I love your catch-ups dawg, it's like on programs when they do a reminder.."previously on mfp thread..."😉
You sound like you're doing an awesome job, relaxing the reins a little but still keeping control (like that? I've gone all American) You might not think it but I definitely think you couldn't do much better, what with being away from home and in the land of plenty. Hope the next couple of weeks fly by.
I had a dreadfully munchy day yesterday, picky knickers that was me. Another gorgeous day and should be going for a walk in a while. Huge breakfast brought to me in bed, managed to feed a fair bit to my littler lady so I cut the calories a bit but then I tore into a box of fudge😩 Feel v bloated - looking forward to a very very clean & lean week with some gym classes thrown in

Daw I agree, you seem to have a sensible plan for America. No scales might be a good thing mentally, I bet you get back and find you have maintained. Hope it's still going okay there.

Decent day yesterday, helped by a very long run in the morning.

I've not logged onto MFP for 2 days. I'm a bit sick of it. I'm eating like a horse anyway and according to appetite, just not inclined to log at the minute. I'm not sure why.

Today-
B - bircher muesli, mango, raisins.
L - ham salad bagel, 2 falafels, 2 clementines.
D - veggie enchiladas and salad.
S - pile of cherry tomatoes, apple, cracker bread with almond butter.

Hope all is okay with you guys.

needastrongone · 27/03/2017 16:28

Fingers crossed you got over the munchies Not.

needastrongone · 27/03/2017 18:26

This quote came up on my Instagram feed and I thought most women ought to remember it, it probably applies to a lot of us.

Don't miss out on 95% of your life just to weight 5% less

Not2bObvious · 27/03/2017 19:24

It was a dreadful weekend for the wine and the munchies need, let's just say I definitely didn't let my wanting to lose 5% overtake 95% of life😉 Back to the gym for the first time in 2.5 weeks and yeah as tough as I thought it would be but I'm delighted I got it done. Piled back on the bloat over the weekend, I'm a bit thick aren't IHmm
You don't really have to use mfp need, you eat really well, you exercise to your limits and I'm assuming you're keeping your goal weight in sight

OP posts:
needastrongone · 27/03/2017 19:42

Grin Not. Nope you are not thick!!! Don't say that. You are back at the gym, you've not been well. The fact you've got out of the door and gone again is positive. Well done!

I just felt I was logging for the sake of it. I eat what I eat I guess and logging it won't change that. I agree, if I drop again then I'll log, as you correctly pointed out, I might be underestimating my intake.

Veggie enchiladas were a surprise hit, you didn't need the meat as they were so flavourful anyway. Even DS, a confirmed carnivore coped. Smile

Lolimax · 27/03/2017 21:51

Popping in to say hi. I'm so crap at this maintenance thing. Not loosing weight which is good but I'm still not eating enough either. I can't get over the 1400 cal hurdle. New Alta HR has helped as it's shown up my deficit- at least 500 calories today. That's probably quite a low one. I don't want to give up the exercise so now I have to work on what I can eat a bit more of. It also seems I've developed intolerances to some stuff, my tummy bloats very quickly now. I'm wondering whether it was because I cut out bread, pasta etc or was I always intolerant (I've always bloated) and didn't really realise? The last year I haven't suffered IBS issues at all.
Anyway DH on nights, that means a snore-free sleep if you ignore canine grunting and feline purring. I live a wild life.

Not2bObvious · 28/03/2017 08:57

Hi loli, nice to "see" you. You'll lose weight on 1400 over a few days, if you're noticing bloating then it's possible you're intolerant or could it be you're used to eating so little that a full tummy is being seen as bloated? I'm a ball of bloatey'ness but at least the scales is getting back on track, only 1.8 up on Fridays weight which I should shift and hopefully another bit by this Friday. Went out for a 40 minutes run/jog - covered close to 4 miles which is v good for me. My pace was pretty decent most of the way but there was a nasty long hill on the way home I had to jog up. My aim is a run or jog or walk every second day, gym on alternate days.
Back is creaky though, I'm an old crock!

I am eating my exercise calories but I am underestimating my exercise if that makes sense to be on the safe side (and often over-estimating my food). I know some people rigidly stick to the 1200 but I just can't do it.

MFP says my average daily calories has been between 1600-1700 since I started doing this 3 weeks or so ago and it seems to be leading to a loss so I guess it's OK with the exercise I'm now doing. I just need to curb my weekend binges and that would bring the average down a bit.

I find the afternoons at work quite difficult, I always feel hungry before tea time so I have to have some kind of healthy mid afternoon snack to keep me going. Anyone have any ideas for healthy filling snacks that are easily transportable? I need to stay away from the vending machine. Blush

Not2bObvious · 28/03/2017 20:29

Try (and I do say try) to train yourself out of snacking going, if you're hungry have some water or a hot drink. Make sure lunch consists of enough calories though, having a cuppa soup and an apple won't cut it. Some might say a piece of fruit but I find it makes me hungrier. At a push, some cold sliced meat/a cold boiled egg (that'll make you popular in the office) I would have said nuts but my personal experience is I eat a load of them and before I realise I'm 200 calories down and still hungry!
The more I try to lose weight the more I realise I succeed best at 2-3 meals a day and am evening snack keeps me from losing the plot.

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 28/03/2017 20:29

Kinda contradicted myself but 1 snack instead of 2-3 isn't that bad....is it😉

Morning all - I say all but it's a bit echoey in here. I'm scared to surmise that no news isn't good news from those of us trying to lose? Anyway I hope everyone is doing ok and comes back to check in if it helps.
I'm a slight bit up to 11.8.8 but that's most definitely due to v sluggish bowel over the last day. Extremely achey after gym and run so breaking my liquids before lunch rule so I can take a decent anti-inflammatory pill. It's a gym day today although I may have to work out at home as there isn't a class time that suits, some hiit with weights me'thinks

Morning! I'm stuck writing a report that includes sums all day so my head will be fried! Kettlebells later with my little gang (DD and 2 others in their early 20's) I do get a kick from being the old girl who keeps up! I've started looking at macros does anyone else do that?

Lolimax · 29/03/2017 09:45

Oh and where's everyone gone? We miss you.

needastrongone · 29/03/2017 16:03

I'm here, but my life is a bit boring as I am maintaining nicely and exercising as per usual.

Yesterday I ate and ate and ate and ate. I was so hungry. Today, I've really not felt like much. Which got me thinking whether you should not log on MFP for a while Loli, to break the 1400 cycle? You know roughly what you ought to be eating, so time to judge appetite?

goingonabearhunt1 · 29/03/2017 17:46

I only generally have 1 snack a day, in the afternoon as I eat my main meal quite late (do stuff after work most days). But yes I need to make sure it's not a KitKat or something! Experimenting with different lunches to see which fill me up the best at the moment.

How many calories are you all eating? MFP says 1230 for me but then it goes up with exercise which seems pretty doable.

Not2bObvious · 30/03/2017 08:08

I've been trying to stick to 1200-1400 during the week and then 1400-1600 on weekends but it's a challenge.
Still 11.8.8 this morning, had wine & nibbles watching catch-up tv last night. Did another run this morning, just over 40 minutes. Trying to recover after it and my shower, I'm like a 🍅

OP posts:
goingonabearhunt1 · 30/03/2017 10:08

I think I need to get my average down, according to MPF, my average calorie intake is 1600-1700 (has been between that for all the weeks since I've been tracking). It's the weekends that send it over so if I curb that, think I can get the average to 1500-1600. Last weekend was particularly bad as we went to Ikea and they have these almond pastry things I love in the food section. Blush

Not2bObvious · 01/04/2017 09:59

Ok - new month all, can we get going again? Do a kickstart week?
I'm doing medium to bad, although I have done done 2 x runs this week, 2 x gym classes but my eating and wine drinking has been quite disgraceful. My holiday is 1 week away and I'm back at 11.10 on my dodgy scales so that's really 11.12 I reckon. I'm feeling super chunky and bloated, although it is totm (which could explain the jump to 11.10, although I think it's more snack & gargle related) I have to say I felt very low about it last (again that's totm too)
BUT...what am I going to do? I can't give up and regress all the way back, I don't want to. So today I am going to:

  1. Have a 2 meal day
  2. Drink lots of water
  3. Wine x 2 with dinner, g&t for after

Morning everyone! Not are you eating enough/the right stuff? I've been looking into macros and am upping my calories whilst balancing my macros (have you heard of Richie Howey?). Also I'm not loosing weight as am on target but with all the exercise I'm doing my body shape is definitely changing- kettle bells is having an impact on this. Walk away from the wine and snacks this week or I'll shout at you in my convincing Welsh accent!

Not2bObvious · 01/04/2017 12:53

Hello loli, great to hear you're getting the right amount in. Am I eating enough - hella yes, Am I eating the right stuff...eh...most of the time yes but definitely finding wine and nutty/crackers v hard to resist. I have heard of RH, watched a fair bit on his fb, v funny tuned in guy. Have you signed up to his program? I know he says you can eat what you want once it fits your macros, I did watch them when I was doing bsd but now I just work on eating better food. Had my brunch now, sitting down with a cuppa before afternoon taxi service..sigh

OP posts:
Lolimax · 01/04/2017 13:25

Salty stuff is my big temptation. For someone who has spent a lifetime gorging on biscuits, cakes and chocolates it's not those I miss. I wander down the crisp aisle now in lust. It's funny how your tastebuds change isn't it? Have fun being a taxi. We're down our caravan so an afternoon walking the dogs on the beach ahead.

needastrongone · 01/04/2017 16:33

The core and weights definitely change your shape. Years ago I ran, but didn't do the cross training or core at all and I was no where near as toned as I am now, despite running an awful lot. However, the running is the fat burning stuff I guess.

I'm still here maintaining. I'm doing a very long run tomorrow (25 miles), as prep for our Three Peaks challenge in May. It's a very slow pace, with walking in parts. Time on feet rather than time on a clock. Lots of map reading etc. Should be fun. A new challenge.

Enjoy your time at the caravan Loli.

I'm not sure what to suggest Not. 1200 doesn't seem a lot to me, especially with the drink calories. But you've done this longer than I have and know more than I do, so no advice here to give!

Weird week here. Either starving hungry or not hungry at all. I've gone with the flow and eaten to appetite. Tried to make sure the stuff I eat is clean and good stuff. Added in some wine as my chill out time.

Just sorting out for tomorrow now.

JontyDoggle37 · 03/04/2017 08:05

Morning.
Joining back again. Definitely up for a kick off week challenge. Weighed in this morning and back up at 10.13.5, which is where I was at Christmas.... I've got. Wedding to go to in two weeks, so that's good motivation, and beach holiday two weeks after that, so there's no way I want to look like a human rubber ring by then 😱. Have changed my routine to help me stick to diet better - I've always found I'm more likely to lose weight successfully if I'm exercising properly at the same time, so I've been for a run this morning - only 1.4 miles, I'm going to build up to 2 miles over the next week or so and stick at that for distance, because I can do that in under twenty five mins before work in the morning. Got to pay lots of attention to nutrition and sleep though so I'm supporting myself to exercise and do my already really long days. Goal for this week is 4 pounds. I'm going to eat 1700ish on days I run (mon weds fri) and 1500 on days i strength train (Tues thurs). Weekends I'll eat 1800. Have made it very clear to husband I'm back on the wagon. Also aiming for no alcohol next two weeks to give me maximum chances of losing weight. Time to knuckle down...

JontyDoggle37 · 03/04/2017 21:34

Ooh tumbleweed...anyone there?😂
