Posie I joined a gym but knowing that I really only wanted to use the swimming pool.
I have forced myself to go to the gym a bit but since my knees are having none of it I now either walk for half an hour on the treadmill, swim or I go out for a 30 minute brisk walk (with music as it keeps it brisk).
I aim for 5 days a week but consistently hit 4.
I'd say 3 is a perfect introduction.
Again it's finding something you enjoy.
I want to be able to do the cross trainer at the gym but it looks like an instrument of torture so I'm still building up to that one Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 18/06/2017 21:23

Thanks two unfortunately I am stuck to being in the house, sorry should have said that! DH often away or working late so I can't make any regular commitments to a gym or class. I need to find something I can do in the living room, maybe a dvd or something I don't know.

3 days a week is a great starting point posie. Have you got space to do a dvd? I like the Jillian Michaels ones (30 day shred etc). The workouts are around 30 minutes and build up - i.e. week one is the easiest and it goes through to week 3 (or week 4 on ripped in 30). The Davina ones are quite good too.

I aim for 4-5 days on my dvd plus a swim one day, and a day off. But I've worked my way up to that. I've just had the weekend off though as it's been so hot. Mustn't fall out of the habit!

Mummybear1984 · 18/06/2017 21:42

I will also try and message daily. Will keep me on track. I go on holiday in 9 weeks and I'm determined to be slimmer. I've also got a 16k race in 10 weeks so need to get out for more runs- losing weight will help! I'm worried about tomorrow as got a late work meeting and there's going to be cake and I know um going to be bored and hungry. But I have my first weigh in Tuesday morning so don't want to ruin it.

Poise try googling hiit workouts. There are some low intensity ones and they're quite short but effective.

Good luck everyone, thanks for making me feel so welcome 😊

twofloorsup · 18/06/2017 21:52

Posie I've heard that fitness blender do videos that you can follow at home.
I tried doing a dvd in my flat but the floor was so creaky I was a bit worried what the business downstairs were thinking Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 18/06/2017 22:25

Thanks for the suggestions everyone I will have a look and try and find something suitable! Two that made me laugh, you can just imagine downstairs getting the wrong impression!Grin Mummybear I am very impressed that you will be running 16k! Good luck with the training. Beela thats good to know that dvds have worked for you. OK I will try and get my bum in gear and report back! I am so unfit its going to be a slow start, but I do have to start somewhere.

At this rate there won't be much running going on- it's a spartan race so lots of obstacles too so at least they break up the running! Must get myself into gear otherwise will be a nightmare!!
Good luck with the exercise- the thought is worse rhan actually doing it!!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 19/06/2017 07:41

Morning! Lunch is made and packed Halo so I am all set for day 1 on habit!

Re the exercise, I have been intending to start Ripped in 30 for the last month and not doing it. I did start to park 20 mins from work to make myself urban range walk, but I'm late today so am on the bus, and Tues and Thurs I'm in a different office which I'll need to drive to, so walking is a bit out this week! Maybe today's the day for a bit of Jillian...

lorelairoryemily · 19/06/2017 08:09

Today's the day! Weetabix for breakfast and a walk with baby afterwards...12 weeks and 5 days til my wedding... Is a 2stone loss doable on this by then? I have about 8 stone to lose in total I'd say....

lorelairoryemily · 19/06/2017 08:10

Ooh best of luck cheddar!!

MyCatSydney · 19/06/2017 17:02

Just checking in. Have had breakfast and lunch no snacks, sweets, or seconds. Quite surreal really! Hope everyone is having a good day. Halo

twofloorsup · 19/06/2017 17:19

Well done mycat good start Smile
I'm determined not to leave dinner so late that I end up with cereal or toast again.

twofloorsup · 19/06/2017 17:23

Lorel No S isn't famous for quick results unfortunately but the peace around food that you end up with is worth the wait.

beela · 19/06/2017 19:25

Evening! How's it going?

My day has been good. Started a bit early (5.45) but I made it into a positive by doing a ripped in 30 workout before it got too hot. My only slip-ups have been 2 of DD's quavers (she insisted), and a piece of pasta and scrap of chicken whilst making the DCs' tea. Other than that it's been breakfast, lunch, and lots of water. Looking forward to my evening meal now though!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 19/06/2017 19:33

Day 1 done! Apart from the massive mug of milky tea I'm about to consume. Dinner was venison sausages, oven chips and salty garlicky buttery edamame beans. Mmm. Exercise zilch. I'm going to dig out my weights and get everything ready to exercise before work.

Hope everyone is doing well today!

lorelairoryemily · 19/06/2017 19:47

Thanks two that's ok I can wait!! I had a good day, 2 weetabix with half a banana for breakfast, whole meal pitta pocket pizza for lunch, prawns, salad yougurt and baby rice cakes for dinner, a cup of green tea and water to drink, I think that's ok?! No snacks, no sugar, first day in a year that I haven't had a fizzy drink

beela · 19/06/2017 20:23

Well done cheddar and lorel! They sound like great first days.

Watch out for the sugar headaches lorel. I really struggled to begin with but it only took a few days to get rid of the craving for sugary drinks.

beela · 19/06/2017 20:24

Oooops, and mycat and mummybear!

lorelairoryemily · 19/06/2017 20:26

Thanks beela! I thought I'd have a banging headache today... So far so good but I'll be expecting it tomorrow!!

twofloorsup · 19/06/2017 22:12

Good day all round Smile
I had a good day. Breakfast then half my lunch before a brisk 2 mile walk.
Was too busy to have the other half of lunch but I think I made up for it with ribena. Which I know is full of sugar but it's so hot !
Got a headache now but I think that's the heat more than anything.
Having removed my fitness pal I feel already much more free and less tormented. Funny how the brain works Smile

MyCatSydney · 19/06/2017 22:23

End of Day One and have earned my halo. Three meals, each one plate, no seconds, sweets or snacks. So happy because I didn't believe I could do this so happy I was wrong. I think this has to be one day at a time. Halo

beela · 20/06/2017 19:35

That's brilliant mycat! Hope today went as well as yesterday.

Well dome two, especially on the walking in the heat.

I've been really hungry today but have managed to resist. Partly the thought of having to come and fess up on here! I did my ripped in 30 dvd this morning again as well. Now cooking Joe Wicks' Filipino curry for tea. And quite tempted by the bottle of cider in the fridge....

How's everyone else?

twofloorsup · 20/06/2017 19:47

I suffered big time for my sunshine walk. Headache for 24 hours despite necking painkillers.
Had to split lunch today in order to fit in a swim but I probably ate more as a consequence.
I'm waiting til I'm properly hungry to have dinner or it's a waste.

Mummybear1984 · 20/06/2017 19:58

Hi everyone.

Well done beela for fighting those cravings. Hope you feel better two. Well done for swimming with your headache.

I weighed in this morning and had lost 4 1/4lbs so I was happy yet I've eaten loads of crap tonight and had a really unhealthy dinner. Feel crap now- why do I do it!!

Currently toying with the idea of going for a run to try and undo some of the damage!!

Tomorrow's a new day and determined it's going to be a good one!!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 20/06/2017 20:14

Hello everyone, I haven't read the full thread, sorry!
Could someone explain it to me briefly, please?
I'm overweight and have decided enough is enough.
Thank you
