Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

MsH when you say folded in half you mean almost like you are bent backwards?

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 11/06/2017 18:24

Hello all - not a good weekend here, food-wise (I have no excuse, save gluttony) but I enjoyed every mouthful and did stop when I was full. DH and I are going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, so I think it was probably a bit of an emotional response too.

However, a new day tomorrow and I'll hold myself accountable for everything that goes in my gob Smile

I don't have DC Sad Must be the pizzababy I've been growing Grin

Has anyone taken a before and during picture weight loss wise? Wish I'd taken a before.
I think I have body blindness when it comes to my weight!

MsHeffalump · 11/06/2017 20:01

Zesty yes, like bending backwards all the time. It drives me mad!

ZestyDragon · 11/06/2017 23:16

NoTractors sorry you are going through a rough time. I do the same when DH and I aren't getting on. Its so easy to comfort eat. Its an automatic response for so many of us. I hope things improve for you.

Chesty I actually literally came across a couple of photos on FB that my SIL posted about 18 months ago. I have been avoiding FB and photos since then....I do think there is a face difference but I find it so hard to judge. I still think I look the same whereas a business contact this week told me she hadn't recognised me at first due to weight loss and cutting my hair. I really can't tell Confused

Maybe when we get to our goals we should do a comparison? But then delete. What do people think? Or even do a halfway mark comparison for those struggling to see.

MsH Its awful. Mine has got better though with walking, activating the core and weight loss. I used to feel I was being broken in two. The pain hasn't gone but its not as bad.

AteRiri · 11/06/2017 23:39

Hi,

I would like to join this thread. I have 4-5 stones to lose. I have been a lot bigger before, then lost weight, but the weight slowly climbed up and now I'm in my last 20lbs before I get to my original weight.

I desperately need the motivation and support.

AteRiri · 11/06/2017 23:41

Oh, and my SW is 89 kgs (this morning)

My lowest weight was 75 down from 99 three years ago!

I have since gained ten pounds a year.

ZestyDragon · 11/06/2017 23:44

Welcome aboard AteRiri its very hard to start again when you have lost and gained. We have all done it.

Have you decided how you want to do this? I am using mfp and a fitbit and its working well.

AteRiri · 11/06/2017 23:57

Hi Zesty,

I'm going the VLCD route. It worked for me before and I'm hoping it will again.

Has anyone heard of Cohen Diet? I used that when I lost weight three years ago. But just the thought of weighing food again...

AteRiri · 11/06/2017 23:57

And thanks for the warm welcome!

MirabelleTree · 12/06/2017 06:33

Just lost a long post . Basically was welcome Ate and Flowers to those in pain and gping through hard times plus I think my body is still readjustin and retaining water. I'm not worried and know I haven't eaten enough to gain fat so it will eventually readjust. Had a pleasant 3 days of maintenance calories, back to deficit today.

BreakingSad · 12/06/2017 11:22

Welcome back Rumtopf Flowers and welcome AteRiri.

I weighed in on Saturday but didn't have a chance to post. 1 lb gain Blush AF did arrive this weekend so would explain my ravenous appetite, which I failed to rein in.

I can be a bit too laid back and looking at my slow progress I know I can do so much better.

ZestyDragon · 12/06/2017 11:33

Ate I did a VLCD before and for me I found it didn't work. I lost weight fast but it didn't stay off, as I think you have found as well before. How many calories do you eat each day? I am looking at it as something that can be sustained. I couldnt eat like that forever.

Mirabelle are you making sure you drink plenty?

Breaking I do that on my AF. And you will probably find that its water weight and will be gone in a day or two. I actually can gain up to 7lbs and then lose it as soon as AF is over. Remember, this is not a race. You want it to stay off so go slow if that suits.

ZestyDragon · 12/06/2017 11:34

I am off to Cyprus in 2 days btw. I plan to eat and drink whatever I like Grin

Well I'm back from a 10 day holiday, all inclusive.

Winced when I got back on the scales but it wasn't as bad as expected, put 2 pounds back on. Phew!

Back to the grindstone now.

ChestyNut · 12/06/2017 18:41

I too did VLCD lost 8 stone and gained it all and more back. Slow and steady for me now I hope.

zesty enjoy Cyprus! I so need a holiday....165 sleeps to go Hmm

sulu 2lbs after all inclusive is great!

irishe · 12/06/2017 19:02

Hi all
Welcome ate and anyone else I have missed!

I weighed in on Sun but only getting round to posting now

Start 277lbs
Loss this week 2lb (week6)
Current 261
Total loss 16lbs

Happy with that, as we had a barbie on Saturday evening and there was LOADS of food. Managed to avoid all the sweet stuff, amazingly but was ambushed by a ginormous bag of crisps x2!

Well done to pp who only gained 2lbs at an all inclusive! That is a seriously good result.

I am off on holiday on 20th June so hoping to stay on course until then and during . . .

AteRiri · 12/06/2017 22:18

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Weight today is the same - 88.72kg.

GrimDamnFanjo · 13/06/2017 00:30

Hello!
I think I have found my people !
I've spent all my adult life dieting. I've lost as much as 6 stone. Being honest I have about 8.5 to lose now.
A mixture of Black Dog and comfort eating has lead me to this point again, but it has to be for the last time!
My plan is to VCLD the first 6 stones and then shift to 5:2 - both have worked for me before. The VCLD is to shift as much as I can before moving on to a slower weight loss which I can then do for life.
I'm on week 2 and have lost 10lbs.

AteRiri · 13/06/2017 00:36

Hi GrimDamnFanjo,

We're almost similar! I've spent my adult life (actually even my adolescence) dieting as well.

I'll do VLCD (or Low-Carb/BSD 800 - I checked and it's like 800 cals of lowcarb food) to shift 2 stones to reach my weight three years ago then will decide from there. I need to lose 4-5 total.

Rumtopf · 13/06/2017 13:48

Thanks for welcoming me back, it's actually really nice to be posting again on here and the support is so lovely.
I weighed in and it's not as bad as I feared, not brilliant, but at least I'm not back to the start!
Starting weight - 258lbs
Current weight - 246lbs
Loss to date - 12lbs
I have 6 weeks before we go on holiday so I've set myself a mini target of 16st 10lb before we go.

I've never tried a VLCD before, several people I know have and have all gained it back plus a bit more for company, but it depends on your mindset I suppose!
I'm cutting out most meat, apart from when I really fancy something (normally a big fat steak when AF is due) and then it will be organic and from our local butcher, dairy (as I've discovered that I've got an intolerance to it) and no crisps.

I used to take reductil which worked like a wonder drug for me, the weight just fell off, but it was suddenly withdrawn from market and I regained all the weight I'd lost, I got down to 13st 4lb. I'm having to do it the hard way now and will start tracking on MFP and using my Fitbit again. No gym or swimming due to shoulder but I can still make sure I get my steps in!

AteRiri · 13/06/2017 23:53

Hi everyone,

Another day for me :) So excited to receive my Blood Sugar Diet book!

MirabelleTree · 14/06/2017 06:20

You can go a long way on steps Rumtopf ! That's what I was doing until pretty recently.

Resumed C25K recently and was pleased to be able to start week 3 and not need to repeat week 2 after my break. I can run 3 whole mins which considering I could barely do a minute I'm really pleased about. Given running never appealed and I thought people who did it were a bit mad it's quite a turn around !
