I think you're dead right sugar, maintenance for the next week is a great plan.
Welcome scandi, you're doing great getting the first few pounds off and moving into a new stone bracket. Best of luck & tonnes of support here when you need it.
I didn't make it to my class, was utterly exhausted & then ended up on a phone call that delayed me so it was out of hands. But I hope to have burned a few calories hoovering/changing beds/dusting (more strenuous in the dump of a house than you'd think!) Now I'm sipping a smidge of sav blanc while cooking dinner.
Just about to break into my advent calendars!! Excited after seeing your comment need, got loccitane & marks one - ooh excitement!

I meant next few weekssugar, d'oh, just read it back and sounded like the queen of dieting bequeathing you a week off👑

Sugarandsalt · 01/12/2016 18:23

That could be a new user name not! Queenofdieting!

Needastrongone · 01/12/2016 18:35

Not I hope you like the calendar gift. I'll share that I got a sea salt scrub in my Sanctuary one (as you don't have it) and I can't wait to have a bath.

I hit 45 next January, and the whole fitness thing, shed the lb's and take care of myself thing seems more important at this stage. Just can't get away with it anymore!

I've bought a set of loccitane 'crackers' for small gifts for folk.

Not2bObvious · 01/12/2016 19:31

2 blooming hand creams! And I'd just nutrogene'd my mitts! Ahh they're lovely though, my dds were so excited about them - more than me tbh. Going to defo keep the m&s box, be really handy to refill it next year for them

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 01/12/2016 20:20

Wow so many updates in a day Grin.

Quick thank you all from my dying tooth for the sympathy Flowers. Need that is really helpful - I'm already thinking I will ask my dentist can I live without it as it's near the back. Specialist was talking about a bridge which I don't like the idea of at all, at all. I've more than enough crowns already thank you.

Not that's really brilliant about the "No Roses December" idea. I might not last till 23rd but I finish work on the 21st so might try until then. And all that housework is definitely calorie burning!! Aw those calendars sound lovely - hopefully all the hand cream is out of the way now Wink.

Annie well done on 3lbs - that's brilliant Star Star Star

Goat that sounds like a good goal and a holiday is a great incentive.

Sesame great to hear you're doing well and the maintenance is working - a 1lb up/down now and again is probably par for the course.

Bath woohoo - you're under 11.7 that's fantastic I'm thrilled for you Star Star

Need your discipline is really great - with the food and the exercise! Funny how age triggers changes in us - I've bored everyone so much here already about how turning 40 this year eventually kicked me off on this journey.

Scandi welcome Flowers. I was at 11.13 when I joined these threads in August and I'm 10.6 now - I've been a bit slow Blush but I will say the support on here has been the game-changer for me this time. You're doing great already - 1200 is really tough. What's 16:8 MFP?

Cora I still think about Christmas a lot - are you going to count your calories on Christmas Day for example? I would like to, but it feels wrong somehow.

Sugar you've done so brilliantly - I really think the idea of maintenance for a while is a great one. You should be so proud of what you've achieved this year.

We did end up going for rubbish food last night but I just picked at it, so I estimated yesterday at 1340 which isn't too bad.

Mixed day for me today. I did laugh at all your talk of Advent Calendars...this morning H arrived upstairs with a surprise. I went ooo and thought - gosh I wonder is it an Advent Calendar! Opened my eyes and it was an Advent Calendar.....of.....gin Hmm. The irony is I'm not much of a drinker and my immediate worry was - how the heck am I going to work out the calories in each of them! God love him but he can't win sometimes, although I'm sure they won't all be for me Hmm. It is a lovely thought though and I will try some of them, and they're tiny bottles - 30ml each which isn't too bad I guess.

But it turned into a day from hell b/c of work issues and I realised in the past I would have dived straight into 4 pouches of choccies to make myself feel better. Feeling quite proud that I've resisted and I'm coming in at 975 today yippee.

Ta daa!

Not2bObvious · 01/12/2016 20:58

Oh wow dawg now that's an advent calendar I could get onboard (and off my rocker😉) with. A 30ml measure of gin is only around...50-70cals I reckon so with a drop of slimline it's the perfect tipple! First week I started back at the gym I had a g&t in the bath each time I went, lovely! Super job on not letting stress send you to picky'knickers'ville. I've sent myself to bed as was demented with cravings, that's what I get for watching reruns of master chef

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 01/12/2016 22:12

OMG Dawhead - you may have DH issues, but that is one amazing advent calendar. Am seriously jealous. But isn't it funny that a gift so thoughtful, but not for a non-gin drinker .... I actually have a bottle of pinkster gin on my Xmas list. Anyone tried it? I'm curious.

V busy day today - more work meetings. How dare I suddenly get so busy with deadlines. So no time to shout out to all, but I love catching-up on the gossip. But the guilt of not having been to dentist in SO long, nor taken DC's meant I couldn't offer-up any support. Sorry. I am a wicked parent.

SesameSparkle · 01/12/2016 22:50

not I'm liking no roses December. We've had quality street, shortbread, homemade cake and builder's biscuits in the office this week and a small stash of hotel chocolat inside my desk. Life would be so much better without all this shite constantly at arms length. Sad

queenofdieting Xmas Grin

not one tube of cream for each hands, it works! like a science experiment

dawhead a gin advent calendar! Xmas Grin Xmas Grin That's quite funny.... And so very mumsnet too..... Xmas Grin But sorry about the work shite - well done for resisting the chocs.

bath How dare work get in the way of a gossip on here.....! Wink

If sugar gets to change her name to the queen, I might need to change mine to sesame-double-dinner-sparkle.... Sad I completed my diary around 9pm, and with a few snacks and slip ups I'd just tipped into the 2000s for the day. Then I helped myself to a handful of nuts when clearing up my tea. Then some toast and cheese, then a second round.... The final total for the day is 2533. Sad And I can't say I enjoyed it all that much either - I could have had a proper cake for all that extra... or 10 quality street Xmas Hmm

Not2bObvious · 02/12/2016 08:16

Haha sesame, I'd have one hand smelling of honey, the other of lemons😁
Off to meet a friend for coffee this morning, got to steer clear of 🍰 The torture!!

OP posts:
Scandicat · 02/12/2016 09:39

Wow, very jealous of all the amazing advent calendars. Hadn't thought of buying one for myself. Next year, I guess. Sad

Need I do think age really comes into it, sadly. I'm 43 next birthday (almost as hard to write as my current weight). A friend who is a year older than me told me she felt she dived off a cliff in terms of ageing at 40 and I have really noticed a difference. Which is why I must do this now.

Thank you everyone for being so welcoming. I had a real life friend doing this with me last time and it makes such a difference not being alone with it. DH is also dieting which helps, but he's all or nothing, so he's either refusing to eat anything at all or he's eating crap. I'm aiming for moderation Grin

Daw 16:8 is a form of intermittent fasting. DH does 5:2 but I find that too hard and I eat too much on the non-diet days. 16:8 is basically only eating in an 8 hour window each day, usually I do 12 - 8pm. It means skipping breakfast and it stops me eating rubbish in the evenings. I think its really compatible with MFP because missing out on breakfast makes it easier for me to stick to 1200 calories.

TheQueenOfItAll · 02/12/2016 11:26

Hi all, finally back after after a v.stressful week.

Going to catch up on what I've missed. Hope everyone is doing OK :)

Bathsheba3 · 02/12/2016 12:14

I shouldn't laugh at your post from last night sesame but I am Grin I'm laughing with you for sure - it's something I would do!

Hope you had nice meet-up with your friend Not !

Not2bObvious · 02/12/2016 14:25

Had a lovely catch-up thanks bath, non stop chat for 3 hours! Only 2 americano's so cake resisted although I must admit to sampling a passion fruit profiterole in m&s. Omg, delicious! Stupid money though €9.50 for 12!! 83 calories each, divine. Had 2 reduced fat sausages, rasher & a slice of toast which I inhaled for lunch. So so hungry. I nearly pointed the car at mcd's drive through so it wasn't the worst compromise. I have also snaffled a few pringles, never too good to let myself get so hungry.
Hi again queen, hope the stress has lifted.

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 02/12/2016 16:15

Nom for the profiterole Not, DD can literally inhale them. Grin And respect for the americano's.

A GIN ADVENT CALENDAR!!! looks away quickly

Hope you are okay Queen.

Scandi It's just been this last year or two to be fair, but I started to notice my choice in clothes was changing to baggier styles and (the worst part for me) I looked at my holiday photos and hated them and could no longer make excuses that it was the clothes or the way I was sat etc. Once I have decided something though, that's it!

No actual exercise for me today other than the 3 miles dog walk. Felt I needed a day off.

Breakfast - chopped avocado on toast.
Lunch - small pasta salad from last nights tea. Few grapes and cherry tomatoes. Strangely full and I was hungry.
Dinner - will be JO chicken and chorizo tray bake.

Not Did you like the calendar treats today? I am very pleased. Got a body lotion from the Sanctuary one, smells divine. An acid face peel from M&S, interested to try.

Not2bObvious · 02/12/2016 16:49

I open mine in the evening need but I'll tentatively look forward to the acid peel🤗 I need a spoiler alert madam😉
Thai curry for dinner, too many pringles being snaffled here, I really need to avoid them

Lolimax · 02/12/2016 16:54

Hello! I'm baaaaaack been MIA but you can't get rid of me that easily. Just caught up with all your updates. I'm still logging everything I'm eating like a good girl, no loss to report but I've kept under 1300 except for last Saturday which we won't talk about (but it was fun!).
Works do tonight so hair has been done and LBD is hanging ready. I have a photo from this time last year, and even I can see the (almost) 4 stone difference.
Happy weekend everyone!

Needastrongone · 02/12/2016 17:43

Wow Loli, 4 stone is fabulous. Enjoy the works do and looking fabulous in the LBD.

Shit and corruption Not, I am so sorry to spoil your surprise. Completely put my foot in it there. Stupid of me, apologies again.

I'm a bit hungry. Made the JO tray bake which looks fab. Snacked on some hummus and baby sweetcorn, so I'll have a bath soon to keep me off the wine or anything naughtier. It's only an hour, if I can't hang on an hour then that's pretty useless.

What are folk up to for the weekend? We have an awards do to go to tomorrow for DD and have DF and DSM over Sunday. I'm either going to do the Parkrun Saturday or a gentle 5 miles and going out for 10 miles off road Sunday morning with the club. Which will cover any food excess.

Not2bObvious · 02/12/2016 19:25

Ahh I'm only jesting need 😘 Got a nice body cream in my loccitane one. Have to have my 1 Lindt choc soon, yumm

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 03/12/2016 08:33

Well I still didn't like that I spoilt the surprise though Not. Smile

Bit to shocked to step on the scales this morning and weight 7.7.8, even after a cuppa. I've been 7.10 most of this week but nudged down yesterday (didn't mention in case water!!) but I am more trusting of the measurement this morning.

That's half a stone since 3 November and starting MFP, another half before then so a stone since deciding to get off my arse and get serious about losing weight and (more importantly for me) getting fit again.

To be fair, I've worked bloody hard at the activity and eating well (no crap), so pleased to see the results.

Motivated to keep going. Lets keep going folks. Grin

Not2bObvious · 03/12/2016 09:31

Oh wow need that's amazing! I think your lost pounds are coming across the water to me😜 I dragged myself out of bed to my class, horrific. But done, fasting until 12 to try balance out the damage done by pringles & wine. Lots to do today, time to decorate the house after kid ferrying about & shopping. Starving😥

OP posts:
Scandicat · 03/12/2016 10:01

Your losses on here are amazing. Great inspiration.

I avoided temptation at a party last night by being the duty driver. Managed to stick at around 1200 and also walked 23,000 steps yesterday, so even though the party food calories were guesses, I hope I was ok.

Off to in-laws today, so that might be more tricky. But if I can manage over the weekend, that will be a week. Each little bit counts, right?

Hope you all have a good weekend and manage to resist temptation!

Not2bObvious · 03/12/2016 13:02

That's great behaviour for a Friday scandi, well done. Have a lovely evening, a bit off plan won't harm. I'm back from some taxiing, having a lie down for a couple of hours before I need to start cleaning/cooking. Dh is a man on the edge assembling xmas 🌲, I'm better off out of it!

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 03/12/2016 17:07

Well done on the class Not. And the taxiing, which I've done a fair bit of myself today.

5 miles done at a tempo pace, i.e. faster than steady but well in control. 10 muddy ones tomorrow, but 2 big meals to negotiate tonight and tomorrow.
