Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Well done to the losers.

I went to go swimming today. Forgot my cossie. Self sabotage at it's best...

Will try and go later, I'm enjoying it. And, I've got body balance class tonight, Exercise really helps my mood.

I don't miss carbs at all, Zesty. I really quite like salad and falafel and amn't that bothered by pasta and bread. So, it's no hardship. If only chocolate, biscuits and wine were carb free...What I can't get my head round is eating fat makes you thin. Also, so far, it fecking hasn't!

ChestyNut · 01/06/2017 11:04

Thanks stealth I'll have a look. Physio said sounds like sacroiliac joint but will see next week. I'm trying not to take the stronger painkillers as don't want to become dependant.
I'd looked exercises up online to do but not sure if making it worse as it clunks so loudly?!

MirabelleTree · 01/06/2017 12:02

Oh Stealth how annoying, sort of thing I would do.

Chesty I too get it. Can't add to Stealth's excellent advice. I don't know if a TENs machine might help at all for your back? I used one for gallbladder pain and I think it did help. Not sure about the exercises. I used to get DH to lean heavily on my Sacroiliac joint when pregnant and it seemed to move a bit then be ok but really don't want to be recommending that approach. Are you taking paracetamol or ibuprofen at all? If you are , is that on a regular schedule or as and when? You'll get better pain control taking it at regular intervals.

I think Crap of my choice should be our thread motto, it does sum up the control aspect very well!

Ashgr0ve · 01/06/2017 15:19

Oh Chesty that's awful! I had bad hips ( the whole reason I'm here actually!). I had acupuncture and dry needling alongside physio 3 times a week. Swimming was great as it took the pressure off my hips and legs. I just floated for an hour at a time it was great.

Totally feel your pain on the comfort eating and the inevitable aftermath. You're doing amazing, keep it up! I took up crocheting to keep my hands busy and drank water, didn't work every time but as I was stuck to the couch it was about all I could do!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 01/06/2017 17:31

I adore Crap of my Choice - I wonder what it is in Latin, we could have it on a coat of arms Grin. Not doing too badly here, so busy at work I don't really have a chance to eat during the day, or think about food.
I have been quite brave and bought a tankini for a holiday in September - it fits, but will fit much better if I stick at this for the next three months - so I'm kicking on! Smile

Waves to everyone, we're nearly at the weekend Smile

Where are you off to Tractors?
I'm going to Florida in Nov Grin

Mirabelle and Ash I do have a Tens somewhere and I'm going to ask physio what they think about accupuncture, hoping our occ health do it.

Feel bit better now, had a catch up with best friend, some painkillers and a huuuuge salad. Tired now as back kept waking me up.

Thanks for support it really helps to know I'm not alone in all this Flowers

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 01/06/2017 21:03

We're off to France, for just under a week, fits in nicely with the September holiday weekend for the DCs Smile

Hope your back behaves itself tonight for you, so you get some sleep Smile

This is really random but it's an almost 1am thought I wanted to share...

I recently noticed I can't see my tummy when I look down. As in it doesn't stick out farther than my chest does. And I'm 'only' a c-cup.

Small victories I guess! Haha

MirabelleTree · 02/06/2017 07:08

In my book that is a pretty big victory Cult. I made a grand announcement to my family that my boobs now stick out more than my tummy. They looked a bit Hmm

2 week weigh in for me (week 29). 6.5lb loss , total lost 63lbs, 37lbs to lose. I rather like the surgery diet Grin That's 4 and a half stone so really pleased. I might be adjusting my target down a bit when I get there . I'm looking at it as 3 phases. Phase 1 is the first half, phase 2 is the second half, phase 3 is adjustment and maintenance.

Oh Notanurse I am sorry, it is really miserable Sad I guess it takes the shall I shan't I have surgery aspect away though. The biggest thing that helped me was the walking. Gradually over time getting faster and doing more, I'm sure it has made a big difference. I hope you have a lovely weekend and your gallbladder behaves itself.

Thefrenchconnection1 · 02/06/2017 11:56

Please can I join? I'm 6lbs down and need support. Starting weight 15st 3lbs. Interim target 12st. Been on this three weeks. Main reason is my blood pressure but need to get fit for my dcs as I can't do what I want to with them.
Doing mfp with a fit bit. Doing exercise for the first time in my life but have dodgy knees so can't go mad.
Can anyone recommend supportive trainers for a very wide foot please?

MirabelleTree · 02/06/2017 12:42

Welcome the Frenchconnection. I lost 6lbs in 3 weeks at the start too and also have high blood pressure. Don't underestimate what walking can do. I've done 2 weeks of C25K plus one swim, the rest has been all walking, I am a fan! Would it be worth having gait analysis done for the trainers? I've never had it done but am going to son. For now I'm in Addidas I think with the insoles I use for Plantar Fascitis.

Thefrenchconnection1 · 02/06/2017 12:53

I'm too scared to go into an actual running shoe shop! They will laugh! Blush

MirabelleTree · 02/06/2017 13:10

Yes I know how you feel but I'm going to suck it up. I think ...

Thefrenchconnection1 · 02/06/2017 14:16

Let me know how you get on!

ChestyNut · 02/06/2017 15:13

Mirabelle you're doing fantabulosly Smile

Regarding Crap of Choice or CoC for short Grin

Do I think I really fancy chocolate so I'll have a bar so I don't feel deprived and carry on OR I eat the chocolate and it sets me off and before I know it I'm eating CoC by the bucket everyday?

Who knew a chocolate badly could be so complicated?!

ChestyNut · 02/06/2017 15:22

And whilst I'm at it is the low fat option always best? If I buy sour cream is the 30% less fat one best?

TheFrench can't help on the trainer front
as the thought of exercise makes me wince ATM taking me all my time to limp round Sad
Good job on exercising tho.

MirabelleTree · 02/06/2017 15:50

Thanks Chesty. I don't think low fat is always best as I think they often bulk it out with sugars. I've had to be low fat so I'm not really sure.

With CoC I've been looking at it like this. I'm eating to be healthy and need to be sustainable. I have had a little bag of chocolate safari biscuits almost daily which is 109 calories so figure the rest of the day is fine. If I have a very PMT type day then I'll allow something else accepting that I haven't had the healthiest choices but I have stuck to my calories and it is a short term thing. Some weekends I feel like a pudding so will have tiramisu or something and generally ditch the safari animals but not always as I reserve the right in my head to eat both if I want to as it's not happening all the time. But generally I try to make 80% of my intake to be pretty decent on the nutrition front.

That's just me and I'm sure others will feel differently.

ZestyDragon · 02/06/2017 16:26

Well done Zesty

I wonder how many pounds collectively have been lost on the thread 🤔

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 02/06/2017 18:30

OP posts:
Ashgr0ve · 02/06/2017 18:54

First weigh in.
Start weight 220.5lbs
Loss 4.5lbs
To go 75.5lbs
Yay! Started high intensity classes on Monday, christ they're hard! I've only cut out sugary snacks (kept the dessert though Grin)

stealtheatingtunnocks · 02/06/2017 23:48

Am loving this thread, thanks.

CoC tonight - two large glasses of red wine. Two large spoons of nutella. Another half glass of red wine.

Thoroughly enjoyed it...despite trying, and failing, to go swimming twice today (forgot cossie, went back to find aqua-aerobics had started)

KOKO, losers.
