Happy New Year Slenderistas.

Let's move away from the Christmas bugger and ditch Linda for good.

She is marrying my DP's best mate and doesn't have many friends, we invited them both to a christmas party and I drank far more Balies than anyone ever should.

She was going on about her hen party, not many people were going, she had no where to host it as her fiance would be using the house for his stag that night and blah blah blah, I was drunk and felt sorry for her so I offered. Woke up the next day to like 5 text's thanks for the offer would love to take you up on it blah blah. I couldn't exactly go back on my offer so it stands as such.

She is a bit on the rude side, at this party I had she said, very purposefully and totally out of the blue "I can't believe we are the ones getting married, when you's have been couples for so long" que awkward silence as the other 4 couples (who aren't even engaged) glance at each other. She has been with her partner about 2 years and the rest of us got together between 7 and 5 years ago. That was when I found the Balies.

Plus she double dipped in the salsa and put a money poem in the wedding invite...

Sorry for the rant I do feel better now though!

BitOutOfPractice · 04/01/2017 14:00

Double dipping and a poem. Two of the biggest crimes on MN!

Yes BOOP I did think that Blush I try not to be judgey but she rubs me the wrong way. As a couple they always seem to be breaking up and getting back together, the wedding has been called off twice Confused and they have blazing Jeremy Kyle style rows in public she hit him in a pub carpark once after he accused her of dancing with some bloke.

It is all a bit trashy and I don't want anything like that to happen in my house!

DP's best mate is a nice guy and they have been mates since they were kids, so I was trying to get along for their sake. Drunk me is very generous so now I have to host a hen party, for a girl I don't know particularly well or like that much!

BeyondTheStarryNight · 04/01/2017 14:44

Oh dear, good luck with that then hairspray! Offering out of politeness when drunk is exactly the type of thing I would do Grin

lastqueenofscotland · 04/01/2017 14:50

Oh god that sounds like a nightmare!!

Resisted the lure of a galaxy bar and feeling quite sated with my salad

HairsprayBabe · 04/01/2017 14:51

HA! I will most definitely need it Beyond GrinGrinGrin

KikisDeliveryService · 04/01/2017 15:50

Blimey hairspray! That sounds like it would be a good topic for its own thread! That doesn't sound a like it will be a fun experience sober - unless you live MN the evening!

I'm not doing dry Jan because (a) I didn't drink that much over the holidays, and (b) I have a postponed cocktail session booked in this month.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/01/2017 15:51

Please may I join? I have eaten everything in sight and am back at work and wept slightly at the scales this morning. I have put on 5lbs since mid-December, grr! I need to lose 2 stone by May 19th.

I am doing 5:2 and No S Diet combined, with no days off.

KikisDeliveryService · 04/01/2017 15:53

Welcome total, I am on the same regime. In fact I realised that I could easily make today an impromptu fast day. My body is so happy to ditch the gluttony!

KikisDeliveryService · 04/01/2017 15:55

Sorry tooextra - entirely misread your name there - stupid phone MNing. Really hoping I've got it right the second time...

teaping · 04/01/2017 16:07

Welcome tooextra! Best of luck.
I'm aiming to do 1.5stone by beginning of May so similar target. We can do it!

Hairspray I don't know what to say - what an absolute nightmare. I'd definitely only get through that if I had the support of wine!!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/01/2017 17:15

No worries, Kiki! Thank you and Teaping for the welcome!

I think weird hen parties can only be faced with wine, Hairspray, you definitely get a pass for that one!

Today is not going well - Nando's for lunch and DH has backed out of Shredding because the house is freezing, but tomorrow will be good. Fast day and morning Shred. Quite looking forward to it in a weird way.

lastqueenofscotland · 04/01/2017 17:19

Tooextra I look forwards to super virtuous days

I did cave and have a biscuit my colleague offered. But otherwise had a pretty good day!

QuimReaper · 04/01/2017 17:29

Hairspray Shock She sounds quite something! Why on earth do she and her DH have to have their stag and hens on the same night? My strategy would be to go OTT "hostess" and produce a positive barrage of fiddly canapés which require you to spend at least 3/4 of the evening in the kitchen. Jump up out of your seat every time she gets annoying and rush off to get more drinks. Being the host might actually make it a shade more bearable... But hells yes, you must take a night off the Dryness for that, you might even end up with a hangover so bad it propels you right into February Grin

Legend yes ys yes. I sometimes see people on 5:2 threads saying they're more productive and clear-headed on fast days, I am a complete scatterbrain and liable to become either rage-filled or tearful for little or no reason...

Welcome TooExtra, you sound like a woman with a plan!

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 04/01/2017 17:57

Hairspray that sounds awful! I think Quim is onto something with her suggestions TBH.

TooExtra welcome! Don't dispair, tomorrow is another day.

I can't face a dry January. I don't drink that much anyway..

Squiffy01 · 04/01/2017 19:23

When will thyou awful hunger pains end?! I have such a headache as well. Probably a sign of how much sugar and shit I have been eating for the last few months.

I feel a lot of drinking to get through this hay hen night is definitely a must. At least you were completely drunk when you offered I would likely get my self into that situation stone cold sober!

Somanyillustrations · 04/01/2017 19:55

4th dry day here today, have managed to stick to under 1200 calories too, which is a minor miracle!

Shit day in work, DS being awful at bedtime again, so concentrating very hard on how good it will feel to get back into my nice clothes- so desperate for a massive glass of Wine now...

Bootcamp class tomorrow, then another on Friday if I can face it.

Out for lunch on Saturday, but driving, so no booze, and planning to skip pudding.

Weighed in this morning at 10st 5lb, so 5lb down from Sunday Grin
Sure it is mostly water weight, but it brings me back to pre xmas weight at least. 5lb down, 16lb to go!

TheLegendOfBeans · 04/01/2017 20:01

So...I didn't drown but I've excercised my tits off today. And BOY am I out of practise which is shameful considering I was exercising regularly until Nov.

30min swim; 12k steps; w1r1 of C25k... anyone got any go to stretching guides as I'm scared of buggering myself up again by pinging my muscles x

QuimReaper · 04/01/2017 20:09

Crikey Somany that's amazing, 5lbs in 4 days! Wow!

It will definitely get easier Squiffy, I think we go into a "withdrawal" spell at first, it's so much easier after the first few days. One of the things I miss about my brief foray into ketosis was the absolutely non-existent appetite. I was restricting like mad, I was an absolute machine.

Legend you really ARE a legend, that is a colossal amount of exercise! You are definitely today's golden girl!

I've been a fasting hero and done about 14k steps, so I'm satisfied. I'm also knackered, so hoping to zone out pretty early and reset the insane broken sleep cycle I seem to be on. I wonder why so many of us are suddenly suffering with insomnia?

BeyondTheStarryNight · 04/01/2017 20:29

Woo, my Fitbit just buzzed that I'm at goal for today :)
in bed now as it's cold!

Noofly · 04/01/2017 20:45

I am now at 2 weeks since I had any caffeine or sugary snacks (biscuits/chocolates etc) so I'm hoping I'm safely past the cravings. I do have a whole heap of chocolates DH got me for Christmas but I'm hoping to have them in very small quantities over the course of February.

Admiring all of the exercising. I take the dog out for a decent walk every day but am allergic lazy to other forms of exercise. I just don't have any motivation.

BusterTheBulldog · 04/01/2017 21:46

5lbs down is amazing! Well done! I am 2lb down (though official weigh in Friday). I was naughty tonight and had chicken nuggets and chips for tea. 5k run and 30mins of circuits but not enough to counteract I fear...

lastqueenofscotland · 04/01/2017 22:04

Feeling quite good today - off to bed satisfied but not "stuffed" or "full" in a nice way and lunch is ready in the fridge for tomorrow.

This thread is already helping me keep on the straight and narrow. Going out for dinner tomorrow but checked the menu and there are some nice "lighter" options.

purpleshortcake · 04/01/2017 22:18

Insomnia here too...4th dry night. Maybe it is the effect of withdrawing the alcohol as a PP suggested Confused

Archduke · 04/01/2017 22:19

Crikey this thread is moving so fast! Will go back and catch up but am down a little bit!
