Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Wow! What an amazing bunch of losers you all are!

Brilliant work on completing C25K Mirabelle, that's really impressive.

Super busy week ahead, swimming and shopping tomorrow, national trust farm Tuesday, lunch with my folks on Wednesday, all with my dd and friend's 5yr old in tow, Thursday finish packing and then Friday, away on holiday!

Anyone away to anywhere unusual this summer?

ChestyNut · 24/07/2017 06:51

blackamericano my back pain was the reason for starting this time, I've lost and put on many times Sad

Writing everything I eat down has helped but I still don't trust myself iyswim? I still worry I'll go back to my old ways.
Improving your blood glucose control is such an important thing, you're doing so well Flowers

MirabelleTree · 24/07/2017 08:38

Being told I wa too fat to be referred to the Consultant re my gallstones focused the mind sharply ! I've lost and gained many times so I think the next 5 years are critical . Resigned myself to logging food probably fit the rest of my life but DH has had to carb count since he was 9 as diabetic so think really I've got off lightly .

We weren't going to get another dog when the time comes but realised that we'll need that walk more than ever . It also helps lots of my friends are at an age where we're all trying to get healthy so social things are starting to involve exercise more, just had a text re a swim!

MirabelleTree · 24/07/2017 08:54

And getting a Fitbit has helped me enormously as I find it much easier to Bala,fr the ins and outs. It also made me see how inactive I was at the weekends and how that large looking field I walked round actually wasn't that far after all.

I think I'm learning how to balance things better now. Holiday next week so will be a test as planning to eat at maintenance, eat out most of the time plus keep exercise levels up.

BreakingSad · 24/07/2017 22:16

First chance I've had to post, but well done to all the losers. I'm 1 lb down (weighed in on Saturday) so really please after the plateau the last couple of weeks.

You all really do keep me going, with all you motivation and support, I love reading all your achievements.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 25/07/2017 19:13

Well done Breaking!

I'm making the most of the soft fruit season - we have more cherries and nectarines than I know what to do with Smile Going out for a walk this evening to make the most of a nice evening before it pours with rain all day tomorrow Grin

Well done Breakingsad!

I've just missioned round doing all the jobs, then off to the garden centre for lunch and to see if I can talk to the manager about if he's possibly interested in stocking some crocheted bowls and plant hangers I make.

I bought myself a present as I earnt some extra cash in June, a gel nail kit! I've done Dd's and my nails and they look brilliant. The whole kit and extra colours was £60 and I'd pay about £40 just for a mani/pedi once. I love my hands looking more groomed.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 27/07/2017 09:53

Well done Breaking.

Do you grow your own cherries and nectarines NoTractors? You must be somewhere nice and warm if so. We have a Victoria plum tree and I'm looking forward to those as they are delicious, probably not brilliant for blood glucose levels though.

Did anyone have weird periods as a result of dieting? Mine just started yesterday and it wasn't due until the 7th August. Which is particularly annoying as I'm in London and my Mooncup is in Dublin.

LosingIsWinning · 27/07/2017 14:04

Hi Americano (and everyone!), thats funny about the periods. I'm on cycle day 35 with no sign of AF and I usually have a reliable 28/29 day cycle. Have done three pregnancy tests, all negative, so just waiting for Flo to arrive.

If your mooncup lives in Dublin, should I assume that you do too? Grin I'm in Ireland too. Taking dd to Tayto Park this week and currently obsessing over whether I'll fit on any rides or be turned away humiliated. My sister's going too so I may just ask her to do all the rides with the kids and spare myself the embarrassment. Sad

I haven't checked in for awhile... I got lazy, gained 3 pounds back, got back on track and am back at 273 this morning (from staring weight 278 a few weeks ago). Well done to everyone sticking with it and headed in the right direction!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 27/07/2017 17:29

Hi Losing, yes my Mooncup and I both live in Dublin. I've never been to Tayto Park, my DC have been a few times but theme parks of any type are not my thing at all. I especially don't like the rides so, if I were you, I would be trying palm off the DC regardless of whether there's a weight limit on the rides. Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 27/07/2017 17:30

WRT my periods, I ought to be peri-menopausal as I'm 50 so perhaps this is the first sign of that which just happens to coincide with dieting.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/07/2017 19:45

Ha, I wish we could grow fruit - a window box is about as much as I can do! I'm in Scotland, not far from Edinburgh, so not very sunny at all (esp today!).....but we do have an excellent greengrocer who does you a decent bulk discount Grin

Can't help on the period front - mine are just bizarre, so I'm not a good judge of what is normal and what isn't Blush Not sure when I had my last one, to be honest! Although I feel super PMT-y this week, so perhaps there's one a-brewing... Confused

On a less gynae-related subject(!) I hope you all have nice plans for the weekend - I'm volunteering in a local charity shop for one of the days, which will be a fun change of pace Smile

I'm heading up your way this weekend Notractors and very excited as never been to Scotland.

My periods are a bit all over the place, I was a week late this month and nearly exploded. Prior to that gap between had been 29, 28, 31, 28, 28, 26, 27. I'm 47 and have had various perimenopausal symptoms since 39. My periods used to be bang on 27 days but haven't now for about 5/6 years. Dieting can send them out of synch but could be age. Friend is same age as you BlackAmericano and has had the very early thing a lot recent,y, followed by missing one.

Rumtopf nail kit a great idea!

Notanurse how is your gallbladder?

Sorry I haven't name checked everyone, getting ready for a swim.

BreakingSad · 28/07/2017 09:32

Early weigh in as just about to head off on holiday (waiting on Dd to finish getting ready). 1 lb down lost 45 so far, hopefully won't do to much damage on holiday, I will be mindful but want to enjoy myselfGrin.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 28/07/2017 11:40

Hi everyone. My weighing scales are a bit dodgy, I suspect the battery needs to be changed. I got 3 different readings this morning with a difference of 1 kg from lowest to highest. They were all down from last week though so I'm taking the middle reading.

Week 5
Starting weight 100kg
current weight 92.2kg
this week's loss 2.8kg

I didn't do all that much differently this week from last week, but had a tiny loss last week and a big one this week, so some of that might be down to unreliable scales. Still as long as it's heading downwards with a reasonable average that's fine. I'm glad my trip to London didn't end in a gain, I was worried that I would get caught with no good option for a low carb meal, but actually it was fine. I had to have a sandwich at the airport as I didn't have breakfast but one egg mayo on granary bread isn't the end of the world when everything else had been low carb.

MirabelleTree · 28/07/2017 13:44

Well done both of you Smile

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 28/07/2017 20:39

Hope you enjoy yourself up here Mirabelle - at least the rain has stopped! Grin

Well done to both of the losers!

OP posts:
MirabelleTree · 29/07/2017 07:45

Thanks NoTractors.

1 lb off so 71.25lb loss, 28.75lb left to lose. Though actually I think I probably will do 10lbs more on top of that but will make final decision when there.

I'm 1lb down too! Didn't feel I did particularly well this week, so I'm happy about that.

To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 31 lbs
Left to lose: 93 lbs

Hello everyone!
Well done on all the loses.....
I just got back home from Disneyland Paris (went with work) so haven't weigh in and refuse to do tomorrow so will do on monday.
I did enjoy it a lot (haven't been before) and was very pleased that I started my weight loss 4months ago as would have been VERY uncomfortable on the rides before...
Re the periods mine are regular but much lighter with random bleeds in between (saw GP about it and waiting for the scan). Had a quick chat with a gynecologist and was told that yes it could be actually caused by higher levels oestrogen while on diet but still will be much happier once (if) the scans confirms all is fine. Oh and I am 41.
Will catch up with the thread no properly

ChestyNut · 29/07/2017 18:19

Hi all
Well done on the losses!

blackamericano I started my period a week early too, very strange.

swlondon I'm going to disneyworld in November and the thought of the rides is keeping me on track. I'm so excited!

Will catch up on thread properly now Flowers

swlondonnanny · 30/07/2017 06:39

Morning everyone,
Weigh in today at 108.9kg
Loss this week (week 20) -1.3kg
chesty how exciting! Is that the one in Florida? How long are you staying there? I only did 'baby rides' as I refused to go on any which had health warnings (high blood pressure, back problems etc... as my back can get really sore so didn't want to risk it)
