Hello all and well done on weight loss / food stress losses!

I had a bit of a blip yesterday and ended up snacking on toast in the afternoon. I'm trying not to get despondent, marking it and moving on. I'm just aware I'm not doing as well as I could be with this. I don't know why I do it - have a teeny lunch and end up ravenous come 4 o'clock! I've had a bigger brekkie today (three pieces of peanut butter and jam on wholemeal toast - I know the jam isn't great, but I don't have it often and I'm just trying to crack the snacking habit now before I mess about worrying about nutrition). Now I'm wondering if I actually should have had a small breakfast and then been hungrier at lunch so I eat more and then don't snack in the afternoon... hmmmm.

I have a lovely veggie soup already made for lunch and am making a thing called briam for dinner, which is a Greek roast veg dish. We will probably have it with some bread and salad.

beela · 04/04/2017 09:54

Hello, just checking in.

In some ways I feel as though I'm starting to crack this. The compulsion to eat all the time is certainly reducing! But in other ways maybe I'm getting a bit complacent so I think I need to go back to the website and reset myself.

I maintained this week, but we're off on holiday on Friday so I need to be fully on track for that Grin

Hope everyone is having a good week. To the newbies.... don't be too hard on yourselves, it takes a while for old habits to be broken and new ones to take hold.

rivierliedje · 04/04/2017 16:17

Day two going better than yesterday. I'm at home today, but had to go in to the office for a little bit. Managed to avoid the easter eggs on the desk again. And now I'm home I made tea instead of eating something like I would otherwise. I'll have dinner sometime after six. That seems reasonable and is only a short while to wait.

twofloorsup · 04/04/2017 21:36

I'm finding that where I'm so busy again I'm leaving dinner decisions til gone 8 at night so I'm well past cooking (not got much in anyway) and end up with toast and yogurt despite having a sandwich for lunch.
I've been saying this for weeks but must get more organised around dinner !
Well done everyone I love that this is so positive Smile

AristonAndOn · 04/04/2017 21:47

Rockaby, perhaps you should increase your lunch size? I have full dinner sized plates of food for all my meals to make sure I stay full and satisfied! I don't make them full of diet food, but I do include salad or fruit on the plate just for the health aspect.

twofloorsup · 04/04/2017 22:24

I agree with the huge plates of food.
Especially at the beginning.
I'm not so bad now, I seem to have lost the "oh my god I'm going to starve" gene Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 05/04/2017 18:40

Evening all! Hope everyone's week is going well. I am on the countdown for Easter holidays, I am lucky enough to work term time so am looking forward to 2 weeks off. We'll be going to Spain for 3 nights after the Easter weekend, I feel that will be my first real test of NoS. I am plodding on quite well. Had takeaway curry last night but stuck to one plateful.

OP posts:
twofloorsup · 05/04/2017 20:43

Ooh Posie I'm a term timer too.
Except for 5 days a year so I'm working Monday.
I wish I was going away Grin

Pleasedontbelikeme · 05/04/2017 22:40

Ooh Spain sounds nice Posie.... what happens with NoS and holidays?? We're already in our Easter break here. Unfortunately, I work at home, so rather than a nice break, it generally means trying to work with a house full of 8-10 year olds, which to be fair, is easier than trying to work with a single bored 8 year old, which is why I allow it... Anyway, next week he's going kyaking for a few days, so at least that'll get him out of the house for a bit Grin. No holidays for me sadly, DH is abroad at the moment visiting FIL who is very ill Sad. It's not very likely we'll get away together until October.

Anyway, No_S business is still chugging along nicely, fruit yoghurt and a slice of toast for breakfast, leftover homemade spag bol (with tonnes of veg) for lunch and a chicken stirfry and noodles for tea. I think/hope I'm getting the balance right with portion sizes now. Not enormous, but enough so I'm not starving Grin

twofloorsup · 06/04/2017 06:52

I just carry on as usual in the holidays and then there's no "getting back on the wagon" like I ended up doing on slimming world.
Sorry about FIL hope he gets well soon.

beela · 06/04/2017 06:59

Morning! We're off on holiday for a week tomorrow. I'm planning to stick to it as normal. We're going in the UK so at least there won't be the need to cool down with a million ice creams!

Riversleep · 06/04/2017 11:54

Hi all, Im doing well with the no snacking buit and the no seconds, but I did succumb to a Mcdonalds yesterday with the kids, and won 2 apple pies on that monopoly game. Gave one each to the DC's but they only ate half, and I hadnt had a Mcdonalds apple pie for ages, so i ate the leftovers. it came back to bite me on the bum when DS2 was spectacularly sick when he got home. Apparently a McDonalds apple pie on top of a chocolate milkshake isnt a good idea!

PosiePootlePerkins · 06/04/2017 19:42

Think I am going to stick to no snacks as I would at the weekends, and maybe have seconds/sweets at meals. No idea if that's how you do NoS holidays! But we're only away for 3 nights and I'd like to have a few treats.
Feel really drained today, have had a glass of wine and am resisting the munchies, my period plus tiredness and stressy day at work makes me want to snack!

AristonAndOn · 06/04/2017 23:01

All these holidays, have a great time everyone! 👍🏼🎉🍹

rivierliedje · 08/04/2017 09:33

Hope you're all having a good time on holiday!

Weigh in day for me today (a day early as I can't do tomorrow) and I'm down just under a kilo, which I'm really pleased with. I don't expect it to be that much every week of course, but it's a nice start!

twofloorsup · 08/04/2017 10:36

Well done rivier Smile
I'm thinking about making a sugar free fruit cake but am wondering if I would just be undoing all my hard work ? As it is full of fruit and nuts and fruit juice I wouldn't know whether to count it as S or just not even go there ?

Hulaballoo · 08/04/2017 19:58

Hi can I join here too 🙂 I'm going to start this tomorrow..Mixed with the 8 hr diet...So no breakfast, then lunch, dinner and no eating after 9...Hoping something will come off. 😥

twofloorsup · 08/04/2017 22:11

Welcome Hulaballo.
What's the 8 hour diet ?

Hulaballoo · 08/04/2017 23:20

Hi, the 8 hr diet is where you Eat between 8 hours let's say between 12 pm and 8 pm, but no eating then until 12 the next day. It cab between 9 and 4... The 8 hour gap to suit you. You can snack but that's why I'm combining both...There needs to be a 16 hour fast period but you can Eat what you like and include 8 super foods on the list... Can't remember at the top of my head.

twofloorsup · 09/04/2017 08:24

Ah right. I do the opposite of that so my eating window is 16 hours.
I'd never survive otherwise Smile

Hulaballoo · 09/04/2017 09:48

It's really not too bad 😁I think with all these types of diets, you get used to it. The 8hr one doesn't have to be daily but at least 3 times a week... So if you have breakfast on one day it's not the end of the world. Saying that I'm finding day 1 hard being the weekend and kids and dh having breakfast. It does make meet feel more energetic for some reason though.

Riversleep · 09/04/2017 10:03

Oh I do that anyway on work days. Don't normally have time for a proper breakfast so eat at 11, then have dinner at 6ish. Obviously the chocolate bars weren't helping but I did lose weight despite that! Didnt realise it was a diet so with the no snacking thing, I could join you Smile I went ott yesterday with cake, ice cream and biscuits so I probably need to calm down a bit on the 's' days Grin

Riversleep · 09/04/2017 10:05

hullabaloo could you do breakfasts at the weekend with family, then just do the week on the 8 hours? That might help with the watching everyone else eat breakfast thing.

PosiePootlePerkins · 09/04/2017 19:03

Hi all. I have had a very S few days. Starting Friday when I lost the plot and have not exactly been in control this weekend. Annoyed with myself but and marking and moving on, back on it tomorrow. I think I need to take the pressure off myself in terms of losing weight and just focus on eating with moderation. If I maintain then so be it. Its still better to be in control of my eating and maintain, than to be out of control and gain.
Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

OP posts:
twofloorsup · 09/04/2017 23:35

Posie have you thought about not weighing yourself ? Just for a while ?

The reason I ask is when I followed slimming world i would rather have died than not get weighed but now I generally don't it has taken the pressure off. Just a thought.

Don't be too hard on yourself.
