I'm not sure Posie, though I think a trip to the doctors should be in order anyway. Always good to check things out.

Yeah I think I should. Thank youSmile

Posie I think it's just after effects of going to bed with no dinner last night and laying awake on and off.
I've eaten now and am off to bed.
I'm in my 40s and agree a trip to the doctor wouldn't hurt.

Sorry should have said in my 40s and not suffered those symptoms so wouldn't necessarily say it's part and parcel of being a woman and getting older.
I click reply and forget what the question was Blush

Thanks two. I was googling (I know!) and it seems PMT can get worse with age, but doctor may be able to help with medication so I will definitely make an appointment. Sorry for random topic not connected to NoS but thanks for the advice!

No apology needed it's all part and parcel of general wellness. Hope you get it sorted but stay away from Dr Google he's terrible at helping the individual Wink

Hello all, Posie sent me here from a thread I started about eating too much and trying to lisentropic weight. Can I join you? Is there a link to the older threads somewhere so I can have a read? Posie, you said something about sensible, change habits for life and not worry too much at the weekends/special occasions? Sounds like a plan Smile. BTW, I'm 46 & my periods went horrendous this year after being perfectly regular since my teens. Doctor has helped though. Medication at first and then a mirena coil, which has been great. So worth going for a chat, there may be something they can do to help with the pmt ☺

I don't know why there's a Blush at the end, it was a Smile when I previewed the post!

Hello Please and welcome.
I was reading your thread and was going to invite you over but the fabulous Posie beat me to it.
I'm not sure how to link the other thread as I'm using the app but I think it will be easy to find.
I've been on this since New Year after 25 years of chaotic eating and it's done me wonders !
Sweet tooth and binge eating all gone already Smile

It's great Smile I've been going since January too - well, 1st week of term - and my weight loss has been steady at around 1lb per week. Not as dramatic as slimming world (which loads of people I know seem to be on) or similar but I think it is much more sustainable as it is about habits and not rules/counting calories.

Plus there is great support here.

I'm feeling pleased today because I managed 3 days in a row last week with no slip ups (not even a sneaky chip from the dc's tea). Just back from ds swimming lesson now and watching dh eat a Mars bar with NO envy.

Well done Beela that's progress indeed Smile
I have come to the conclusion that if slimming world was that great we wouldn't all have been eagerly awaiting the next magazine voucher to rejoin. It's too exhausting.

Hi please and welcome! Yes as its a weekend you can pretty much please yourself. On Monday it will be three platefuls of food, no snacks, no seconds and nothing sweet. Basically three meals a day. That's it, simple! The first few weeks will be about establishing good habits, so don't worry too much about what the scales say, its more about sorting out your relationship with food.
Thanks also for the info about your periods. I am almost certain now that its to do with getting older. Will be ringing the GP on Monday.
Beela well done for the three days, fantastic! Definitely progress.
Two exhausting is a good way to describe Slimming World! They would hate us if they read our posts about them! Think I'll stick to this completely free and very effective way of eating thanksGrin

Half my family (brother, his OH, and my sis) are on slimming world and doing very well at it. I've been thinking about it but don't fancy paying all that money for things I can figure out myself. I really like the idea of this No S thing, sounds like something I can do long term. Definitely giving it a go Smile

Please one of my favourite quotes from the NoS book is
"Ask yourself if you can imagine staying on a particular diet for the rest of your life. If not, don’t bother starting; it’s a waste of time and will."
Also
"You will lose weight on pretty much any diet if you stick with it; the problem is, you won’t."
I have followed most diets out there and have lost weight with all of them for the time I have managed to stick to them. But of course eventually they become too difficult, or tedious or expensive to carry on with, then I put back on all of the weight and more.
With NoS it really does feel like I can do it for life. I'm on my 6th month now and honestly it has been completely manageable. Not always easy, and I've had my slip ups along the way, but you just get back on it and keep trying. I've lost 17lb so far, which is slow weight loss, but I have gained sanity around food which I've never had before.
Anyway enough about me! Good luck with it and any questions just askSmile

I never understood people who couldn't eat in times of stress.

Now I do !

Had a really tough couple of days and am now having to force myself to eat some toast as it's been 18 hours and I feel dodgy.

Funny how much my mindset has changed since the beginning of January !

Can I join for a cheat please? Just joined fitness group this week and I'm a while TWO stone that I imagined myself to be! I never weigh and have never owned scales so what an eye opener.

I'm 46 and need to sort myself out.

I'm suffering terrible headaches and feeling woolly headed too but that can be down to withdrawal of sugar and carbs as well can't it?

Ah bless you two hope things get better soon.
Welcome walking. If you are completely cutting out carbs then I would say that could definitely cause headaches and light headedness, I have tried it in the past and never got past the first initial few days of hell! With NoS you are literally just cutting out snacks, seconds and sweet things - ie food which is mostly sugar - you can still have all the usual bread, pasta, potatoes etc. Although if truly committed to low carbing I guess that could also fit with NoS too.
