about 1990 so can't really advise I'm afraid but others go to the gym so hopefully can. Have you had any squishy fat yet? It's a very glamorous thread this one Grin
