Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Week 12 for me, current weight 117.7 kg (-1.3kg)
My next goal is to have BMI < 35 (113kg), hopefully will get there by the end of June
Having a 'nightmare ' week trying to find a swimming costume. As I am quite tall the one piece ones don't fit lenghtwise.... Can't find a tankini in my size (everything I liked is sold out in my size!!!) even considered a bikini but Freya one's ( which tops are like scaffolding which I really need and found in my size) bottoms are still too small for me (or my bottom is too big actually)
Oh well...

swlondonnanny · 03/06/2017 07:16

Re low fat versions of food - as I am doing low car high fat I would say high/normal fat every single time. And it works for me well. I have autoimmune illness (or 2) and low carb high fat is very good for this... and other conditions as well. BUT I do not know if it can make some other conditions worse... I talked to a few of my doctors about it (mainly my endocrinologist) and they approved... so I will carry on with it.
CoC is an interesting concept. And it shows that what people consider to be crap is based on their diet and views on healthy eating. I have to admit that I wolfed down 'hunters chicken' from Coop last night. I don't eat cheese/BBQ sauce normally so for me this was 'crap'. For some other people perfectly healthy meal. On the other hand the amount of butter / pork scratching I eat might give someone else panic attacks and I consider it fine and don't look at it as crap...

Well done swlondonnanny and NotaNurse.

I have had to be low fat for ages due to my gallbladder so the idea of butter makes me wince a little still at the moment. Very true though, CoC does depend on your perception. I guess Long Tall Sally doesn't have anything suitable for you SWLondonnanny*, not sure what else to suggest. Doesn't sound easy.

Someone gave me these

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 03/06/2017 11:16

i have to say CoC is a difficult one for me - I still have a massive 'fuck it' button that is difficult to switch off if I only have a little of something. That said, I'm becoming much better at appraising what nutritional value I gain from eating something. If it's not going to nourish me, or is over-processed, I don't eat it.

Sw - I'm 5'10/5'11 with a long torso, I feel your pain! I got my tankini in Sainsburys, as you can buy the tops and bottoms in different sizes. That's all you need - somewhere you can mix and match! The Gok designed ones are pretty structured, my hefty bosom is pretty constrained in mine. I struggled with ones with tops just based on dress sizes, so look for ones based on bra sizes instead, and then just pick the bottoms that match your bottom Smile

My vote is for full fat too, on the grounds that less mucking about with food is better.

Tractors I have the fuck it button too, but allowing a daily CoC is sort of helping. It's giving my brain the chance to practice the idea that one CoC does not have to lead to disaster. Every time it does lead to disaster strengthens the power of the fuck it button. Every time it doesn't lead to disaster is therefore helping to reprogramme the brain.

Have spent a week sitting on 270 and cursing impending a period bloat. Finally saw 269 this morning. Hurrah!

Question for the walkers: how do you avoid shredding first your trousers and then your inner thighs? I've googled, and shit like greasing up the legs just isn't going to cut it. I'd love to get out and walk but I can't afford to buy new trousers every couple of months.

MirabelleTree · 03/06/2017 13:25

I was going to link to the mini Green and Black's bars but failed to! They are about 85 calories each. MsH I started off in Asda's jogging bottoms which are £6 a pair and held up pretty well in the scheme of things.

irishe · 03/06/2017 13:36

Morning all. Weighed in this morning.

Start 277lbs
Loss this week 1lb (week5)
Current 263
Total loss 14lbs

Got my first stone off today, hallelujah! Only lost a pound this week despite being good as gold, so looks like the hard work is about to begin. Feels good though.

Congrats to all our losers, so many doing great. And welcome to our new losers! I am still a newbie but am aiming to be here for the long haul.

I have not been around much this week and am losing track of the chat.
What does CoC stand for?

I am insulin dependent diabetic and have found an instant reduction in the amount of insulin I need once I start reducing calories. I know that sounds a bit obvious but for example if previously I might have needed 4mls of insulin for a slice of bread, now I might need 2mls. Which is great as my insulin resistance is dropping.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 03/06/2017 14:12

Crap Of Choice, irishe.

I thought it was ok to allow yourself to anticipate something that you really like, that you would look forward to and really savour.

I had two glasses of red wine and two spoons of chocolate spread. Yum.

Then my husband irritated me, so, I drank the rest of the wine, had another three spoons of nutella, on, erm, bigger spoons and three packets of crisps.

Today, I am annoyed and hungover.

I may have to revisit the CoC theory, suspect it's bollocks. Though, to be fair, I really DID enjoy the first treat bit. The rest of it, not one bit.

Angry eating. No use.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 03/06/2017 14:45

stealth - see, that sounds like my 'fuck it' button! At the moment, I'm just too ruled by my emotions - I know eating won't help them, but then I do it anyway, and get upset. Vicious cycle! Maybe one day I can work on the CoC principle, but it's not now.

I've taken to bunging a facemask on when I feel the evening 'twitch' approach - makes it physically difficult to open my gob when there's an inch of clay drying on it Wink

OP posts:
irishe · 03/06/2017 15:16

Ah thanks stealth

Yes, emotional eating is a difficult habit. I used to think that I wasn't an emotional eater but then I realised I ate when I was happy to celebrate things and then when I was sad, I ate for comfort. So basically I eat all the time, nightmare!

I can't do that "look forward to a treat thing". I just go mad. I totally love bread and butter, but one slice is not enough, has to be the whole loaf!

So for now, no foodie type treats. Non foodie treats are good though!

BreakingSad · 03/06/2017 15:34

The fuck it button is all to familiar to me too, I am slowly improving, but still have moments

I second the Asda tracksuit bottoms, have lasted me well with walking and exercising.

I've STS and so glad I did maintenance mode this week, otherwise I know I would of had a gain, as I've done little exercise this week and felt completely out of sync, it definitely helped me stay more in control.

To lose 113
Lost this week 0
Left to lose 72

MsHeffalump · 03/06/2017 15:49

'Great,' I thought, 'I have an Asda gift voucher which will come in very handy!' Then I checked the website. Asda do not cater to arses as large as mine, it seems. Now I feel enormous. Thanks, Asda!

ChestyNut · 03/06/2017 18:24

I also suffer badly from the "fuck it button" Grin
irishe that's great about your reduced insulin requirements. I've been reading about the MM blood sugar diet, interesting stuff.
stealth it was just a day that you ate higher calories, move on and do better today Flowers

ChestyNut · 04/06/2017 09:43

1lb off this week.
21lbs total.
79lbs to go.

Really saddened this morning to wake up to another terrorist attack in London Sad
Hope everyone's safe.

swlondonnanny · 05/06/2017 09:25

Thank you for all your advice re the swimwear. I went to Sainsbury's but sadly my boobs are too big even for Gok's range (36G)... so at the end got bikini from Freya and my bottom somehow managed to fit in Grin So off course I ordered another pair (different style bottoms) which I am going to pick up today and a hoping they will fit as well
The trip to Sainsbury's wasn't a waste of time as I bought a lovely dress instead Smile
MsH I just wear my leggins and dress as I do most of my walking on my way to/at/from work... what I found difficult was to find the right shoes... I used to have fit flop trainers which broke down and they don't make the same one anymore. So at the end bought skechers go walk 4 which are comfortable to walk in....
Chesty yes sad times we live in....
Well done on the loss. Are you planning to do the blood sugar diet? I am playing with it a bit, I do actually eat what he recommends (low carb med style) but don't go as low as 800 calories a day.
Breaking well done for STS
Irishe well done on your stone off. And big well done on improving your insulin resistance, it must feel like a great achievement for you.
Can I ask what type of diabetes you have? My DN (age 6) just got diagnosed with Type I and it was such a great shock for all of us. I am still trying to get my head around it and also figure out how I could help my sister...

ChestyNut · 05/06/2017 16:47

london 800 is too low for me, would set me off in the binge/starving cycle I think.

Is your niece on a pump? Lots of children do well on them. It might help your sister for you to learn injections and glucose monitoring so she has a back up if needed. There's a good children with diabetes group on Facebook for support Flowers

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 06/06/2017 19:15

Evening all, how is everyone doing?

I'm considering building an ark - it has got to stop raining at some point, right?! Confused

Doing ok so far this week, but not brilliant. Avoided walking home from work and got the bus home (first time in months) to get out of the rain, but my step count is hideously low as a result! MrsH I walk to and from work in jeans (casual office), and I know you said no greasing up, but I can recommend 'body glide' for anti-chafing - it's just a bit like a deodorant stick. Link here

I'm very sleepy this evening, so going to have an early night, and maybe the rain will have stopped by the time I get up!

OP posts:
MsHeffalump · 07/06/2017 13:23

Tractors the trouble with jeans is they wear through so quickly. My current pair are an awesome fit and I get no leg shreddage off them, but they get thinner and thinner on the inner thighs so quickly, and once they're gone it's agony.

Weigh in today. I'm up a pound but not stressing. Period hunger has resulted in some biscuits and a couple of sandwiches, which always push up the bloat / water / contents of intestines weight. Going to get on the exercise bike shortly anyway. A small gain is no cause for despair!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2017 20:34

Ah, my jeans are cheapy skinny jeans from Sainsburys, so if I have to buy a new pair every couple of months, it's not too big of a deal. I kind of forget that others may buy clothes from proper shops and not bunged in with the weekly shop! Blush. Mine will still shred, but the body glide does help them hold out for longer.

I am very pleased with myself this evening - there were doughnuts and muffins and all kinds of crap floating about at work today, and I ignored them all. Wasn't even mildly tempted to have one, just a complete absence of interest. And now this evening, I've had some lemon and thyme marinated chicken and some rice and spinach, and I know that tasted far better than anything that was languishing in the breakroom at work. A very minor thing, but I'm proud all the same Smile

Well done everyone, not the easiest of times to be doing this at the moment. I'm heading for a gain by the look of it this week unless the scales go down by tomorrow. No reason why as I know I've eaten less than I've burned so shall just ignore. Probably is because I had a big loss the previous two weeks with surgery and body just sorting itself out.

Notanurse you poor thing Flowers Any more news on the scan? I'm exactly 2 weeks post op , feel so much better and am pretty much back to normal.

Didn't weigh myself last week. Hoping I'll remember tomorrow morning!
Felt really crap today. Have mirrored wardrobes and seeing my fats legs in the mirror when I got dressed was not needed 😂😂
Did a little 'then and now' showing 2 years difference and feel a bit better! At least I look slightly nicer in clothes haha
Also noticed the skirt i normally avoid cause it's pretty tight around my waist isn't as tight as normal

ZestyDragon · 09/06/2017 11:54

Start: 287lbs
Current: 226lbs
Loss this week: 1lbs
Loss: 61lbs
To go: 66lbs
Goal: 160lbs

Bit stressed at the moment with work etc so just about hanging in there. AF arrived with a bang so the mood is grim. Its not something I have written about here but I have been trying for a baby for sometime. I hoped the weight loss would help but not so far. I am 41 and time is running out. I did get the results back from my ovulation test this morning and it was fine. At least I know that's ok.
