Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Week 9
Starting weight 100kg
current weight 90.4kg
this week's loss 0.6kg

Yay to being a loser again.

Chesty, I don't have a waist so I tend to wear very unfitted things. Mostly quite sheer tops that fall from the shoulders. And I wear a snug fitting cotton tank top underneath. I'm finding that the combo of the two is very forgiving to quite large weight changes. As I get thinner my tops just look a bit floatier, whereas if they had things like bust darts they would more obviously look too big. Also, leggings and jeggings will still be available closer to your holiday so you could buy them to fit then. Bring a load of safety pins with you and then you can put a tuck into things like skirt waistbands.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 25/08/2017 10:42

Are you going somewhere hot or cold Chesty? If hot something like this has an elastic waistband which would work well, and would be reasonably cool and wafty.

ChestyNut · 25/08/2017 14:11

I'm going to Florida so hot hopefully!
Needs to be suitable for Long days walking in the parks.

I've bought some chub rub pants to wear under dresses, just hoping they work!

I usually wear dresses as feel more covered but fancy some shorts but don't know if I'll look a heffalump Confused

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 25/08/2017 20:27

Chesty I've just got some fab palazzo trousers, with a split up the side - so they waft about when walking, and look like normal floaty trousers when still. I like them better than most maxi-type skirts, as I don't get that sort of 'flat' expanse of fabric at the front, across my knees and thighs that can make you look bigger than you are.

I've decided my now-shrunk pretty dress is going to be a form of 'goal' dress - I reckon it's now a couple of sizes smaller than it was (really must improve my laundry skills Blush) so when I can fit into it, that will make me happy...and then I have an 'ultimate ambition' dress that I want to get back into Wink.

Happy Friday all, here's to the weekend Smile

My family are celebrating the tumble dryer being broken, DD co,planning her tops were becoming crop tops. What about linen trousers type things ? Asda had some which we're ok and don't look too bad if you lose weight.

Loss this week- 12 oz on
Total lost - 36lbs 8oz
To lose- 63lbs 8oz

Exactly 4 weeks since my last gain and app on phone tells me it's ovulation time.
Haven't eaten anything massively different so shall presume it's water.

swlondon I do wear lots of leggings and dress/long tunics.
I don't wear trousers as feel like a fat man Hmm

Ordered some tops but they all looked terrible Sad

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/08/2017 14:06

I tried this dress on the other day Chesty: www.yoursclothing.co.uk/black-green-palm-print-maxi-dress-with-mesh-yoke-p

It wasn't quite formal enough for what I need it for, but I reckon you could wear it just about anywhere else. I think you could wear it round the parks, and out to dinner - would also fold up nicely for easy packing (which is what I live for!) Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/08/2017 14:21

Ooooh, and would add, if your tops look terrible, do you maybe need a new bra? My chest needs some sizeable scaffolding, but find it really tricky finding something that fits, doesn't give me a weird shape, and holds them where they need to be. I'm looking forward to the day where I can tuck them neatly into my socks and be done with it... Grin

tractors I'm sure my sizeable bazookas are part of the problem, they make me look bigger I think Hmm

swlondonnanny · 28/08/2017 13:33

Hello, hope everyone is having a good bank holiday weekend.
I did the dreaded weigh in today instead of Friday. Current weight 108kg, loss (weeks 23 and 24) -0.6kg
I am having a bit of difficult time with this weight loss recently. Seem to be going up and down the same kg for weeks now
Well, I guess I will just KOKO and see what happens

ChestyNut · 28/08/2017 18:11

Are you eating more swlondon or just plateaud?

Can I moan?

Get comfy....

I'm really struggling swinging between wanting to starve self and eat all the food in all the world.
I'm trying really hard to ignore it and eat normally.
It's the anniversary of my DF death this week and I have rising panic about holiday because I'm still FAT Sad

I know food won't solve the issues/feelings but god it's hard!

Chesty sorry that you are going through difficult time. Anniversaries of loved one's death are horrible. Don't panic about the holidays, please. Know easier to say than do. You lost plenty of weight already! And you still have a couple of months till you go to lose more. It will be fun once you get there Smile
Also stress and losing weight don't go well together.
My weight loss difficulties are a combination of things. Really HAVE to stop dairy again as it clearly doesn't agree with me. Also going through loads of stress which combined with me not sleeping properly and all the random inbetweenperiods bleeds and total exhaustion are messing everything up. I lost similar amount of weight 2 years ago and ended up with shingles and afterwards put all the weight on again. Do not want to go down that route ever again. So trying to relax more and even started acupuncture again (after 3 years) and it is helping. I have thyroid issues so go through periods of real tiredness so this is not new for me. Just need to KOKO I suppose. Do more Paleo than just low carb/high fat. Not overdo it with exercise /walking etc. Sorry about mememe post

MirabelleTree · 29/08/2017 11:11

Flowers Chesty. The whole food and emotions issue is really hard and it will take us all a long long time to get there and possibly the reality is some of us may never have a completely healthy way of managing it but I think that is the key, managing it - in which ever way you deal.

I've found what works for me is having a day or two eating what I want up to maintenance calories if needs be so I have controlled my intake even though I recognise it is not optimal for healthy eating. I'm perimenopausal and I know I have potentially some hormonal difficult times ahead so I need to be able to ride them .

As for the holiday I get what you are saying but you are over a third of the way there now. This is enough to feel quite a difference in space in plane seat etc and the next chunk of weight loss is when you and others are really going to notice the difference. As you get smaller each half stone lost is proptionally a greater percentage of your body weight so really does show more. This time next year you will look so different to what you did at the beginning and what you look like now.

It is such a long haul and we are all going to get peaks and troughs with this and times when we stall, we really need to focus on the bigger picture and keep going which is easy to say and hard to do. But since we started we have all lost weight and made a difference to our health and I think we need to stop for a moment and think about where we are at and what we have achieved so far which is over five hundred pounds between us.

SWLondonnanny I am sorry you are struggling Flowers Really positive though that you recognise this as a danger point effectively and are determined to keep going. You have lost a lot in a fairly short space of time and I do wonder sometimes whether our bodies say enough and need a period to adjust for a bit. Mine went weird around June and July but seems to be playing ball again now I am being less aggressive with my calorie deficit. I think you are very sensible focusing on managing your stress levels and am firmly of the belief that staying about the same weight is just as much of an achievement as losing it.

swlondonnanny · 30/08/2017 06:29

Mirabelle thank you
Those are the words of wisdom. Relax and KOKO it shall be

swlondonnanny · 30/08/2017 07:13

Random question - what do people wear to black tie event? Have never been to one, have a few dresses which I like /fit etc but they are all knee length (or shorter). That will not do, will it?

Another one here that can't add to the sage words of Mirabelle Flowers to all of you.

Swlondon - I think it really does need to be full length for black tie. I find it's really hard to not look like a bridesmaid! I have my eye on this for when I have an appropriate occasion: Asos bardot maxi dress

Hope everyone else is kicking on - I had a major bloat and weepy session earlier in the week. Turns out it was a ninja period (they are so irregular, I can't predict them at all) - which is just perfect timing as I'm off on a work trip tomorrow, and need to be firing on all cylinders...not exhausted and grumpy Blush. In saying that, getting packed and getting some work done and off MN would be a good start... Wink. On a more related subject, I do feel that I'm better able to manage my intake when I go away now - everyone around me makes the most of the free lunches and buffet breakfasts, but there's really no need for it, and I think my brain (and belly) is starting to realise that!

Hope Chesty and SWlondonnanny are having an easier time. I think sometimes you just have to focus on things that will make you feel happy, seeing friends, a nice walk, a bit of declutter etc etc and forget about food, dieting, losing weight for a while. You're fighting a bloody hard battle in trying to lose weight if your head isn't in the right place/you're not feeling positive. So my advice would be focus on that and getting the old endorphins going with a bit of exercise, and ironically, losing weight will probably be a side effect.

SWlondonnanny - it depends what sort of black tie event. If a formal, business setting then it should be a long dress. But a midi / knee length dress is acceptable otherwise, as long as it's elegant. Doesn't need to be black either, but I would probably steer away from bold colours/florals.

Notanurse, I went a bit mad in the end - so mad I ordered two of the same top in the same size - duh. I got a few tops, shirts, some jeans, leggings, jumpers and a blazer. Liked this top so much I got it in both colours and been looking for a blazer like this for ages....

Have tried to post several times this last week, only for the fibromyalgia to get in the way of me finishing any of them. Flare-ups suck. Flowers to everyone, will still be here somewhere but not able to catch up til I'm feeling a bit better.
