Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Hello! I'm new - am I ok to join in?

GrumpyInsomniac · 17/08/2017 19:26

Welcome! They let me in... Grin

MotherOfSuburbia · 17/08/2017 19:50

Hello all!
I have about 100lb to lose. Had a bit of a diabetes scare so have been feeling motivated at last to do something about it all. No real excuse for my weight - just massively overeating and an unhealthy relationship with food.
Started a week last Saturday - using MFP (being honest!) and cutting out all sweet stuff and a lot of carbs. So far, so good...

Starting weight: 17st 8lb
Current weight: 16st 12lb (week 2)
Loss so far - 10lb

Thanks for having me!

GrumpyInsomniac · 18/08/2017 09:55

That's a fantastic start :)

I've given myself until the end of the weekend to come up with a plan and start putting it in place. Which means we are going to be having a mad defrosting session as I need to clear freezer space for some healthy batch cooking.

I have always been the type to snag a reduced bargain and shove it in the freezer if I'm not using it that night. Except I've done steadily less cooking and have a number of such bargains risking freezer burn if I don't get my arse in gear and do something with them.

It gets complicated by my running a food business that relies upon me creating delicious recipes. And we're supposed to be heading into a period of recipe development, which usually has me cooking and tasting my way through all kinds of wonderful things. This is going to need quite some willpower.

How's everyone else getting on?

MirabelleTree · 18/08/2017 10:07

Back tomorrow but a quick welcome to Grumpy and Mother

BreakingSad · 18/08/2017 13:42

Hello and welcome GrumpyInsomniac, MotherofSuburbia and roseanya.

I changed MFP to maintenance this week as we've family visiting, so there's been quite a few get togethers involving food. My dsis is visiting the following week, as well as dd going back to uni, so I expect a few more food related events.

But I have managed to get a bit more into a routine, no cycling at the moment but I've upped my steps to 12000 to get me moving.

How do others manage, with a change in routine?

What's the deletion message for?

Is it tea time yet? Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/08/2017 17:26

I expect Ellie12 was trying to 'help' us with magic weight loss tea or something for a very reasonable price of 10 times the price of ordinary tea. 😂

GrumpyInsomniac · 18/08/2017 17:34

Mmm tea. So good with scones. Or madeleines. Or...

BreakingSad · 18/08/2017 17:42

I think you're right BlackAmericano they were deleted on another thread too and someone mentioned about tea Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 18/08/2017 19:56

Ooooh lots of chat, and a scam - how exciting! Grin

I have a real craving for a cream tea now, but I. Shall. Resist!

Had a bit of an enlightening conversation with two friends of mine - one who is a teeny tiny pixie of a person (5ft, size 4/6) and one who is more like my build, and has lost about 4 stone this year. We talked really honestly about our attitudes to food, and awareness of what we're eating and what others are eating. There was a lot of personal insight, which I won't post here, but it was really thought-provoking. I've known them both for years, but I think that is the most open and honest we've ever been with each other.

We have a massive chicken salad for dinner, and I'm going to live vicariously through Celebrity Masterchef, and one glass of red Wine. Happy weekend all Smile

1lb loss (week 40)

Total loss 74.25lb
Total to lose 35.75lb

MirabelleTree · 19/08/2017 06:54

I've increased my calories now as was feeling so tired and realised I wasn't eating enough to sustain the exercise. So this week I have averaged 2100 calories a day and burned off 3211 calories from exercise so the pound I've lost has come pretty much from exercise.

MirabelleTree · 19/08/2017 07:03

Looking at TDEE calculator I've eaten at maintenance for light exercise level and then if you add on 500 calories a day for the pound that comes to just under the daily allowance for heavy exercise. So I guess that means to find maintenance calories for goal I can go slightly under heavy exercise for that weight as long as I stick to current exercise regime.

Well done Notanurse that's fantastic

I've STS but happy with that. I've got myself into a better routine this week and feel better for it.

MirabelleTree · 19/08/2017 15:40

That is brilliant NotaNurse, a huge well done Star

MirabelleTree · 19/08/2017 15:40

Well done BreakingSad, it is hard in the holidays.

ChestyNut · 20/08/2017 09:31

Loss this week- 2lb 8oz
Total lost- 37lb 4 oz
To lose- 62lbs 12oz

Have eaten slightly more this week, extra snacks and had a bigger loss Hmm

Well done nota 4 stone is amazing!

Well done Mirabelle breaking and everyone else Flowers

Now where can I buy this magic weight loss tea? Grin

GrumpyInsomniac · 20/08/2017 11:03

Well done ChestyNut!

I hadn't been going to bother weighing in, but did and was shocked to discover I've lost 2.5kg/5.5lbs.

So I'm actually really happy. I'm sure most of the loss is water, but that's fine. At least it proves it'll shift something.

Lost this week: 5.5lbs
Total lost: 5.5lbs
To go: 94.5lbs

And all I've done differently is to use MFP to keep me honest. Proper dieting doesn't start until later this week.

ChestyNut · 20/08/2017 12:45

That's great Grumpy MFP has probably made you think about food choices more.

13 weeks until my big birthday holiday, am nervous about weight gain while I'm away.

notapizzaeater · 20/08/2017 12:52

Can I join in please - I have 122lb to loose :-)

I'm using Isagenix shakes for 2 meals plus supplies to and then a 600 ish healthy (think joe wickes style with healthy fats) and healthy snacks.

Plus going to a conditioning class with a nasty nasty evil PT twice a week !

I'm on day 6 today so will weigh in properly tomorrow ......

MirabelleTree · 20/08/2017 12:59

Well done Chesty and Grumpy. Great start Grumpy. Chesty* I have given up finding the logic to things like that, though I'm sure there is some and just run with the pleasant feeling seeing the scales go down gives!

Welcome Notapizzaeater , the idea of a nasty evil PT makes me go a bit col, fair play to you Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/08/2017 14:03

Week 8
Starting weight 100kg
current weight 91kg
this week's gain 0.4kg

So I had a bit of a gain (even after doing a really big poo first) but I had a really good time. Mostly I had a good time with my feet up on the sofa watching the rain fall on the lake, so I didn't walk as much as I usually would. My ex au pair's parents visited and they brought loads of lovely Spanish goodies, so my blood glucose went a bit awol for a day. But I have given the rest of the goodies to H to take into the office with him.

That's a fantastic start Grumpy, well done.

Yay, does a little dance for Notanurse reaching 4 stone. Well done Breaking for STS, better than I managed. Grin And well done everyone else for being losers.
