Grin tomorrow.

PosiePootlePerkins · 17/03/2017 06:30

Happy moving day two! Incidentally I am 5ft6 and currently weigh 12st 6ish so we are very similar!
Please Happy Anniversary! I very rarely have a drink in the week, like you I think its a good habit to get into, its only empty calories after all. Don't worry too much about S days to start with, you may well go a bit wild but that's OK, in the beginning its like a release valve and helps you get back on track on Monday. Its taken me 5 months to finally accept that I need to reign in my S days, you'll get there eventually.
Have a good day everyone.

Hello can I join in please? I came across NoS the other day and I'm liking the simplicity of it. I'm well aware that snacking is my downfall. In my mid forties now, with menopause looming. I've always had weight problems, but the rate at which I've gained weight over the last few years has been really alarming and I'm building up a list of body issues that I know would go away if I could get a grip on it.

"Diets" just aren't working any more - I can't get past about a week before every fibre of my being rebels and I pile it back on. Hoping this plan might be more sustainable. I'm not going to tell anyone IRL though, so this thread could be a lifeline.

I'm interested how people are finding the weekends. I know I always eat more at weekends so I'm a bit nervous that I will just undo any good I've done, when the S days give me the excuse!!

Pleasedontbelikeme · 17/03/2017 10:19

Good luck with the move (& strange food combos) two and thanks Posie.

Welcome AChicken, I'm new to this too - today's my first S day after four No-S's, so will let you know how it's gone when I weigh in on Monday.

On height/weight, I'm 5 ft 10 and....erm... very fat Blush Good news is that I'm 3 st less than I was this time last year. I lost 4.5 st quite quickly, but have already put 1.5 st back on so am looking for something more susutainable and hoping that No-S is it. Approx 6 st to go to a healthy BMI, so am feeling slightly out of place with all of you relatively sylph-like folk Blush. Let's hope I can get there this time Smile

Rockaby · 17/03/2017 10:50

two my scales are not terribly accurate, so I think we're probably pretty similar! Good luck with the move today and happy anniversary please!

I am officially starting today and so far, so good! We are travelling today which means no opportunity to snack. Have just realised I have picked the best / worst day to start, being a Friday! Oh well. I'll try to be as S free as possible over the weekend. We are on holiday this week, but I'm hoping it's a good thing; my DH is a good influence when it comes to sticking to meals and not eating snacks. Planning lots of walks, bike rides and picnics. Hoping the picnics will be doable on just one plate. Shall see.

Hope everyone has nice days.

Rockaby · 17/03/2017 10:51

And wow that is an impressive weight loss please! That's amazing! Well done.

beela · 17/03/2017 13:21

Just weighed in and I have lost 5lb this week!!! Realistically though I am anticipating some of that to going back on once I'm over this gastroenteritis. My digestive system has been thoroughly emptied (sorry, tmi) over the last 48 hours.

Chicken welcome! And in answer to your question, I have been doing this since mid-January and my weekends have gradually become more moderate as I've gone on. Like you, I've not told anyone about this IRL (not even DH) and on the whole it's been fine, not too many excuses needed.

twofloorsup · 17/03/2017 13:53

Thanks all can't wait to get in and have a proper food shop delivered !

AChickenCalledKorma · 17/03/2017 14:56

That's good to hear beela. I'm torn between trying to keep it up over the weekend or trusting that it's ok to have "S-days" and pick it up again on Monday. Weekends have always been a bit of an issue in previous weight loss attempts.

please I reckon I need to lose at least six stone so you are definitely not alone. (And I'm getting on for two stones heavier than I was last year, so you're definitely ahead of me on this road, even if you did take a bit of a detour!!!)

PosiePootlePerkins · 17/03/2017 18:28

Welcome chickenSmile** I would definitely advise that you enjoy your S days, especially when you're just starting out, the most important thing is to build good habits in the week. I started on a Friday over 5 months ago and was advised on the NoS forum to just enjoy my weekend then follow the rules on the Monday. Over time you will find your S days are getting more under control.
Beela I guess the weight loss is a slight silver lining? But sorry you've been feeling so rough.
Rockaby have a lovely holiday, great that your DH is onboard. You'll be surprised how easy it is to stick to.
Please I am most definitely not sylph likeGrin I really hope this works as well for you as it has for me.
Have a great weekend everyone. We are taking 6 13yr olds paintballing tomorrow for my Ds' birthday, wish me luckShock I will be having a large glass of wine once its all overSmile

Holy bajaysus posie, that sounds full on! Good luck. I bet they'll love it and I hope you enjoy your well earnt wine at the end of it Wine.

I meant to ask if people are treating wine as an S day only treat? I was going to have a glass tonight, but now wondering if that's a bit of a cheat.

Good to read that S days start to get under control after a while.

AChickenCalledKorma · 17/03/2017 19:31

I was wondering that about wine as well. I'm suspicious that it might be a "sweet". It wouldn't do me any harm to keep it for the weekend, but DH doesn't drink so I might end up on half a bottle per day, which I'm guessing wouldn't fit well with the whole "moderation" principle Grin

beela · 17/03/2017 19:48

A glass of wine is fine! It says so on the No S website so it must be true.

PosiePootlePerkins · 17/03/2017 19:51

You're officially allowed wine in the week, but I try not to, just because its empty calories. Have a look at the official NoS website, lots of info on there.
Chicken my DH can't drink much due to a medical condition, I often buy the little bottles so I don't waste any!
Rockaby I'm not exactly sure why I agreed to it now...where's my sweet little boy gone! I'll breathe a huge sigh of relief when they're all delivered back home in one piece (I hope!)

Goodness me the thread is really busy!! Welcome to anyone I've missed.
Ive been very distracted, but have kept on track diet wise.
Thank you Claire for the breastfeeding advice, ill definitely look that up.
I'm a big advocate of the no S. I've lost 2 stone 8 since January so it really can work. I've still got a long way to go (5 more stone). I'm determined to keep it off this time and the diet is so forgiving I just think I might this time.

beela · 17/03/2017 20:01

Haha posie, just so keen to encourage the drinking Wine I think you'll definitely need it after tomorrow, hope it all goes well Grin I've given it up for lent as I realised I was having a glass of wine instead of a pudding so needed to break that habit.

Ariston that's amazing weight loss, well done!

Rockaby · 17/03/2017 20:11

Thanks all for advice re wine! I'm just finishing my glass but definitely won't be having a second.

Ariston, that's really encouraging to hear about your weight loss.

I've brought the No S book with me on holiday, but can't seem to put down The Other Boleyn Girl except to Mumsnet for long enough to actually read the No S. Will have a look at it after this chapter.

AristonAndOn · 17/03/2017 20:13

Rockaby, I found the noS to be a quick and easy read, i dipped in and out of it.

Rockaby · 17/03/2017 20:50

Thanks Ariston. I've just read some of it and it's quite a fun read so far! He / they are quite entertaining, considering it's a diet book. I'll read some more before bed I think.

thewaitresses · 17/03/2017 21:00

Happy Friday everyone! No wine for me tonight but will be having some chocolate - I've eaten really well today with only 1 extra strong mint between lunch and dinner Grin I really didn't feel hungry between either so think the NoS plan is resetting my hunger expectations. The weirdest thing happened yesterday. I did well all day but got a bit 'grazey' before dinner (grapes from the fruit bowl, a handful of tortillas etc whilst preparing dinner) served a huge portion of dinner (chicken and kale Caesar from Hello Fresh) and had to leave half of it as I was so full. It made me really regret the grazing as my dinner was so much healthier (I dream of glowy skin and shiny hair as well as weight loss!)

beela · 17/03/2017 21:34

waitresses we had the Hello Fresh chicken and kale caesar this evening too! Much nicer than I thought it was going to be.

thewaitresses · 18/03/2017 09:43

It was yummy! Loved the crispy kale! I just had a recipe disaster for breakfast though - Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) eggs baked in avocado - just weird and nothing like the picture in the book!

PosiePootlePerkins · 19/03/2017 10:28

Happy Sunday everyone! Well I survived the paintballing party, DS and his mates had a great time and no one was injured so phew! Managed to steer clear of the party food, in actual fact it didn't seem all that appealing which is probably a first! I will confess to two glasses of white wine last night though!
Today we are chilling at home, so it will be three plates and sweets after a meal if I fancy it.
