Two funny you should mention that but it has been something I've been wondering. I get on the scales every day and I'm thinking maybe I should just go cold turkey and stop. Or maybe weigh monthly. That seems like a really scary thought though! Yesterday we went to the beach and I put on some shorts that were really tight last summer, they fit me comfortably. That's the kind of measure of success I know I should be using, but its hard when you're stuck in the scales mindset! I know this diet is about more than weight loss and I need to stop worrying about every pound and half pound.
I am getting my Invisalign braces fitted today! So that's definitely going to help me get back on track with no snacks.
Thanks for the supportSmile

You're welcome.
I honestly think it would benefit you at this stage.
Try it. You can always drag them back out again Smile

riversleep I think that's a good idea, I'm just worried that I'm going to let it all slip too much at the weekend but I'd like to join in with the kiddies at the weekend... Good idea. Easter hols now...Killer on my willpower, need to keep busy. 🙂 I'm happy I did a No S day yesterday... But failed on seconds...It was just plain salad, felt bad it was ending up going to the bin, figured it was healthy vits, no sauce or anything....So probably a healthy fail lol. Gl on today everyone...Day 2 for me... X

beela · 10/04/2017 08:40

Just popping in to say hi as this thread fell off my 'I'm on' list Shock having a good hol with not too many Ss so far..... Even refused an ice cream at the beach! DH was a bit Hmm but I had a bottle of water instead (and a lick of dd's ice cream when it started melting) and didn't feel at all deprived. Result.

Hulaballoo · 10/04/2017 13:59

Wow well done!! I love ice cream, not sure how you resisted I'm impressed 👍
Just wondering how big is a plate when it comes to oats so simple sachet...? Can I have more than that? 😐

twofloorsup · 10/04/2017 15:17

Hulaballo I have a massive bowl of porridge for breakfast and it's full of nuts seeds and dried fruit to keep me going. I think as long as it goes in one bowl you're fine.

AristonAndOn · 10/04/2017 20:35

Ha ha, I sometimes put my bowl on a dinner plate and fill round the edges 😁😁

PosiePootlePerkins · 10/04/2017 22:13

Ariston I do that! Cereal bowl in the middle and toast around the edge. Have been doing it for 6 months and it works for me. Keeps me going until lunchtime.
Finally had my first set of Invisalign braces fitted today! My mouth is a bit sore but in terms of NoS there has been no choice, I have to stick to no snacks as I only take them out to eat meals. So I am back in track!
Beela glad you're having a good time, and well done for resisting temptation!

Ooh great idea ariston 👍

twofloorsup · 11/04/2017 08:55

I do the bowl and plate thing too Grin

AristonAndOn · 11/04/2017 13:07

I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Good luck with the braces Posie.
I've fallen off the wagon badly again. I seem to every 4 or 5 weeks. I'll try and get back on quickly. It's when I'm out of normal routine it happens and the lure of chocolate today 😊

bowbear · 11/04/2017 13:50

Hi, very late to the party but can I join you all please? I've just been catching up with this thread and it looks like such a common sense easy plan to follow and hopefully maintain!
I've lost about 1.5 stone in the last six months by cutting out snacks - mainly due to some gruesome dental work :( Now that I've hopefully sorted out my dodgy tooth I'm desperate to avoid any further problems so cutting out snacks and sugary stuff seems like a lifestyle change that I need to make. I'd love to shed another 1.5/2 stone but happy to do it gradually and keep it off. I'm sure hearing how everybody else stays on track will be just the motivation and support I need :)

Headingtowardsforty · 11/04/2017 17:18

Please may I join too? I've been reading this thread, have tried so many diets and this just makes so much sense. I've been following it since yesterday and nearly 2 days done. Any advice from anyone?

twofloorsup · 11/04/2017 18:15

Welcome Heading and Bow.
My advice would be to take one day at a time and make sure you are definitely full after each meal as it will minimise the struggle to start with.

bowbear · 11/04/2017 19:05

Thank you Two. Good to have some tips :) I've been so traumatised by my tooth drama I'm too scared to eat between meals or hit the sugar at the moment! I guess that's why I think this plan will work for me.

I've done ww in the past which worked fine but I never managed to keep it off. What I need is a lifestyle change which I can sustain.
I like the idea of eating a decent amount at each meal in the hope of keeping hunger at bay and keeping me on track.

Tea is definitely my best ally to stop me feeling empty.

Headingtowardsforty · 11/04/2017 19:18

Thanks for the advice. I'm trying to fill up lots at mealtimes as I'm used to snacking, trying to drink water in-between as well, I know I don't drink enough as it is.

twofloorsup · 11/04/2017 19:42

It's a good diet.
I've gone from binge eating to pretty normal eating since New Year's Day and I've struggled for 25 years !!

PosiePootlePerkins · 12/04/2017 06:37

Welcome newcomers! My best advice for the first few weeks is to just focus on getting the habits down. Don't worry about weight loss too much in the early days, this has been a slow weight loss diet for me, but it has really helped me with my relationship with food. I have been a yoyo dieter for all of my adult life, and have finally found a way of eating I can follow for the rest of my life. Remember there are no restrictions on what goes on your plate, as long as there's nothing sweet, just enjoy each meal. A glass of milk or hot drink really helps between meals as you adjust.
Good luck!

Yes definitely tea. My other tip would be to make sure meals are nutritious. I get a lot further on something with plenty of protein, good fat, and veggies, than I would on a maccy d's or similar (though it's good to know that a maccy d's is allowed if I fancy it Grin)

I've been ok on hol - not totally no s but I've been much more moderate than I usually would.... e.g. a mouthful of someone else's cake rather than a whole piece to myself, etc.

Next week when we get back though I am going to add in some more exercise. 30 day shred starts on Monday! Then if I'm still alive I'll move onto ripped in 30. Eek.

twofloorsup · 12/04/2017 19:24

Beela I'm starting the gym next week too. I'm very much a beginner so will start with some gentle swimming and cycling and build it up from there.
I'm joining my daughter up with me and have promised to take her swimming regularly so I will be motivated by that initially Grin

beela · 12/04/2017 20:16

Well done two Smile swimming is a great way to start. I usually go once a week and do a mile but that's all I manage to stick to on a regular basis. I was doing a spin class on a Sunday morning too, but we had other things going on a couple of weeks in a row and I've gotten out of the habit.

So I'm going to do shred because I've got the dvd and know I can make myself do it at home. Now I've said it on here I'll have to Grin

Headingtowardsforty · 12/04/2017 20:37

Thanks for the ideas. Struggling a bit this evening, not actually hungry, but wanting to munch.

bowbear · 12/04/2017 20:43

Thank you Posie and Beela :)

It's going pretty well these last couple of days haven't been too hard at all .......so far, despite my lovely boss leaving a big Lindt bunny on my desk this morning!
Tea is definitely my saviour, but not worrying so much about what I'm having for my meals really takes the pressure off. Good luck with the new exercise regimes. My exercise revolves around dog walking but it would be good to mix it up with something a bit higher in intensity. Hope you're off to a good start too Heading :)

Headingtowardsforty · 13/04/2017 08:39

Feeling back in the right head space today. I did stick to just 3 meals yesterday in the end and proud of myself for doing so. I don't drink tea, so hoping that coffee is an okay substitution instead.

beela · 13/04/2017 16:20

heading I just said tea because I don't drink coffee! I'm sure either is fine. I usually have rooibos/herbal because I find caffeine makes me hungry.
