Happy New Year Slenderistas.

Let's move away from the Christmas bugger and ditch Linda for good.

Hello all, some fantastic losses going on, well done everyone. I think I have shed about 4.5 lindas but the majority of that was put on over Christmas. Blush

All the holiday talk is making me want one. Got nothing at all planned so far. Last couple of years it's been a few days in a Haven park but the weather both times has been rotten. Would love to go abroad for some sunshine but am apprehensive as it would be just me and the DSs - and DS2 can be really challenging (currently awaiting paed assessment). Haven seems safer somehow because if it all gets too much we can easily go home early!

QuimReaper · 11/01/2017 12:30

TooExtra oh my God I would LOVE to go to a trampolining class, is it good exercise? Where do you do it? That sounds so fun!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/01/2017 12:41

It's cardio plus flexibility, I think. Intense bursts of activity! A trampoline club operates out of the gym near me, and I signed the kids up and the first day I took them along I clocked an adults' class and promptly signed myself up. It is awesome! I have been doing it for nearly a year and can do a back somersault!

00100001 · 11/01/2017 13:45

I survived lunch - had halloumi and olive salad, and a small bowl of pea soup!

PurpleDaisies · 11/01/2017 13:50

Excellent binary! Halloumi is the food of the gods.

I can confirm that the sweetcotn soup recipe I linked up earlier is really nice. I didn't stick to quantities perfectly, used tinned sweetcorn and no red pepper but the smoked paprika and jalepeno peppers make it properly delicious. Overdid it with the chilli a bit though and my nose was streaming.

Turkey chilli tonight. Loving the spice here!

HairsprayBabe · 11/01/2017 14:06

OH! I just remembered I was supposed to put my recipe for beetroot falafel up!

250g beetroot
200g chickpeas
2 shallots
big bunch coriander
1 tsp chilli flakes
1 egg
pinch of salt
pinch of pepper
4-6 tbsp of gram flour (you can use regular flour but it will make it more carby)

Blitz fresh ingredients all together in a food processor on pulse till you get a fine chop - not too runny!
Put into bowl and stir in the egg
Slowly add gram flour 1 spoon at a time till you get a good consistency
Grease a muffin tin (12 holes) I used a few sprays of frylight for ease
Spoon the mix into the muffin tin bake at 200C for 25-30 mins

Also nice cold the next day for lunch if you can avoid eating them all!
59 calories per falafel 708 for the whole recipe.

BitOutOfPractice · 11/01/2017 14:31

Oh that sounds great. Presumably you use fresh beetroot?

OP posts:
HairsprayBabe · 11/01/2017 14:37

I used a pack of the pre cooked steamed beetroot, the vacuum packed ones I think my food processor would have a hard time with raw!

BitOutOfPractice · 11/01/2017 17:08

OK, I see. I am deffo going to try that!

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 11/01/2017 17:13

Me too-I love beetroot. Jamie Oliver also has a nice recipe for broad bean falafel.

QuimReaper · 11/01/2017 18:50

PurpleDaisies apparently chilli stimulates your system into metabolising more fats, so no bad thing!

Well, I seem to have got my period today. This is very strange as I've been on the DEPO injection for years and I only had my last shot less than four weeks ago, so it's rotten and unfair and highly irregular Confused I was just in the library thinking "hmm, these cramps feel a bit like period pains", went to the loo and lo and behold they were.

Very very light so I hope it'll sort itself out in a couple of days, but maybe I'll get a super-loss on Friday morning if I've been retaining? Seems unlikely but I can dream Grin

Urgh. Am pissed off. Have been golden and 6/8 points under each day. No loss since Friday 😔

Archduke · 11/01/2017 20:36

Don't fret Chardonnay, I feel your pain but it will go. Honestly, if you've been golden then it's basic biology; less fuel in - more lard off Grin. Just might take a while for your body to catch up.

Cheddar the trampolining sounds heaps of fun, my dds have a trampoline here, I should get on it, if I can bounce without weeing myself. I have started a running group with a few school mums, we had our inaugural meeting last night and ran 6.6kms straight off! I'm only on w8 of c25k, and I just kept going. I was so amazed that I could do it. TBF one of the women is super fit and she kept us all running our little socks off.

However I do seem to have gone up a 100gms or so, but am steadfastly ignoring it.

QuimReaper · 11/01/2017 20:38

Chardonnay how disappointing, especially after sticking at it over the weekend. You know these things happen though, we all get stalls but they come loose eventually - just hold on and wait for the whoosh, it'll come. Are you measuring as well as weighing? I bet you've come down a bit on the old waist.

I've been rubbish with steps this week - under goal Monday and today, and can't see myself getting many more in this evening. I hope to do better tomorrow but apparently it's going to be absolutely freezing and possibly snowy here, which doesn't tend to do much for my desire to go a-wandering, let alone swimming... This is one of my worst exercise weeks in ages! At least I haven't fallen off the wagon food-wise.

Also demonstrated immense restraint in refusing a theatre ticket from a friend for tomorrow night because I knew it would involve food and wine Halo I'm not normally so stiff about these things but now I've got a four-golden-day run in my head I'm determined to pull it off! Am also utterly skint after Christmas, and didn't really want to shell out for the ticket...

Squiffy01 · 11/01/2017 20:46

Gosh lots to read today. Everyone is doing so well. I haven't been back to the gym - I am so knackered it is ridiculous was in bed at 9 last and am I already in bed for tonight.
My walking is good though 20k + every day 30 one day which hasn't happened for awhile.
I'm getting really slack at tracking my calories, I know round about what I eat and I have been staying mostly on track but it's the little bites of things that will do me in so I must start doing it properly again.

Archduke · 11/01/2017 20:49

Squiffy 20 - 30K steps per day is amazing, well done.

KikisDeliveryService · 11/01/2017 20:57

Anyone who's had a few golden days with increased exercise - if your muscles ache at all then you'll be retaining extra water, enough to make it look like you've gained on the scales. Keep going and when the aches go so will the water retention and all your hard work will pay off.

I am sore in so many places! Yoga class was hardcore yesterday.

BitOutOfPractice · 11/01/2017 21:22

I can certainly still feel that spin class in my legs!

I have had a golden day here but it's not showing on the scales. Bloody frustrating.

I can report that the squaffles were swaffly nice actually

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 12/01/2017 07:43

Morning all! Not had a very successful couple of days, I've had a bad cold so I have spent all my spare time hibernating on the sofa and comfort eating. I'm feeling better this morning though so I am doing a fast day today. Well done to everyone who has been more successful and has seen losses!

Pinkvici22 · 12/01/2017 08:09

Morning everyone!

Fast day for me today. Having berries and low fat Greek yoghurt for breakfast, no lunch, tomato and basil soup with ryvita for tea. Taking a pear and a boiled egg to work in case I get desperate!!

I'll drink loads of water and have maybe 2 cups of tea/coffee.

Haven't weighed at all this week, but I'm definitely feeling better, less bloated and I think my skin is looking a bit brighter.

Desperately hoping for a loss by the weekend!

HairsprayBabe · 12/01/2017 08:13

Morning Slenderistas!

12.4 again this morning after walking +10k steps yesterday and being positively diamond on the food front I am a little less than pleased with sticky lindas.

Never mind I have climbing this evening so fingers crossed my body is gearing up for a bit of a woosh?

BitOutOfPractice · 12/01/2017 08:27

Morning! Brrr! It was a chilly school run this morning.

The bloody scales won't bloody move damn them!

OP posts:
lastqueenofscotland · 12/01/2017 09:03

I did not have a good day yesterday, was going so well till one drink with friends ended up with many many drinks and midnight pizza... Thankfully scales weren't too awful.

Determined to be good today!

KikisDeliveryService · 12/01/2017 09:42

Scales are not being my friend at the moment. Argh, just got to keep going. I am officially back in 'overweight' category and whether BMI should be taken notice of or not it does still grate.
