Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Thank you all for birthday wishes Smile
Was actually really good with food and other than a tiny bit of cake (1/3 of slice, sugar and grain free Grin and a scoop of coyo icecream I didn't sin...
Wedding anniversary to get through today hehehe
And the party on Sunday. But planning to have quite a bit of low carb food so should be fine.
Went shopping with DH today and managed to do 11k steps which is quite For me but was impressed with him as hi is still recovering from his hip replacement surgery.
Well done on all the losses this week Smile
notanurse that's exactly what I do as well, get off the bus early and walk for about 30mins on my way to work. + a couple of walks at work as well. If Richmond Park is your 'local park' we must live quite close

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/08/2017 09:15

Glad you had a lovely birthday sw and hope the rest of your activities have been fun too Smile

Well done babies and notanurse! I've dropped my scales so I've not weighed in this week Blush, but feel I've done ok. I'm on a bit of a grooming kick at the moment to make me feel a bit more lady-like (to match my dress!) so off for a walk in a skirt today to get some sun on my neon-white legs Wink.

Betty, like notanurse, I was doing less than 5k a day - I was averaging about 3500 per day. I've increased that to an average of 8.5k by walking back and forth to work - then I just pop in another short walk in the evenings, and I'm at 10k without much effort at all Smile. It's really satisfying seeing the numbers add up, I'd really recommend it. It also helps me think - I get a lot of 'head-admin' sorted out while I'm walking.

Loss this week - 1lb 4oz
Total- 34lbs 12oz
To lose- 65lbs 4oz

tractors good luck on the tanning! I've just noticed how brown my "driving" arm is compared to the rest of me Blush

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/08/2017 10:07

Well done chesty!
Hope your 'driving' arm gets evened out Wink - I won't tan (Celtic skin, I just go red), but a glimpse of daylight will help the skin tone go from 'white-blue' to 'normal peely-wally' Grin. I already have two-tone feet where you can see where I've been wearing loafers to work Blush

Happy Birthday and anniversary Swlondon and welcome Hercy and Lipstickmaven.

I'm impressed with the 30,000 step Notanurse

Have a lovely holiday BlackAmericano

Well done** on the losses.

I've been slacking this week and was surprised I've STS when I weighed in on Saturday (thought I would have gained some more), after last weeks gain, as AF had arrived.

Trying to get into a routine as it goes to pot in the summer holidays.

roseanya · 14/08/2017 21:18

I'd like to join if I can? I would like to lose at least 100lbs - at least Shock my weaknesses are wine, pizza 🍕 and takeaways in general. Sweet tooth not a problem so much but can still hold my own! I do well during the day and then eat most of my calories and more at night snacking in front of the tv! Blush

Stats
Goal loss: 100lbs
Lost so far: 32lbs
Still to lose: 68lbs

I didn't manage to lose much for my wedding which really upset me, I hate the photos so much Sad but we are going back to America in Feb and I would love to be a size 20 by then...that's a good couple of dress sizes...so here we go. Will be great sharing motivation with you lovely ladies.

I will be mainly calorie counting and trying to cut back on the booze and snacks....also use Instagram which is great for this but will be nice to talk too.

Well done everyone who has done so well so far! Star

MirabelleTree · 15/08/2017 11:03

Good news on STS BreakingSad. It is harder in the holidays.

Welcome roseanya and congratulations on your loss so far, you've done a third already Smile

GrumpyInsomniac · 15/08/2017 16:45

I'd like to join you, if I may. I need to lose pretty much exactly 100lbs to reach a sensible goal weight of 11.5 stone for a height of 5'8", but I'd be happy with even a third or half of that weight loss. Hell, at this point I'm just trying to take it a kilo at a time.

I struggle a lot with weight loss due to illness and disability. I have multiple disc prolapse, psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia, so outside of the house I'm a wheelchair user. In good days, I might manage 1500 steps indoors. On bad days, I'm essentially bed-bound beyond trips to the loo.

I've started swimming with a friend once a week, which is exhausting but makes me feel more positive. I'm now trying to work up to a second trip a week, especially since I'm in for a caudal epidural and facet blocks tomorrow, which will relieve me of enough back pain to allow me to exercise more often, fibromyalgia permitting.

It's so hard. Even when I log everything into MFP and it tells me I'm under budget, it often makes no difference. And it just feels so bloody lonely when you're the only one having to watch every last thing you eat :(

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 15/08/2017 16:58

Welcome roseanya! Good to have more people on board Smile

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 17/08/2017 14:57

If by KOKOing you mean having bread and butter pudding, then I've been doing that. 😉 I did decide beforehand that I would have it once if it was on the menu, and I did. I had veg soup and some of DD's sirloin steak beforehand so my 2 hour blood glucose just squeaked in as acceptable.

Unfortunately my blood glucose monitor has stopped working, I'm going to see if I can get a new battery for it just in case that's the issue. If that doesn't work I'll stick to eating things that I've had before that I know are fine.

I'm actually finding this week to be quite easy. Usually a change in circumstances derails a diet for me, but the longer I low-carb the easier it seems to get. I'm probably having more calories while away, for instance if I was cooking steak at home I wouldn't serve it with garlic butter, but I'm not counting calories so it doesn't matter. (I'll see in a few days if the scales agree that the extra calories don't matter 😂)

Welcome to the newbies, I can't scroll up so can't see your names, sorry.

Babieseverywhere · 17/08/2017 15:45

I have had a three day short holiday and we self catered, so easy junk food in the main....fully expect a rubbish weugh in this week but will koko and do better next week. :)

GrumpyInsomniac · 17/08/2017 18:08

notanurse the allowance they've given me is 2400 or so calories. Which is bonkers I think. I was in hospital yesterday for my caudal epidural and therefore had the most ridiculously unhealthy day. 2 apples and 2 bananas at 6.30am because after that I had to be nil by mouth until the procedure.

Then a packet of crisps and a slice of homemade millionaire's shortbread at 4.30pm once I was out of theatre. Then take-out biryani and 'emergency ice cream' for dinner. Should have been an easy diet day under the circs, but had a nightmare heading to theatre thanks to a really nasty HCA, and DH and DS decided the look on my face merited comfort food for dinner.

I think I need to either drop calories below 2000 daily or consider low carb. I've been told low carb can really help with fibromyalgia, so it's tempting, but a bit of a pain to do when you're making good for 3 unless the whole family goes on the diet.

The thing I really struggle with is planning. I don't know from one day's end to the next what state I'll be in, beyond knowing that for the next 2-3 days I should be staying in bed. It makes it hard to plan meals if I won't be able to cook them, and DH has many qualities but his cooking is workmanlike at best. And always punctuated with calls to me asking where ingredients are (several times), or to explain a basic step of the recipe or whatever.

I need to get well enough to batch cook a load of stuff for the freezer, I think, and then put it into portions. And work out a range of things I can have upstairs for bad fibro days so he doesn't just bring me junk food at meal times when I can't get out of bed.
