Ariston I can only echo what beela has said. You have made so much progress but lifelong habits are not going to be straightforward to fix. I have learnt from the NoS forum that it is completely normal to have several setbacks on the path to moderation, each time you manage to get back on track though you will be just that bit stronger. Don't give up, you can do this.
Have a good weekend everyone.

At the risk of sounding like a parrot Ariston I'd say exactly the same.
Keep going. Don't give up.
Out of the days you've been doing No S I'll bet it's only a small percentage that haven't been bang on.
Come on you can do this. Check in here regularly and we can all support you. I'd have given up ages ago if it wasn't for all of you.
Have a fab weekend all , I'm going to take my lovely dad out for lunch today Smile

PosiePootlePerkins · 17/06/2017 07:35

Have a nice time with your dad twoSmile

Thank you all so much 💐 I'm not going to give up, but I'm disappointed that I can revert so quickly into bad habits. I've had the week at home due to my child being ill. Yesterday my youngest has got ill too. When I overeat I can feel myself getting more depressed and then self medicate with more food that makes it worse, I get major sugar slumps. I shouldn't do it!! I need to start the day well today. My dh is coming home today, he lives away and sadly him coming home often brings more stress. I have done well, I've always been good at losing but equally good at gaining. I'm a major yo yo dieter. I hope this diet of moderation will work in the long term.
Rally thank you for your support, I've said before, it's great I can be honest on here, I find some of the issues with food and overeating very difficult to admit to with friends and family.
Enjoy your lunch with your Dad Two. Everyone enjoy your weekend 💐💐 I'm going to try and make it a no S weekend after the week I had.

beela · 17/06/2017 08:28

I wouldn't have lasted this long without you lovely lot either.

I'm going to try to be no s today too, had a bad day yesterday, finishing up with a bowl of crisps for tea!

twofloorsup · 17/06/2017 08:35

Ariston I don't think people understand eating disorders unless they've lived through them.
I'm extremely conscious of getting back to my old ways and that causes me anxiety sometimes as I remember all too well how much hold food had over me. It scares me and I don't want to go back.
I'm sure this is just a blip and you can get yourself back on track. I understand the other half stress. Having now been single for several years I could never go back to sharing my kids my life and my home.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

PosiePootlePerkins · 17/06/2017 09:49

Ariston it does sound as if you have a lot going on right now, just try and be kind to yourself and do the best you can. No point being hard on yourself when things are hard enough anyway.Flowers for you and take care of yourself.

Ariston I'm exactly the same. For the last few weeks I've been following slimming world losing slowly and in a few weeks lost a lb, gained 2, lost them and then last week I gained 4 1/4 lbs in a week! That prompted me to change my habits so hopefully this week will be a good loss and I will start managing my sweet tooth and binge eating/comfort eating.

Have a good day everyone x

GoatsInATree · 17/06/2017 11:36

Thanks for the welcomes and very helpful replies that have convinced me that this is the right thing for me.

I need to do a grocey shop on Monday, will start on Tuesday.
In the meantime I'm going to cut back on day lon eating. Had breakfast this morning, won't eat again until lunchtime. I may have a small snack this afternoon as dinner will be late today. Same tomorrow.
Have a good weekend everyone!

AristonAndOn · 17/06/2017 12:27

Hi Goats, that sounds like a good plan. It does take a bit of an adjustment regarding eating only 3 meals if you are used to snacking. I have used to that now, but I get cravings now which aren't the same as hunger and I find them much harder to deal with!
Hi Mummybear, I've had great success with slimming world, but it is my comfort eating that is the problem. I'm confident that over time my issues with food will ease with this diet, especially with the lovely ladies on here. 💐

twofloorsup · 18/06/2017 10:57

Morning all.
I made the mistake of entering my food into my fitness pal app yesterday.
It told me the rate I'm going I'm only going to gain weight.
So now I've got my diet head on again and I'd got so relaxed about eating anything rather than "can't eat that too high fat/calories etc"
I feel a bit back to square one. Part of me says delete the app the other part says a bit of awareness can't be a bad thing.

Mummybear1984 · 18/06/2017 16:16

Two I am the same. Struggling as I'm not snacking but still worry am I eating too much/ not enough etc to lose weight. It's a constant worry 😔

Mummybear1984 · 18/06/2017 16:16

FOOD dominates my life! I think about it all day. What and when should I be eating to lose weight!!

PosiePootlePerkins · 18/06/2017 16:33

I would advise trying to stay away from my fitness pal or other similar apps. The whole spirit and ethos of NoS is not needing to count anything other than plates, so that you don't trigger 'diet head'. Speaking personally, if I am not losing weight I am maintaining, which has completely ended the yoyo diet cycle for me. I guess its worth asking what you gain by counting calories, and what you gain by not. So although an awareness of calorie intake may be helpful at times, the peace of mind gained by not worrying about it is worth more to me. If that makes sense.
Maybe its more helpful to look at what is on your plate, try and make sure a good proportion is fruit or veg, healthy protein to fill you up, and I always have carbs in one shape or form.
I guess for me the end result of feeling more relaxed and content around food is why I have stuck with NoS all these months, even though I haven't had fast weight loss.
Mummybear I used to be like that, I always thought I was addicted to food and would obsess about it constantly. I do still think about it now but more in a planning ahead to the next meal kind of way. I think I enjoy my meals all the more because I really look forward to them now. Give it time, you will notice a change in your thought patterns over time.
Anyway enough ramblings from me! I am taking my boys out for pizza in a bit, looking forward to it, don't fancy cooking in such a hot day. Hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine.

beela · 18/06/2017 16:53

Two, you have been losing weight though, haven't you? I'd step away from the calorie counting if I were you. Delete!

I feel as though I've been very snacky and sugary today. I didn't get much sleep last night (thanks for that dc) and when I am really tired I use sugar rather than caffeine to keep me going. I think it'd a habit picked up from my breastfeeding days - dc1 was a terrible sleeper until he started school and I was always tired but didn't dare risk anything which might keep him awake!

However, I won't stress it too much - it is an S day after all - and actually it's interesting to realise that until January I was eating like this most days.

Enjoy the pizza posie!

MyCatSydney · 18/06/2017 16:59

Hi. I am totally desperate and need help in losing weight. I am now in a size 24, probably have hit 20 stone and 5ft 5", I say the last time I weighed in at Weightwatchers I was 19st 8lbs and now I am scared to look. I am familiar with No S and wonder if you all think I should give it another go. I really am at my wits end, I have tried every diet invented and I must confess to bingeing these days. I have got to stop this destructive path, my health is as stake, I don't recognize my own reflection, I have lost 'me'. My quality of life at this weight is nil.

beela · 18/06/2017 18:50

Mycat Sad yes come and join us.

I am no expert but one of the appeals of no s for me is that it is so straightforward and for me it has naturally led to more healthy eating as well.

I might bore you all with daily updates again next week if you don't mind. I need the accountability! Anyone want to join me? Newbies?

MyCatSydney · 18/06/2017 19:12

Thank you Beela. I really need to join you all and I think daily updates for me will help too! I will begin tomorrow morning and give it my best shot. Halo

PosiePootlePerkins · 18/06/2017 19:56

Welcome Mycat please come and join us. I think NoS could be just what you're looking for! It is a sustainable way of eating for life, not a quick fix diet. Post for support, that's what we're here forSmile
Beela yes do go ahead, I shall look forward to reading your updates!
Pizza was lovely and I have to confess to 3 coursesBlush Couldn't help myself. Feel very full now. Ah well it was definitely an S day, back on it tomorrow.

twofloorsup · 18/06/2017 20:07

Mummybear I'm really "into" food too and I feel that I need huge meals as I'm only getting 3 a day !!

Posie I know you're right about the app. It has been interesting to see how little iron I'm getting and how much sugar in eating despite being No S Shock it has opened my eyes to how little nutrition knowledge I actually have, which is awful as I'm a school cook paid to provide healthy meals !!
I'm going to focus on trying to base my meals on vegetables/ salad and try to lay off the butter and full fat milk and cream.

Beela I did lose some weight initially but I am stuck at about a stone heavier than I'd like. I also used to rely heavily on sugar when tired but now I lean towards toast or carby cereals. (Not ideal I know).

MyCat please do join us the more the merrier. I think daily updates are really helpful not only to ourselves but to each other.

Ariston hello over there hope you're ok lovely Flowers

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/06/2017 20:14

Please may I join too? I was on a No S thread with Posie from Oct-Dec, but my mince pie habit scuppered me. I didn't lose a single pound in all that time but I did get much better at not snacking and seriously cut down the sweets. However, I thought I might have another go with one tweak - two meals a day on N days. I've been trying to do that every day (and keep to 1200 calories) but I keep falling off the wagon at weekends, so I might as well formalise it! My weekends will be Friday and Saturday because I usually have an exercise class in a Sunday afternoon so it makes me eat less. Class is about to stop for the summer, though!

twofloorsup · 18/06/2017 20:30

Welcome tooextra Smile

MyCatSydney · 18/06/2017 20:31

You are all so kind and welcoming, thank you. I need to get the three meal a day habit ingrained and then make those meals healthier. I really need to get moving too. Good luck to you all this week. Smile

twofloorsup · 18/06/2017 20:33

MyCat I didn't get moving til I'd done three months of No S and it's only now 5 months in that I'm starting to enjoy exercise and prioritise it.
It will come don't worry.

PosiePootlePerkins · 18/06/2017 20:47

Hey welcome back cheddar! Nice to hear from you. Hope your mod works for you, sounds like a good plan.
MyCat yes just focus in the habits first of all. The rest will follow.
Exercise is still my nemesis. I need to do something at home in the evenings as its the only realistic time to do it. Shall I start off aiming for 3 times a week? Any ideas what? Can't cope with anything too extreme. (See I'm already making excuses, I bloody hate exercise) You will all have to nag me as I have a huge mental block about getting motivated. I know that its my next challenge and will hopefully help kick start the weight loss again.
