Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Just had to google that dish BlackAmericano and realised I've made that but with pork fillets, I do have a wonderful Italian mother in law who's a great cook Grin

PostNotinHaste hope you're feeling better soon

Notractors hope the cat allowed you to get on with things

Notanurse I still have f^*k it days but they are a lot fewer, but you're right it's scary how easy it is to slip back to bad habits.

Hercy · 11/09/2017 07:35

Morning all, weight in day for me....
This weeks loss: 6lbs
Start weight: 275lbs
Week 2 weight: 269lbs

Need a good week this week as I'm off to Norfolk on Sunday for a week and it will involve a lot of walking on beaches with the dog. So every pound I get off will make it that bit easier on my poor knee!

Notanurse, sorry the personal shopper's initial choices weren't great. If you let me know your height, size, hair colour, eye colour and any particular requirements e.g. I hate my upper arms so they must always be covered! I'd be pleased to look for some outfits for you.

Swnanny, glad you had a good time in Spain! Are you all sorted for the black tie?

Hercy · 11/09/2017 07:45

I also meant to say well done to all the losers and sts-ers (not easy when you've already lost weight)

No tractors, I feel like I waste my evenings too. I love going to bed early with a book or Netflix! I did used to go to the gym a lot and hoping to get back into that after holiday. Is that an option for you? Or exercise DVD? Or something a bit more low key... film night or pamper night (bath, nails, face mask etc)???

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 11/09/2017 19:59

Drooling over the thought of saltimbocca - I haven't had that in years!

I'm ploughing on with arranging my evening plans - the DCs are still a bit young for me to leave them (although on evenings when exDH has them, that might be an option), but we can still go for a walk together.

I'm trying to arrange one night where I go to bed early and read, one where I work on a night course I'm doing, one where I do some crafty stuff (and listen to podcasts), one where I do some admin, and two where I exercise. Tonight is an admin night - so I'm doing dull things like my budgets and contemplating some laundry. Fun times....!

Hope you're all KOKO-ing Smile

Wow notractors you're much more productive/organised about evenings than I am - I felt proud of myself for painting my toenails last night, ha!

I need to be organised tonight though.... I am (braces self) going to aquafit for the first time in months! Then I need to have a tidy round at home (cleaner comes Wednesdays), wash/straighten my hair (meeting tomorrow morning) and try and get an early night so I can give the dog his usual walk before said meeting.

Hercy · 12/09/2017 10:50

Forgot to mention, I've discovered a new app "Active 10" which tells you how many minutes of brisk walking (and non-brisk walking) you do a day. I think the threshold for 'brisk' is quite low, but I've found it a good motivator for picking up my pace!

Afternoon all.

Feeling tired today and struggling to find the motivation to be productive at work, which is a shame, as I have a lot to do! Can't wait to get to bed with my book tonight, just about 6 hours to get through first!

Little bit frustrated as I have been good every day (decent step count, healthy meals, no snacks or booze, even managed aquafit last night) but my weight hasn't budged since Sunday. I know that's just the way is goes sometimes, but given I am 19st+ and not anywhere near TOTM, I would expect a little movement! Hopefully I will get a whoosh soon....

Hope you're all having good days.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/09/2017 20:30

I know that feeling Hercy! I've been for a brisk walk this evening - got utterly drenched, but did some hills and I'm at 16000 steps for today. Now watching Masterchef and counting the minutes until bed (aka the end of Masterchef!). My scales look like they are going to be up on last week, but I'm making good choices this week, so I'm trying not to focus on them. We'll see what happens at the end of the week.

I'm drinking a mug of rhubarb and custard tea - which is essentially rhubarb fruit tea with a bit of vanilla flavouring. I think I might have mentioned it before, can't remember! It's a bit too sweet for my taste, but I think its growing on me Smile

Very out of the loop, will try to catch up soon. Shit week as DD dropped out of college and in her words is currently a full time mothering job and last nights disaster was a bloody boil and mound mouth guard. DS will have to literally grit his teeth on tha one today or he'll be in detention, not great as new school and my resting heart rate has gone up by 7 this week.

Weighed this morning and am using today's figure as scales have a habit of going up on a Saturday.

Lost 3lbs
Total loss to date 78.25lb
To lose 31.75lb

And that just goes to show how weight loss isn't linear as to date this week I've eaten 189 calories more than I've burned. It is what I'm 'owed' from previous 2.weeks when I gained a quarter of a pound and STS for no reason. BMI now 30.1 so next month another 1.5lb I will be overweight which I am very excited about Grin

Hercy · 14/09/2017 16:33

Scales were still sticking this morning, so I've pushed on and am hoping for better result by the weekend.

Will hit 20K steps today, plus aquafit and around 1200 - 1300 calories consumed.

Maybe I'm like postinhaste and this week's work will be paid back next week or the week after, just have to KOKO.

Great milestone to aim for postinhaste, I cannot wait to be merely overweight :) (long way off yet mind). You are tantalisingly close..... hope you smash it at your next weigh in.

ChestyNut · 14/09/2017 17:20

Checking in, glad to see you're all here.

Gosh I feel rubbish, exhausted and bit fluey, got oral thrush due to inhalers for the millionth time so feeling grumpy

Merely overweight seems so far away for me ATM! Anyway KOKO Flowers

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/09/2017 21:49

Oral thrush sounds nasty Chesty I hope that goes soon.

Thanks for the recommendation for the Active 10 app, do you think it will work in my handbag or does it have to be in a pocket? Presumably it won't be recording all map movement as activity, because I do two school runs in different directions so there would be a lot of movement.

Hercy · 15/09/2017 06:58

That does sound horrible chesty I hope you get to take it easy and feel better soon.

black I carry my phone in my handbag, pocket or hand and it seems to pick up all movement regardless. I've found it records all movement and breaks it down into brisk (blue) and non brisk walking (yellow) blocks per hour and then gives a summary of total brisk and total minutes per day. It doesn't seem to have a very high threshold for what's counted as brisk, but I've found it a good motivator for picking up my pace. Well worth giving it a try anyway - it's free!

BreakingSad · 15/09/2017 12:40

PostNotinHaste for you Flowers** hope you're having a better end to the week. A huge well done for having overweight BMI within reach, you've done so well, I'm not surprised you're excited.

Hope you feel better soon Chesty

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself and haven't made the best food choices this week. I'm feeling a bit abandoned, Dd gone back to uni, Dsis gone back home in another country and my Dm about to visit her. I realise when they've gone, how much they mean to me. Sorry to offload on here, just needed an outlet that was food relatedBlush

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/09/2017 19:35

Does loneliness increase your hunger Breaking? I find that I eat much less when the family are not around as I'm simply not going into the kitchen very much. Plus family are the source of most of my stress, and I'm definitely a stress eater. Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/09/2017 20:20

Do you want to hear a funny conversation from earlier this week?

H to me: I think that low-carb thing might be making you loose weight.
Me (in my head): No shit Sherlock, I've lost 10% of my body weight.
Me (out loud): I hadn't noticed, maybe you're right. My trousers are a bit loose, I might need to buy some new clothes.

Grin
NoTractorsAtTheTable · 15/09/2017 20:31

Grin Grin I don't think I'd have managed to have been so cool!

I'm so glad it's Friday - what a week! I've just poured a glass of Wine and waiting for Masterchef to start living vicariously The slow cooker is blipping away with a random assortment of veg from the fridge, chicken, chopped tomatoes and a shovel of various spices - feels very virtuous, and should be plenty for the next few meals for all of us Smile

Have a good weekend all!

Thanks for the sympathy. Feel a bit better but my resting heart rate is now 8 higher so guess I am still rather stressed. Hugely relieved it's the weekend. Not running till Monday to rest my shin bit want to walk as last few weekends have been very inactive. DS has friends round for birthday but they are at age where we can lob pizza at them and hide.

Well done NotaNurse, Another half a stone and you're at the half way mark. I remember you being at the quarter mark. Will be great to start next year knowing how much is behind you (figuratively, not literally as a lot less now!)

BlackAmericano that conversation is making me Grin You're doing so well.

BreakimgSad Flowers I think it's really good you can recognise it, I have a friend who said she'd do a weekly weigh in with me. She isn't any lighter than she was last November, tried to have a good week last week and ate more crap than usual. I think she is struggling with 2 of her DC leaving home the same time a year ago combined with the fact her Dad died a few years ago and her Mum has come been through ill health with not a great prognosis. Could be wrong but I think she hasn't realised so can't deal with it and it's blocking her deal with her weight. By acknowledging it this week hopefully it will be easier to move on.

Chesty Flowers Hope you feel better very soon.

Hercy any movement on the scales ? Have you been measuring yourself? Sometimes I find inches have gone when the scales stick.

@ZestyDragon I hope you're ok and have been thinking of you.

Morning everyone Smile
Weigh in today at 105kg, loss (week 27) -1.8kgs
Started mid march at 138.5 kg, 6 months ago
Total loss 33.5 kg (73.8lbs). BMI went down from 43 to 32.4.
Will try to get under BMI 30 (still plenty of weight to loose to get there as I am 5'11) and just maintain for a while.
The black tie event got cancelled so am very pleased that I don't have to look for a dress Grin
