Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Can't beat a good swish! My work dress is really loose now and love the feel if I turn round quickly of the swish Blush

So D day tommorow again, I have dutifully eaten something at breakfast (grapes but I'm not hungry at that time) and had lunch with protein this week.
Hope the session is better than last weeks!

swlondonnanny · 20/07/2017 07:16

Chesty good luck today!

My life feels much more boring now I'm not swishing Grin

I've also stood on the scales in the first time in ages, as I was avoiding them with everything else that is going on (DH and I are officially splitting up, currently sorting logistics etc). Realised that there's always going to be something that I can use as an excuse, so I'm holding myself more accountable. I'm 4lbs up from last I checked, yikes...but still 30lbs down that I wouldn't have been otherwise.

To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 30 lbs
Left to lose: 94 lbs

So there we have it! So grateful to have this thread, as I would just have given up without it Smile

NoTractors sorry you are going through such a difficult time Flowers

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/07/2017 15:28

Thanks swlondon - honestly, I feel we're very lucky - this has been on the cards for a long time, so we've both come to terms with it. There's still a lot of love there, there hasn't been any hurt or betrayal, so we could be a lot worse off.

It's a bit strange telling people though - everyone is determined to buy cakes or prosecco to 'cheer you up' Hmm I'm not a fan of either, but it shows how closely people associate food with emotions. They wouldn't rock up with a bacon sandwich, so why they feel a box of pastries will help is a bit odd (a nice gesture, just a bit odd!)

Really sorry to hear that NoTractors but pleased that it is not acrimonious. I think the changes you've already made and the weight you have lost are part of a new phase of your life and good on you for sticking at it at a difficult time.

Good luck tomorrow Chesty.

swlondonnanny · 21/07/2017 07:13

Morning ladies,
Weigh in today at 110.2kg
Loss this week (week 19) -0.6kg
Looks like my period is about to start even though I had a sort of bleed on Tue. Saw GP, he ran a few tests (my thyroid, FBC, etc) which came back normal so referred me for a scan (ideally they would do it the same day, he said) well radiology department has different ideas and looks like I will have to wait 6 weeks just for appointment!?!?! As the random bleeds are getting more often and my hormones are within the range I would expect to be seen a bit quicker....oh well

Rumtopf · 21/07/2017 10:56

Notractors, well done for sticking at it when you're going through such a stressful time. Being able to deal with things without it descending into chaos is a real help. I know what you mean about the food to cheer you up, it's so closely related to our feelings it seems automatic. Perhaps suggest getting out for a long walk or doing something with the friends that are there to support you instead? I started yoga when I divorced my exh and it really helped carve out a bit of space for me.

Chesty, I hope your appt today has gone well.

Swlondon, why not try calling to see if they've got any cancellations? Have you had a smear recently so that can be checked off as clear? 6 weeks is an awful long time to wait.
We're about the same weight wise, well done on your loss this week.

This week I've lost a pound so now that's 17lbs total, which is good considering we had pizza last night with dd and her friends. Two of them slept over as today is their last day of term and they're so funny and lovely to have around.
Dd asked me to die her hair purple for her and with mid brown hair with a few left over highlights it's gone a lovely shade of plum with some slightly brighter bits, looks lovely! Her Dad had told her previously that if she'd hold off colouring her hair til she was 18 he'd give her £100, she can't be doing with any of that nonsense, so a little part of me is overjoyed that she's chosen to go ahead anyway. He's such a manipulative, controlling arse! She's after her second ear piercing to be done too, no doubt he'll hate that as well, I might get a daith piercing done at the same time. They're rumoured to be really helpful with migraines.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/07/2017 12:17

Hello everyone

Week 4
Starting weight 100kg
current weight 95kg
this week's loss 0.2kg

Another small loss week, but my blood glucose measurements are better, so that's good. I have been merrily eating dark rye Ryvita for my lunch with various protein toppings, thinking that they were relatively low gi. But on the Ryvita days I was getting post lunch readings that were higher than I wanted so I googled them and it turns out that they are not as good as I thought they were as their gi is relatively high. But if my weight loss stays slow then I will probably try cutting back my carbs further anyway so the Ryvita will have to be cut down either way.

I'm away next week. A few weeks ago I impulse bought a ticket to see a comedian thinking that the show was next year. Once I got the ticket confirmation I realised it was this year so I had to book flights in a rush. Anyway, I have two nights in London on my own, yippee. So I'm not expecting any loss next week, I will even be comfortable with a gain, but I will try to stick to low-gi principles at least even if I'm stuffing my face with green curry. Grin

swlondonnanny · 21/07/2017 14:11

Rumtopf well done on your loss! Your DD's hair colour sounds lovely.
I had my smear test a couple of months ago which was fine, also loads of infections testing/antibiotics taking and retest and all fine. So really it's the scan I need. I could have it done privately I suppose (was considering private hysteroscopy for TTC purposes) but I just don't have money for it right now) Also what the receptionis said was that their head of department needs to decide if they are going to scan me or not, than it will take 6 weeks for me to get letter with appointment which can be another 6 weeks later!!! I find that unacceptable, really. When I was with my previous NHS trust I was told any unexplained bleeding is generally fasttracked and seen within 2 weeks.... oh well, sorry for the rant
Re your ear piercing - my aunt is a acupuncturist and does specialise in ear acupuncture. If it's done well (right point) I can see how it could help with migraines. Good luck Smile
BlackAmericano if you are doing low(ish) carbing it is very normal for the weight loss to slow down (stop) for a few weeks from week 4. Great that your blood sugar levels are improving, well done

ChestyNut · 21/07/2017 18:01

Appointment was lots better and we had a chat about why last week was so upsetting.
So all good.

Struggled today as at a buffet, I felt a bit panicky as so much choice and felt a bit out of control. I had a £2 coin size pizza muffin and a quarter of a piece of millionaires shortbread, I didn't eat anything else, not sure why it bothered me so much.

Tractors sorry to hear about your breakup. Well done for remaining focused on trying to stay on track Flowers

sw that's very poor to have to wait so long for scan. I second calling for cancellations.

black excellent work on reducing your blood glucoses!

Rum well done! I love pizza! One of my downfalls.

ChestyNut · 21/07/2017 18:03

ChestyNut · 22/07/2017 08:46

Excellent work losers Flowers

Mirabelle you should be so proud, that's amazing! Are you treating yourself for the achievement? (Non food of course Grin)

MirabelleTree · 22/07/2017 10:16

Love that we are losers Grin Hadn't really though about a treat but now you mention it I was given some nice Waitrose Senspa shower gel for op and am running low so might treat myself to that.

Went to friend's house yesterday armed with M and S crunchy cornflake mini bites which are around 41 cals each. Someone bought some Mcvities Digestive thins ie. ultra think choc biscuits 31 cals each, bloody amazing. Apologies to those of you who are avoiding sugar altogether but these are perfect to take to coffee somewhere.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 22/07/2017 14:05

Whoop whoop! Well done all you losers Grin Star Flowers

I've slept verrrry long today (didn't wake up until 11am Blush) and it felt amazing - body obviously needed it Smile. Going to go and do something productive now!

Well done Babies and Chesty!

DH and I graduated from C25K today. Not that we can do 5k in 30 mins but we completed the program that looked highly unlikely at the start Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/07/2017 18:39

I'm glad you had a better appointment this week Chesty. It all sounds very positive.

I'm so in awe of and inspired by the long-term losers, those who have been at it for over half a year and who have lost fabulous amounts of weight, like Mirabelle, Notanurse and Chesty (apologies for any I have missed). Why do you think that you have been able to sustain it so well this time (I'm assuming that you are like me and have dieted in the past only to put it back on again)? Is it better will-power, finding a way of eating that suits you so it doesn't feel like a battle all the time or something else that has motivated you?

I'm hoping that the scare with my rising blood sugars will stop me from slipping back in constant grazing. For instance today we went to our ex-au pairs flat for lunch so I had little choice over what to eat, and he had bought doughnuts for dessert so I had a quarter of one (admittedly I did have a choice over that). But I'm not going to have any carb with my evening meal so that I can go to bed tonight with OK levels. (I've just checked and they are currently 8.3 which isn't too bad considering.)
