I weighed myself last Thursday and was 13 st 4Ib. i would love to get to 12st 7lb in the next month or so. Is that doable at age 48?

Have been wearing my christmas activity tracker watch all week and so far not got past 6,000 steps in any one day and currently looking at

whowantsadog · 12/01/2017 17:35

Thank you lovely people, some sound advice and will look into the 52 small changes thing. I know, it's ridiculous that I keep going back to SW. But I also kind of feel it's my last hope, it's basically about eating the food I like, I don't have to be hungry and really it should work and be sustainable. I think I'm just demoralised and don't believe it will ever work now. I lost a fair bit on a low carb diet, but I was veggie then and vegan now so there's no way that's sustainable. I feel like if I could just give myself a kickstart, a bit of a boost as proof that I am capable of losing weight, then I might be able to get on with it.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/01/2017 18:01

Who you can do it.

Cd that'll be tough but if you get a really big loss in your first week anything is possible.

And bloody hell quim that is real dedication to the cause. I'm surprised you didn't swim home

Fantastic news BOOP, Star for you.

And for you Quim, for your dedication. Grin

I have done OK this week, got my exercise bike out last night third time in 2 years... and have written a bike session into my diary for every Wednesday. Eating has been fine, scales are down another pound, hoping for more though.

KikisDeliveryService · 12/01/2017 18:22

Yikes quim, it's so grim out there that I'm about to order a taxi for a journey we would always normally walk, this is quite unheard of for me! You are clearly made of sterner stuff than I (or really my DS who's come home with a stinking cold today, poor chap).

Squiffy01 · 12/01/2017 19:44

Bit of a slow day for me , only 20k for steps and eating not amazing. Had a little bubble and squeak that I cooked at work Sad.
I did manage a great thing for me though. Went to get some nice chocolates for someone who has had a baby, my favourite shop. Didn't get anything for me!!! I'm still amazed.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 12/01/2017 19:59

I could seriously murder some chocolate. Sad Fast day - I'm not exactly hungry, I just want chocolate. I. Will. Stay. Strong. mainly because there's nothing much in the house

QuimReaper · 12/01/2017 20:08

Squiffy how on earth do you manage to whack up so many steps each day? I count 15k as a really good day!

Speaking of steps, I finally dusted off my old weighted hoop and did a bit of hooping just now, and I think the FitBit counted it as steps! Confused No bad thing since I'm under, I guess, and I suppose it probably burns about the same calories, probably a little more...

Squiffy01 · 12/01/2017 20:46

quim I'm a nanny so very active job. And I like to walk places so if going to a park 30 minutes a way we will walk there and back (plus all the running around when we are there. Then out somehere different in the afternoon. Barley get a chance to sit down these days Sad missing old job where one school age child

00100001 · 12/01/2017 21:49

I had a pack of crisps after dinner. I wasn't hungry and now I feel the regret after logging it in MFP and going over my calories.

00100001 · 12/01/2017 21:49

I might start adding food to MFP before eating.

lastqueenofscotland · 12/01/2017 21:53

I did ok on calories today, not as good as I hoped but I did run 7 miles and was fucking hungover

I have a real challenge this weekend as staying with a friend who is lovely but a real feeder. feel if I aim to be 142lbs by Monday and log everything on MFP I'll do ok!

ArseyTussle · 12/01/2017 21:57

Ooh, Quim, tell me about your weighted hoop! I've been thinking about getting a power hoop but don't know how effective they are.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/01/2017 23:10

I'm just back from the theatre with the kids. Nightmarish drive there in the snow. Roads completely clear when we got out.

We went for dinner beforehand. I had a pizza. Not great I know but I asked for it extra thin, left a big ring of crust, and had a veggie topping so I hope the damage isn't too great.

Binary I always log before not after. Sometimes that does stop me eating something I'll regret.

Yes quim tell is about your weighted hoop.

Lastqueen bloody well done for running with a hangover

BitOutOfPractice · 12/01/2017 23:13

Oh and I meant to say that today's NSV was someone saying to me "but there's nothing of you. You look great already". Ok do it was a bloke flirting so a blatant lie. But I'll take it.

OP posts:
lastqueenofscotland · 12/01/2017 23:19

Logging before is such a good idea why did I never think of that!

BitOutOfPractice · 12/01/2017 23:26

My daughter got given a load of cupcakes for her birthday. I really fancied one yesterday. So I looked up the calories first. 325 calories for a tiny cup cake!!! I'm so glad I hadn't eaten it first. I had a freddo instead for 95 calories.

Morning all

I've just lost it with dd1 (aged 11), we were spring cleaning her room (school hols still here) and she was doing absolutely stuff all, so I eventually after I shifted all the furniture, vacuumed, de-cobwebbed etc etc she rolled her eyes one too many times and the red mist descended; I tipped a bin bag of rubbish over her floor and marched out.

She is now doing it all beautifully whilst being helped by her younger sister. I am sitting in the dining room eating cherries and drinking coffee in the peace and quiet.

Food and exercise going ok, had a beach day yesterday, wading through waist high water is awesome exercise. Today it's pouring with rain so not sure what to do. I'm clearly not as committed as you Quim Grin.

Who you can totally do it! It's just a mindset thing. SW, 5:2, Clean Eating, MFP they all work, you just need to be committed to it. If you feel comfortable with SW stick with it but DO IT. Stop making excuses, get a really clear picture of how you want to be in 8 weeks time and go for it! We'll all support you y'know.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 13/01/2017 07:02

Well done Boop!

I tend to log my calories on MFP in the morning, so I know how much wiggle room I have that day. Obviously sometimes I go back and change things if my plans change, but I find it quite helpful.

No change here on the scales, I haven't had a great week exercise-wise or diet-wise, so not really very surprising!

BitOutOfPractice · 13/01/2017 07:45

Spuriouser at least it's not a gain.

I also put my food into mpf first thing because I think about food from the moment I wake so I know what I can do throughout the day.

BitOutOfPractice · 13/01/2017 07:46

And Archie as I look out of the window at the ice and snow, I do not want to hear about you on the beach thank you very much!

Archduke · 13/01/2017 07:57

My kids would love to see some snow boop. They are prob more envious of you. Well done on on the new stone bracket, fabulous work. Losing 3 stone is a huge achievement, how long has it taken you and have you had to buy a whole new wardrobe of clothes?

Chardonnay73 · 13/01/2017 08:20

0.5 Linda's lost so 6lb in 2 weeks 😇 Starting afresh with eating all my points and running today.
Happy Friday everyone 😬
