Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Rumtopf · 14/06/2017 11:53

Well done Mirabelle, week three on C25K is great!
I'm pretty good at meeting my steps target over the week, I'm just frustrated I can't get back to Kettlebells or weight training in the gym, or proper swimming!

Ateriri what blood type are you?

Rumtopf · 14/06/2017 11:54

Great NSV on the clothes Notanurse! (I've got a whole wardrobe full of things I'm looking forward to getting back into!)

Enjoy your holiday Zesty, where are you off to?

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 14/06/2017 21:57

waves to everyone I've had a proper kick in the arse at the doctors (along the lines of 'if you weren't so fat, we'd probably look at this further') so I'm really ramping up my game. DH situation isn't any better, but not any worse, so steeling myself for what might be to come in the future, and trying to avoid eating or drinking my emotions in the meantime...easier said than done, but I'm determined to do so.

Hope you're all kicking on! Smile

Eating really cleanly but weight still not budging. Anyway, I'll soldier on :)

Rumtopf · 15/06/2017 09:57

Notractors, I'm sorry to read things are a bit crap with your dh at the moment. Would some counselling perhaps help to talk things through and get you back on track?
Using it as motivation to focus more is a good idea though, it's hard to change the thought patterns that got us here.

ChestyNut · 15/06/2017 18:37

tractors Flowers that's terrible, why won't they investigate something because you're overweight?!

I too am grumpy as fuck and would usually eat crap to deal with the stress/irritation/anger but as I can't I remain like a bulldog chewing a wasp Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 15/06/2017 18:52

Thank you for your kind words, you're all so lovely Smile

Dr had a point - I was there about my PCOS, and my wonky periods, but as I'm not TTC and my hormone levels look like I'm not menopausal, she's not willing to do any more for me, as the symptoms would abate if I lost weight. If I lose a few stone by the end of the summer, she might consider metformin to help me, but she needs to see more progress from me before considering it. Harsh, but true!

As for DH, we'll see what happens - lots to talk about, and we are talking, so that's a positive.

Zesty hope you're having a wonderful time!
Rum - lovely to have you back
AteRiri keep going, you'll get a woosh at some point, when you lose more than you expect Smile
notanurse well done on the clothes!

Hope everyone else is kicking on this week Smile

Sorry to hear things not the easiest Notractors. It was the desperation to get shot of my gallbladder and being too big to be referred that got me started, I sort of channelled the humiliation and used it to keep me going.

Chesty well done on resisting comfort eating. Can relate to bulldog chewing a wasp Grin Asctime goes on I'm improving with emotional eating and shocked myself when I went out for a walk rather than eating biscuits when one of the DC was doing my head in.

Rumtopf maybe when walking try to mix the speeds up a bit and get your heart rate going, that helps a lot.

Zesty have a fabulous time - you are pretty much at the half way point, well done !

Notanurse well done on the clothes, it's great when that happens.

Ateriri very frustrating but hold the faith, as NoTractors says a whoosh will happen.

0.75lb off for me which has seen off last week's gain but a quarter of a pound. Weight loss not reflecting calorie defecit but I had an expectedly large loss after surgery so I think body still adjusting and am not worried, it will sort itself out and hopefully the whoosh fairy will visit at some point.

MirabelleTree · 16/06/2017 07:50

Forgot my stats.

Lost this week. 0.75lb
Total loss to date (week 31) 63.25lbs
To lose 36.75lbs

ChestyNut · 16/06/2017 15:22

mirabelle that's what I've been told I need to work on, finding something I like to distract or reward self instead of food.

I'm so tired today, not sleeping well.
Wish the whoosh fairy would visit here Grin

MsHeffalump · 16/06/2017 17:29

No weigh in for me this week, as the political despair chocolate fest took a while to get past. Today is day two back on the wagon. I'm staying off the scales until Wednesday. Fingers crossed the damage won't be too bad...

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 16/06/2017 20:56

Well done Mirabelle and well done for getting back on the wagon MrsHeff Smile

I have made a discovery today - Twinnings Cherry Bakewell Green Tea Linky here. It smells amazing, and is totally hitting the spot as a Friday night indulgence, and it's only 4 calories. Smile Brew I'm a massive almond and cherry fan anyway, so I may be a tad biased Wink Cheers!

Well done Notanurse , another few weeks and that will be 3 stone done and dusted.

swlondonnanny · 17/06/2017 08:50

NoTractors sorry for unpleasant experience with your GP
I don't have PCOS but read a lot about it (as it was mentioned quite a few times to me by doctors in out long time TTC) and there is something called Inositol ( I buy it on Amazon, Swansons 100% pure Inositol powder and think it is about £15 for a box of 227g which lasts me just over a month). It is natural equivalent on Metformin and after discussing it with my Endocrinologist she said to take the full 6g scoop a day for it to work well. Is this something you'd consider trying? I take it to balance my sugar levels (in a round about way, think it lowers insuline resistance same way as metformin does). I don't find it to give me any side affects...

swlondonnanny · 17/06/2017 09:41

Skipped a weigh in last week as I was away - first visited my sister and that gone to Athens for nearly a week.
My current weight (week 14) is 116kg (-1.7kg over last 2 weeks). Another 3kg to lose for my BMI to be

swlondonnanny · 17/06/2017 10:48

Thank you everyone for the Flowers
Zesty hope you are having a great time in Cyprus. And enjoying the food Smile Wink If you feel like chatting more about this TTC nightmare please PM me, I don't want to highjack this thread with TTC chat

Interesting, Tractors - I've got PCOS too, and have been mulling over metformin.

I'm a bit dejected - I've been really good, exercising and doing well during the week. Then the weekend with DH comes, and, that's been challenging of late because of long-story-easily-summarised-by-"living with a man"

Work's been really busy so I missed my swims and classes this week...and I ate most of a jar of nutella and a packet of biscuits over the last couple of days.

I WAS feeling really good, really enjoying the exercise, feeling fitter, my clothes were looser - now, I am back to thinking "forever fat, feck"

This is where I give up, usually.

What are your Top Tips for KOKO?

AteRiri · 17/06/2017 11:54

Stress eating - three exams in the coming week!

I'll do better I promise!

BreakingSad · 17/06/2017 15:32

Mirabelle well done on the C25k, I'm not a natural running (and haven't run for a long time) but it was the best feeling when I first ran around our common (about 5k) without any walking for the first time.

Notractors Flowers hope you're having an easier time of it. I like the sound of the cherry bakewell green tea, might give it a go, will make a change from the Jasmine green tea.

Notanurse well done on the clothes victory.

Stealth I'm quick to forget the good feelings when I'm eating and exercising better too. I struggle at weekends as I've no routine, but I'm working on it Grin top tip keep posting.

AteRiri good luck with the exams

Lost this week 1 lb
Lost to date 41
Left to lose 72

ChestyNut · 18/06/2017 09:35

Loss this week -2lb 12oz
Total- 25lb 12oz
To lose- 74lb 2oz Grin

It's as hot as hades here already.

I have PCOS too I've been told weight loss will reduce symptoms can't say it did when I lost weight before tho.

I'm so impressed with those of you running!
I feel far to big to run even if my back was ok Blush
Ate what are you studying?
stealth I'm writing everything down and trying to think if I'm actually hungry.
I spend a lot of time repeating in my head "it's only food"
Baffling that something everyone does has become an all consuming thing for me.
Keep posting Flowers

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 18/06/2017 10:19

Well done Breaking and Chesty!

Thanks for the info about insolitol sw - you're the second person to mention it, so I'll give it a go alongside what I'm currently doing.

stealth keep posting! And even if you're not seeing external changes, you're improving every aspect of your health below the skin. It helps me to think of all my internal organs going 'yes! This is proper nourishment! You're giving me great stuff to work with' My right kidney is particularly vocal Grin. It sounds a bit mad, but works for me!

I STS this week, which is ok, considering. However, I've been and done the weekly shop, so there's lots of nice fresh food in the fridge for me to make progress with this week Smile
